i tend to stick to what i know when it comes to game buying. as i stay in a hicksville town i have a VERY limited choice as to where i can get games. i have fully embraced online shopping and the art of the pre-order and i have seen deals that might save me a pound or two but i'd rather spend the extra pound safe in the knowledge that i'll get what i ordered. i've read in a few forums of people getting deals on borderlands from zavvi who i never check so the aim of this thread is to get everybody's input as to where they shop and what sites they have experience of and making up an sps safe shopping list of links to whittle out the dross and wotnot. for instance who the fuck uses shopto.net? are they as bad as the site looks? the net is a wonderful thing but there is an awful lot of shit that needs regulated...... let's regulate mother luvvers!! |

ok - recommendations that 1. work 2. deliver whats promised 3. have some sort of credibility games... I mostly use Gameplay for new release games i want a day early (pay the extra 99p delivery costs remember ! ) trade-ins , i mostly use the local blockbusters and occasionally Gamestation (i find GAME to be much less competitive on price) i dont tend to shop around for my Games online , but for delivery i trust PLAY.com . Music n DVDs when im buying a CD ill firsly check the Amazon Marketplace (especially if im buying an american artist as i want the Home lable and not some Euro stodgeetty .... (yes im a Music snob) Ive never had a problem with Amazon or its marketplace , but be prepared for a few days wait if you dont want to pay silly delivery fees ! HMV reliable but S...L...O...W PLAY have a good range and quick n usually cheap ... but check the small print on stock quantities coz they do list a lot of stuff they dont have ready to ship. Books , i use Amazon , much cheaper than Waterstones , tho i use the store in town to thumb trough a book im interested in ;) |

For games, I'd use thehut.com, game or ebay for older stuff. The hut are normally pretty cheap, and do daily deals that are worth a look. They also sent me ODST over a week before releae date. Game have always delivered to me a day or two early. I ordered MW2 from Argos, as it was 32 quid. I'd never use CEX, as the are a rip off. For books, I go to a shop! |

For games I have had bargains from Asda, BlahDVD and Base. I tend to trawl as many sites as I can before buying. Cannot remember the last time I bought a game from a real shop!! Books I get from Amazon. |

For Games for ordering in advance play.com - never had an issue always got the games in advance of release date or on the release date, but lately their prices to not seem that competitive as what they use to be, if in Shop I always look in ASDA etc. as they tend to know how to reduce and sell stuff cheap Game is ok you know they'll have it but not always the best price. I had never considered zavvi but following looking at their website I have book marked it and will now compare when ordering on-line. |

Sorry to disappoint you Doc but you won't get it for 32 quid then. you will get the 20% off promo but as they have changed the price before release thats what you will have to pay.

i don't think so, don't they have to honour the price as stated at time of purchase/order? what's the point of pre-ordering at early bird prices if they can just change the price willy nilly? gee ordered from tesco and they took the money out of his account that day. they've changed the price since he ordered but they can't charge him more for it. different if the price comes down. |

Ha, doesnt work like that I'm afraid Kilted. if the price gets cheaper you get a rebate, but if goods are paid for, a company has to honour that price. its called the Consumer Credit Act. |
