His body felt terribly heavy. Physically anyway. The great strength that he had carry himself day by day had all but disappeared. Otherwise however, he felt quite... light. As though a heavy burden that he had been carrying on his shoulders were let go. It's only going to be temporary. But this moment of being released from all the responsibilities that he had chosen to take on was... liberating, I guess. Man, his inside still feels weird and tingly. There is no way he's ever going to get used to someone putting their hand inside and right through him. ...It was dark. The hail, or it should be rain again now, was still pouring. He hope it'd end soon, because he's really not sure if it'd be good for this girl's health... The girl that came back to life in his arms, that he had caught just as she had fallen, Hayate Kokuroi. "...Hello Hayate," The young man said with a small smile. She's still very small. |

As far as vaguely unsettling feelings went, Matt had to admit that this one felt even stranger than any other he had gone through before, including the process that had led to him being a Homunculus in the first place. It was painful, nor was it exactly draining. Honestly, there wasn't truly a way to describe it. Regardless, the transfer would reveal just how closely tied to his "powers" Matt was. Where people like Lucid or Seth had powers that merely aided their body, or performed some sort of other duties, Matt's power was his body, down to the silicon-based DNA chains he had arranged himself. Thankfully, the process wouldn't kill him. It would just revert him to his prior human state. The first thing the others would be able to notice was that as his powers were drained, Matt was visibly shrinking. Height and muscle mass were both declining as Matt changed from his towering 6'4" to a much smaller 5'2". And while he was certainly in what most people would consider good shape, it was more along the lines of someone who did the occasional workout, not the solid muscle definition from before. The second obvious change was the disappearance of the symbol upon his chest, one that gradually faded with his height. And then, they would be back in the real world. The Scotsman felt a little woozy, and supported himself upon a lightpole while holding his now-too-big pants up with his other hand. "Hah," he would meekly say, sounding somewhat tired. "Two for me, nothin' for death. Seems like I've got meself a solid lead there now." |

She twitched again. Again Again. As if someone waking up from a horrible nightmare, Hayate was slowly shocked awake. Her eyes, which had never closed, finally started to move once more. With a panicked flurry, her eyes surveyed the entire area. She blinked. Repeatedly. Even though it was evening, the lights were bright enough to harm her eyes. Her pupils dilated to their minimum size and her eyes closed quickly, doing whatever she could to protect herself from the intense light. Weakly, very weakly, her left hand trailed towards her face.Heavy, heavy… her hand was so heavy. It felt like the air became thicker, and like it was trying to prevent her from moving. She only got about halfway before her hand collapsed into her chest. Ah… everything started to hurt. Her body was so heavy. Why was it so heavy? Why was moving so hard…? Her fingers twitched, slowly curling up into a ball. She could still do that. That didn’t hurt. But the pain only made her happy. It made her realise that it hadn’t all ended. Hayate’s eyes focused on the boy holding her. Her lips opened, but they quickly closed without making a sound. Once more, she tried to speak… ….But no voice came from her mouth. ‘Se-’ Even her lips didn’t come further than finishing the first part of his name. It just hurt. Everything hurt. Even moving her lips to speak hurt. Even tensing her cords to let out a noise hurt! But she tried again anyway. But the result was the same. Hayate carefully leaned her head back, examining the area once more. There was Seth, there was a teenager she didn’t know, and there was… huh? Was that her own body? ...Then it could only be… Her mouth opened once again. She wanted to call her name. The one person that was always besides her. Now that she could finally speak to her, now that she could finally call out to her…! But while her lips and tongue managed to mime three syllables, her voice still couldn’t escape. But just as she did with Seth, she tried again. And again. Even though no voice came out, she wanted to call out to the person she always hid in darkness! The power she always hated, the powers that ruined her life… ...The powers that let her feel how it was to be normal… ...and the powers that finally brought her back. Even though she always denied her voice- her influence… now, Hayate was calling out to her. She smiled. The Profound Darkness smiled. It was happy. It was innocent. Even though she was so ruthless towards her opponents, and even though she drew such a frightening blade on those that opposed her, she was smiling. And it was free from all the power and contempt her face held earlier. It was even free from the force she added whenever Seth looked at her. ”Hayate...” And she called back. For the first time, these two could face each other. For the first time, these two could talk to each other. Even though they shared so much pain, even though they shared so much horror. They could finally laugh together. It’s finally all over. --- ”That’s right… make me laugh even more.” Utterly Profound - Part 1 finished. ’Losing what’s precious’ |
