"Brown is doing a better job than Rafa!" Hull City chairman Paul Duffen has leapt to the defence of manager Phil Brown, claiming that he is doing a better job than his Liverpool counterpart Rafael Benitez. Despite Hull winning just four of their last 39 league games, and being firmly mired in the relegation zone this season, Duffen insisted that Brown had managed to get more out of his players with limited resources. "Everything you do in life is about adding value," he said, according to The Daily Mirror. "If you look at the squad that Phil Brown has got and what he will do with that this season compared possibly to the squad that Rafa [Benitez] has got, I think you'll find that Phil will come out on top in terms of how you add value to a group of footballers." And despite the growing calls from fans for Duffen to sack his beleaguered manager, the Hull chairman insisted that he was sticking by his man. "It's not just that continuity is important from my perspective, I think continuity is really important in life generally," Duffen said. "We live in far too disposable a society these days. I think the culture that says 'oh dear, things are getting a bit tough, let's just kick everyone around us' and use that as a fire-break to your problems, doesn't work. "We did unbelievably well last season and broke all records for a newly-promoted side. I think people use that as a stick to beat Phil with because he over-achieved so much this time last year, which is ridiculous. "We're one season in. We're very near our one-point-a-game average, which we believe will be enough to stay in the Premier League this year." ABSOLUTE bonkers bonkers |

Well we don't need to laugh at him anymore mate as he resigned yesterday. Said he was taking responsability for the poor results of the last year. Nice of him to dive on the live grenade and save Phils job. Just delaying it really though. If the finances were a mess or the infastructure of the club was fucked up then blame the board but for a year of poor results.........gotta be laid to rest at the managers feet. |
