November 19th, 1974 9:30 PM Kokougan District, in front of Makiri mansion. When Hikaru touched David, a string of electrical vibrations passed through the boy’s hand. There were two different tones, one was a short and low sort of spasm and the other was longer and stronger. It formed into a static variation of Morse code and the content was: -.- .. .-.. .-.. / .... .. -- [kill him] Scored: Az Edited by Azedos Sen, Apr 7 2011, 01:59 AM.

November 19th, 1974 9:45 PM Makiri Mansion to Akiyama Apartments Hikaru climbed up the wooden stairs as Haruka instructed. When she reached the top, the hallway ahead of her was pitch black. She flicked the old heavy switch on the wall nearby. It gave a loud click, and the rows of little light bulbs in chandelior on the ceiling came to life in a dull orange colour. Another aspect of the magus that astonished Hikaru. Then again, Hikaru has never met magi that blend themselves in a mundane enviroment. In her experience, magi always locked them in an old castle somewhere, void of modern appliances like electricity and telephones. While Haruka had admitted she barely used her phone, at least she has one, and her outdated electrical appliances still work. She turned the round, bronze doorknob of the room where Haruka said the phone would be. The door resisted. Hikaru gave it a stronger push before it opened just enough space for her enter. The room seemed to a secondary sitting room. She was greeted by a grandfather clock facing the door. Its arms stopped at twenty-five past three. Its pendulum dead still. It looked old, although Hikaru couldn't tell the age. To her right were two dark coloured, leather sofas arranged in right angles. A three-seater aligned to the same wall as the grandfather clock, and a love seat on the farside of the room. Between them was a side table, and on top of it was a rotary dail-phone – an object young compared to the rest of the household, but in Hikaru's eyes, it was just as antique. She dusted the layer of dust away and picked up the receiver to her ear. The line was working. Without any further ado, she dailed the number with the speed as one would with a familiar number. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today was an unexpectedly interesting day. Shizuka thought as she sat in front of her dresser and brushed her hair. It all started when she and Mikan, decided to visit Hikaru at her new place. It was against Mrs. Akiyama's wishes. She warned that from now on it would be dangerous to apporach Hikaru. But what kind of friends would they be if they hadn't even said a hello when a friend moved, especially when said friend had lived in the same apartment as they had since she was eight. Besides, for all their lives they knew magic and magi existed. It was not like they would be caught unawares. In the end, Mrs. Akiyama relented, on the condition that Kyouya accompanies them. The following events showed that the old woman was right. Hikaru was now involved in a situation, where she would be chased by supernatural beings at any moment. Shizuka felt sorry for her. It was unfair that she could now have a break from all the weird incidents, in her nightgown ready for bed, while Hikaru had to endure the possibility that an assassin might upon her at any moment. As she was thinking about this. The phone rang. Shizuka grabbed the receiver quickly. “Hello!” she answered in an excited voice. The person on the other end of the line was not who she expected. “Hikaru?” she asked to confirm. “Weren't you going to that girl's house?” “Ahaha, yeah, I am at her place.” Hikaru didn't sound like a person who was hunted. She sounded as she always did. “Sorry to call at this time, but it's something urgent.” “What is it?” The word 'urgent' made Shizuka alert. “It's about that detective guy.” Hikaru started. Now, her tone dropped to seriousness. “Listen, I can't explain everything, cause I don't know it either, but he wasn't who he seemed to be. You told him where you guys live, so you have to get out of there. Sorry, I should have spotted it sooner, it was my fault that you have to relocate.” The detective? Shizuka found it hard to believe. He had a badge, didn't he? But Hikaru wouldn't joke like this, and not in this situation. And she heard from her dad about fake cops. Suddenly, she felt stupid. “It's okay. It was my fault too. I should have been on my guard. Where do you want us to go?” She moved on. There was no use crying over spilt milk. “To Father Marrone's place. You know, the church. I'm sure he has enough room for three. You guys can stay in the nuns' dorm, and Kyouya can bunk with the guys from Rome.” “Alright, do you want us to move now?” There was a pause. Then, Hikaru spoke again. “It's too dangerous now. There's Masters and Servants out hunting at this moment. Wait till tomorrow morning.” “Okay, I'll tell Kyouya and Mikan now.” “I'll leave you to it.” Hikaru finished and hung up in a click. Shizuka replaced the receiver with a sigh. It was her naiveness that put them in this situation. After a few moments, she picked up the receiver again and dailed. “Hello? Sorry to call at this time.” She said apologetically. “May I speak to Hideki please?” |
