Lirek entered the building with extreme caution. He could feel the presence in the building and it sent shivers down his spine. He began to regret being sent by his boss to investigate the rumours that were spreading through this town. From what he was told people where disappearing for no apparent cause and up to this date no corpse was found. He had concluded that it was a rouge controller causing all the disappearances. He had sent his partner to get back up, but he could not wait any longer. He summoned his gun and loaded it with stun bullets. He had no desire to kill any of the missing people. His gun glowed a hue of purple, meaning it was fully loaded. He slowly walked through the first floor and found it empty. He could feel that something was wrong. He entered the stairwell and made his way up to the second floor. As he approached the door, he heard movement. He slowly opened the door to look inside the room. He closed the door and released his weapon. He had miscalculated how many people were taken. The second floor was full of people. He sat down on the ground and tried to calm himself down. He had hoped that that he would never meet a death controller. He hated controllers that slowly killed the ones they controlled and then used their corpses for weapons. He had seen at least a dozen corpses in the first room and there were many more rooms to go. He knew he had to take care of the controller before backup came or they would all be lost. He got up and ran through the information he had. From what he understood, the people were hypnotised by an unknown method and came here of their own free will. He got up and opened the door. He entered the room pretending that he was being pulled by an unknown force. He saw that the bodies moved out of the way. Before long, he realized that he was no longer walking of his own free will but actually being pulled against his will. He analyzed the spell and noticed that this was not a simple spell, but a complex one that he would have trouble breaking. He decided to let it lead him along the way. He counted the corpses that he passed and was shocked that there were so little living people left. He pushed his anger aside and hoped that it would not resurface itself. He entered a room devoid of any controlled beings. He guessed thus was the room where the controller did all his work. He stopped at the center of the room and noticed the spell disappear. He looked around trying to find a window or any other escape route that did not lead to the corpses. He noticed a window and ran towards the window as fast as he could. He fell back as he hit an invisible wall. “Master, this one is different from the rest. He ran for the window instead of the door. I think he is one of our kind. I just cannot figure out his ability or his level of power. Should we try to make one of us or make him a slave,” a voice said behind Lirek. Lirek turned around and looked to see who was there. All his strength disappeared when he saw the face of the man who was talking. He knew this man well. He had meant this man once before, when he still lived with his parents he was invited for a ball. He had only seen him once but he knew right away that this was the same man. His father had told him his name was Tamesis, and he was never to be trusted. It was only a few days after the ball that Tamesis disappeared and to this point was never seen. Tamesis walked up to Lirek and lifted up his chin. He examined every bit of Lirek. He chuckled when Lirek flinched at his touch. Tamesis pressed Lirek fully to the ground and smiled. He then got up and returned back to where he was earlier. “Do you think you can control him Tamesis? He looks like a fighter, and possibly a threat to us. I do not desire to change places again,” another voice said. “Do you not trust me master? Have I ever failed you or lied to you. Either way I have decided to make him my pet. He has great potential to be a dark being. All I have to do is pull him from the light.” “Fine. Do whatever you like, but do not come crying to me when everything goes wrong. I’m going to make preparations for the others that are to come later.” Lirek watched the shadow walk away wishing he would see the mastermind behind this all. His comrades were going to walk into a trap and he had to help them somehow. He gathered his strength and took his mind of Tamesis. He placed his hand on the invisible wall and focused his power to break the shield. He could feel the wall cracking, but he knew the longer it took for the wall to break the closer Tamesis would move closer to him. He felt the wall shatter and he ran towards the window. Tamesis stood in front of his path to the window. Lirek spotted a corridor and ran towards it. He resummoned his gun and checked the cartridge. It was still loaded with the stun bullets. He ran into the corridor and turned around and waited for Tamesis to turn the corner. When he saw a saw cross the corridor he started to shoot at the target. He took a step back as his target got closer. Why are my bullets not working, he thought as the shots continued. “I see. You are Lirek, aren’t you. You are just like me. An outsider in their world and an outsider in ours. Why don’t you join me? We can be partners if you want.” “You lie. You betrayed the dark beings and then you disappeared. I have not. I am still loyal to the light royal family. I will not betray my family no matter what they do.” “Fine, but I will tell you that you will come to me one day asking to join me. When that time comes you will not have the privilege of being my partner. We beings of both light and dark will never be accepted. I should get going, that fool will be caught today and I do not plan to be around when that happens. Oh and using level one stun bullets will not work against a summoner.” Lirek then watched Telesis walk away. He emptied his gun of bullets and leaned against the wall. What was wrong with him, he would normally go after the target. He looked at his gun. He wished he had an evolved version of his gun, with this one he could fire up to level 3 bullets. He summoned his strongest burst bullets he had. He needed to kill the controller to free the still living people. He waited for the gun to glow red before he would go challenge the controller. His gun glowed red and Lirek broke into a run entering back to the main room. He lifted his gun and pointed it in the direction that the second man had spoken from. He slowly walked into the corridor and stopped in front of the door. He knocked and waited for an answer. “Come in, I’m done anyway,” a voice said on the other side of the door. Lirek opened the door, looked in picking out his target, and fired. He unload all his bullets before pausing. He then pressed himself against the nearest wall waiting for the smoke to clear. When the smoke was gone he looked in hoping to see a corpse. What he saw was a man still sitting on his chair and corpses on the ground. I need more power, why won’t you evolve. I need level 4 weapons. He slammed the bottom of his gun to do a quick reload and he shot again. He unloaded the next set of bullets and loaded again. This was not working he needed more power. He loaded his gun again and fell back one-step. He was losing his this fight and his slaves would be here soon. He unloaded this round and paused. His gun had overheated and he dropped it on the ground. His gun had never done that before. He quickly pressed himself against the wall not waiting to see what happened. When he heard nothing coming from the other room he looked in to see what had happened. The whole room was obliterated. He knew that level 3 bullets could not cause this much damage. He walked over to the corpse of the controller and dragged it out of the room. Lirek looked at his watch; his backup should be here soon. He walked to the door to the staircase and collapsed. He must have used too much energy in the fight. The last thing he remembered was the door to the staircase opening and someone walking through. He closed his eyes and fell asleep. |
