Five epic battles representing the main airborne conflicts of World War II in Europe are available – The Battle of Britain, Stalingrad, Berlin, Sicily and Korsun. I might be boring, but inside there's interesting person waiting to get out.
Cool, always fancied a sim-ish game on a console. I'll watch with interest. Experience tells me to wait for a demo though!

i like the fact that one of its advertised features is the ability to choose difficulty. Let me guess easy, medium and hard.

i played it for about two hours pissed out my face on the real-life difficulty setting and thought it was a thoroughly beautiful, realistic and authentic ww2 flight sim.

Thus I sucked nazi asshole at it and flapped like a broken-beaked goose into the ground so many times I felt airsick. Apparently if you set the control sensitivity to 8 notches from the left, it negates the possibility of stalling and spinning, but I couldn't do anything about it.

Strafing the ground is an absolute nightmare and how the fuck we won the battle of britain is a complete mystery to me...

For me the phsyics seem completely off, far too arcadey. The missions don't seem clear. Go to battle of the bulge, hadn't a fucking clue what I was meant to do. Something about a bridge. Played the game again yesterday and i swear all i did was practice landing in farmer giles' field (which was pretty cool) and my AI buddies completed the objective for me!

Also, how many WW2 had a nitros boost thingy? I know the Spitfire's Merlin engine was supercharged but COME ON!

It's a pass from me.

lol , i found the stalling a problem as with the other games of flyingness you dont worry about that ..... the controls are really nice tho , same with the target system ... oh and unlike Blazing angels 2 , the things ur shoting at arnt blocked by a damage bar icon and target name lol.

gotta agree about ground fire tho , its not easy , tho neither was BA2 , --- BF1943 got me wanting more dogfighting , but for me BA2 has people playing it that play nothing else so its very very difficult in MP and this new one here mite be the same ----
i might give it a go at £20

hmn well i tried this again last night as I know this got good reviews on pc and I wasn't really up to flying anywhere except into my own bed the last time i played it. I actually counted the 8 notches along FROM THE LEFT (instead of the right, as I had drunkenly done before) and the simulation mode, whilst not as easy as arcade mode, is playable without smashing into the ground every ten seconds.

That said, it's still fucking hard. I got stuck with a virtual HUD which makes taking out ground targets a nightmare because you can't see the ground (naturally) and you don't get any targetting options on the HUD to home in using screen indicators. You get a map and a locator, and a kick up the arse as you have to do about ten flyovers just to see what you're supposed to hit.

That is, until you remember you've a zoom function, which can let you see targets from over 2 kilometres away. It's damned difficult on simulation, but tbh I enjoyed the challenge. There's fuck all decent flying games for the 360, so (until the evil rumour of lucasart's revival of x-wing vs. tie fighter is either quashed or substantiated) I'm going to go out and buy this on release day wan.

Shame no good flying games, I really liked CRIMSON SKIES on the xbox I believe it was the most popular on line game in its time was so,a pity it was full of some major bugs, I know Heroes over Europe is released soon but I never played heroes over Pacific so have no idea what the game play will be like anyone know?

i've only tried the demo on the arcade setting but i really enjoyed it. it wasn't very challenging and started to get a bit samey for me but then again you can only shoot so many planes before you've seen it all. the multiplayer dog fights will be the proof of how good this is.

hmnn. apparently there are no take-offs anywhere on this game to please the simulation buffs. Only a few select landings in certain missions. How odd.

Anyone got this or planning to get this? Heroes over Europe is released on the 18/09/09 and I see no point in getting both with both games released so close to each other. I'm tending to lean closer to HOE but would appreciate others reviews.

it does look good and yes the reviews have come back good. but there's not room for both this and HOE as I can't play both and I'm a tight twat, HOE looks more arcade hence the edge but I stand to be corrected and this is available now.
