Matt was out for yet another one of his insomnia-driven walks during the middle of the night. Such things were becoming increasingly common for the Homunculus, if only because of a certain nagging thought he had been having as of late. And as he needed to think about this particular problem, it would be best to go somewhere quiet that he could pace around at without any worries of interruption. Of course, the warehouse district was perfect place for that, so Matt had trotted right over and commenced to wandering around while lost in thought. He wasn't dressed in his normal Hyakuji uniform, instead wearing some ratty-looking clothes that looked more like the possessions of some sort of vagrant rather than a student. In addition, he still had a slight bit of bed-head, which only helped to contribute to his overall bum-like appearance. Completing the unintentional image was his pacing and quiet muttering to himself. All in all, he looked almost exactly like some sort of homeless person, and an easy target for anyone who might have been out right now.... |

So far, the abandoned warehouse has been one of Rize's favourite places. Calm, quiet and secluded- yet there's never a shortage of visitors. Occasionally a thug or homeless person would wander through, but rarely were they ever alone. More often than not, people often came to the warehouses in big groups. But tonight, the purple haired Ghoul was lucky. Lurking in the shadows, she watched a lone young man walking around. His ragged clothing, along with dishevelled hair truly did give him a homeless look. Rize figured he must be looking for shelter for the night. Her lips curled into a wide smile, her spine tingling. With her arms wrapped tight around her, a small shudder coursed through her body. Tonight might just be fun~ While she could easily go for an ambush, she wasn't the type to do so. She had to spice things up a bit; make it a bit more... interesting. The young girl slowly stepped out from her hiding spot, meekly adjusting her red-framed glasses. She had her gaze on the floor as she walked, and she jolted in surprise as if she just noticed him right now. "O-oh! Thank goodness!" She exclaimed, breathing a sigh of relief. "Sorry, I..um, I'm new here and--" Rize broke her gaze, nervously fidgeting with her fingers. "My classmates dared me to come here at night and...and...I can't find them! C-can you help me, mister?" |

So much for no interruptions.... Matt thought to himself as he heard the feminine voice coming from the alleyway. He would sigh, a look of annoyance upon his face as he turned towards her. Just great, a girl wandering around in the middle of the night looking for help. If this was another Homunculus, he was going to slap a bitch. "Look lassie," he would say in his typical Scottish accent as he began to turn to look at her. "Ye do realize that yer-" It was at this point that the one-eyed Scotsman got his first look at Rize. His eye would widen, and his jaw would practically drop. "The most beautiful girl I've ever seen! I mean, Christ above,Just look at ye!" |

"Hm? Oh! Thank you, mister. I'm glad you think so~" A soft giggle escaped Rize's lips, and she started to twirl her hair around her fingers. Her cheeks flushed a light pink as she took a good luck at the young man before her. He was very tall, and was quite the handsome man himself. Her heart was racing, though it wasn't because of his compliment. Nor was it because of his physical appearance. She could smell him. Oh that sweet, sweet, juicy aroma of meat. And there was so much of it too, considering how much of a tall guy he was. Unconsciously, she licked her lips as she stared at him. "I-I think my friends went off that way. Can accompany me?" Rize gave him her sweetest smile...Yet she was pointing at the same dark alley she came from. "And how rude of me. My name's Rize, what's yours?" |

The momentary shock of of just how gorgeous the girl in front of him was faded nearly as quickly as it had came for Matt. He would shake his head quickly, clearing his thoughts with the motion. Sadly, the homunculus knew that a beautiful girl wandering around in the middle of the night asking for help from complete strangers was hardly anything but a trap of some sort. Honestly, as someone who had preyed upon Good Samaritans before this girl was even born, it was easy to see through. That being said, there was a very very small chance that this was a legitimate need for help. And, if nothing else, she was really good looking. So may as well go with her. If she was something preying upon people, he could handle her then. If she wasn't, hey, at least he would have the gratitude of an exceptional beauty! Either way was a win as far as Matt was concerned. He would stick out his arm, elbow bent so that they could lock arms together. "Of course I'll help ye find yer friends," Matt would say, a smile coming to his face. Rize wasn't the only one here who was well versed in concealing their actual emotions, after all. "As for names, I'm Matthew Hazeman. Ye can call me Matt, though. 'Ell, ye could call me anything ye want, with as pretty as you are!" ... Wait, was he trying to flirt? |

In her point of view, everything was going smoothly. So far, it all ran like clockwork. Everytime she did this, she'd pick out some straggler off the street and the first thing they'd notice was her looks. Perhaps her pretty face was her greatest blessing; it truly did help her conceal her true intentions. And in her experience, she had yet to be turned down! Her face beamed when he agreed to help. "Thank you so much! I was so scared that I'd end up alone." She cheered, clasping her hands together. The moment Matt offered arm to her, she quickly clung on to him tightly. In a bold move, she even made sure to press herself against his arm! "S-sorry, I'm just so scared of the dark..." she said, her voice softened. Her face flushed an even deeper shade of red as she lead him to the dark path. At a rather quick and rushed pace, at that. The excitement and thrill was getting to her head, now that she was holding onto his arm. "Ahaha, oh Matt~ I'm sure that with someone as tall and handsome as you around, all the monsters wouldn't want to bump into us!" And then, she finally made it to the dark alley. She looked up at him and she was smiling again. Though this time, it was a very sinister one. "Unless that monster is ME. she said, making a move to bite his arm! |

Wait, was she actually responding well to his flirting attempts? Yeah, that settled it. She had to be a monster. As much as he hated to admit it, he wasn't exactly what most women would naturally gravitate towards, even in situations where they were afraid. Well, barring one special case. Too many scars, not enough of a nice personality. That, combined with the fact he towered over every single girl he'd ever met (barring that special case yet again), tended to make him mildly off-putting to the ladies. Still, it wasn't as if he wasn't enjoying the buildup at least. Even though he was technically over a century old, Matt was still very much a teenager in mind. So to feel this woman press up against him, draw herself in close to him... Hell, if it hadn't been for his beaten-in training, he may have let his guard down completely, if only to enjoy the experience without thinking about the inevitable betrayal. Thankfully, despite his particular mindset towards the girl, Matt had the good sense to offer her the arm that still had an eye on the same side. After all, while part of him hoped that she wasn't some sort of monster interested in eating him, he knew that it wouldn't be the case. So he had made preparations to take care of her eventual attack. So, when Rize went in for the bite, there would be a couple of things that she would notice, signs that were unlike any other hunt she had probably had before. First off, now that she was so close to Matt, she would be able to notice that he smelled... Odd. Yes, there was the usual aroma of meat ready to be devoured, but there was also... something else. It was like a metallic tang in the air, the faintest whiff of oil and other lubricants. It was like the Scotsman was almost as much machine as person to her refined senses. The second oddity of note came as she came close to sinking her teeth into his flesh. She would feel his hands suddenly grasp her arm, and twisting it painfully behind her back. She had made a mistake in accepting his arm before, one that would now be apparent. But then again, how was she to know that he was well-trained in a grappling style? "Don't move Rize," the Homunculus said. If it wasn't for the fact that he had now maneuvered himself behind the girl, she would have been able to see the look of disappointment on his face. "Or I'll tear off yer arm. Now, I have only one simple question for ye: Are ye a Homunculus?" |

Yes, there was a distinct and strange scent coming from him. And it really was unlike anything she had smelled from a person before. But still, meat was still meat. While others of her kind would've probably left him alone because of that, she wasn't the picky type. For the past few days, Rize had been busy 'blending in' too much. She'd consumed too much human food; food that while delicious to others, would always taste pasty and foul in her mouth. She needed something to wash that vile taste off her, and here it was! But she wasn't expecting that he'd put up a fight. She had definitely misjudged him in thinking that a ragged looking man wouldn't be well-versed in self defence. Moments before her teeth would make contact, she had her arm grabbed and twisted behind her. She let out a pained grunt, clenching her teeth tightly. "Kyaa! L-let me go!" She cried, reverting to her feigned innocent girl voice. Helplessly she tried to kick back at him. But in this awkward and not to mention painful position, it was pretty much useless. Following his threat, she soon stopped kicking. "Come on, I was so close. Why do you have to be like this?" She too, looked rather disappointed. It was so troublesome whenever people put up a fight. Sadly, it was all too common in this city teeming with people that have powers. "A homun-what?" Rize asked, a puzzled look on her face. She'd never heard the term before. "Mmm, I don't know. Maybe I am?" Suddenly, the cloth on her lower back slowly began to stain deep red. As if she now had a wound there. "Would you like to find out? I promise I'll be gentle when I scramble up your organs~" |

Relief flooded Matt's mind as Rize revealed that she didn't even know what a Homunculus was. He then let go of the girl, roughly shoving her away. If she wasn't a Homunculus, that meant that she wasn't going to become a meal. Which, honestly, made Matt quite happy. He would much rather not have to kill the beautiful purple-haired girl. Well, not without getting to know her a bit better, at least. "Good then," he would say after shoving her away, his tone obviously relieved. "Now, I'm going to save us both a lot of trouble here, beautiful. If yer lookin' to eat a human, ye'd best not eat me. I'm not human, after all. More of a bio-mechanical construct, actually. So, unless metal's a part of yer diet as well..." It was at that point that Matt noticed the "wound" on her lower back. A look of worry crossed over his face, and he began to walk closer to Rize once again. "Ah, crap. Did I hurt ye on accident?! I'm awfully sorry if I did, lass. Get caught up in fights sometimes and all. Ye'd best take off yer shirt so I can tend to that, then." ... Paragon of gentlemanly manners, that's what Matt was. |
