Character Name: Segenam Lightfoot
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Height: 6”0’
Weight: 184 lbs
Description or Image of Character Appearance: Segenam is a tall, mesomprphic male. His skin is a light shade of brown which tans heavily in the summer. While his shoulders are broad and his arms larger than average, he is not particularly muscular. His face is not particularly attractive and recently, has been growing facial hair in patches- which he shaves with all of his heart to avoid embarrassment. If anything, one say that Segenam is, “average in every way”. Unless, of course, they were looking to his long straight black hair (which reaches the middle of his back). He wears this in various ways, but most often, it is simply tied together with a band two inches above the ends allowing a tidy, but relaxed style.
His clothing style, when not in uniform, does not often stray far from his gray, sleeveless hoodie over a plain dark-colored T-shirt and a pair of jeans. In the winter, he wears thick animal-fur-lined clothing in earthy colors. Always with him is his armband which contains two hawk’s feathers bound tightly on his left bicep as well as his shamanistic rattle which he keeps on his belt.

Occupation: Student
Grade Level: First Year
Powers/ Abilities:

Astral Form Projection: Through Segenam's shamanistic training, he has strengthened his spirit to the point where he can physically manifest it in our reality. This allows him to create a translucent orange astral form in the shape of his body which can vary in size (from a shell being slightly larger than his body to a two-story goliath in his future) as his powers grow. The spirit itself is slightly more resistant to physical attacks than a regular human’s body- but not invulnerable. The projection is roughly as resistant as a human body clad in heavy chain mail meaning it can absorb some blunt-force damage and resist cuts slightly, but cannot fully stop piercing damage.
Segenam requires a few moments to fall into his shamanistic trance. It is from this trance that he is able to project his spirit. Currently, he cannot manifest this form anywhere but around his own body. Whilst in his astral form, Segenam’s strength is enhanced beyond that of his physical form, allowing him to lift smart-car-sized boulders and toss them a few feet. When used offensively, the Projection can chip away at concrete and brick with repetitive strikes.

Astral Bow: Through further shamanistic training, Segenam has learned to quickly shape his spirit into the projection of a translucent orange bow- as well as conjure the arrows for it. This bow is as effective as a modern recurve bow and simple arrows. The bow is an extension of his own spirit, but it is not tethered to his physical body as his Astral Form is. If rendered unconscious or dead, the bow will dissolve.

Weakness: Segenam is spiritually connected to his Astral Projections and he will feel any damage inflicted upon them. If Segenam’s is rendered unconscious, even for a moment, the Astral Projections dissolve.

Abilities: Knowledge of natural remedies, salve and potion creation, as well as other non-combative rituals, visions, and

Personality Description: Segenam generally keeps to himself, often practicing his rituals and trances alone when he can. This does not mean that Segenam is anti-social, though. Often he finds himself wandering lazily when bored and will generally seek out people who he can laugh with.

Personal History:
One morning as dawn was breaking upon a small town in the plains of Montana, there came sounds of a child’s crying. A mother’s sigh of relief and a father’s reassuring words could be heard soon after. The once quiet town’s people soon leapt to life as the young child was brought into this world. The grandson of the shaman he was- and would later that day be dedicated to the earth. His grandfather had the responsibility and honor to name the young boy. Raising him to the Earthmother while in his shamanistic trance, he spoke a name. The Earthmother had buried the name into the grandfather’s heart… and called him, Segenam.
Segenam grew up on the Native American reservation just outside the limits of a major city. His father, Bromiir, was a semi-wealthy businessman in the city; and his mother an artist in the town. Bromiir had forsaken the old ways of Shamanism when he turned 19 and set out to college. Mysticism and “magic” were too heavy-a-burden to keep secret for him. He much more enjoyed numbers and stocks. Therefore, he wanted his son to have nothing to do with the ways of the Earthmother. But when he Segenam was young, Bromiir would leave for work early in the morning, and Segenam would go to his grandfather’s home to play whilst his mother painted in their own home.
After his eighth birthday, he would come home from school and practice rituals, potion-making, and Spirit-strengthening trances and techniques with his grandfather’s supervision. This continued until the point where eventually, his grandfather would no longer be able to teach him the ancient ways of The People and the Earth. Instead, Segenam would sit with his grandfather at his bedside and practice and show him his progress. Always, his grandfather was pleased… But in time, when Segenam was 14, his grandfather went to be with the ancestors. Before he passed, he handed him his two-feathered armband which he always wore on his left, wrinkled bicep. He spoke softly to him as he handed Segenam the band, “Take this and go out to the plains and make for yourself a staff. There, you will see your destiny. As I pass, you will come full into your power. This is now yours until you rejoin me with the ancestors. Do not forget the ways of the Spirit. Strengthen it daily, and do not forget to honor the Earthmother.” With teary eyes, Segenam said goodbye to his grandfather.
The next morning, after his grandfather’s body had burned to ash, he set forth to the plains, forsaking his father’s wishes. When he returned six days later, cut, bloody and sunburnt, he held for himself a staff of the finest wood. Atop it sat the freshly cleaned and sun-bleached skull of a coyote male. He had found the powers his grandfather spoke of… He couldn’t believe them, but he knew the color of his spirit- Orange.
Segenam took a leave of absence from his school that year to train in the wilderness- returning only once every two weeks to his home. He was mastering his powers and using them to hunt, to heal the sick, and to even fight that which threatened his home.
When the year was up, Segenam wished to return to school. But not the one here in the plains. One where he could learn and improve himself. There was a place the Earthmother willed for him to find and attend. She spoke of Hyakuji High School and their “unique” people and troubles which flocked to this place. He set out after a week with his family and friends to find this place. As he passed the gate to leave his home once more, he breathed deeply though his nose. As he released through his mouth, he spoke.
“Hyakuji, hmm? Well, I am sure I shall be tested here…”
