Together with DaFranker, I envisioned a world that could be matched by very few. The possibilities of what to do with it were limitless and I began working on it immediately with a passion I doubt will be matched again for a while. The beginning of the story takes place in Japan where two long time friends meet up again after having realized their foreign exchange programs had actually put them at the same school, in the same town, and almost in the same neighborhood. They were not the only Americans in the school, but there was a girl who caught their attention almost right away. Her name was Miranna Shrysani, daughter of an extremely wealthy family and had a father with a penchant for doing great things.

Davian and Ezekiel, more often referred to as Dave and Zeke, wasted no time in hooking up with this girl and they quickly became friends. Not long into their friendship, they were walking down a street towards the mall, and, while away from everyone else who could have possibly noticed, were attacked by small demons who came through a portal right in front of them. The demons were almost as surprised that the humans could see them as the humans had been seeing demons, and they had merely stared at each other for a moment, but then the demons acted and during the ensuing conflict, Miranna released a burst of strange energy, flinging one of the demons off of her and stunning it.

During the pause that followed the blast of energy, two humans rushed out of the portal that the demons had come through and destroyed them. They almost dismissed the three humans before them and left, but they demanded to know what was going on. The two who had come through were of the Massaru, a powerful group of humans empowered by strange energies, and they were certain these three before them were destined to join them.

-- -- -- -- -- -- --

Long ago, in another world that is referred to merely as the demon world, a war broke out between several of the mighty demon gods. On one side, there was Aeros, who had minor aide from several other gods who were looking to gather favor with him if he actually managed to pull through, and on the other was Vulcan backed by the might of Tachja. The fighting led up to the Altar of Aeros where he had ascended to godhood and while Kajiri, the last remaining demon champion of Aeros fought valiantly to defend the altar and her god, she was unable to stand against the champions of Tachja, Kachirichim and Zhyadar. In the end, Kachirichim held Kajiri off long enough for Vulcan's champion Tanja to destroy the Altar, and with that, Tachja, the God of Creation and Destruction destroyed Aeros.

With the death of Kajiri and Aeros, the god's power was released in a violent explosion which tore a mighty rift between the demon world and the human world and Aeros' power flowed through, landing upon the unsuspecting people of ancient Babylon. These people, who gained the power of the demon god, fought back against the hordes of demons that poured through the rift, and in the end, they were victorious, but only a small fraction of them remained. They eventually became the Massaru. Humans who had gained demonic power long ago and found it passed down through the ages and now serve as Earth's protectors against the demons who constantly try to come through the world between the worlds.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

This was in the past - five years ago to be exact, and now, further in the future, events are once more unfolding. The Massaru, weakened by the demon wars, have been searching hard for new recruits to bolster their ranks. On the other hand, the demons, who are now mostly godless, for only Tachja and Yirkiru remain (though Yirkiru was destroyed, her champion Beldanroth is working to revive her to full power), are at odds with each other - most forming little factions dedicated to their perished masters, or merely coming to serve new powers that might eventually rise to become gods.

In a recent struggle, the Devourer of Souls, the mighty God-Champion who had previously served Yirkiru, lead an attack against Tachja. In the battle, Zhyadar matched up against the mighty demon and Kachirichim battled against the powerful Beldanroth, eventually coming to a stalemate when the Devourer of Souls became uninterested once more and left Beldanroth to fend for himself. The battle had been the perfect cover for Kajiri, who at the beginning of the Demon Wars had been revealed as a captive of Tachja to escape to the human world where she figured she would be safe enough to bring Aeros back.

This was not to be, because upon her escape, Tachja revealed themself as Tyravean, the previous goddess of creation and Achrynoth, the god of destruction. In the past, they had joined together to become Tachja when they had been pressured by the other gods and nearly destroyed for being too powerful, and as such used the guise of Tachja to rise to power once more. These two mighty gods opted to not send their champions across to find the renegade, but decided to go themselves instead because not only were they upset, but they were mildly curious to what the human world had in store.

Now, the demon gods were in the Human world, and they brought their conflict with them. Unfortunately, they are lost and are of little use while they search of Kajiri who fares little better and have left the Massaru to deal with the ever rising hordes of demons.

That's the basic concept written at 2:00a.m. so it's probably not the greatest and likely doesn't contain everything you want to know, but whatever, you'll learn that all later if this is accepted as a roleplay.

Anywho, the roleplay will be somewhat freeform, where the players will take the roles of new Massaru, and in some cases will also be allowed to take the roles as demons as I (or Frank if he decides to help) see fit in order to make some of the roleplays a little more interesting. The basic structure for posting will be as it usually is, though the way one joins the roleplay will be exceptionally different.

The formatting is going to be as follows (supposedly):

Massaru Recruits:
Roleplays that are found under here will generally be geared more towards the Massaru recruits. They will more often than not be used for drama roleplays as opposed to combat. At least that is what I have planned.

Example: A roleplay is started by myself, who in this instance is using a recruit along with Franker and someone else. We have a desire to roleplay a standard day of Massaru training, and as such, it would be found here.

Massaru Veterans:
The Massaru Veterans is still a tentative group, but will be used more for Lore and working with the Massaru recruits.

Example: A Massaru veteran, such as Miranna, Dave, or Zeke is going out on patrol through Irkallu, the world between the worlds, and has offered to take volunteers with them. Some recruits might join up for field training or just to get out and see whats going on.

Minor Demons:
Minor Demon role plays are likely going to roleplays started by myself or someone else given permission to use demonic characters and will be geared towards combat and interaction between Demon and Massaru.

Example: I start a roleplay along with maybe one or two others who have been chosen to be demons and we are causing trouble in the human world. Several Massaru recruits along with a veteran may show up to combat them.

Demon Champions:

Demon Champion roleplays will mostly be lore, though sometimes they may involve things in the human world or Irkallu that might be worthy of note. Some of you who have been given the honor of controlling demonic characters may be promoted to controlling demonic characters more full time as well as the Massaru recruit if you show promise and dedication. In here, you would possibly interact with the Demonic Champions and would find most of the events that happen between demon and demon here during the Demon Wars.

Example: Zhyadar or Beldanroth is leading a battle against the opposing faction and your demon has been selected by one of the mighty champions to fight against the enemy.

Demon Gods:
The Demon gods are in the human world, and your recruits are unable to stay in Irkallu for too long. No one really is capable of being there for more than a few days at a time without resting in the human world for Irkallu saps the strength of the bonds between soul and body. The demon gods will, without a doubt, interact with your recruits at some point in time. Things may get hostile, and things may not. If one of your characters gets into a bit of a tiff with one of these buggers, assume they will not make it out alive and you will be starting over.

Example: Tyravean and Achrynoth are lost and have absolutely no sense of direction. They are searching for Kajiri and as such they might show up anywhere in their search, be it at the school where the recruits may attend, or at a mall they may frequent, or just in some alley where they bumped into each other. Always be on your toes.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

Each poster will gain a sort of mini-dominance/DM status over their own roleplays that they start. They will have the ability, the honor, and the duty of controlling all factors that will progress the story. While I may, and likely will, partake in a great deal of these roleplays, I will not interfere with the duties of the mini-dm's, and as such, will act as any other player might. Though, if asked for assistance in DM'ing I can offer help. Other players should also defer to these DM's for most worldly happenings unless given permission to take more liberty.

In each roleplay that is started, there will be preference options. They will be as follows:

Open or Closed

Open: A roleplay is open to anyone to join if they meet the right requirements.

Closed: The roleplay is private and no one is allowed to join.

-- -- -- -- -- -- --

Status: Recruiting, In-progress, Finished

Recruiting: A roleplay that hasn't really gotten underway yet and is looking for people to join up. Feel free to join this roleplay if you meet the other requirements.

In progress: The roleplay is underway, you would likely need permission to join. The only people who may join an in progress roleplay are members of an opposing faction if the correct requirements are met.

Finished: A roleplay that has been concluded and is no longer in progress. It will be locked and no one will be allowed to post there any longer. If a roleplay has a noteworthy effect on the overall world and might influence things in other roleplays, it will be stamped with a [lore] tag to indicate it might be worth looking and a summary of noteworthy material will be posted at the end.

-- -- -- --

Encounter Ratings: Friendly, Neutral, Hostile - 0-100%

Friendly: Friendly ratings will indicate that a roleplay will not include any opposing faction members. Only members of the same group, Massaru or Demon, may join this roleplay. The percentage this rating is stamped with will indicate the likelihood that another member is likely to join aside from the original members. 0% rating will indicate the chance of another person joining the roleplay is very unlikely - permission would likely need to be had at this point, though it is not closed. This more or less represents a drama roleplay

Neutral: Neutral ratings indicate that members of either faction may join the roleplay. Percentage ratings will indicate the likelihood that a member of either faction is going to join. 50% being equivalent to a friendly or hostile 0% in that permission will likely need to be granted and some sort of arrangement made for entry. 100% indicates that a like-faction character has a higher chance of showing up while 0% is the opposite.

Hostile: The opposite of friendly. 100% indicates that the group is almost certain to be encountering other members from the opposing faction, and very unlikely of finding their own. It basically indicates that it is a combat roleplay.

-- -- -- -- -- --

Characters in the roleplay will be highly dynamic. They will not be static by any means, and will gain power as they progress through roleplays and the player becomes more attuned to the world. Periodic changes may need to be made as your characters psychology may be affected during progress, their appearance may alter slightly, their power may increase or decrease, or other little details might need mending.

Character sheets would include an introduction in a story-like manner which will be the basis for your character sheet. The section beneath a character's introduction will be a quick recap of things that might need addressing, a log of stats and roleplays they take part in, character preferences, background information, etc.

Here is an example of a character introduction for Tyravean and Achrynoth, after which I am finished posting for the night because I am tired and have class in the morning. ^.^

The dark alleys were not always the most peaceful places on the planet, though generally deserted, most feared to venture there for the danger they posed was great, especially after all the disappearances that had occurred over the last few years. Lately, it was rare for anyone to venture out alone at all, but a child was sick and a worried mother rushed to get medicine to ease their pain and it turned out to be a bad decision.
She knew she was being followed or at least watched and that the danger she was in could be exceptionally high, so her pace was rushed. Almost at a run, she was taken off guard by a large, burly man who jumped out of an alley right in front of her just as she looked back over her shoulder to see if she could spot her pursuers. She tried to scream as she ran into him, but the man wrapped him arms around her and squeezed tight, taking her breath away before throwing her into the alley.
She rolled across the ground, ending face-first in a puddle of what she had hoped was mud, but the smell was far different, it was undoubtedly garbage that had leaked onto the street from the old, ragged black bags that were nearby. She recoiled instantly, getting up to her knees and trying to back away, rubbing her hands on her pants as she did so, but as she moved back, someone’s arms wrapped around her own and hoisted her into the air. She tried to scream again, but a fist smashed into her stomach, driving the air from her lungs again.
“Don’t worry, as long as you don’t try screaming again, you’ll get out of this without any more pain. We’re just going to take your money and any other valuables and if any of my friends might like, they might spend a little time with you,” said one of the ruffians as he moved out in front of her.
He was no more than a member of a common street gang, wearing a sleeveless jean vest that exposed the tattoos covering his arms over a dirty white undershirt. His jeans were torn all to pieces and covered less than a pair of shorts might. His hair was jelled back, something that was uncommon, or maybe he was just that unclean and greasy – in the gloomy alley it was hard for her to tell. The one thing that did catch her eye though, was the glint of metal in his fist. It was a long, curved knife that showed sign of recent use.
“It’s in my purse, take it all if you need to!” she yelled, and as she finished, the ruffian backhanded her across the cheek, putting stars in her vision momentarily.
When she looked up, she was too dizzy and her vision too blurry to see what was happening anymore, but the arms that were holding her up loosened slightly and she was swung forcibly to the side and released.
“That wasn’t very nice of you,” a girl somewhere nearby stated.
“Who the hell are you two?” the main ruffian demanded.
As she pushed herself back up off the ground, the woman see clearly again, and at the end of the alley stood two people. Their appearances were hard to make out at first due to all the light being behind them, but her eyes quickly adjusted and she could see they were very interesting in appearance.
The first was a man. He was extremely tall and lanky, with spiked, black hair with pale gray tips and highlights. His face was narrow and his features well defined; his eyes were a lifeless gray, his ears slightly pointed, and his teeth were sharper and more like fangs than standard human teeth which were well displayed by the fiendish grin he wore. His body was lean and lightly muscled, his skin rather pale, almost a gray, and he stood with a sort of arrogance that made him seem a little more dangerous than he appeared, which was very dangerous.
He was dressed in all black. A long sleeved shirt underneath a black vest with a bushy, dusty-white furred collar that was left open to expose his chest, a pair of black denim jeans, a dark leather belt with a silver skull for the buckle, shiny black boots, and a pair of dark sunglasses pushed up onto the top of his head.
Next to him stood a young girl, with blonde hair and blue eyes, and similar angular facial features. Her eyes with bright and full of life and just looking into them made the woman’s pain alleviate. The girl was absolutely astonishing in her beauty, and it would be hard to imagine how much more she could be if she wasn’t covered in so much dirt and dust.
Like the man though, she was a bit taller than your average female, and really skinny. Thinner than most with less than a womanly figure. She did not have the wide hips common to most females, nor a very hourglass-like figure, but she did have some breasts hidden underneath the black tank top she wore under a black, long-sleeved, zip-up sweater that was left open and dangled on the very edge of her bare shoulders.
She also wore a knee-length plaid skirt of red and black, a set of three dark belts that hung on her ridiculously scrawny figure, attached to the skirt on her right hip and left to dangle on the left side down to her mid thigh. Beneath her skirt she wore a pair of mid-thigh high black stockings that were torn and ripped in several places, and a pair of raggedy sneakers.
At the time, the woman could not see the emblems on their backs. The girl had a large, elaborate, gothic style silver-crucifix wrapped in leafy green vines. In the upper crooks of the crucifix were two red roses that offset the darker colors of her overall clothing. Behind the Crucifix was a pale sunburst that barely stood out, and across her shoulders read “creation”.
The man’s emblem was very similar. It had the same crucifix, though cracked and dull instead of whole and shiny. The vines were brown and dead and the roses were withered and lifeless. Instead of a sunburst, the crucifix was wreathed in flames, and across his shoulders read “destruction”. Without a doubt, they made quite the sight.
“Just a couple of strangers looking around,” the man replied.
“Is that so, well, hand over your valuables and we’ll give you the grand tour,” the ruffian leader stated mockingly which got a chuckle from the others.
“We don’t need your help,” the girl growled, almost inaudible.
The man held out a hand, “Oh, calm down Tyravean, we’ll find our way out of here eventually.”
The Ruffians laughed, “A couple of lost foreigners, eh? What a surprise, you’re all stupid. Now hand over any valuables you might have.”
“I think not,” the man replied.
The ruffian flashed his knife briefly, “Hand them over, or things will get bloody.”
“Bring it,” The girl taunted.
The ruffian leader looked over at her and sneered, “Stay out of it girl, if you know what’s good for you.”
The man next to her roared with laughter, “Go ahead, try and hit her with that little pig-sticker of yours. See how well it goes.”
The ruffian looked over at him briefly, and then rushed her, angling the knife for her gut. She charged back at him, smiling broadly and, just as the knife was about to cut her, she gracefully swirled her hips mid-run, angling her body around his arm. They slammed into each other and, to the woman’s shock, the man was stopped in his tracks as the girl wrapped her arm around his, leaned backwards, snapping it at the elbow and planted her foot on his chest, pushing and sending him flying onto his back and in less than a few seconds.
The ruffian hit the ground screaming, “Help you fools!”
A kick to the jaw from the girl was enough to silence him, for good.
The other ruffians looked at each other and rushed her, and just as the first was about to get to her, the man came out of nowhere, jumping into the air, spinning, and kicked out and smashing his boot against the lead ruffian’s face, crushing his jaw and toppling him to the ground. As he careened through the air, the girl rushed around the man’s back, ducking a blow from one of the ruffians and punching him in the stomach with a force enough to knock him from his feet.
The last remaining ruffian stood face to face with the man, who was standing with his hands in his pockets, “Alright big man, you and me, shot for shot, let’s go. You go first. As hard as you can.”
The big ruffian hesitated momentarily and then struck out with all his strength behind a single punch that connected with the sound of crunching bones. The ruffian recoiled with a howl, and the man smiled, “My turn.”
The blow delivered by the man impacted so powerfully that the huge ruffian bent over double before he was launched through the air. When he landed, the woman could see that his midsection was torn apart, as if impacted by a shotgun.
The girl, named Tyravean stepped forth, and in her hand grew a rose for each of the ruffians. She dropped one onto each of their bodies, and then under the gaze of the man, they wilted and died. The girl frowned momentarily and then turned and walked away. The man lingered for a moment and then followed.
“Maybe we should find a map,” the man offered.
“Maybe you should just shut up…” the girl growled in response.
As they turned the corner, the woman glanced at their backs on last time to see the words destruction and creation switch places momentarily. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hands and looked again, then shook her hand and ran towards home.
The next morning, the odd deaths were all over the news. It had people wondering if the time of the disappearances was not quite over yet…

Heh, I like what I see so far, Feather. Unfortunately, I don't have time to read it all at the moment, but you obviously put a lot of effort into this RP, and it caught my interest. Just don't expect much else from me until after Christmas, though (damn classes...) and best of luck until then. >_>

Regrettably, I have the same problem as Grunt. Actually more so.

I have already committed my vow to Bush's RP which I still haven't gotten into yet. I'm waiting until my Christmas break to do anything. Good RP though.

Definitely seems interesting. I'd like to give it a go if you get enough people interested.

Looks pretty good so far and I'm sure you've got plenty more information you could post. There is only a few drawbacks one being the scale of the whole thing (The project is large and would require lots of people or a few hyperactive ones). Overall I throw in my support for it.

Ha ha! An RP that's more anime than the RP based on an anime. That's brilliant.

I call the obligatory Hot-blooded Hero of Justice character. I know just who to be, as well...

I do have a lot more information, and I doubt I'd really start it right away, but also, the good thing is, because the way I set it up, you wouldn't have to join it right away. Also, when you're busy, you wouldn't be required to be posting all the time. Due to the nature of it, if you start a roleplay with someone who is not as active as other people, you can pick and choose other people to start a second roleplay with while continuing the first at a slower pace.

Yes, that's basically what my own reaction was to the scope. However, I believe it could be fairly easily adjusted for gameplay closer to a regular D&D party, said party simply hopping along and its "rating" and "status" being altered as the story/RP progresses.

I also don't see this throwing the players in an overarching long plotline of doom - it would work, again, more like in many D&D RPs (especially those based in Forgotten Realms) where the party is merely doing adventures, maybe even following a larger quest, but the true events of the world continue to happen as they do with or without their intervention - though of course, if the players happen to meet with Tyravean, well, the storyline *might* just get completely changed. Or not at all, depending on whether or not Tyravean took more than its mere presence to obliterate the players ;)

As for the character creation process, it seems Feather left that quite vague. I have quite a few chores that need to be done by three hours from now, so I can't really elaborate either yet, but expect me to give more details on that in a little bit.

On a more story note, the jump between the ancient babylon lore and the "this was in the past, five years ago to be exact" could be a little confusing, but to clarify: It's the part with Zeke, Dave and Mira that was five years ago. The babylon thing happened... in the age of Babylon, duh ;) Otherwise the whole RP happens in modern-day Earth... though of course, you'll rarely if ever see an actual gunfight between soldiers of two armies in this RP. You're much more likely to see Fate/Stay night -ish stuff than army stuff.

We have quite a bit of lore concerning the Massaru and such things (Massaru, among other things, being old akkadian for protectors, defenders, gatekeepers of sorts - hence why they are called that). A single member of the Massaru is a Massarum or a Massaratum, depending on gender. Of course, with my love of linguistics, this is far from the only thing I dug up from the Akkadian language. Some of my translations/interpretations might be completely wrong, but hey, it's not like we have an Akkadian translator/expert on hand here to help me with it, eh?

On that note, I must leave now. I'd talk a bit more about this, but there's housework to be done and caeks to be eaten.
