He probably did put a lot of work into compiling. I'm not saying that he didn't put the work in. And somehow I knew that the Grail Wars would end up being dragged into this. But far as I can tell, Azedos took the concept and the area and built on it further. There's a fair amount of individuality put into the work meaning for just as much he took he put in his own blood.

I don't see that here, I'm sorry, nothing against this plan or any other before or will come after. But is set up and handles like a battle mode D&D session. Nothing wrong with that, and I'm not saying it can't be good. But a copy is a copy. If he can show something different then I will support him wholeheartedly. Story wise there is no life, there is not randomality, it just the same thing to be carried out by the same means and the same vessels over and over again.

That's why I made the duck comment because all he did and you are preposing is that he just call things by different names and everything's different. With the Grail Wars, efforts were made so that there would be varied results. Not to mention that F/SN was more story then game in the first place. And that's the bone I'm picking at, the primary goal in it is not to shoot up or stab other humanoid beings with a speckle of story here and there, it tells the story of the war and the magi. It's not like you actually control the servants.

I'd like to remind again that this is only my opinion. Take it or leave it. And I mean no harm or ill will by it. To anyone. :)

I agree that I'd rather this RP be based on a more story-lined role. Like I said before, if I wanted to do this to shoot stuff and go stabbity stab stab I'd go play the game.

Azedos Sen

It's not the fact that the RP is based on an already established universe. That's fine. It's that that Halo universe, period, is dry and dull. Even if you changed all the names, it would still remain the same collection of sci-fi action cliche's that make it what it is; namely boring, uninteresting, and generic beyond all belief.

The point I was trying to make was if he made this entire thing without once mentioning Halo, people would have taken more interest in it. Everyone seems so turned off by the simple mention of a word.

Azedos Sen

Please don't passive-aggressively push your own opinion on the people of this forum due to a flawed view of logic, especially one focused on a sentiment that no one ever expressed. No one ever said they didn't want to join because the RP used an idea from another universe. They specifically said they weren't interested because the universe itself was dull.

Crimson may have meant this in a different context, and if so I am sorry, but otherwise, it appears he is showing those sentiments you say my flawed view is based on.

Personally I think it's more fun to make your own universe rather than use someone else's idea.

Furthermore, the only words I've heard thus far Azedos, other than from you, are how Halo doesn't suit them. If someone took a similar setup, changed a few things, maybe mixed two different universes with their own concept and then labeled it something completely unrelated to Halo, something everyone thought was self-made, it would be more appealing. There is a certain feeling expressed with the relation of the word Halo ever since the game came out. Because the franchise was overused everyone tends to find it boring and out-of-date. Very little of what bungie had made was "cliche" when it was created. In fact, they made most of it from scratch, linking to other things only by the fact that there was an alien race involved.

Please know I was taking no cracks at anyone or any specific RP's. I was just trying to show how the word "Halo" gives a skewed concept of how people view related matters.

Ultimus, I agree that I'd rather a story-based RP rather than PvP based RP like that of the Halo games. I actually first assumed that was what he was doing when I read it. I have not reviewed it since, so may be mistaken.

Damn right I'm biased, but I just have a different opinion than Ultimus.

But in all seriousness I really just meant it's easier to make a good RP if you make everything up yourself because in the end it will have a lot more originality. You can make an RP based on something else, but it's a lot harder to make it fun to play. Especially if what you're basing the RP off of is know for having a really lame story line.

Get back on subject or I'm going to ask an admin to shut this down.

Well, I see a lot of work put in to this, but it's a no go for me. I'm not much a Halo fan. Not much a shoot-em-up-bash-em-up-kil-em-up RP fan either, well nless it's really well done.

So yeah, good luck and hope you get enough players.

Btw, try taking some of the advice some people have put up here. You'd be surprised at the ammount of change that can happen to their opinions based on a few tweaks from their comments. It's not a garuntee, but it can happen. :)

Ummm.... Reyv, technically, we are part of the administration... *coughs* Okay people nothing to see here except an RP proposal.

In all seriousness, RTM, try revamping the storyline so it reflects a story and strategy based RP rather than a PvP type deal. Since the majority of the Covenant is on the human side anyway, there really isn't any need for a PvP setup. Also, making a new enemy that has been unseen thusfar would possibly make for a good story.

I suppose we are putting you through a lot of work that may end up unnecessary if you don't get enough responses anyway. So, lets call a vote. Anyone in favor of joining the RP if it is revamped say so. Also, if you have any tweeks to add that would make you want to join, let that be heard as well. We don't want to go astray from RTM's idea too much, because it afterall was his idea and his work put into this.

So how many people are interested in this? I'll accept it, but I need to make sure the number of hopefuls are enough for RTM's tastes. At that point, I'll need the GM to PM me (or another admin) the sub-forum's specifications so someone can make it.

Ok. I looked at this once again, and I noticed that it was quite a bit off from the original idea. I edited the information, bringing it back to what I originally visioned it as.

The majority of the community here sees this rp through a misconception. THIS IS NOT BASED ON THE MULTIPLAYER ASPECT OF THE GAMES, NOR IS IT SOLELY BASED ON THE GAMES THEMSELVES! Just because you hear the word "Halo", you automatically assume that this will be based as a pvp rp. WRONG! This rp is based on both the games and novels, where the plot is split between both sides. One plotline is for the UNSC, during the discovery of Earth and the other follows the actions of the Arbiter and the Elites. And both sides will rarely encounter each other.

And I do admit that I was a little wrong at trying to push it as a pvp rp. My ideas about this had changed since I last looked at this.

Just because everybody assumes that all halo-based rps will go for pvp, they don't realize the potential of the actual plot. Maybe this would help you understand the story a little more.
