Looking to treat myself at crimbo with a new TV but, i cant seem to find one thats sweet. I found this one Phillips 42PFL9632 but on reading reviews it suffers from lag for games. Now i know i need to look at refresh rates etc and 100hz blah blah blah but the fact is even with all that crap some still cant cope with gaming. What you guys using? Any recommendations? Any good Deals? Im looking for a 42" Cheers |

i have a 37" samsung. it's a budget range but everything works well. there is a game mode which increases the refresh rates and whatnot, down to 5ms i think. it was only £375 at the time which was a bargain. i've used my laptop with the hd dvd drive and tho it's only hd ready it looks stunning. deadly has the same model as me but the 50" and it's just as good. i only got it as a stop gap but after chrimbo and that i might look for a full hd panel and get a blu-ray drive. try hdtvorg.co.uk i found the reviews and price check thing pretty handy when i was shopping around. |

i have both a 46" samsung and a 28" sharp Aquos - since i went to the smaller screen ive never looked back Son has an even better pic using the uuber pinsharp LG 26/28" i dunno less is more ,sometimes , all id say is dont compromise screen size for pixel refresh rate and Contrast ratio ---- for watching crap on telly go as big as ur wallet and wall can take tho ;) |

just noticed the link in your original post. that telly looks pretty good. 3ms response time is pretty good. i'm no expert but i don't think i've seen any better, how can this lag if refreshes that fast? i've never noticed any lag on deadly's 50" panel an thats a 5ms response. amazon has it currently unavailable, what price is it? |

well ive got a LG 42" 1080p or i... cant remember what, also got the cable that supports the setting too, and well lets say, i fucking love it, i cant fault it. never had an lg before this and i dont think i will ever change now such a sturdy make and when i bought it the guy said that this was one of the best tv's for gaming..... wether theres a whole lot of truth in that i dont know but hey. neways thats my 2 cents LG TV hope that link works dno what your price range is but that looks pretty decent and its got same specs as mine. yeah , things change month by month , and when i got my samsung , they where the kings of LCD technology , but like Ulteria says LG take some beating , but to be honest any top brand can make affordable sets at 42" with under 6ms (which was very fast last year ) --- so 3ms prr will be more than dandy. if u cant decide between 2 look for other things like connectivity / contrast ratio or even speakers - All i can say is im glad im not looking right now coz i know how anal id get over their specs LOL |

Beginning to think there isnt a particular TV thats great for gaming cause for every bugger i read about there seems to be some fault along the way. Lots of nice TV's out there but no matter what i search there just isnt a great gaming TV |

you've got to take into account that its peoples opinions boom, i'd say find a nice LG, Sony or Samsung that has a decent contrast ratio/re-fresh rate and you won't have that many problems at all. i've got a 27" evesham HD, had it years and i've never had any probs with it even though it really isn't one of the best. |

ive been thinking of getting a new tv, im currently using a 32" sharp, its 4 years old and as you can imagine the width is larger than the screen lol and weighs a fucking ton haha, but saying that its a cracking picture and had no probs with it. But I would like more space and an LCD one is the only way... Edited by Johnny, Dec 12 2008, 02:07 PM.

When i first got my 360 last October i tried playing on a regular 22" tele but found i couldn't read some of the text when playing Forza 2. I snapped up a 26" HD LCD from Argos by that well known electrical company Acoustic Solutions. Cost me the princely some of £270 and the picture is stunning. Runs very nicely at 1080I. Sorted.

Yes mate seems a good lil number, tbh if you go looking in to it too much you come out non the wiser there are pro's n con's too all of em. Stick to your budget n get one you like 100hz+ is meant to sort out any screen blur but like i say ive heard ppl dont see much of it anyway.

Only thing i could'nt see johnny was 100Hz to save on motion blur (on mine in Cinema mode the CoD crosshair staggers across the screen Game mode which is 100hz no blur at all) Also that ad says its HD Ready but not full HD which is 1080p. In fact it doesn't say what it is could be anything 1080i 720p. Worth checking bud ;)

Guys, little help needed. I am looking to get a new 19" TV for spare room, it will be connected to XBox for a while too i think, choices are either standard LG, Tecknika with USB recordability (both £150) or Toshiba with built in DVD (£220 with 5 year warranty included). Any suggestions..... I am leaning towards LG as less to go wrong, but help is good!! |

If its not gonna be your main Xbox tv i wouldn't be too fussed only got to put up with it for a while, go with the best for the money. £150 quid on TV-DVD players are cheap as chips £20 (probably less in super market) = £170 Toshiba = £220 Saving of £50 = MW2 covered

the Toshiba is the problem as £220 with 5 year cover seems a decent deal, but I don't like to spend money at the best of times. I will go to John Lewis at lunch tomorrow and have a gander, then Tesco to but from their. cheers guys |

go for the best you can afford (screen quality wise) - so that would probably mean dumping the one with a DVD player .... LG LCD TVs are amongst the best out there , especially their £250 and under screens , we bought a 26incher from ebuyer a year ago for my son and its proper spot on , it cost £250 back then ....... so i'd check EBUYER .com i think thats its url . this is a link to their TV , not sure if the one we bought came under the list MONITORS with speakers , but its worth a dig around , Televisions here is a list of monitors , some come with Freeview and there are some good quality tellys listed , monitorssss £220 LG 23"monitor with freeview ive not rummaged around the specs , but it should hit the spot ;) |
