Halo 3 ODST

Bungie has released some screenshots and information regarding the three new multiplayer maps that will be included with Halo 3: ODST. These maps will be included with ODST on a separate DLC disk from what I understand and not sure if they will become available on the Marketplace at a later date.

The maps are as follows:

Heretic: Heretic returns players to familiar ground as the Halo 2 arena “Midship” makes its long-rumoured debut in Halo 3. The stark interior of the Pious Inquisitor might appear austere on first glance, but Heretic’s symmetrical spaces require players to execute complex strategies in order to outplay their opponents.

Citadel: Citadel may be a long abandoned Forerunner stronghold, but its small, symmetrical confines are far from secure. Two opposing bases offer little safety for players looking for solace. Instead, Citadel forces small squads to stay in constant communication, keep their heads on a swivel, and be prepared to adjust combat tactics in close quarters.

Longshore: Longshore lacks the commercial ships that once made it a lucrative port for Old Mombasa, but it still bustles with activity. Designed for large scale combat and well suited for smaller affairs, Longshore’s multitude of industrial buildings, elevated walks, and open inlets conspire to create a complex battleground tailored for multiple combat scenarios.

why are they dlc/seperate disc and not in the game? i liked midships from halo2 but if the odst troopers don't have the same armour and abilities they won't be able to jump about as much as master chief. am i right in thinking that?

Because the maps are for halo 3 (it's the second set of maps that were released a couple of months ago) .It's a bonus for buying Halo 3:ODST

And also complete the last three multiplayer skull chevvies.

That's cause it kind of is still Halo 3 but played from a different story angle but I know what you mean

I might pick this up cause I like halo 3, which currently has a few good game modes (like dodge ball and team stickies) but is a shame that they can only be enjoyed by those that buy the maps.

same here, had 1 dlc pack as optional so you could still do ranked matches, now you need it so i've stopped playing Halo3.

Like Daz said in another thread, the game can be shit but for me going up behind someone and smacking 'em round the head feels good.
Also I didn't know that any game modes that you like in public can be transferred over to your maps and settings to play private

just read about the halo equivalent of zombie mode and i have to say it sounds shit hot. seemingly a cross of all the best bits we like from gears2 horde mode, cod's zombies and left 4 dead. it's been play tested quite vigorously by several press types so there will be plenty sites speaking about it shortly.

Just watched a video about the multi-player disc of this and the guy says that not only do you get the 3 new maps but it also gives you every map they have ever released too so thats 24 maps all together on the bonus disc.

Considering i've never bought the last 2 map packs its a good deal for me :P

The "Legendary Map Pack" was released in April 2008 and I would have still bought them even if I had known about this game then.

Halo 3 players will not be able to get the additional 3 mythic maps via DLC, it is exclusive with ODST (may ofcourse come in the future).

There are alot of things that make halo 3 so brilliant, i have to say bungie are one of the best for supporting a released game, alot of maps, alot of achievements added and the playlists change alot and special fun mode games on the weekends for bonus XP.

Take for example the guys that were playing CoD 4 rambo, think how much better that would be if you converted it to halo 3 you could actually design the map with relative ease, add the weapons where you wanted them etc, allocate who starts with what weapons, there are alot of options.
I've even seen custom racing gametypes.(mongoose races ftw).

yeah though you couldn't really edit the maps properly though, could you? I mean you couldn't move buildings around and change the height of the terrain etc.?

right about the MP on this new halo game ,is it gonna play like Halo 3 ? there are many gameplay problems with this hunk of shit , and yes i do like playing Halo ,i just think it plays VERY last generation

are the hit points fucked up ?
melee attacks , are they now fair ?
players dropping out of games , are they replaced ???
do the fucking guns do damage now ?
do players still skate around the maps like torville n deano
about the maps .... do they still look bland as fuck ?
can we disable the vehicles
Does the only good bit of Halo 3 exist (you can hear screaming enimies )??
can we pretend it wasnt released n just by the new COD game instead ?

a lot of questions , but i bet my legs most of them wont be addressed !!!

dont believe the HYPE

My missus has bought it already for the low low price of 22 quid. She likes playing 'puter games, and is actually suprisingly good, but throws a fuckin mardy if i kill her in anything. Last time we played against each other was timsplitters 2! Anyway, for coop, this looks good, and the fact it has a medium sized game is ok. We're both a bit 'meh' about halo games, completed the 3 of them and then never played them again.

As for multiplayer, i think halo is duuuuuuuuuulll. seriously dont know how it's so popular. I will play firefight though.

ive never got all that excited about the story either , who cares about babbling Aliens swapping n changing allience mid level , the fickle twats .

tho ODST has a new story element as its set in 1920s europe when people walked in a fast stutter , and women did as they was bloodly well told !!

anyways im really not in anyway bothered if this game ever gets a release

Its one of the few split screen coop games though. so we pretty much had to play them all.
One thing that twists my tits about the series is that epic music does not equal an epic battle.

Where are you getting it for £22?

TBH the main reason i'm getting this is for all the halo3 maps and the hordelike mode it's supposed to have.

I got it from thehut.com. they seem dead cheap, though now its back up to 29 quid. I preordered it about 2 months back, and since the halo reach beta is now included, the prices have gone up.
I find not all, but a lot of their pre order games are under 30.

seems the community are up in arms that there is not match making on Firefight mode !!

well after experiencing Co-oP modes with the odd randooom in games like Halo3,Gears2 and Cod 5 its no big loss surely ?!?

PPL are talking about cancelling their order .... all i say is just get some friends FFS , theres enough of then on there moaning about it !

Its funny ,but nobody seems to have picked up on the point that the game isnt worth getting if you have Halo3 , or for that matter if your friends have Halo 3 because of the following scenario ......>>>>

the players
Frank - (never or bought the map packs for Halo 3)
Harry - (bought the game and played the map packs to death - despite nobody else bothering )

the setting - a cool early November Wednesday evening ...

Frank - (invites Harry to a party) "Hi Harry"
Harry - "now theeeeen Frank , hows things ?"
Frank - "cool , cool ... i just bought Halo ODST , do you fancy playing some Multiplayer"
Harry - "no , i got bored of the game ages ago , im gonna brush up on some Cod coz the news ones about to be released :p"
Frank - "later then, maybe ?"
Harry - " naaaa , ill probably be having some fun on that flashpoint game instead"
