Yuki is built… very femininely. See, he does his best to train every day and works out pretty much every day. But for some reason, he hasn’t been getting any less… feminine.

Occupation: Student
Grade Level: 3rd Year
Equipment You Have:
Akashic Records: Durandal.

Durandal is an extremely potent database of information carved into a long katana. Every piece of publicly accessible information is stored within it, and it is constantly updated as human knowledge grows. A simple way to explain is looking at it as the Internet compressed in a single tool, although the knowledge is more vast than even that. It can even store the memories of human beings, but they must willingly transfer their knowledge to Durandal.

However, it’s a far-cry from being the actual akashic records. It is limited by human knowledge, and while it can compute and calculate things within the fraction of a second, it can never go beyond what we already know. At the very most, it can combine pieces of information in interesting ways that regular humans cannot.

Durandal itself is powered by an artificial intelligence. However, this intelligence is kept exceedingly minimal, which is one of the reasons it cannot grow beyond it’s own bounds. It has no personality and can only fulfill requests. It responds to them in a monotone, male voice. It can both project the sound outwards and into Yuki’s mind. It can also project the information it has stored into text, appearing on holographic pages that float around Yuki’s body. However, the information must be transferred, although the information transfer can happen whether Durandal has taken shape or not.

In combat, Durandal is an extremely potent support partner. He is very capable of quickly analyzing anything that falls within the bounds of logic and helping Yuki make a plan to counter-attack. However, again, he must help Yuki through speech, meaning that his reaction time is not instant. Durandal can only see what Yuki can see, so he cannot warn Yuki of any surprise attacks, merely of ones he already knows but might not understand.

Durandal itself is unbreakable, honing it’s name. It is attached to Yuki through special means, and he can both summon and de-summon it whenever he wishes, even if it isn’t in direct contact. Furthermore, as an AI, it is capable of ‘possessing’ and ‘hacking’ into electronics if it’s brought into direct contact with them. Durandal cannot access any electronics with sentience, however.

All around, Durandal is an irreplaceable partner to Yuki, and an important important important important important import̕͠a̵̛n̡͏t͘ i҉̷̸̕̕ḿ̵͝p̵̨̕͘͠ó̢҉̶r͏̛́t̵̢͝a̶̵͘n̶̢͟҉͡t̴̡̧

Mysterious Entity: Luna
...But Durandal isn’t the only intelligence that exists within Durandal. Ten years after it’s creation, or 6 months before the current time, something else was found to live inside of the Durandal. A playful female personality. One with her own mind, her own will, and her own heart- someone who identified herself as Luna.

Durandal itself possesses no knowledge of what Luna is, and Luna herself isn’t willing to divulge that information. She seems to be a mostly playful personality, just teasing Yuki and often refusing to help him. She even possesses some limited ability to alter the outside world, including changing the form of Durandal and altering Yuki’s appearance, something that no one quite understands how she does. She can also control, specifically, her own body and Yuki’s arms and hands.

Luna is SIGNIFICANTLY less helpful than Durandal, and she might not even share access to the same database as he does. However, it is certain that she can hijack away from Durandal whenever she wants.

...Furthermore, she seems to have settled on a perfect appearance for both herself, as a staff instead of a sword, and Yuki, as a little magical girl. Luna has the tendency to randomly take over and just as randomly transform his appearance and voice into that of a little girl.

LUNA, WILL YOU STOP IT!

Powers/ Abilities:
Originally, Yuki’s power was energy projection. As the name says, he used to have the ability to project energy in whatever way he wanted to. The creation of Durandal changed this. All of Yuki’s powers are constantly flowing through Durandal, even when it isn’t physically on him. This is the reason why Durandal is capable of storing so much information, and also the reason why he doesn’t seem to require any outside power source to function.

In essence, Durandal is a parasite to Yuki’s powers.

Durandal and Luna both have their own special way to project Yuki’s power, and neither can encroach on the territory of the other.

Absolute Defense

Durandal’s version of energy projection is linked to it’s heavy analytic abilities. If he sees a move once, he’ll be able to project a shield with the exact properties to best nullify the attack the second time he sees it. This costs a surprisingly minimal amount of energy, too, barring extremely powerful moves.

HOWEVER. Durandal can not, ever, defend from a special ability the first time he sees it. He always needs to analyse it, as the construction of a barrier is a very fine process and a single error will cause it to give zero resistance. Furthermore, it can only stop an ability up to the shown limits. So if someone fires an attack at 50% strength, Durandal will only be able to stop it to 50% strength.

Physical attacks work differently. While projectiles, of guns and the like, are easier to stop than powers as they are more behavent to the laws of physics, it’s extremely difficult for Durandal to stop a punch or a kick, because of how much variety a human has within their own attacking strength. Durandal’s shielding abilities completely fail in hand to hand combat.

Stuff like guns are easy to reflect by Durandal because he knows their specs. If it’s a home-made gun or something outside of the bounds of public information, though, Durandal simply needs to see it fire once. Thrown objects as as difficult to stop as punches and kicks, unless Durandal has a good four or five seconds to prepare. He might not stop a knife-toss, but an avalanche is easy enough.

As a final limit, Durandal needs to create a shield per attack. If someone fires ten fireballs, he needs ten shields. Ever shield breaks after a single, full attack, meaning that cleverness easily beats out the AI.

Absolute Offense

Luna’s version of energy projection isn’t nearly as absolute as Durandal’s protection, but she likes to pretend it is. Basically, Luna can focus 5 tons of force. It can go into either a hand, into her form, into a kick… well, basically into anything. It can even be shot as a projectile, or as many projectiles! However, the full five tons of force must be used in quick succession, and it’s pretty draining to generate this strength. All projectiles take the shape of orbs, varying between the size of a tennis ball and the size of a football.

Not using all of the force within ten seconds, maybe two or so posts, will cause the remaining strength to explode in Yuki’s face. This can have dangerous results. When the force is actually summoned, doing anything with it will not cost Yuki any strength.

In essence, Yuki can use it like telekinesis, too. But he must use all of it to avoid a backfire. Yuki can charge maybe five or six times a thread, so he needs to use his force wisely. Theoretically, his limit is higher, but that comes at the risk of draining the energy he uses to maintain Durandal.

Personality Description:
Yuki’s a fairly ordinary student, aside from the influences Luna and Durandal had on his life. He’s a bit shy and awkward around girls, but quite talkative around men. A girl (other than Luna) talking to him is a good way to get him nice and flustered.

He’s fairly intelligent, but not especially so. Because of Durandal taking the need for thought out of his hands, he’s not all that good at school subjects. He pretty much cheats his way into having perfect grades in everything, but he’s decently capable of learning things himself, too! Something he recently needed to learn from Luna’s bullying.

Yuki is… not very athletic. He likes sports, and he really enjoys running around in PE class and doing things in general, but his body isn’t all that well-built for physical things. Try as much as he likes, he won’t be anything but average in sports! He’s simply cursed with non-athletic genes, it seems...

However, he can sometimes have a pretty short fuse, usually when Luna’s bullying him or when Luna’s around in general. He doesn’t like getting angry, but when he does… he’ll probably yell for a few moments, before realising oh god he yelled and shutting up.

He’s fairly lazy. Obviously not when it comes to things he enjoys, like sports, the occasional manga, and the occasional games, but he’s ridiculous when it comes to not doing homework. Given that he has Durandal, he has the perfect excuse to not do anything ever, but still…

...Oh, and he’s pretty naive. Luna being a bit of a jerk broke his worldview in a few ways...

Personal History:
Yuki’s history was nothing special before he acquired Durandal. His family was normal, aside from the fact that his father was a scientist, his mother was fairly normal, and his older sister was fairly normal!

...Luckily, he got Durandal when he was six years old. Durandal was designed to be an AI running on supercomputers that could quickly analyse and communicate data. It did this fairly well. It was extremely good at ripping data from the internet, analysing it, and responding to questions when they were given!

...Well, it was just that it required an unfathomable energy source to operate, as well as an ever-increasing memory size. It was perfect at it’s job, but that just meant that it was unfeasible to actually use it. It was way too expensive to maintain, and manual labor was just more efficient. It was theoretically a scientific breakthrough, if it wasn’t just completely impossible to use!

Luckily, the scientist that developed it had a son that could solve both of these problems! The Durandal was linked to Yuki’s powers, Yuki’s powers over energy forming a sort of infinite memory and power buffer for Durandal to utilize. And thus, the artificial intelligence and Yuki were linked!

Durandal had no shape at this state. It was merely an artificial intelligence linked to Yuki’s energy. It got it’s current form when Yuki ‘pulled him to reality’.At first, Yuki could shape him however he wanted to, but after a few weeks, Durandal had taken over his powers enough to make that impossible.

Over the coming years, Yuki basically lost his own power, in exchange for being a nigh-infinite battery for Yuki. It’d be nice to say that the AI and Yuki befriended each other, but, well…

Durandal has no personality. He isn’t a true being. He’s nothing but an infinitely big database. For the first few years of his life, Yuki wished to do that. But then he wisened up. Computers have no hearts, no souls, they can’t think, they can only compute.

Yuki’s live continued on normally, occasionally being dragged off to watch science happen so Durandal could learn more. He was a straight A student in school and then pushed to join Hyakuji over some more prestigious high schools simply as it’s more of a learning experience for Durandal.

...It was all relatively normal, until, in his second year, Luna somehow entered Durandal. She offered no explanation. One night, Durandal was just itself, and the next, Luna was just there. Waking up Yuki with an extremely high pitched whine before spending the coming while just… bullying the poor kid.

Luna likes pranking Yuki whatever chance she gets. Either by transforming him, by all around bullying him… or just by being a jerk. The teenage highschooler suddenly stopped having a normal life when Luna started to liven it up...

Mashed Potatoes?
Scientific examination has proven that there is, in fact, no spoon.
