Carver was standing with his back to the wall. It seemed like the crowds were quite busy today, it was the perfect day for him to refill Carnwennan's 'memory' with the guises of people from around the town. Surely they wouldn't miss a couple of drops of blood and they could serve him much more effectively then they would serve the owners. "So many to choose." He casually remarked to himself as his eyes scanned the crowd. He had concealed the blade under his cloak, there was little more that cause panic then someone noticing someone holding a weapon.

He had to admit though that finding a useful target to take a drop of blood from would be pretty difficult in the middle of the crowed. Even though the crowd did manage to allow him to sneak up on people easier it also managed to give him away. After all there weren't really that many people that had cloaks on but his cloak would dramatically reduce the chance of whoever he targeted to follow up on him after he tried to escape.

He observed the crowd's looking for a suitable person, since he was quite new to the town he decided that it would be best to try and grab as much of a variety as possible and then work from there onto the more notable people of the town. It would end up making his activities around the town much simpler if he had a few different persona's to play upon.

This kind of activity was often frowned upon whenever he used it but that was because people were worried that their reputation would be sullied. Often Carver would leave a letter explaining the situation as he was taking his leave of the place, granted in this situation it would be much more difficult. He just had to hope that he wouldn't get caught. If he did then he had to hope whoever he talked to was forgiving enough or even generous enough to let him go ahead with the situation. Honestly, the chances of that were extremely small but he needed to fill Carnwennan's memory anyways so it was worth taking a risk.

Shin never liked crowds, the noise and constantly moving people dampened his senses. They were a perfect spot for someone to perform a sneak attack from. His assailant could simply disappear into the crowd afterwards. But alas, grocery shopping needed to be done.

He probably stood out in the crowd. There weren't many people in the area with bone white hair and bright blue eyes. His left hand was currently holding onto a bag of groceries, his right was currently resting inside the pocket of his jacket.

To all the world he was just a normal defenseless teenager out shopping. If it wasn't for his hair color, not many would suspect that he possessed unusual abilities or was a trained fighter. Shin found this surprisingly refreshing. It was nice to pretend he was a normal boy. If only for a short while.

"There is an interesting target." Carver smirked as he watched the boy who was carrying groceries, while he was already a student at the school Carver needed a disguise to perform any actions which could get him into trouble. "Guess I better get going then." Carver kicked off the wall and quietly made his way through the crowd towards his target, he'd save his cloak's power for when he was retreating, if he used it whilst stalking him then he'd just notify the target to his presence where as the crowd was currently hiding him.

Slowly he approached the white haired boy quietly apologizing for stealing his guise. He draw Carnwennan out from under it's sheath, a black mist surrounded his body successfully hiding his identity. With this it was easy to escape without himself being found out but he still had to manage to get away from the boy.

As he approached the boy he quickly attempted to make a light cut across the boy's arm, even so much as a single drop of blood would do for it's purpose. Regardless of whether or not the blade managed to draw blood Carver quickly turned away and pulled the hood over his head concealing his presence.

Placing Carnwennan back under his cloak Carver began to walk away quietly but not quickly, he didn't want to give himself away more then he already was by being covered in the cloak which was originally designed for hiding in wooded areas not downtown of a city. Still, there was always a chance that he could be passed off as simply a cosplayer if he went with it so hopefully he wouldn't be found out otherwise that would end up being a major pain in the ass.

Even if it was only a light cut on the arm that was resting in his pocket, it still alerted Shin. The boy's combat reflexes kicked into overdrive. He spun around trying to identify who cut him. His eyes scanned the crowd quickly looking for who it could possible be.

The hooded figure who was walking away form him seemed suspicious enough. So hoping his guess was correct, Shin darted backwards in an effort to get closer to the boy. If he got within range quickly enough, he would stop running and his shadow would lash out across the ground in an effort to trip the boy up by seizing his foot and pulling sharply.

If the boy was alerted and managed to escape the initial bind. Shin would pursue, he was reluctant to bring out his blade in a crowded area. Perhaps he could chase the figure into a nearby alley so he could have a 'chat' with him in regards to his assault on Shin's arm.

Carver knew better then to ignore someone that he had just cut so he noticed the boy making a rapid movement towards him. He picked up his own pace just as he noticed shadows moving across the ground. "Another powered person, huh." Carver commented to himself quickly making his way through the crowd shoving past people. He had some experience running through the middle of a crowd but it still slowed a person down.

Turning quickly he noticed a nearby trash can, he threw it behind him in an attempt to slow his pursuer down. It seemed like this was going to be a fun chase, he hoped that his pursuer didn't have some kind of super speed going on otherwise that would end up screwing him over but he assumed that wasn't the case.

The crowd was starting to stop and turn around to see the commotion but Carver kept on shoving through them in an attempt to get away from his pursuer. He couldn't trust that the person would even let him live after taking a few drops of blood. If he did get caught it could very well spell his end for all intents and purposes, it was definetly the more wise move to try and avoid being caught.

And the chase was on. Despite himself, Shin grinned and discarded his bag, it would only slow him down.

He caused the shadows under his feet to propel him upwards at an angle to get him closer to his prey. He managed to launch himself over the crowd. Not only did it give him a vantage point, but it also allowed him to get a better view of the person who cut him.

He couldn't make out who it was. They were obscured by some kind of black mist. Shin could determine no features. Landing past the over turned trashcan and softening his fall by rolling. Shin continued his pursuit, all with a mad smile on his face. It had been quite a while since he actively pursued someone like this. Shin really hoped he wouldn't have to kill his prey.

He kicked off the ground running. Weaving through the crowd, he had little trouble with them since they saw that he was pursuing someone. Plus Shin was extremely acrobatic and flexible. It was barely any effort for him to keep up.

If he kept up this pace, he would catch up to the figure that nicked him easily enough. Once he got close enough, he would try and steer them into a nearby alley where they could 'chat'.

Keeping note of his pursuer Carver frowned, it seemed like this one wasn't going to be gotten rid of so easily. He just had to remain calm and be careful, he would be able to deal with this situation if he managed to do that.

Quickly breaking into a full sprint to get some distance on his opponent he turned into an alleyway. If Shin was to enter the alleyway he would find it unusually empty but filled with boxes and bags. Truthfully Carver was hiding underneath one of the bunch of bags, he sat there quietly trying not to move hoping that the cloak would help cover his detection.

*Squeak*

With another rustle of the bag something furry brushed by Carver's face, it took him a moment to realize that it was a rat. Without even thinking he jumped out of the pile of bags most likely into Shin's sight, a bunch of rats run out of the pile of bags away from it. "OH GOD." While he yelled that amusingly Shin wouldn't be able to hear it due to is cloak.

Turning to look at the entrance to the alleyway Carver pulled his hood off. "You're damned lucky." The voice would be heavily distorted, another factor from Carnwennan to hide his identity. "Go ahead then, try and kill me." Carver held Carnwennan in front of him, whilst Carnwennan wasn't meant for combat it didn't mean that Carver wouldn't use it to try and defend himself.

The figure had run into an alleyway. Perfect. They had gone right where Shin wanted them to go.

Entering it a few seconds after his prey. Shin paused upon finding an empty alley. Had his quarry some kind of teleportation ability? Perhaps some form of invisibility? No matter what it was Shin was wary. They had completely disappeared from his sight in a matter of seconds. His hand twitched at his side, as if it was ready to draw a blade that wasn't there.

He was about to turn his back on the alley in an attempted to trick his quarry into thinking he let down his guard. He jumped into a combat stance, instinctively summoning his sword when he heard the rustle of the garbage bags as the figure jumped out and pulled a knife on Shin. Daring the boy to try and attack him.

Shin had no intention of killing the figure. At least, not until he got some answers. He instead smirked at the figure. "If you insist." A tendril lashed out, seizing a nearby garbage bag and throwing it so that it would fly over the boy.

He then sank into his own shadow, traveling to the shadow cast by the garbage bag as it flew over the boy. He would rise from the ground behind the figure, his sword poking into Carver's back. "Before I do so. Mind telling me why you only cut me once?" His tone was light-hearted and curious. "It's rather rude to attack someone and not at least attempt to finish the job."

Of course Carver would be ignorant that's Shin's blade was blunt to him, a normal human. And the boy may have still tried to run away as Shin stepped through the shadows or when he threw the bag.

Carver ducked under the bag and prepared to move forward only to notice his opponent gone, he felt the point of a sword at his back and cursed. "Shit." It seemed like it was game over for him, to think he hadn't even managed to do half the things he wanted to do in his lifetime.

It was then that his attacker asked why he only cut him once, a smirk came across his face. "I only needed one cut." It seemed like this boy was curious, Carver decided to indulge him a bit if only to get a potential situation where he could try and get an opening to escape. "That's true if the intent was to kill." He commented dryly, the smirk still present on his face.

He refrained from mentioning the need for blood otherwise he'd probably end up with a sword through his back. Most people associated blood retrieving with something demonic or evil, Carver would've loved to see their face if they realized that it was for King Arthur's dagger. He wondered if they would all sing a different tune then.

"Of course I'm sure my mere mortal reasons are irrelevant to such higher beings." Carver said bitterly, let it be known even when facing death Carver still couldn't hold his tongue about his dislike of powered individuals.

He only needed one cut. The most logical assumption would be that he needed Shin's blood for something. He intended to find out why. Was this boy an enemy of his clan? Perhaps he was after the sealed power of Malphas and needed Shin's blood for some ritual?

More information was needed before Shin could act. He needed to know why thisfigure needed his blood.

Perhaps it would be best if he engaged him in conversation to know more. "Higher beings?" He parroted, his tone still light and conversational. "My my, but we both seem to draw unusual abilities from certain objects. I am as mortal as you are." He lightly poked the figure in the back with his sword as if to say he drew his power from the sword. "I have my sword and you have your cloak. Would I be correct if I said that that dagger had unusual properties?"

Of course that was a lie. Shin drew his power from an internal source. But the only people who knew that were Jack and Selene. He trusted Jack to keep his mouth shut and Selene would find herself on the end of his blade if she blabbed.

"Tell you what." Shin mused, his shadow creeping forward so it was ahead of the figure, ready to spring p and prevent escape."Perhaps if you show me your face and tell me why you cut me. There is a much higher chance of me letting you go."

"Tsk" Carver frowned, it seemed like he wasn't simply being alright with he just needed a small amount of blood. That and he was trying to sell his powers as originating from his sword. "Sure that's where you get your powers from." Carver spoke sarcastically, he wasn't buying it.

In all his readings there were no swords which by themselves allowed the wielder to manipulate shadows like he had seen the boy do, there was also the fact that the sword had appeared out of thin air. Carver wasn't an idiot, if he saw the sword on the boy's person at the time then he would've gone after a different target. "What is it's name then?" He inquired, it was a test, if he said a sword that Carver did know then it would be easy to prove him wrong.

"Fine." Carver sheathed the dagger and the shadows followed with it, he turned to face his target and looked him in the eyes. "This dagger." He gestured to the now sheathed weapon. "Needs a regular supply of fresh blood from multiple people, just a drop is enough to satiate it." He wasn't exactly lying, just fabricating the truth somewhat. "If it doesn't then it drives the wielder to madness." Carver narrowed his eyes at Shin.

"Let it go long enough without it and it'll attract people to take it and drive them mental." He wasn't sure if this lie was going to be taken as truth but it was worth a shot. "It's a family heirloom and I don't trust anyone else to handle it with enough respect and care to manage it's danger on their own." He crossed his arms as he pinned his gaze on Shin's own. "Is that suitable?

"It doesn't have a name. It was recently forged by my grandfather as a gift for me." Shin lied flawlessly, making a mental apology to his beloved grandfather for using him as an excuse. "What is your dagger called? If you don't mind me asking?"

Shin studied the boy's face, committing it to memory. Hmm, it needed regular feeding of blood otherwise its wielder went insane. Of course the boy may be lying just like Shin. "That sounds rather dangerous. Would it not be safer to simply destroy it?" He tilted his head to the side and smiled widely. It was hardly a pleasant smile, more mocking than friendly. "You may also wish to be more careful in the future. There are many people in this city who would be far less forgiving than me."

He snapped his fingers and dismissed his blade. "Tell you what. Perhaps if you tell me your name I'll let you go." His eyes narrowed very slightly. "Perhaps we can find someone who can safely dispose of the blade of yours. There are quite a few people in the city with impressive abilities. There are also quite a few accomplished mages who may be able to help you."

If the blade was truly cursed and was such a risk to his sanity the boy should be happy to get rid of it. If he declines the offer, then Shin would know something was wrong.

"What method of forging did he use? Infusion or adaptation?" He was making it up as he went along, none of those were actual methods of forging equipment with abilities. Hell they actually could be but for all of Carver's knowledge they weren't. Regardless if his question was actually answered then he'd know for sure that he was being lied to now.

"It's Carnwennan." Carver spoke, in the Arthurian legend the dagger was mentioned only a scarce few times and it's name was mentioned even less. Only someone who actively sought out the item in texts would be likely to find it's name.

When he suggested destroying it Carver's brow furrowed, he was afraid he'd try this. It was a good thing that Carver left himself an escape rout. "I told you already, it's a family heirloom and if it was that easy to destroy I'm pretty sure we would've found a way to destroy it by now. We take care of a lot of magical items." It would be rather hard to find out whether or not he was telling the truth. "And it's rude to ask a name and not give your own."

"Like it or not, this " He pointed to the dagger. "is staying with me, I don't trust anyone else with it and clearly I'm not a dangerous individual otherwise I would've slit your throat when I had the chance no?" He finished speaking waiting for Shin to respond to his points, he was seriously contemplating just running now it seemed like that would be the only reasonable way to get out of this.

Shin shrugged in response. "I have no idea. All I know is that it is infused with the elemental power of darkness." Not a lie. Shin had no idea how his sword worked as a channel for Malphas's power. But the blade itself reeked of dark power.

Carnwennan. The dagger of King Arthur. While Shin had a fair bit of knowledge on supernatural beings. He was also a avid reader of mythology. His family did occasionally fight creatures out of myth and legend after all. It paid to be knowledgeable about these things. He was pretty sure that Carnwennan did not hold some form of curse. "Odd." He mused. "I can't ever remember Carnwennan holding some form of curse." He shrugged. "But my knowledge on Arthurian myths is a bit rusty."

And now the boy was stating that the dagger was staying with him. "Oh really." Shin grinned at the boy. "It was hardly a chore for me to catch you. What makes you think you can keep your hands on it? There are people here who would love to get their hands on a dagger like that. Many of them are rather unpleasant and far more dangerous to you than me." He let out a small chuckle when the boy called him out on not introducing himself.. "It is also rather rude to cut people. Perhaps if you apologize and give me your name. I'll do the same.

At this point Shin just wanted to mess with the boy. Worse case scenario and the boy did have nefarious intentions. Shin could simply track him down and kill him. While he did dislike killing normal humans, it was occasionally necessary.

Carver had to admit that he dodged the question quite well. He managed to avoid answering while stating what the process sort of involved, of course it didn't help him figure out whether or not he was lying.

Silently Carver cursed, so the boy had the pure luck to have read the literature of the Arthurian Mythos which mentioned it by name, maybe it was just his own bad luck. "Clearly it is." He commented, trying to salvage it by at least acting confident in his knowledge.

"Please, you wouldn't have caught me if that blasted rodent didn't flush me out." He commented annoyed, unless he had something that could pierce through the shroud of the May King's cloak then he would've had a lot of trouble finding him in the first place, finding someone without sound or smell or even presence was much more difficult then one would assume. "And besides, I haven't learnt the full lay of the land yet. Give me a few more days and I'd be able to escape most people." He was confident in his ability to escape, just avoid someone's sight and then boom, game over they wouldn't find him again.

"Fine, I apologize." Carver sighed before bringing his eyes back up to meet Shin's. "My name is Carver." He wasn't going to go ahead and give him a last name, that would be inviting him to see through his deceit and he needed to keep it up a little while longer.
