A release date gas been scheduled for the PlayStation 3 introduction of Bioshock.

European gamers should be able to get hold of a copy on the PlayStation 3 on October 24th, according to game developer 2K Games.

First-person shooter Bioshock was originally released and achieved high sales success on the Xbox 360, but the new version is said to contain all new content that "augments and extends the experience in exciting ways", added 2K Games.

President of 2K Christoph Hartmann, said: "With the addition of the new add-on game content we are able to extend the award-winning adventure while maintaining the perfect harmony that millions of players around the world have fallen in love with."

Headlining the updated features of the game is a 'survivor' difficulty mode.

Bioshock is a narrative-driven action experience, where gamers are taken into a terrifying world caught between powerful forces and genetically mutated citizens.

The underwater utopia called Rapture faces players and they must do all in their power to survive.
