I've played it for about 4 hours so far and its quite good. There's a lot to do with all the extra jobs and side missions to finish. You need to explore a LOT to find everything as well. The maps/dungeons are quite large, but you feel like you're wandering around a little too much cause of the size of each area and all enemies are visable onscreen - no random battles to slow you down. If you don't want to fight, there's usually enough room to avoid enemies in open areas... The fighting is real time and takes a bit to get used to but its fast and action based and the AI aint too bad for your party members either. Only done the first boss but that was quite cool and took about 10 minutes. I tried the Tales demo and liked it but opted for this as it was Square-Enix and Tri-Ace (both good RPG developers). Then again, I have ALL the rpg's for the 360 and will get Tales next time. Definately a good game so far and the previous Star Ocean games have all been good (I still have the last 2. 1 from the PS1 and 1 from the PS2). Hope that helps. If you want other good RPG's I would recommend Lost Odessey and The Last Remnant for the 360. Both will keep you going for quite some time and you can probably pick them up cheaper second hand now.....  |

almost finished Lost odyssey, and i've played previous Star Ocean and Tales games so am torn atm  i'll most likely play both at some point so i'm just gonna go with Tales first then i think. i can let you know what it's like, i'll be getting it today |

Had a go of the tales demo yesterday and hated it. It was to kiddy and cutesy and the combat was crap (i much prefer TB combat). Star Ocean looks alot more like my thing and even though its real time combat it looks much better than that in tales. Haven't played Lost Odyssey in ages and really should get back to it someday. |

what one? just bought Tales, will most likely be playing it a bit later, was a bitch finding a copy, both Game shops in Bluewater didn't have it >.< the only thing that pushed me towards Tales was hearing that SO has the long arse dungeons |

Your getting an RPG!!??!! They dont normally have little short dungeons and the like! Where's the fun in a dungeon that lasts all of 10 minutes and then a boss battle to complete??!! Pah! And I thought I had found a fellow rpg enthusiast!!  LOL!!

Did the second boss last night, he was easier than some of normal battles i had in the dungeon leading up to him. Really liking it so far with my only complaints really being the typical JRPG complaints i.e. Voice acting and stupid characters (two biggest culprits being Welch and lym). Oh i also hate the 20 per item limit thing. |

oh yeah... could an admin maybe move this to the proper place. . . . . Just had a look and noticed that we don't have a RPG board, we have Action & Adventure but that's rather generic considering we have a Tom Clancy board. Just a thought. |

so far Tales is good, some boss fights are really hard, taking more than 1 attempt on most :s voice acting is quite good and the cut scenes are Anime so it looks nice too  yeah this has a 15 item limit, which sucks

lol the third boss was piss easy, i was able to do him in under a minute. Although to be fair i think i'm a little over levelled from farming items. |

i had one part on tales that took me over an hour to do, die, reload. die reload. i had to cheat in the end lol. some bosses are very hard and have some kind of trick to help

I'm at about 50hrs and by my estimates i'm about halfway through. Spent most of my time doing side-quests and leveling. I'm just doing some web searches to find the best price for the other games of the series. Anyone ever heard of or used www.coolshop.co.uk? |
