Well that sword looked rather unpleasant. So Jack was just going to stop trying to look at it directly.

Oh hoh. It seems that the strongest has made an appearance, this helps the odds considerably. With a few hops of his powerful legs. Jack landed next to Seth. "It's some kind of power stealing wraith. I've fought it once before. It's pretty nasty. It can change tactics depending on who it's fighting. It already got Lucid that way." He hefted the manhole cover up and looked at it curiously. " In my human form, I can throw one of these things hard enough to have it embed itself in a wall." He mused and offered it to Seth. "Mind showing me where I measure up against the strongest fighter in school?" His tone was slightly playful, but he still kept a wary eye on the girl. He was ready to jump out of the way at the slightest twitch from her.

The blade moved.

The three separate surfaces of the blade all turned in opposite directions. The bottom segment rotated to the left, the middle one rotated to the right, and the top one-

...Huh?

It was clearly going in a different direction. But it couldn't. That's impossible. Yet it clearly was. It was rotating into itself. It was going into a third direction, when there were only two it could take. The rotation started slow and careful, doing nothing but make a slight hiss, like an engine slowly starting up. But it's true, terrifying power quickly became obvious.

While it had been a windless night, it had finally started to blow. Just a gentle breeze, it felt like, at first, but it became more and more ferocious. The wind- the air itself, became so thick that it was visible around the mysterious sword. The current build and it build. It was as if a tornado was forming, with the blade as its eye. Were the three spectators not to brace themselves, they would find them losing their footing. Small cracks in the very air appeared around the blade's tip. It was as if the tip of her blade slashed through a fine window.

Jack did not surrender, so he was asking for it.

It was that simple.

She gave her the chance to surrender, and yet-

"Enuma..."

The blade slowed down and the whirring turned silent. After a few seconds, it came to a halt. Her arms lowered, and the Sword of Rapture moved with them. The tip lightly rested on the concrete floor underneath. Even though she had lowered her hands so slowly, it already found itself embedded in the ground. While the area had been slightly damaged by the heavy current of wind earlier, everything quickly returned to normal.

"...Tch."

Her eyes wandered to the new entry. For a moment, her eyes focused on his face. Staring at him.

...Or maybe through him? Her eyes carried a painful anger. While she had been merely annoyed until now, this was a glare that could rip a person apart. Her previously unguided anger finally focused down.

If her weakness really was crowds, that was to be expected, right? While dealing with three students should be possible, dealing with even one with a reputation like Seth's is something no one would willingly do.

Her left arm, the one that held no blade, moved up to her face. Her fingers covered her light-blue eyes, breaking their glares. The disdain on her face was obvious.

"Oi, Ryouga... or whatever your name is, new guy and the other two."

Spite. Pure spite.

"Look away. Stand back."

A large amount of the black matter formed underneath her feet, and she launched herself at Jack. Her blade lifted high into the air, and within a flash, it would be struck down to the ground. The all-cutting sword moved to cleave at the werewolf.. but the girl was oddly specific about her position. While her blade cut even the air itself as it moved, she aimed not to cut him with anything but the rounded tip.

Even if this hit him, it wouldn't be dangerous. It definitely wouldn't be fatal.

...Excuse him?

...Is this supposed to be what he had been hearing little whispers about, someone who is apparently capable of stealing other people's powers? He'd never really bothered to delve into it too much but...

...Hm.

If his words were to be trusted, the girl had apparently also gotten to Lucid...?

Words have also been circulating about it...

...

She's moving. She's giving them a warning, telling them to stay away. Hardly out of concern, probably, but out of pure hatred. She cares not for them, whether they are here or not, she just wishes for them to get lost. Or at least, stay uninvolved and turn a blind eye on what was about to happen.

Sure. He can do that, I mean it's not hard to just go away...

This is just going to be another petty squabble... right?

Petty... petty...

Something is wrong. Something feels terribly wrong. His survival instinct kicked in all of a sudden, desperately yelling out to them- "Get the HELL AWAY FROM HER!!!"

The young man lunged forward with the manhole in one hand to slam the odd sword away from hitting anyone, while throwing away the umbrella he had been holding to grab the werewolf by his collar and throw him back!

Matt widened his stance as the wind intensified, standing against the wind as he did so. So the lass had a few more parlor tricks to share, hmmm? Matt certainly wasn't going to object to that, especially if she was a so-called "power stealer". Let her use all the tricks she wanted. In the end, she was still going to be a lesser being when compared to him.

He would grin after the winds abated and the attacks began. He wouldn't move to interfere with any of them. Only a hero would be stupid enough to try and attract the potential danger this girl posed, and Matt was certainly no hero. Let the others toy with her some. After all, the more of her fighting style he got to see, the better he would be able to combat this girl when the time came. Who knew, maybe they'd even be useful enough to tire her out some before he joined.

And now the girl was leaping towards his friend. If it was just Seth and Matt, Shin would have been content to stand back and watch. But instead the girl had to target one of the few friends that Shin had. It seems that Shin was going to have to stab a bitch.

Using the same move that the girl used to propel herself upwards. Shin launched himself off the lamppost, using his shadow to propel himself and landed behind Seth. He figured that the worlds strongest man would work as a better shield than his shadows ever would.

Working quickly he sent two tendrils over Seth's shoulders. Each of them flying forward in an attempt to impale the girl.

"All this trouble for little old me?" Jack drawled out, taunting the girl with the terrifying sword. Not the smartest move in his opinion, but hey. If he does get killed he might as well die the way he lived. As a snarker.

His legs tensed, ready to leap back. But it seems that Seth had beaten him in that regard. Jack found himself being flung backwards, courtesy of Ryouga airlines.

He managed to righten himself in the air. Flipping head over heel and planting his feet in the ground. Due to the force in Seth's throw he was still sent skidding for several meters before he stopped.

"It steals powers via touch!" Jack called to the group. "It's weak spot is something solid in its centre of mass!" He held back, waiting to see what the more experienced fighters were going to do. He would support them to the best of his ability.

This was a blade that was wrong at it's very core. It had no edge, and were it not for it's heavily-dissonant appearance, it wouldn't even seem like a weapon at all! But there it was, splitting even the air as it arced through the air.

Everything in the blade's path was carved in half as it moved. Even light refracted strangely when interacting with this weapon. It was as if it was a prism- while the colour refused to taint the sword itself, a split rainbow of light flashed to both sides... and even light itself refused to re-enter its trail.

The Sword of Rapture didn't follow any laws. It was a blade beyond human reason. And yet- this man thought he could stop it?

The steel manhole cover faced the same fate as everything else that met this weapon. It did not even offer resistance. As soon as the rounded edge touched the manhole cover, it split. As if it had no authority trying to stand in the realm of a god- it simply broke away.

And did he not move quickly... the same would happen to Seth's hand. To the all-cutting blade, the world was completely uniform. It doesn't matter who or what it was- if it touched its edge, it could be cut.

"...Seth..."

Did he not move, his hand would be cleaved in half. Did he not move, his blood would be spilled.

"...I told you to stay... out of the god-damned way..."

When she called his name, she sounded angry and full of hate. But now, it sounded closer to a twisted worry- or maybe even pity?

Until now, her head was lowered and her hair hid her eyes. But slowly, she tilted it upwards. Her eyes were shut closed. To the Sword of Rapture, it didn't matter what was in it's path. Nothing offered resistance.

So... like she was now...

With her eyes tensed closed.

...There was no way for her to tell if she actually cut someone or not.

"...You did, right...?"

Her blade slashed to the side, ridding itself of any blood or dirt that might've tainted its flawless visage. Her eyes would remain closed. Tense for as long as she could managed.

And they... they were only forced to open as those shadowy tendrils embedded themselves into her shoulders.

It hurt, it hurt, it really really hurt.

But this time, she didn't cry. This time, she didn't even flinch.

It wasn't nearly as bad as it was before.

Slowly, her eyelids lifted, as her curtain on reality became undone.

Now, what was reality...?

He's scared.

He knows he calls himself the strongest. He has enough confidence to believe that he is capable of punching down anything with just his raw strength, taking on anything that comes his way with no more than sheer durability and grit of teeth. In a contest of physical superiority, he is egoistic enough to believe that he would easily be able to reign supreme and come out on top.

...But how the hell is he supposed to fight something that had just 'commanded' the physical world to 'cease' their existence?!

He doesn't know what made him step back. Perhaps it was his own survival instinct that had not only chosen that moment to intervene, but also subconsciously made him retreat to save his own skin. He wasn't actually hit so that's something to be relieved about, but the manhole cover that he had been holding to swat the odd sword away had not been so lucky.

A large, curved chunk of iron had literally been told to 'stop existing' by the sword. There was no marks, nothing at all that could indicate that it had been 'cut' or 'broken off'. It just simply disappeared.

...Goddamn he's actually trembling in his shoes right now. As much as the others are riled up to give a good fight, he's actually refusing to make even the slightest move forward. That girl is right, all of his senses are vehemently agreeing with her that he, or they, should just leave if they ever want to survive. Leave and don't look back, just leave her alone and all will be good. Until... "...Wait, how did you...?"

His senses was rattled by her calling out his first name.

What... why did you use that tone-...

STAB.

Well, thanks for being too focused on what's in front of him, he completely missed the two tendrils coming up from his back darting straight past his head to stab at the girl, much to his surprise. Now, in any other situation when he might have tried to give one or two good punch he would've probably appreciated the assist. But...

She didn't even move. She did not do anything to retaliate or defend herself in any way, just... leaving herself open.

It was honestly that, more than anything else, that triggered his one policy that he had often stood behind. "DON'T ATTACK SOMEONE WHO IS DEFENSELESS!!!"

He dropped the manhole cover and turned around, grabbing the two tendrils over his shoulders and tugged on them HARD to pull Shin flying right at him, before throwing himself forward to headbutt him!

Even though she's the one who attacked first...? This is why no one will ever understand him...

And people sometimes wondered why he thought he was better than everyone else! Here he was, with three other Hyakuji students, and they were all being hostile, aggressive ponces. Normally, that'd be his job as well, but... Well, this girl hadn't really done any truly aggressive actions towards him yet. Hell, even against Jack and Seth, her attacks had seemed more half-hearted than anything else.

And, unlike the others, Matt had a good bit of breathing room to think, due to the fact that he wasn't worried about fighting currently. So, she had healed up after the kid who wasn't Shan or Sebs had come into the picture, hmmm? Actually, that's when she had become "aggressive" as well, come to think of it. Matt would smile wider at that point, despite the current danger. Perhaps there was a nice, simple answer to all of this, one he could find and rub in the face of everyone else here. Of course, all he'd have to do is narrow things down some.

"Oi there," he would call out to Jack, seemingly unworried about everyone else and their agitation. "Quick spectator question for ye, laddie. What's yer power?"

The great thing about being able to manipulate shadow is that it is an intangible substance when it's not under Shin's control.

So when Seth grabbed Shin's tendrils, the demon hunter released his control over them. The tendril that the strongest was holding dissipated. Shin took a step back out of range of Seth's headbutt, glaring at him all the while.

"Strongest? Yes. Smartest? Most likely not." He muttered loudly enough for Seth to hear. He levelled his sword at Seth. "That girl has attacked my friend not once, but twice and most likely attempted to steal my powers. Either help take her down or stay out of my way." He then turned his head slightly and call back to Jack. "Please hang back Jack-kun, I have a plan. Attack when I give you the signal."

The last part was a lie. Shin had no plan, all he wanted was for his friend to get to safety. Shin would be the first person to admit that he is an asshole. So when someone threatens to harm one of the few friends the boy has. Well that's enough for him to get serious about cutting a bitch up.

Shin's shadow darted out across the ground extending until it rested underneath the girl. With a flick of his wrist, Shin would cause several spikes to erupt form the ground beneath the girl. All intent on hitting this weak spot that his friend informed him of.

Jack grit his teeth and let out a low inhuman growl of frustration. His friend was fighting for his sake and now he couldn't help but had to hang back and wait for a signal. That really frustrated the usually protective Lycan. He wanted to help his friend but he had to wait while he risked his neck for Jack's sake.

And now Matthew was calling out to him. "Lycanthropy. I'm a werewolf." He growled back, not sure what Matthew intended to do with that information.

Since there was plenty of distance between him and the girl. Jack was content to wait for Shin's signal. Then all hell would break loose.

"Oh... I really did miss."

Her voice was relieved. Completely unbefitting of someone that was impaled through her shoulders. The erratic black goo spilled from those wounds for only a moment, before wrapping around the injuries and quickly closing them back up.

But even though her wounds were gone... the pain didn't leave.

But even though it hurt so much, it seemed like she lost the ability to flinch.

"Thank god... This sword, it can't tell apart enemies from allies. When I heard you call out, I-"

The jet-black spikes pierced her body, and it gave no resistance- it was really as if he pierced a regular human. Her flesh was nothing more than a frail mask. Her bones were like thin twigs to the shadowy spikes- for something that could pierce stone, the human body provided no real resistance.

This time, she flinched. She screamed in pain. The ethereal blade fell from her hand. It even retained it's power in this free fall. When the tip of the blade hit the ground, it carved a huge 'slash' into the ground.

It was a blade without a name. An object without legends.

You do not write legends about a force of nature. You do not give it a name. It simply is. It is a conceptual weapon- as Seth saw, it didn't cut. It forcefully applied the reality of being 'cut' to any object it passed. That manhole cover did not fade from existence-

It was simply cut. It cut it so deep it could not hold its form.

The girl's aggression seemed to have completely faded. The gruesome impalement the shadows gave had already started to heal. Even though those shadows were still stuck in her body, the wounds were forcefully trying to be undone anyway.

"Ah... That hurt. It really hurt. I just needed to steal a little bit, and I would've been fine without doing this..."

Her body flickered, temporarily turning into static as she flashed away from the spikes. The wounds were gone, but she wasn't healed.

...This is a power Seth has seen before.

...Did that mean...?

No, don't be silly. Dead people can't return. She was dead. Buried. The power that kept her tied to reality ran out.

"If you just.. stayed still..." Her body flickered in and out again. Was she fading away? A hideous noise of static cut in and out every time her existence did.

Her left hand reached upwards.

...And the rain stopped.

Or rather, it was being stopped. Something high in the sky stopped it far before it could reach the ground. A cyclone of immaterium broke the skies. It slowly eeked towards the girl... creeping into her body.

Slowly, she stood up again.

"...I need to continue, Seth. And because of the little werewolf and the shadow manipulator there... I need more, too."

"Do I LOOK like I care?!" Well he certainly doesn't seem to care whether what he's saying is acceptable or not, because all he could see is a girl who wouldn't, or couldn't defend herself being attacked.

...It's a wonder that he could stand up to that when he actually saw her make the first move. He was even the one that tried to stop her, to the point of actually endangering his own life, so how the heck could she ever be defenseless?

Was it her voice? Does it really feel that out of place if she's the one who is a danger to the others? The young man was unsure, why would she speak like that? Who is-

Stubbornness really is a thing. He probably should have expected it when he was first backtalked to, but the young man had been too busy contemplating the girl to notice the tendrils creeping across the ground before ending up impaling her. And then there was the agonized scream.

Any kind of fear he had for the girl had completely disappeared, to be replaced by mostly shock and disbelief as he turned back to her. It was painfully one-sided, she was completely disarmed and it would seem like she was even fading away-

"Im...s-sorry..." Even in his grasp, Aki began to flicker...

...No- wait why is he remembering that... This is unrelated...

"Sorry...sorry...sorry..." Her voice kept repeating, fading in and out of audible range like a TV hitting static.

The young man ran his fingers through his hair, his frustration rising from what he's seeing. There was something... something else that was more vague, but eerily similar, creeping in his mind besides the image of the very vivid memory...

"F...or..giv..e...m..e"

How many times...

"...H-Hayate...?" His voice cracked as a terrible realization dawning down on him. "...Is that... you?"

That... that can't be right. She shouldn't be here, she was... He was at her goddamn funeral for crying out loud...! He saw her body too, closed in a coffin before it was buried with his own eyes... There weren't that many people there but if he asked they would definitely be able to attest that... she really was dead...!

Then who is this...

Memories are starting to flood back rapidly. The young man placing pieces after pieces together, from the words about a power thief, this... phantom person he's seeing in front of him, and the girl from back then...

He has no idea how it all was supposed to work... but he's got it figured out. Probably. "...You're still hanging onto life... huh? With your power..." Admittedly he himself couldn't quite tell what her ability is, but from what he knew it had the capability to project a solid... ethereal... version of herself. "But you can't sustain yourself... Especially not when you're-... So you needed others..."

...He wasn't sure if he wants to be right...

Oh. It seems that Seth knows the girl. Well that's nice, it would be nicer if he asked her to stop charging up some kind of attack. Since the Strongest was just standing there with his thumb up his ass. Shin decided to take action.

Dashing past Seth, Shin moved towards the girl so she was further in his effective range. Once he was close enough, the ground at the girls feet would darken. The girl would find herself encased in a black coffin-like construct. Once it was sealed, black spikes would grow from every side of it. "If you needed to feed on others, it would probably go better for you if you used words first instead of violence." With that hypocritical statement uttered, the spikes would shoot towards the girl, intent on impaling the girl from every angle.

There wasn't really much Jack could do at this point. He was too far away to attack and there was nothing overly heavy nearby for him to throw.

So instead the lycan transformed. Shifting into his wolf form. Ears raised and body ready to pounce in any direction. If this goes south he may need to run away.

He only hoped that Shin would follow him and escape as well.
