keep the blue flag flying high

Heroes Over Europe the game is officially available today 18 September 2009 I was lucky enough to receive my copy yesterday so thank you very much Play.com you've never let me down and I may like you even more if you could be even cheaper even though I find you one of the cheapest anyway. So I load the game up a simple tutorial gets you into the swing of things with two flying modes Pro or arcade (pro reminded me a bit like flying the planes on Battlefield 1943)There is a story line of how your a guy from Canada who found it easy to sign up to the RAF for some glory. I played in arcade mode it is a lot simpler to control but still good enough to get the plane to do what you want, each mission as it's objectives with bonus objectives as well complete these and you start to un-lock better planes each plane eg Hurricane has it's own stats which differ from different planes eg. the Spitfire maybe more agile than the hurricane but may not pack such a punch and the hurricane mk III packs more of a punch than the hurricane mk 1 get the picture? it may be a case of each mission being trial and error deciding which is the better plane to use. The shooting mode has an ACE kill function rather than simply shooting planes down you line it up wait for the sight to charge it self up zoom in when it changes to yellow on the 'soft spot' shoot and your enemy falls gracefully from the sky you can link these ace kills up then at the end of each mission your own stats are displayed. I play on LDTV I know I really need to change as I cant even read the writing that's displayed on the screen with out sitting 1 metre from it. I did try multi-player mode and it offers player/ranked matches as well as the usual dogfight and team dogfight etc modes and a leader board. I did try multi player mode alas there was only one other person on it I joined in dogfight mode he quit and then I received "host has quit" I did wait a bit longer but alas no one else was available and it was getting late. So far I like it on single player but it's the only flying game I own and can only compare it to Hawx which I played on demo and found it awful. When I've played more single player and on multi-player mode I'll give it a score. So far I like it but that may change. |

we have a copy of this on the rig. i have to say i wasn't impressed. i only played it for about 40 mins during my lunch break but i just couldn't get into it. we also have il-2 sturmovik which imo is a much better game, more fun to play, nicer to look at. no gimicky ace kill twaddle. i will give it another go and try and get a couple of chevs but it gets a big poo poo from me i'm afraid. |

the missions are far too long you feel they're never going to end, I've not played IL2 so can't compare it, but as for multi-player it truly is awful there is nobody on line I have managed 1 game and there was only 4 of us. |
