At last I have a new 360. Have recovered my gamertag and all my info has been transferred. One problem though is the games play as if I've never played them. All achievements show in my profile but not in the games. Any way of resolving this or should I stick my old hard drive back on ??
Thanks..

Great guys, thanks for your help. Will send off for the kit as I'd rather use the new drive on the new console....Anyone wanna buy my old one ?! 3 red lights !

Thanks Coco. Great to be back up and running. Will drop you a PM re old shagged xbox !
The red looks awesome and Resident Evil is a cracke, a few nods to the original which I remember fondly. Including looking at stuff and 'nothing to appears unusual here' pops up ! Love it !

Quick Question ragarding data transfer.....

I had a premium that RROD'd and got an arcade and switched the HD over. I'm looking to get a 120Gb HD pretty soon. Can I still use the form (see link somewhere above) to transfer from the old machine to the new machine when I get my bigger hard drive?

It's just neither machine is an Elite.... Also, some of my DLC (eg all GRAW 2 map packs 3.1Gb!) dont work on my new machine cause I downloaded them on my old console. Or do I just re-download them all again on this new machine when I get the new HD?

Ps, Can I buy a stand alone hard drive and connect it through USB to my machine instead of paying £80 quid for the official 360 one? Seen a 320Gb HD for £54.99 and was just wondering....

Cheers in advance....

you can't use the data transfer kit twice, well not between 2 120gb hdd's but you might between a 20gb and 120gb..

also all downloads are linked to you gamertag so just re-download them when you've recovered your tag onto the new hdd

The simply answer is yes but not to be used as a replacement for your 360HDD.
The USB ports are read only and so will only read media from your HD (music, movies and pictures), you wouldn't be able save game data to it or marketplace content.

you can use the kit as much as you like but you can't take anything from a 120 disc to another, legitimately. there are programs you can use but i don't know much about them. if you transfer to a 120 a second time everything you had on it previously is wiped. a quick google will give you info on putting your own hdd in an enclosure which is a lot cheaper. as for external drives you can use one for music and movies but not for gamer profiles or saves/dlc
