Bodies falling Heaven’s calling The rapture cries The horsemen ride The scorched earth Lies black and red The bodies fall And cry in vain Why is this The way it ends? A single kiss Atheists They accepted death Refuted lies Feet on the ground Lips connect When death is bound Love is found -------------------------------------------------------------- Corrosive Towers Failing powers Flailing limbs Ripping flowers Dragging down Into the grave That with which Was meant to stay Their time is done Their lives are gone But rotting still They taint what’s good Bodies in landfills |

By fire's light And fireflies Catastrophic butterflies A single flap Their wings shall beat You'll be dead When next we meet Another time A different crime Before the third The flames did leap It curled up Inside the heat And burnt away Just like this day Always this way If anyone knows what the hell that means, please tell me. >.> |

Stick to writing things in the middle of the day when you're entertained. As for interpreting your second poem... Uh... Err... ... Don't do drugs. |

If you write lines of random phrases that occasionally rhyme and have roughly the same number of syllables consistently throughout each verse, I suppose you could stretch the term poetry to cover what you've created. After all, by merit of poetry's very definition we have poetic license, which allows us to interpret things differently based on our own perspective. However, I personally believe that if you string together a few lines with complete negligence to their meaning, you've created nothing more than a few random lines of text. A child can accomplish that much. Poetry, on the other hand, should express a meaning. While the message doesn't need to be clear, to write something without any desire to create a message to begin with is to disregard the fundamental concept of poetry and do little more than provide a farce to entertain the ignorant masses who applaud and cheer a few rhyming verses because they don't know any better. If you have to ask someone else what your poetry means, you aren't creating poetry. In fact, the person creating the poetry would be the one who defines those words, because without meaning, you've done nothing but place letters, numbers and punctuation marks into convenient places. If you scribble on a piece of paper and someone says it looks like a cloudy sky, who created the picture of a cloudy sky? Was it the person who scribbled without the intent to create anything, or the person who created a meaning out of something that had none? Just something to think about... |
