Been playing the demo and i'm definately getting it when it comes out.

Normally i don't like RTSs but i'm hooked on this.

Started playing it at around 2amish and before i new it my sister's alarm was going off at 6.

Could someone else download it as i want to try out the multiplayer without the risk of being frashed by a 10yr old US who spends 24hrs a day playing it.

i'll get it and see how it plays. i used to play civ a fair bit offshore and that. my old man is really into his civ games, plus he's really fucking good at them...he reads books on how to be a master at it.

no idea what it'll be like on a console.

Got my first victory with it last night.

There are several ways to win: Science/technology - be the first to launch a ship to alpha century, Money - get 20,000 gold, Culture - get 20 great people/wonders and build a UN.

I kept trying with these ways but came to the realisation that they are not possible on the demo.
Also it is really annoying to realise that while you've been concentrating on building a utopian civilisation that you have neglected to build an army for defence and end up with everyone stealing your cities.

So last night i just build the biggest army i could and conquered their arses.

ok im pissed off playing this on single player, i stomped across the world took down to civ's then attacked a third. i had a massive army but his capitols defence was at 40 ish and no matter what i threw at him none of his guys died i, had nearly unlimited troops but couldnt do any damage. it was total stale mate. how the hell can i beat him, ive got more money more troops and better tech wtf is going on. saw somewhere it said catapolts are good but you have to defend them? i cant see any way of doing that and i tried for ages.. any ideas?

if i remember right any troops occupying the same sqaure have the defence bonus added. so if your foot soldiers are on top of the catapult it's the foot soldiers that do the fighting. i think i'll have a gander at this and see how it differs from the p.c

I'm getting better at it.

Tonight i managed to get Rome's population to 29, was generating around 500 science, about 100 culture and 87 gold per turn. I was 2 turns away from electricity when it ended but had managed to get advanced flight from building the Oxford wonder.

Only conquered 1 other nation which was the Aztech only because the were very close and were in a good production area.

I think next time i'm going to try and see how far i can get with a gold setup.

I have this game n to defend Catapults just move some other guys into the same space and press Blue/X to set defensive stance, so when the enemy attacks you, your defensive rating is higher.

At least thats what i do lmao, hope it helps.

Visit unique worlds with the Surreal Single Player Map Pack for Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution. Includes Atoll, Patterns, Mountains of Madness, and Paisley. Hoist the yardarm and trim the sails as while each player begins on a minute island, the true source of success in Atoll lies on the narrow straits of the atoll itself. Patterns is a balanced map and you'd better hurry if you want to get your hands on any of its precious artifacts! In Mountains of Madness, be prepared to make lengthily journeys to attack your foes or hunker down and race to a combat-free victory! Numerous snaking islands will be your playground in Paisley, meaning your civilization will be more spread out than usual - and even more challenging to defend!

and for 100 points

Go to the extremes of civility with the Survival Pack for Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution! Includes three map-based scenarios: Ice Age, Global Warming and The Eye. In The Eye, keep your peepers peeled, as this scenario features faster units, bonus starting technologies, and extra naval support. In Global Warming the seas have risen, the continents have sunk beneath the waves, and things are about to get ugly. Raging barbarians, scarce resources, and creeping deserts have decimated the planet and it is up to you to bring order to a world in chaos. In the final scenario, the world is caught in the frozen grip of the latest Ice Age. Navigate frosty channels and keep an eye open for raging barbarians - they seem to be out in force.
