has anybody tried this music app out? i remember reading about it and some blurb saying it was going to change they way music is distributed. i only remembered about it after i read a news story saying that user details were hacked. lol. just trying it now and seems pretty good so far. looks and feels exactly like itunes but it plays the whole track for fuck all. haven't had time to test the depth of the artist database just yet but most of the majors and a few indie labels have signed up so it's pretty fucking expansive.

Trying out now and works good at the moment. Bit confused by the site saying that you have to have an invite to download but I just signed up and downloaded it.
Not sure what the difference is between the free version and the paid version when it says the free version is ad supported but I can't see or heard any ads

OK I got a short ad at the end of a track which I can put up with rather than pay £9.99 a month to remove it and I only got one ad out of 5 songs that I listened to.
Also it says if I pay then I get more invites to invite people to spotify, why? when they can just sign up and download it themselves.

i've only tried a few tracks with no ads. there are a couple in the browser not unlike our own on the forum here. there are some glaring omission's, such as a quick search for metallica will give you a load of tribute stuff. not really that surprised they're not in it tho. anyway for free it seems pretty fucking cool and handy for listening to something you just heard on the radio or something.

I like that not only can you search by genere, artist, song and album but also year.
So you can see what was playing when you was born.

I did get a visual ad that appeared on the right hand side but disappeared after a few seconds.
Still not worth paying £9.99/month just to get rid of it

i'm going to start making up playlists for various moods and scenes e.g. chilled out late night, sunbathing, getting ready to go out, rock..... just wondering if anybody else wanted to join in on the fun. spotify would be a good way to share the playlist but if you're making up a mix tape of stuff that doesn't appear on there pop it up anyway. good chance i can get a copy of the track/s.

initially i'm looking for a couple for sitting round the tent at t in the park. so lash at it peeps.

I don't think this has been posted, but this is a good site for playlists in spotify and you can even upload your own to share.

Seeing as most of us use this, I thought it mught be a good idea to post any updates.

**352 albums and singles (including the new Arctic Monkeys single), in total 3,617 new tracks have now been added to the library.
Here is the full list

To listen to a single/album simply copy and paste the URI

**Some tracks maybe unplayable in the UK

Anyone fancy the idea of a Collaborative Playlist a la Last.FM?

I'll get things started

http://open.spotify.com/user/gingerelvis/playlist/5N98F65WLxIUDZgbdS2Ahk

Just add tracks to the list and we share music and we can all be super-super bestest frwiends

Spotify app is now available to those with a Premium Spotify account.

One of the coolest things is that you can download your playlist and play when you've got no network connection, ideal for those with the iPod Touch or crappy 3G connection :-)

The Conservative Party are set to launch an advertising campaign on Spotify.

A 40-second advert promoting the party will launch on Spotify next Wednesday (October 21), featuring chairman Eric Pickles talking about debt and with an additional message that Spotify users should vote Conservative during the next general election.

It is thought that the campaign is the first time a UK political party has advertised on Spotify, reports The Guardian.

The advert is within current political advertising rules, which state that parties are not allowed to advertise on TV or radio outside of the run-up to an election or party political broadcasts.

Shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt said that the party are excited about Spotify's advertising potential.

"The growth of Spotify in the UK has been phenomenal," he explained. "We were particularly impressed with its advertising model and its potential for political campaigning."

i've only just got spotify to scrobble on last.fm i didn't realize it doesn't work on the last.fm app but goes straight to your profile. it also scrambles your password, so when it wasn't working i checked my password only to find it looked wrong. about 20 extra characters wrong. bloody thing!!! working fine now tho so spotify is back in the good books.
