I have to write a 3-6 (double spaced) page short story for my creative writing class.. *Sigh* Its sooo short. But, here is what I have. Its a rough draft... Its another world I am working on creating. I'm such a busy girl! ![]() Naievi sat down on a large, gnarled root that had arched out of the ground and created the perfect bench for a weary traveler, or one with a need to sit down. Once seated, she crossed her right leg over her left and began unlacing her boots. After she had pulled off the first, she tapped her heel on the grass and wiggled her toes, and then proceeded to remove the other. Once both boots had been removed, she stretched out and yawned. “What are you doing?” Kimurril asked as he looked down at her, his massive form blocking out the sun and casting a shadow over her. She frowned and waved at him indicating that he was in her way. “I… am taking of my boots. I have been walking all day and I like the feel of the dirt and grass on my feet. It is nice and cool,” Naievi responded, as if it was a plain fact while she raised her arms and meshed her fingers at the nape of her neck, twisting her upper body back and forth, cracking her back and groaning like an immense weight had been taken off her shoulders. “I don’t understand you. Boots are supposed to make journeys like this more bearable,” Kimurril stated as he rubbed the sweat from his forehead. He had been watching Naievi like a hawk since the trip began. He was obsessed, and she knew it. Just like all the other foolish men. It’s how it always was among the Avendi. Not enough females for all the men. It made the competitions between them dangerous at times. Naievi was about to explain the concept behind walking barefoot to the idiot, but thankfully, Eldeiva walked up and pushed him gently, “Come on, move along. Don’t be a pest!” Eldeiva to the rescue! Kimurril grunted his displeasure at being so rudely dismissed, and Naievi sighed visibly once he had turned around and walked away towards the front of the little caravan, likely to go consorting with his insufferable lackeys. She slouched down and then tipped backwards off the root and landed in the grass. She released another large breath of air and closed her eyes, taking in the wonderful aromas, sounds, and even the tastes in the air that were amplified by her aquei, the waist-length sensory tendrils that grew from her temples just above her ears. “I hate him.” She announced, knowing that Eldeiva would be listening, even though she couldn’t see her, and true enough, she was. “I know what you mean… I am thankful I am not yet ready for a pledge like you,” Eldeiva whispered as she leaned over the root, resting her head in her folded arms. “Men can be totally unruly.” “Unruly? Hehe, that’s hardly the correct word for them!” Naievi chuckled, looking up at the golden-haired beauty that loomed above her like an angel. “You’ll have to put up with them soon enough, it’s almost time for your blooming-celebration as well.” Naievi navigated her tail down and underneath the root where she tickled her friend’s leg. Eldeiva laughed and kicked her tail away but Naievi went back at her again, intent on having fun. She felt Eldeiva’s tail trailing gently across her leg. It tickled and sent shivers up her spine, but then Eldeiva moved away from the root and put enough distance between them that there was no way it could have been her… Naievi bolted upright and saw the source of the tickling sensation… She screamed and swatted at the caterpillar, sending the helpless creature careening through the air to land upside down on the ground as she scrambled ungracefully to her feet and backed up against the tree, holding a hand to her chest and breathing hard. She panted for a few moments as she watched as the caterpillar twisted and curled and uncurled until it righted itself once more and then inched its way off in search of who-knows-what. She then tiptoed her way back around the root and joined Eldeiva who was red from laughing so hard. She whipped away a tear and took a deep breath to stop herself. “You’d better not let Kimurril ever see you act like that over such a little thing.” Naievi glared at her as she picked up her boots and began trudging off after the caravan. “Just think of it,” Eldeiva began, and then accentuated her forth-coming speech with a wave of a hand. “Kimurril see’s you like that, and then runs off to his little buddies and spreads the word: ‘Fearless Naievi the Moon Child is not so fearless after all!’ For such a mighty hunter as you that would be terrible! You wouldn’t be able to show your face in public ever again!” Naievi rolled her eyes, “No one would ever believe him anyway.” “No, probably not. I doubt anyone would care anyway. Never know what little tiny creature could kill you in an instant out here. Its best to be safe” Naievi made a sound of approval and folded her arms, her boots looped over them. “Mighty hunter, eh? It was a miracle that I survived all that… I can’t believe everyone still makes a huge deal out of it.” “How can’t they?!” Eldeiva half-shouted, obviously shocked at her friend’s ignorance. “You are the only person in the history of the entire Iahe clan to have actually killed a Qual’nari on their first hunt!” “It was pure luck…” She shrugged. “If my arrow had not hit it in the throat, it’d like have killed me right then and there, but instead it decided to run off and bleed to death. Everyone that was with was confused as to why it didn’t actually just claw me to bits. It’s what they normally would do.” Eldeiva grunted. “Don’t take your accomplishment so lightly. I bet if you brought it up to Kimurril he’d get all flustered and try and tell you how large and dangerous a creature he has killed.” “No doubt… he’d go on about his scars and blah blah blah. Ugh! I just wish he’d shut up and find someone else to pester. He’s about as dumb as they get and its soo hard to find a male with anything in their skulls. They all seem to be taken right away,” Naievi sighed and looked over at Eldeiva. “We should probably go join everyone else. If we aren’t there when Kimurril decides to pester me again he’ll send some search party and that’d just be embarrassing…” Eldeiva nodded. Kimurill could cause so many problems sometimes… |

| Lulz, it's pretty good. Though it's funny that your creative writing class has a six page maximum on the short story where that's the minimum in my class. >.> |
I happen to know for a fact that Unicorns puke rainbows.

| Its a beginner's class. I think there are only two other people that know how to write in the class aside from myself. |

Certainly very am- I personally liked it, and you added a good creative concept to it. Your teacher should like it. My minimum in Highschool was always 10 pages as a minimum. Hence my vendetta against writing. |

Why thank you! ![]() He usually likes my stuff. Asked me if I had plans of being an actual writer after I turned in my first writing assignment. I puffed up like a turkey and strutted around all proud of myself. xD |
