The sudden quake got Lagana's attention, causing him to turn his head to the window with an expression of clear distaste upon his face, without putting down a cup of tea he held. Sipping from it, he calmly observed the cloud of dust and then the steam burst from the underground, ignoring the girls' panicked clamoring on what it possibly could have been. Turning to Hikaru, he simply inquired: "Japan is such an interesting country. Are earthquakes always this common?" Placing the cup down, he glanced out, attempting to estimate the damage done to the field. "Really... this is why I abhor these worms. No manners, none at all."

Hikaru stuck herself to the window. The tremor had lasted for only a couple of seconds, without much damage except for the chasm on the field. "Yeah." she answered David, with most of her attention still on the event outside. "This country has several tectonic plates around it, so we're used to earthquakes." Despite a fact, her voice was filled with uncertainty. "Although," she continued, her voice dropped to a whisper, "I'm not sure about that one just now. A normal earthquake feels like the ground below is moving, all over the place. This one, felt like it felt as if there's a source, coming from the general direction of the steam." She paused, a sudden thought had occurred to her, then turned to the boy next to her. "You said about worms. What do you mean 'worms'?"

"I mean those 11 tunneling idiots who just hit landmine in the shape of our friend Kidu there. Have to wonder if that was a tunnel network or simply some sort of base...Hm." The boy rubbed his chin thoughtfully as he continued his train of thought out loud: "I suppose it wouldn’t make sense if it was only one point of presence, as the target range becomes too constricted, and I highly doubt this thing was meant to be defensive which means... There could be more."

"So we go look out for one of them!" Hikaru exclaimed with enthusiasm lit in her eyes, as if it were a brilliant idea. "Then it would bring to us to whoever that is behind this."

David cast a sideways glance at Hikaru, raising an eyebrow "No, that’s a terrible idea. First, they have the advantage of home ground. Second, they are long gone and by the sounds that are coming from there, the tunnel is collapsed. Looking for them down there is also meaningless... and against the rules. Night only, remember?"

Hikaru stepped backwards from the window with both hands raised in the air, surrendering her idea of investigation. "Okay, fine. Have your way." She returned to the high chair in front of the counter, shuffled in her seat reluctantly, and gave the blond boy an obstinate look.

She took a slice of the freshly baked pizza and chewed. The tomato and cheese and blended into each other perfectly, together with the thin bread, thinner than the ones at Pizza Hutt, the ingredients finely chopped and spread evenly across; it was a divine combination. But she won’t be telling the cook that yet.

At the back of the room, the girls who had come along were still preoccupied by the events outside. Each whispering to the other on what they have seen from their point of view. Most of the consensus of the cause was broken pipes beneath the field. Hikaru doubted any of them would have seen a figure catapulting in the air and crashed on the ground like a boulder. Even she herself, with more acute sight than most, had a hard time catching that glimpse. Had it not been David, she wouldn’t have been able to piece the picture together.

"Heh, don’t get too flustered. Are you really that into jumping in holes?" Shaking his head, David's eyes returned to the field, surveying the communion with a somewhat lazed look. "What classes are after this? I feel a bit sleepy, to be perfectly honest, and if it’s possible to somehow obtain the work and do it at home, that would be great. My Glorious Self just transferred so I should have some sort of privilege, yes?"

Hikaru's fingers twitched. It was a tempting offer. Today was a boring school day, pretty much like any other day, except for the aforementioned explosion. More importantly, she wanted to know more of what happened, and sitting in a classroom wont do any good. "Well...." she started. "No." A pained look creased her forehead. "We can't skip school because I don't normally do, and that would be suspicious, unless I have legitimate reasons."

When much of the commotion outside had been dispersed, the girls scattered themselves at the back of the room, with a couple sent to retrieve their lunch from the oven. Hikaru peered at them curiously, wondering why they chose to leave a distance between her and David. And why they seemed to be whispering in low voices. She caught several words, such as ‘lovebirds’, ‘aren’t they sweet together?’. She coughed.

"Me being tired is not enough of a reason?" Lagana raised an eyebrow, throwing on a tragic look: "How cruel you are, Hikaru. No matter..." He kicked back in his seat, crossing his arms, and raising his eyes towards the ceiling, examining it critically for dust: "No matter... I suppose if worst came to worst, my Supremely Perfect Lordship would simply sleep with his eyes open, a rather useful skill that the ape does not seem to possess."

"Don't make me sound like a bad employer." She leaned over the table, and hissed into his ear. "It's not as you're going to die from this. I have survived for two years, I'm sure you could put up with two weeks."

"I could... but why would I torture myself? Contrary to your belief, I am no masochist."
"People would be suspicious if we bail right after lunch, on your first day. And then there’s that incident. You appeared at the same time as those two. Even if no one can see anything, don't you think someone would actually press some brain cells together and give it a guess?" She took the last slice off the plate and fell back into her chair.

"If they're similar to that class vice-president... No." David crossed his eyes in front of his face, forming an 'X', and then dropping his arms, smiling. "But underestimating your foes would be discourteous… and foolish. I may call him an ape in public, but this 'Kidu' is a powerful adversary. Not to say I couldn’t kill him, but I'd rather kill their suspicions before killing my enemies themselves. Granted... I could probably kill most of the hostiles i noticed today without arousing suspicion, but it’s simply... Distasteful, you know?"

"Let's stick with the 'no suspicion' plan." she leaned against the back of the chair and drummed her fingers on the table. "Is the next batch done yet? I can't think when I'm hungry."

"You want -another- one? Are you sure you don’t want salad or something? This isn't healthy, you know."

"Then why did you make two batches? Salad's rubbish, I hate salad. They taste like paper. C'mon, get a couple of slices here." She tapped on the counter impatiently.

Sighing, Lagana placed two more slices on Hikaru's plate despite his clear disapproval of this rapid consumption of dough. "Either way... Looks like going to school was a good choice - I've got a lot of marks to worth with now, but what to do with them... I suppose first we're going to relocate."

"I'm quite surprised too." She nibbled off one of the pizza. "I thought I'm going to be the youngest, since it seemed more like something between old men with pointy hats. By the way, I like this." She finally admitted.
