MeatyFiend is indeed a TWAT!!!!!!
Cult comedy Red Dwarf is returning to the small screen this Easter, 21 years since the science fiction series first blasted off.

For eight series, Dave Lister wanted to return to his home planet. Now, at last, he has - in Red Dwarf: Back to Earth.

Written and directed by Red Dwarf co-creator Doug Naylor, the new show reunites Chris Barrie as Rimmer, Craig Charles as Lister, Danny John-Jules as Cat and Robert Llewellyn as Kryten.

The two-part series Red Dwarf: Back to Earth, will kick start a Red Dwarf Easter weekend from Good Friday.

This will be followed by Red Dwarf: Unplugged, a "no holds barred" episode with no sets, no effects - and no autocue.

The weekend will climax with Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth, a behind-the-scenes special from the new production.

The offbeat series, set in space, has enjoyed phenomenal success since it first aired in 1988 on BBC2.

It brought in more than eight million viewers for series eight, sold 7.25 million DVD and videos worldwide, broadcast in some 25 territories worldwide and won International Emmy and British Comedy Awards.

Some of these remakes are fookin shite, and ruin perfectly good memories of a classic programme.

Thumb Down!

Watched the first episode and got to say I hope it gets better. I cant believe they’ve not taped it in front of an audience, or at least added a laughter track, I don't need to be told when to laugh, but it completely changes the feel and dynamic of the show without it.

i was talking to meaty about that exact thing , i hate laughter tracks normally but they are always present in RD and it felt a bit bland without it ,,,, the voice /audio sounded like it was dubbed , tooo studio like and not lie it did in the past ....
the early gags were ok ,but so far id give it a 3/10 from a proper dwarf fan ... Cat dosent seem as loopy as it used to be , the conniving Rimmer wasnt evident and Krtyen hardly got a line .....

ok its a 3 parter and so will be slower paced but i too hope it gets better

episode 2 was much better IMO , it still needs the laughter track tho as there is sometimes a hoeeible silence between gags ,

after the first episode i wasnt hoping for much but after the 2nd it seems to be much more fun and taking piss out of itself as a show ......

Not been impressed with it after 2 of the 3 parts. I'm finding it very lame with the "they've made a tv show about our adventures" storyline. I'm beginning to wish they'd just left it unfinished. :101

overall i found it quite good , episode 1 was poor , but for me it picked up lots ...... it was always gonna be tough to impress after such a good series in the past and all in all they havnt disappointed .....

Like i say this series was made for the fans and with lots of playful jokes and references (in episodes 2/3 i thought it was a fine effort ) not too happy with the way they ended it tho , it lacked a bit of invention (the way that they go back to reality ) - - tho im happy they are back on ReD Dwarf FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
overall 6/10 ---- should have be filmed infromt of a live audience or something tho !

Pleased that didn't happen, would have been a bit pointless making an episode of Red Dwarf with no sets.
