AVP2 - 4/10

Very poor sequel to a good film. No imagination in the story, substandard acting and very uninteresting action scenes. All very predictable and DULL. Not impressed. :-/

NUMBER 23 -brilliant film i picked up cheap from asda , starring Jim Carey he playes a great part , i wont give away any of the plot as it could spoil the movie, the cinematics are great also , theres non of those silly hole filled twists in this , but this film keeps you guessing too the end without throwing random plot fixes at you .
9/10

Farce of the penguins 9/10

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farce_of_the_penguins

Brilliant parody of that penguin docu-film march of the penguins. Narrated perfectly by Samuel L Jackson and with many recognisable voices.

Favorite bit is the argument between SLJ and the old penguin who is "Freezing his nuts off" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCzJrHuAt4A

Sweeney Todd - the demon barber of fleet street. 6/10

Very well shot and plenty of atmosphere. Depp & Bonham Carter are good too in there roles but a bit empty on the storyline. Too much singing too. I know it's a musical but they don't have to sing ALL the time.

watched the complete alien squiligy so ...ahem here goes

Alien - number 1 , ok seen it loads its still got some great FXs and TBH Ripley only makes one error in judgement and makes some quite believeable calls - 7/10

Aliens - again Ripley only make one mad judgement (deciding to look for n rescue Newt near the end of the movie) everyone else has the wrong plan LOL - "game over man" (should have been) a worthy sequal 7/10

Alien 3 - agggh ok more egg has gone into making the aliens look ugly , but what was the point of this British prision ship version anyway - who cares about an Alien Host (ripley) and a bunch of murderers n rapists(the prision ship dwellers) - it is hard to get a grasp of the scale of the ship , the pemanant dark scenes and te pointless plot makes this a 3/10

Alien resurection -double aaaaagh , ok what next?? lets give these aliens a huminised persona. sniffing around looking for Mam ma ?!>!! - Ripley cloned as some super duper mother hen - this has got the most unplausable plotlines and everything - its all very annoying and full off holes lol :9 gah ! 3/10

Alien vs Prededor - Right after watching 4 Alien movies back to back at work it was hard to make any real sence of the plot for this as , for 1 thing this is the prequel to all the Alien movies as for as a time line is concerned and i guess(as we never saw it recently after Predetor with Arnie)
This looks quite slick , thankfully he aliens have the exact same look as those from the original movies and the special FXs team didnt go silly making them look meaner , the film is ok but the problem i have with this movie is the Predetors random murderous tendancies.
I moment they kill humans/aliens at will and instantly ,next they take their time and selections to make the viewer get alll edge of their seaties-
1 eg the prededor has a 1 v 1 with an alien but at any point it could have taken it clean out the story by using any longe range weapon or wire mesh trap it wanted !??!
Also the predetor that "befrends" the lead woman (forget who she is n dont actually care much) takes on a silly conan the barbarian personallity its too daft even for sci-fi
- 4/10
and no wonder i dont bother with the sci-fi genge LOL

PHEW !!!!!!!!

7/10 for the first 2 Alien films? Are you mad man?

Ok i know it's all about opinions but the first was a suspense classic and the second was an utterly brilliant action fest with some of the best one liners in history. B-)

"Hey Vaquez, you ever been mistaken for a man?" "No, have you?"
Brilliant! :D

No Country for Old Men - 6/10

Well the Oscar winner for Best Picture this year was the reason i bought this and all i can say is........EH? WTF. Why did this win? Must be a rigged vote because this film was a huge disappointment. There were far too many faults with this film and i can't be arsed to list them all here.

Kilted , 7/10 is erm a good score isnt it 5/10 is average afterall :o esp for someone who has already said Sci fi isnt a genre i watch - .

LOL you liked that , what about "Game over Man!!" we laffed at that on alien 2 - I didnt like the mexican lesbian TBH all a bit gun Ho for me i liked the charactors that showed fear not arrogance in the face of probable death , it kinda made sense :)

anyways we finished off the Aliens movie a thon with
Alien vs Predetor 2 - now i must admit i was bored big style by the time this got going and we were basically picking holes in the plot for fun rather than trying to enjoy it - Knowing that an Alien must somehow survive (to allow alien(1) to happen ) - aaaaaanyways , this was basically Teen Road movie meets Alien vs Predetor and TBH the Fact it was set on earth n things where quickly running out of control were lost on the Director brothers , coz this could have been soo much better . Still didnt understand the Psyche of the Predetor , as his basic mission was to eliminate all aliens before they escaped into the wider planet (worried about destroying the human race ??? i dunno) - so why not kill evey human in the zone to stop increased infestation (why is it randomly selective , ?)- well the generals in the sky figured that out instead LOL.
5/10

I can see your point Daz about not being a sci-fi fan but neither am i. Nothing bores me more than the continual stream of pish on Sky/Virgin/BBC/ITV/Bravo,etc,etc,etc. I mean do they really need to do a dozen different versions of Star Trek? Anyway my point is that i don't consider the Aliens films as sci-fi. More like monster flicks, if that makes sense.
And i thought the hard ass latino was excellent in Aliens. Nice to see a woman play a part of a tough bitch convincingly.

Went to see two films today.

The Happening - 5/10
Story about a couple who try to escape from a series of weird biological "attacks" which cause people to commit suicide. As far as a MNS film goes this is alright all though it has the classic "don't give a shit about" characters and weak plot that would be better done as an hour long tv movie rather than stretched into a feature length film. The main reason i went to see this film was to see what the twist was going to be, although i was expecting a disappointing twist i was even more disappointed to discover that there was none. What is the point of a MNS film without a twist.

The Incredible Hulk - 8/10
A vast improvement to the last one and is actually a reboot rather than a sequel (thank god) and is more true to the comics and tv series (it even has the hitch-hiking music in it) . Anyways Ed Norton is brilliant in it and is the perfect person to play "puny" Banner and is supported by Liv Tyler as Betty Ross. It introduces the villain "the Abomination" and also for the sequel "The Leader" and has a setup for the 2011 Avengers film.. Best of all this time the Hulk speaks and says "Hulk, Smash!!".

kung fu panda = 9/10

i really enjoyed watching this. some real laugh out loud moments. really well animated. pefectly cast, jack black is brilliant as the panda. some of the fight scenes are just fantastic. highly recomend it. it's not just for kids and i bet it's a mile better than the game tie in.

Cloverfield - 4/10

What can i say about this but "Pish" and "Rip off" are the first words that come to mind. Just glad i borrowed a copy instead of paying £13 for this mammoth 75 minute Handycam cash in. I thought we'd seen the last of this type of film with Blair Witch but apparently theres still a fortune to be made from cheaply running around with a video camera and then having the nerve to release it as a film. Now wheres my video camera?

Fargo - 4.5/10

I've heard that this is supposed to be a great film but i found it quite boring and the only thing that really entertaining were the Minisota accents. I think all the hype was because it lied and said it was a true story which resulted in loads of people going out to look for the missing money.

wierd coz i almost bought it today in blockbusters instead i bought ...

THIS IS ENGLAND - what a film , this is probably one of the top 10 movies ive ever seen - Its a spot on look at life in the early 80s - i was there too as a 12 yr old back then , where peer pressure ruled everything and flared trousers were something only an evil parent would force on a kid at school LOL
The acting ,script and character forming is exellent (everything is believable , the interraction between each character is real n not over done as if it were a hollywood movie ) - ok theres NO plot and not actual storyline as such , but u get to live a brief period of what stuff was like in a shithole town in the early 80s -

this movie pisses all over the brilliant AMERICAN History X - a movie of a very similar nature starring ed Norton , but just not as real !

10/10 no probs giving it that score for me

Jumper - 7/10

I remember seeing a trailer for this before it came out at the cinema and thought it looked good (especially as my fave actor SLJ is in it) but with being busy at the time and hearing bad reviews i gave it a miss. Since then i heard even worse comments about it, so when i started to watch it i wasn't expecting much. I am pleasantly surprised that it was so good.

If you didn't know, its about this bloke who discover that he has the ability to teleport, so he does what anyone would do rob a bank and like a playboy lifestyle. However he then discovers that he is being hunted by this (quasi religious) group called paladins who believe jumpers are an abomination. Alot of action ensues and then he gets the girl.

30 days of NIGHTS - a vampire movie set in northern Alaska , its a brilliantly shot movie , very eerie with good atmospherics - but it IS a vampire movie so the action does border on silly sometimes (now im not talking about the face chomping or extra strong powers that the vampy types have )- more over that like in so many films they tend to be a bit crap at killing the leading actors when in a 1 on 1 clinch (u know what i mean , u have to put up with these scenes in movies or we have a short film LOL) - well those moments aside its a great movie ,with a rather unpredictable ending really .
very enjoyable 8/10

The Game - 10/10

Literally just finished watching this awesome film and it is so good that i will have to watch it again soon. Starring Michael Douglas as some sort of investment banker (i think) who for his birthday is entered into an Alternative Reality Game where all sorts of shit happens and has o many twists and turns i'm a bit dizzy. Thats all i'm going to say about it because despite my usual manner i don't want to spoil it for anyone.

One last thing. Watch it!!!

Teeth - 5/10

Man's worst nightmare a woman with teeth in her vagina :187 . Not as bad as i thought it was going to be but still i'm glad that i watched it online instead of wasting money on it. Probably would be good as a drunken/stoned watching with friends.

While watching it i got the feeling that it was trying to give a message about female sexual power but wasn't very effective. Although the message about how US views on Sex Ed are stupid and that abstinence "promise" movements are a bunch of weirdos.

When it comes to the actors the only one i recognised was the deadbeat arsehole brother who is the son in Nip/tuck (i've always thought he looks abit like Michael Jackson and found it funny that he was in a show about plastic surgeons).

Wanted - 7/10

Fed up with life loser gets recruited into a 1000yr old fraternity of assassins. Action packed with allot of SPX and the obligatory shot of Jolie's butt. In my opinion it was trying to hard to be the matrix and the plot twist were abit predictable but overall quite a good movie.

Narnia II: Prince Caspian - 5/10

Better than the first one but still not that great and abit to long. A lot of fight/battle scenes but as its a kids movie you don't see anything very interesting.

Omega Man ? did it star Miroslav Yakult and Emo Assitass ??

KNOCKED UP
- by the makers of 40yr old virgin .... yeah it wasnt bad , im kinda getting used to this american humour now by leaving my brain at the door . There some good gags , some terrible gags and some rather serious "hurry up n get to a funny bit" bits ...
The movie (like 40yr old) is pointlessly elongated with aditional material on the DVD but all in all its not a time waster ... 6/10
