But how can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real?
Hyakuji 2.0 Template

Character Name: Michi Oshiro
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Height: 1.82m
Weight: 76kg
Description or Image of Character Appearance:
Images

Occupation: Bartender/Local Handyman
Grade Level: High School Drop-Out
Powers/Abilities:
Champions of the Darker Powers: The archetype of Michi's powers. He can summon an array of spiritual warriors, invincible and ethereal other than the weapons they use to attack Michi's enemies. The Champions cannot be harmed, but neither can they be used as a shield. They are incapable of interacting with the world around them, other than by utilizing their weapons. Since they are being materialized by Michi's will, they rely on Michi's own senses to strike rather than their own. Only a single Champion can be summoned at a time.
  • Champion of Blood: The main Champion used by Michi. Its ability is all-round, simple, and useful: smashing things. Upon summoning the red-armored figure, it floats several inches off the ground behind Michi and swings its massive mace down on whatever is in front of its master. Strength-wise, the Champion is about as strong as a well-trained, large, powerfully-built human. Of course, only the mace is tangible. Its mace is about as tough as a similar weapon made out of iron and can be destroyed, which would activate a 2-post cooldown before the Champion of Blood can be summoned again.

  • Champion of Plagues: One of Michi's other Champions. The Plague Champion's ability is much more vicious than that of the Champion of Blood, being much more focused on causing longer-term pain. When it is summoned, it floats behind Michi, several inches off the floor, and fires its gun at whatever he indicates. Instead of regular rounds, it fires several Plague Rounds which turn into globs in mid-flight. Being hit by the slow-firing gun hurts little more than a paintball shot, but if the sludge makes contact with skin -and yes, it soaks through clothes after a while- it will burn on the skin and impair the target's movement by making them feel dizzy. This feeling gets worse as more shots land, to the point that it can lead to nausea and eventually total loss of balance. This requires over two dozen shots to land, though. Michi can fire three shots per post, making this power ideal against small groups and individuals, but less so against larger groups. Only the gun and its bullets are tangible. Its gun can be destroyed as easily as a similar object made out of iron, which would activate a 2-post cooldown before the Champion of Plagues can be summoned again.

  • Champion of Noise: Another pretty all-round Champion (and Michi's latest acquisition) is the Champion of Noise. The tall, armored figure floats a few inches off the ground behind Michi and holds a Sonic Blaster that fires in a 45 degree cone in front of the direction Michi indicates, violently pushing anything out of the way that is unfortunate enough to get caught in the strange, pink-ish vibrating blast. The push causes no real damage, but it can even push cars aside given enough time, somehow. The noise it creates is uncomfortable for the ears, but not really painful. Only the Sonic Blaster is tangible. The Champion cannot be harmed, but neither can it be used as a shield. It is incapable of interacting with the world around it, other than by firing its Blaster. Since it is being materialized by Michi's will, it relies on Michi's own senses to strike rather than its own. Its Blaster can be destroyed, which would activate a 2-post cooldown before the Champion of Noise can be summoned again.

Equipment You Have:
Rarely-used wooden sword.
Handyman toolkit.
Old school books and paraphernalia.
A strange metal pendant, a sort of eight-pointed star.

Residency Request:
Small Downtown Apartment

Personality Description:
Michi is usually a really lax dude, giving many people the idea that he's a lazy man. Well okay, he kinda is. Nonetheless, there's more behind that lopsided smile than a man unwilling to really do much more than sit around and watch tv or play video games. Michi dislikes acting rashly, preferring to take his time figuring out the solution to an issue. Being at best averagely bright means that Michi is thus not always very fast at solving problems, but he does get there eventually.

Michi does know some disturbing things. Strange voices whisper to him in his sleep, and sometimes their terrible words come true. Coincidence or some strange prescience, Michi doesn't know, but it terrifies him. It was through the voices that he gained his powers as well, indicating that there is much more behind them than what seemed at first. They've inspired fear in Michi, making it difficult for him to sleep most nights and leaving him nervous in the dark. Sometimes he thinks he can hear them whispering to him at the edge of his hearing in broad daylight. These occasional bouts of paranoia stands in strong contrast with his usual lethargic attitude, and people have noted this in the past.

Another aspect of Michi's personality that clashes with his usual attitude is that he suffers from a mild depressive disorder, giving him occasional episodes where he lacks any drive to go out, eat, or socialize. These episodes last anywhere from a few hours to a few days, during which Michi craves some sort of relief from the feelings of depression he's combating, but lacks the drive to actually go out and find one. The voices are a partial source of his depression - Michi believes he should have been able to save some people who died during events that the voices described to him in his sleep, most prominently his parents.

Personal History:
From childhood, Michi Oshiro suffered frequent nightmares in which strange voices whispered dark things to him. His parents, simple folk living in Hyakuji, were somewhat worried but dismissed the voices as nightmares, telling Michi that those were normal and that everyone had bad dreams sometimes. They did take him to a child psychologist, but the man discovered nothing strange in him. The voices continued unabated, leaving Michi awake for some nights for fear of facing them.

One night, the voices were especially vivid and described to him scenes of horror and death he would long shiver to remember. One of these scenes revolved around his parents dying in a terrible car crash, their bodies so mangled that Michi would not even recognize them anymore. Having been taught that they were just nightmares, Michi kept the dream to himself and ignored that strange itch in the back of his head that something was off.

That same day, the back of a truck fell open on the highway and pin-cushioned the car his parents were in. The burial was a closed-casket one.

Michi was traumatized by the experience and placed in a (strangely full) orphanage in his city of birth, Hyakuji. Therapy helped him through much of the trauma early on, but he retained a fear of cars and, of course, the voices. Still psychologists could find nothing that might cause the voices in his head, since he showed no other symptoms of mental illness. Michi did develop depression around 15, while he was enrolled in Hyakuji High. Because of the disorder, he ended up failing and dropping out of school prematurely.

It was a few weeks after he had officially dropped out that the voices started telling him to do something rather than simply describing events or murmuring unintelligibly. They told him to go somewhere, imprinted the how, where and why into his mind. At first Michi was nervous - what if following the instructions would end in his own death? Several days passed before curiosity and the incessant nattering of the voices in his sleep drove him to look.

The trip took him to Mt. Hayaku, where a barely visible, twisting path took him to a cave entrance hidden behind trees and bushes. Michi wandered around for hours, and eventually his torch went out. Darkness enveloped him, and he panicked. Death surely awaited him. Then, the voices came in the dark, whispering directions.

Michi didn't know if he had fallen unconscious and simply sleepwalked, or whether the voices were talking to him while he was awake, because there was a gap in his memory between not long after his torch went out. When he finally opened his eyes to light again, he faced a small circular cave. The walls were scratched, carved and painted in many strange glyphs and symbols. Michi shivered when he realized some of the dark brown paint was actually blood. On a small altar in the middle of the room lay a silver chain with a pendant on it - a sort of strange, circular, star-like sign.

When he turned around, the room exited into daylight.

Michi walked out, confused, and turned around. The cave was gone. He could feel some sort of energy pulsing from the necklace, and despite every fiber in his body telling him not to, he put it on. He immediately blacked out again.

He woke up the next morning in his bed back at the orphanage, where he was staying until he could find a place for himself. Everybody he met said that he had not been gone the day before, that he had simply locked himself in his room and hadn't come out for dinner. Michi thought it was all just a dream... until he felt the cold iron star pressed against the skin of his chest.

Over time, strange powers started to materialize. He was able to create a phantom and could use it for destructive purposes. After three years or so, he mastered the first phantom, and he suddenly knew how to summon another. The cycle repeated again, only faster - another year came and went, and another spirit appeared in his retinue.

Now 19 years old, Michi has his own apartment in downtown Hyakuji and works part-time at a bar, spending the other half of his time either loitering or doing other odd jobs for people around the city. The voices never stopped, though, and Michi still worries about the dark secrets they might have in store for him...

Mashed Potatoes?
The pudding! The pudding, ye fools!

Thank you for your profile.
I have looked over your profile and would like the following areas addressed before I approve of this application.

This first one is entirely optional, but I think a short paragraph to introduce the general idea of the powers would make it a lot easier to understand. Something brief like explaining he can summon phantoms, and then a detailed explanation of each phantom would make it read a lot easier in my opinion.

For Champion of Blood, it only really requires clarification on how strong the phantom is, and what kind of damage it can do. The next point applies to all the phantoms, and not just Blood. What kind of damage can the actual weapon take? What kind of damage would break the phantom's weapons?

For Champion of Plague, I am afraid I am going to have to say that six shots per post is too much, and will need to be lowered. Besides that, everything else in this power is fine.

Finally, another point that generally applies to all the phantoms is that there doesn't appear to be a limit on the number of phantoms he can summon at one time, meaning at the moment he can just summon all three constantly. I would like to see this being limited to one active phantom at a time since all three at the same time might be a bit too strong.
