I'd like to elaborate some more here, and also give an objection first: I don't quite see how the demons bound to objects would "tire" out, as they are not exerting themselves in any way (save, maybe, for those bound to objects with animated parts that would be powered by the demon itself, such as, say, a motorcycle that doesn't require gas, or for objects that create or destroy matter, such as a bow with infinite arrows). Their energy is merely being used, with or without their consent, by their binder in a manner such that it enhances the desired qualities of the object that they are bound to, as becomes defined during the infusion of the demonsoul into the object. This "usage" is a simple interaction (and thus contact involving "structural stress" so to speak) and/or expenditure of the demon's soul energy. As such, if projectiles are fired, part of the demon's soul, and thereby the demon itself, is "expended" as it is transferred to the projectile and lost with it, and if projectiles are being faster than the demon's natural capability to absorb surrounding energy, then the demon itself will weaken and eventually die. In the case of a weapon where there is no such expenditure, such as a sword, then "usage" of the object/weapon merely causes something similar to structural stress seen in physical molecular constructions, which in this case affects the cohesiveness of the demon's soul. As such, combat can last for extended periods, but things would work similarly to physical weapons used against physical targets: A piece of metal hitting other pieces of metal (read: demon-bound sword slashing demons) will eventually weaken structurally from the intense stress at rates depending on the relative solidity of the two materials. The same first piece of metal hitting a piece of a much harder material (read: the same sword slashing repeatedly at a demon champion) will dent, fail to perform its desired task, and eventually break and/or shatter from having the structural weakening cause the sword not to be able to sustain the short but intense bursts of structural stress any longer. Whew... *short pause* Basically, what this all means is that it depends largely on the format of the weapon, and in the case of a sword there is no such thing as "Oh wait we've been fighting for five minutes so my demonsword is exhausted, let's take a break". However, if that sword is being used against things that are as strong or stronger than it is itself, the binder has to be careful or will otherwise damage his own weapon in the process of trying (and usually not succeeding too well) to slash through his enemies. Well, that sure was a long bit of technical lore I went on about there, but I felt it was necessary to explain more in detail what (I believe) Feather meant. There's also some much more elaborate principles of volume, mass, density, etc. with the usual complex formulas that could be taken into account (though they act in a manner quite different from actual "real world" matter - for various reasons, not the least of which is the total absence of "particle interaction" - such as gravity and electrical attraction - in these things; the specifics of just how this kind of energy works or even exists are still beyond the knowledge of any Massarum to date, and for whatever few of them actually care about such details there is no most prevalent theory yet, only occasional hypotheses that are rarely even heard of). TL;DR: u kan use a swrd wit a demon in it liek ud use a normal sword, but insted uf takin in2 accnt teh swrds metal vs teh demons "flesh", taek in2 accnt teh bound demons dansitee agins target demons |

GAH! *head explodes* I will read this next weekend for shizzlez. That means after my exams are done and I've finished worrying about capstone I'll read this. Though, I'm highly tempted to sy I'll join. Not sure what my schedule will be like or if any of the other RPs I'm in will prevent me from joining this one. >.> |

Okay, I finally got around to reading the proposal, aaaaaaand...? Not much to say beyond what others already have, but you've only changed my impression for the better. I really love the concept of 'RPs in an RP'. It actually reminds me of Seeds' forum-wide RP in a way, though this definitely feels more structured and focused, something the other one lacked (even if partially my fault...). The character creation idea sounds interesting, to say the least, too. If you can make this work and keep it going, I'll definitely jump in when the opportunity presents itself. I can only wonder what kind of character I'd get... [Ponders.] Honestly, I hope this works. Considering how the forums go through phases of activity and inactivity at times, as well as how often some of us disappear and then miraculously come back, this RP seems really adaptable. I just hope people don't take too much advantage of that.

| I made it how it is specifically because there aren't a huge amount of members active all the time. With its structure, it'll be able to just keep going regardless. |

| Yeah, kudoz to Feather for coming up with a format that, though initially ambitious, can be easily adjusted to fit the needs of even a forum community like this one. |

+1 for me! Also, I am working to organize information for character creation, so those who are interested could start working and maybe figure out if they would like to become dedicated to this roleplay. |

Well then.... I didn't read the character creation specs all too much, but from what I got, I can be a swordsman. If I play my cards right, I can be a really really skilled swordsman with reckless abandon. (WOOO!!) So I have a couple more questions on the basis of demon possessing and such. For starters, do the demon's abilities have to coincide with the desired abilities of the imbued weapon or are we(and by we I mean the binders) able to manipulate the demon's powers to procure the desired weapon abilities? Are we able to possess a weapon with more than one demon? If so, what would the outcome be and what benefits or drawbacks would develop from the occurrence? Does the strength of the weapon and its material directly relate to the strength of the demon? Would abilities such as "incredible reflexes" be incurred by imbuing one of the said weapons? Would the demons be able to possess items other than weapons to give those special enhancements? Is there a minimum or maximum limit on the item size, varying from demon to demon depending on power? (e.g. A high level demon can/cannot fit into an amulet) Can the demons be fused with humans somehow? (question derived from the Devil May Cry series where Dante has the arm of a demon) Are binders unable to use other powers as effectively (Special classes to mark with certain weaknesses traded off for certain other strengths)? I'm sure I have more questions, but for the moment, I have run into a thin supply. So please enjoy the hellfire of questions I've just assaulted you with. Your patience (hopefully) is appreciated. Thank you. |

1.) Basic abilities such as just cutting demons or other little things of that nature will be inherent to almost all demons, you could probably think of other weird things you could do with a demon imbued weapon such as releasing a short burst of energy around the blade of a sword or something (but I assume something like that would probably injure the demon in some manner because a demon uses its own body and soul for such things or cause your sword to go boom), realistically, things like that would be possible, but if you wanted to light your sword on fire or shoot lightning bolts or something (which idk if itd be possible, but little things of that nature might be) you'd have to have a demon that has that sort of capabilities. Most demon summonings are random, but if YOU in particular are looking for something to suite your needs or wants, its probable that it could be worked out. Rule number one of this roleplay 1.) Not all demons are created equal 2.) This was a topic Frank and I were discussing and we came to a conclusion that it would be impossible for such a thing to occur. There are a rare off-shoot of mages that we have just devised known as Shapers who will be capable of working with demonic matter directly and could somehow manage to fuse two demons together and then allow them to be shoved into a sword, but we haven't discussed that stuff in full yet. Most binders do not have the ability to control demons like a summoner will, and as such they would require assistance of several different Massaru members for such a thing to happen. 3.) Idk about incredible reflexes... You'd have to bind the demon to your body, and then in that case, you're screwed. So, not likely a thing that will be happening... unless you want to die... which would do you no good... Rule #2.) Binding demons to humans = bad 4.) Yes, addressed in a previous post. ^.^ 5.) Size does not matter (not a sexual joke), but the density of a material will. The more of something a demon has to take over, the more demon can fit. So, you could either get a really dense substance, or a really freaking large-ass thing. 6.) Already answered in rule #2 7.) Binders are a specific classification of Massaru, and some people will be unable to perform things that other classes will be able to just because that is how they are, though some Massaru could be part one thing and part another. It depends on the nature of their body, their soul, and their inherited demonic essence. Hopefully these answers were sufficient. |
