Matt was currently set up with a simple folding table in the downtown area, a rather large box of mint tins next to him as he sat there. Taped onto the front of the card-table was a cardboard sign, displaying a simple handwritten message upon the front.

What the Sign Says

Raising money for the repairs of Hyakuji Hospital. Find the tin containing mints, and win a prize! Pay what you want to compete.

... An mildly unusual charitable action on the Homunculus' part, but hey, a good cause was a good cause, right?

Selene walked up to Matt's table and looked at his sign. "Well well well, what have we here?" she asked, "A friendly game of chance to raise money for the hospital's reconstruction?"

The boy- the MAN sitting at the table had a selection of impressive scars which either meant he was bad at dodging, or his opponent was very unlucky.

"So how does this work?" she asked. "Is it one of those game where you mix up three boxes and I pick the one with the mints inside, or something else?"

Matt smiled at the girl, and reached into the mint box, pulling out three tins. "Right ye are, lassie! But, of course, in order to play the game, ye gotta pay! And, what's more, if ye win, I will give ye back yer money, and then some! Why, if yer able to find the tin with the mints in it, I'll match what ye pay in addition to returning yer money! So, what do ye say, lassie? Up for a little gambling for a good cause?"

Selene reached into her pouch and extracted a 500 yen coin. "Alright you magnificent Scottish bastard. Show me what you got." she challenged.

She gave him a confident smirk even as she was planning out her strategy. That the game would be rigged was obvious. She just had to figure out how and counter it.

Matt would smile even wider as the girl placed her coin on the table. Then, he'd open up two of the mint containers with one hand in quick succession, dumping them in front of Selene on her side of the table. Then, he'd place the now empty tins on either side of the untouched one. Then he'd pick up the still full container of mints, and give it a quick shake. Both of the individuals present would be able to hear the sound of the mints clacking against the side of the shaking container before he set it back down.

"Alright then. Now that ye know which one has the mints within it, let's get started!" With the same wide smile upon his face, Matt would quickly begin rearranging the tins. He wasn't going at his full speed yet, but it was still rather quick overall. Still, Selene probably wouldn't have too much of a problem following the tin so long as she payed attention.

Selene kept her eyes on the tin in question, tracking it easily with eyesight alone. "Wow, you're pretty good at this. Did you do this a lot when you were younger?" she asked him. A little conversation might take his mind off what he was doing, especially a probing question like this.

Leaning over like she was, her body hid the mints Matt had dumped out from his view. She passed a hand over the mints, forming a mouth with which to eat them. She did so quietly so as not to draw his attention to what she was doing.

When he was finished, she tapped the one on the right. She had been keeping an eye on them and was sure that was the right one. She also placed a tiny wafer thin dot of gum on the lid. It should be thin enough to escape notice.

Matt didn't answer Selene's question, simply continuing to re-arrange the tins. He did smile when she picked the tin, though. He would simply look at the girl then, and ask her one question.

"Are ye sure about that, lass?"

Selene fixed him with her best poker face, "Yes I am." she told him. "Now let's see if I was right." She waited for him to open the tin.

Of course she expected there to be a trick. There always was. Her job was to figure out exactly what trick was being used.
