"G-Gaaah!"

A young girl stumbled forward. Her left hand was pressed tightly against her stomach. She was wearing the Hyakuji uniform, although it's shirt had been dyed scarlet with blood. Her entire body hurt. Everything hurt. Even the action of lifting her leg up hurt! Everything, everything, everything.

"I can't believe..."

Her left hand moved away from her chest. Just like her shirt, it was covered in a film of red liquid. Her hand pressed down onto the ground beneath her, wiping the blood on the ground beneath.

The sound of drizzling rain interrupted the otherwise silent evening. The girl's short, brownish-red hair had lost any sort of model as it awkwardly stuck to her face. She seemed oddly unprepared for the situation, even though the weather had been turning bad for the past few hours. Was she chased out of her house, perhaps? Or maybe, did she something keep her outside?

"W-why isn't this healing...?"

The young girl stood back up.

But the moment she straightened her legs, she fell forward.

Again, she stumbled to her feet.

But again, she fell.

The fourth time she fell was when she finally gave up. Her arms moved down, wrapping around the wound she had sustained. She moved to sit on her knees, before simply waiting. She was regaining her strength. It all hurt, and moving only agitated her injuries. If one had an ability that could heal any injury, it was only common sense to let it heal as a first priority, right?

"It'll just be a few minutes... right... a few minutes..."

After all, there's not like anything could make a power disappear, right? If one is so used to their injuries healing- even the slightest of cuts failing to do so is terrifying. But, it wasn't something that could last for more than a few minutes, right? Maybe the shock of pain had temporarily hampered her ability to regenerate, maybe

"Right... haha. Just a few minutes."

Her voice didn't sound very convinced. A lie to cast away doubts from ones self only works if you can make it sound convincing- but her voice now was so shaken and broken that anyone could tell it was an untruth. She had no faith in her wound disappearing, at all, if no one came to help.

Ah, this was the worst. She wasn't in the middle of town, or anything! Maybe if she screamed as loud as she could, someone could hear her. But her voice wasn't cooperating. Every time she opened her mouth to let out a scream, the only thing that came out was a high-pitched yelp of pain.

It hurt. It hurt it hurt it hurt it hurt it hurt it hurt.

Someone.. Anyone. Help?

"Well well," an voice tinged with a Scottish accent would say from a nearby alleyway, his amusement obvious. "What seems to be the issue here, I wonder?" Matt would walk out of the alleyway, eyebrow raised as he smirked at the bloodied girl. He would calmly walk towards the other girl, seemingly unworried that she was extremely injured.

To any third-party observation, people would be able to note that Matt's posture seemed... different than what it was normally. He seemed a bit more tense than normal, his posture like he was ready to leap into a burst of activity at the drop of a hat, his eye focused upon the injured student in front of him. And what was he even doing out this late anyways, especially in some place this far away from the dorms? Such actions were... Well, quite frankly, rather predatory of him.

"Ah rain, wonderful." Shin drolly remarked as a slight drizzle began while he was on his way back to the dorms.

He began to jog through the streets in an effort to avoid a possible downpour when he saw a very disturbing sight. His associate, Matthew Hazemen standing over a bloodied girl. This did not look good for the Scotsman. Since he did seem rather undisturbed that the girl may be bleeding out. His tense posture, wasn't singing him praises either.

"Well well well." Shin spoke up from across the road. Although his tone was jovial. His eyes had a cold glint to them. "Were you feeling a bit peckish Hazemen-san?" He began crossing the road towards the older Scot. His sword appearing in a burst of shadow. "Or did the poor girl just annoy you a bit?" His shadow began spreading out along the ground. Extending so the ground beneath him was under his control. He would look at Matthew expectantly. His muscles tense and ready to jump at the slightest movement from the homunculus.

He was actually quite saddened. For a while he thought that Matthew meant no harm to humans. But apparently that was not the case.

As the two new entries appeared, the fallen girl showed a smile of relief. The immense pain that knocked her to her knees had disappeared, and slowly, she would stumble back onto her own two feet. A large part of her waist had been coated in blood, and now- on closer inspection, it would be obvious that her hair was as well. It was only a very small layer- but it was enough to corrupt the brunette's hair with a reddish hue.

"...It'll heal."

Her smile quickly disappeared. She was convinced she could recover, but that wouldn't get her through the barrier of pain that dropped her to her knees in the first place. She could only step forward once before she once more lost her balance. Her left hand reached forward- trying to grasp something, anything, that could stop her fall.

But neither of the two men were close enough for her to reach. The quick shift of her hand did nothing bar flick some of the blood that coated her hand in Matthew's direction. Even though her hand couldn't reach her, her blood might.

"G-Guaaah!"

It hurt. The hand that had just painfully stretched forward retreated to her wounds. Her other hand and her knees joined, everything pressing together against her stomach in a pathetic attempt to curb her bleeding.

It hurt, it all hurt. It really hurt.

The nerve of some people. Just because an individual who may or may not eat humans was in the vicinity of an injured person, and didn't seem concerned with her current state did not by any means that they were the one responsible for it! Honestly, that was just rude of Shin. What's more, there was a perfectly rational explanation for why the human-form Homunculus was out and about in the middle of the night during a rain shower.

It was simple, really. You see, Matt had a slight problem with insomnia. Maybe it was his internal clock being hard-wired to Scotland's time for about 100 years, or maybe it was because he sometimes thought he could hear the electricity running through the walls in the dorm. Or maybe it was a simple dislike of being inside of a building while it was dark. Honestly, he didn't know, and he wasn't about to admit to someone else that he had a problem so that they could figure it out.

But regardless of the cause, his lack of sleep led to a bit of wanderlust. After all, it wasn't really like he had anything better to do, so he might as well go for a walk, right? After spending most of his life in Scotland, however much of that had been under a castle, a little bit of rain was hardly a deterrent for him! So, needless to say, he had taken to wandering around town, and that was what had led him here.

But what about his nonchalant reaction, his amused tone, his tense posture? Once again, there existed a simple explanation! Matt was used to women wandering around in the middle of the night being a monster wanting to devour some Good Samaritan sucker. So, of course, he had shifted to his standard approach to danger: A wry attitude born from a combination of experience and self-confidence, and the ability to spring into action as soon as the situation required it. It also didn't help that he couldn't really see very well, thanks to the combination of having half the eyes of the average person, the dark, and the rain. The weather didn't exactly help with Matt catching exactly what the girl was saying either.

But, of course, Matt wouldn't explain that to Shin. Not that he would be unwilling to, mind. No, if there was one thing the former Familiar loved to do, it was to show so-called "heroes" how out of touch they were with reality. But, of course, there was a time and place for that. And that time and place was certainly not when a girl just collapsed upon the ground.

Now, Matt was... not exactly what most people would call a nice person. In fact, he could be a outright ass most of the time. And even if he thought it may be a trap, it just wouldn't be right to let someone else bleed to death, especially if the blame for it fell on him. So, not saying a word to Shin, Matt would suddenly rush towards the girl as she fell to the ground.

As the girl fell to the ground, Shin and his shadows darted out. One tendril went to wrap around the girl. In an effort to both support her and stem the bleeding. The shadow wrapped tightly around the wound. Not agitating it, but instead stemming the bleeding. The tendril would gently moved her so she was pulled right next to Shin.

The second tendril would find itself a few centimetres from Matthew's chest, poised to stab at it. "Not another step." Shin spoke evenly. All traces of humour gone from his voice. "You must admit you are in a rather suspicious position Hazemen-san." His voice was without tone or emotion. The girl had said that the wound would heal with some time. Shin was content to wait. He could hardly move the girl while she had such a serious wound. "This is what is going to happen. I'm going to call an ambulance, this girl is going to be taken away. " He gave Matthew a cold smile. And then we are going to have a little chat." He raised his sword slightly. It was hanging loosely in his grip. But that could change at a moments notice. "Or if you want we can skip to the fun part now."

"For Christ's sake Shin, calm down. The poor guy is innocent." A rather annoyed voice came from the side of the pair. As none other than the werewolf of Hyakuji, Jack Argent strolled onto the scene.

Why was he here you ask? Well wolves have a habit of sleeping in short bursts. So the werewolf has always had rather odd sleeping hours. So during the few hours that he was awake at odd times. He went for a walk through the city.

He was in this current area because he smelt blood on the wind. Thinking someone was hurt, the lycan investigated.

He nodded towards Matthew. "He doesn't have the smell of blood on him. So I'm pretty sure he is innocent." He pulled out his phone. "Now if you two are quite done. I'm going to call an ambulance for this girl."

"A-Ahh... Gahh..." She still couldn't scream, but the pain was unbearable. Her body could do nothing but weakly twitch as the pain only seemed to increase. While Shin was careful in how he moved her, it wasn't nearly gentle enough. The extreme pain dulled all senses, except the sense of touch. The way her legs scraped across the ground as she was moved, it hurt. It all hurt. The pressure the tendrils put on her- Everything. It hurt.

It hurt it hurt it hurt.

A trial of blood had been left in the young girl's wake. The small droplets were diluted by the rain, leaving an eerie scarlet path that finally converged in the sea of red. Even though the natural flow of water was doing it's best to wash it away, the heavy blood stubbornly remained as a reminder to what happened-

Whatever happened.

Yet- even though the girl was so wounded. Even though she had lost so much blood. Even though all these muffled cries of pain from her lips, they curved into a smile.

What was it that he said? There was no scent of blood?

Could you really call this blood, though?

The red became black.

But black was not something that could accurately describe the disturbing mass. It was a colour beyond understanding. Simply gazing upon it was enough to make one dizzy. It reflected light in unnatural ways. They would all be able to see a shape- the large pool of blood. But understanding it was more difficult. It was simply all unnatural. Even though the puddle was flat on the ground- it seemed to have depth. Even though it had clear borders on the very sides, something seemed to creep past it.

Do not focus on it. Look away.

Those are the words of a mind bound by limitation and knowledge. If humanity survived through the sheer concept of knowledge, what would be the opposite of understanding?

"Nnn-nngh..."

The darkness spread from her wounds. It slowly eeked across Shin's shadowy tendrils, slowly moving through them to Shin.

Even the shadows themselves could be crushed by something as bizarre as this. Not just the darkness that was guided by Shin's fingers, but even the very shade on the ground was utterly devoured by this encroaching blackness.

"Haaah..."

But in her hair- it wasn't the red that faded. It was the brown. While the crimson dye faded from everywhere else, the young miss' hair was an exception. Yet even then, whenever even the slightest drop of red left her hair, it would turn into the same disturbing mass that littered the street.

"...Heeh..."

It had happened in an instant. And in that instant, all of the girl's pain seemed to fade. She smiled. Her grunts sounded not painful- but relaxed.

The darkness slowly moved to encroach both Shin and Jack.

And Matt...?

Of the blood she spilled, a single drop was already on Matthew. That's right, when she reached out her hand to him, he never moved out of the way.

That single drop... when the red gore turned black- it had started to grow. It ate at his shirt. And it didn't intend to stop there. It would grow. Grow. Grow...

Was the darkness trying to dine on him, like it did the shadows?

Thank goodness for Shin threatening him with violence! Otherwise, Matt would have been in the same position as the self-righteous do-gooder was. Granted, he was in a similar position, but it was not nearly as bad as the other two had it. In fact, he had one simple solution as the 'blood' began to eat away at his clothes.

He would simply grab the front of his shirt that was not being devoured by blood, and yank it off of himself. He didn't bother pulling it over his head or the like, like a normal person would. No, he would simply pull it off his body, ripping it at the seams thanks to his inhuman strength. Not only that, but it was a rather fast movement as well, thanks to his alchemically-enhanced physiology. After getting the shirt off, he'd continue the motion by throwing the article of clothing as far away from himself as possible.

"Well well, would ye look at that," he would say, the smugness of his voice practically palpable. "Looks like that yet another seemingly injured girl in the streets is actually just a trap. Honestly, when is it ever someone who's actually hurt?"

Oh dear! It seems that the girl he attempted to save was some kind of monster. Well that is certainly annoying. It also seems that it is attempting to consume his shadow. Well he definitely can't allow that.

Dismissing his blade Shin leapt backwards away from the creature. His movement without his blade breaking his control over the shadows. The darkness that was under his control dissipated and returned to its natural state. The darkness coming from the girl(?) no longer had anything to feed on.

With a few leaps Shin was on the other side of the street, extending a hand upwards. A tendril flew up, wrapping around a lamppost. Shin yanked on it and caused the shadow underneath him to surge upwards like a geyser. Propelling him so he was now crouching on top of the lamppost.

He watched the girl(?) with a wary eye. She was undoubtedly dangerous. Shin let out a soft sigh. "Perhaps father was right." He mused quietly."I should stop focusing on the saving and more on the hunting."

Creepy atmosphere, no scent of blood, creepy darkness, unnatural shapes and a girl who claims to have powers that aren't working. Yes. there is a good chance that this is realted to the incident at the park a while back.

Leaping backwards, Jack barked a command. "Do not under any circumstances let it touch you. I've seen this before. It steals powers." He rolled to the side, picking up the nearest heavy item. Which happened to be the manhole cover in the middle of the street.

He held it in one hand, ready to throw it like a discus or use it as a shield. He moved so that the three people present surrounded the creature in a triangle formation. His nails elongated his eyes golden. "Ready for round two asshole?"

"G-Gah... ow."

When Shin's tendrils were fully removed from her body, she fell to the ground like a harmless doll. It hurt, it all hurt. Everything hurt. Her body felt like it was tearing itself apart, but that's okay. Pain didn't matter. The wounds would heal. It's just something she had to endure, if for a little while. She could heal it all. If he is here, there is no need to hold back.

But it all really hurt. It hurt so much.

"Would you two... kindly stand back?"

It wasn't much of a threat coming from such a small girl. A girl bleeding so profusely. A girl whose voice was so completely tainted by pain. It was pathetic at best.

"I won't take responsibility... if you... u-urgh ... accidentally die."

After a short struggle, the girl was finally back on her feet. Her hands finally moved away from the wound in her stomach. The bleeding had finally stopped, and no more emptiness flowed from the wound. Instead, the blood that had been scattered across the street moved towards her body. Just like the very form they had, the way they moved was absolutely disgusting.

While looking at the darkness in it's natural state was already disorientating, seeing it move was outright painful. It simply made no sense. Human minds are incapable of comprehending this. Any human mind that tried would just find itself bursting in pain. Any human mind would find itself begging for the torture to end. Do not look. Do not stare. You aren't made to see this. Stop looking at it.

Her head and waist both were surrounded by a thin layer of the darkness. It quivered, it quaked. It forced itself back into her body.

It hurt. It hurt so much. There was so much blood, it was dirtied by everything it had devoured. Dust, pebbles- but even the air and shadows itself. It hurt. It hurt it hurt.

But it didn't matter if it hurt. It had to be done. Who cares if it hurts.

"Haaah..." All of her injuries were gone. The blow she had taken to the head, and the gash that marked her stomach. Even though her body was as pale as that of a corpse, her entire body had recovered of everything but the pain.

"Watch your tone, wolf... Any word you say now might become your last.."

The shadows she absorbed surrounded her left arm. It pulsed in and out- it seemed like it was chewing down on her arm. It seemed like it could rip it off. Like it could devour her right here. But it didn't. It wasn't attacking her at all. Even though it seemed to press down on her arm with enough force to crush it to a bloody paste, as it drained down, there was nothing.

She lifted her arm, holding it in front of her face before slamming it to the side. Once more, the darkness moved. And this time, its intent was clear. It latched onto the very air itself, forming into a large gate. A gate that grew, that grew, and that only grew.

...And as her hand grasped into the darkness...

She pulled out but a single object.

It was built like a small lance. It had a hilt about 5 inches long, covered completely in a large arm-guard. The golden hilt ended in a tiny one-winged eagle, and the guard was made out of gold but covered in black symbols... or maybe writing?

Truly, it showed that whoever crafted this blade was a master craftsman.

Which made the rest of the blade so much more terrifying.

The beautiful, decorated hilt turned into a long black blade. It was segregated at three points, and the blade itself seemed to slowly rotate. It was eerie. It did not seem like this weapon could be used to cut, it did not seem like anything but a ceremonial blade.

But with a single glance on it... you could see it.

The blade itself was not unlike the girl's darkness. It didn't matter how it was shaped. It was something above 'shape'. Even one glance at this weapon made it obvious.

This was object was not made for anything but murder and destruction.

"You can still surrender, wolf."

Finally, he words carried strength.

Goddamn, what the hell did he chose to stumble into now...?

He thought it was just going to be a quick and short trip to the grocery store, a convenient and useable enough excuse for going out at this time when it's raining. Really though, he thought it would be quick because he really doesn't quite enjoy being out here in the cold for so long.

And now he's seeing a fight seemingly about to break out in the middle of the street.

...A lot of thing is wrong here, but his first thought was, what kind of odd-minded people thought getting into a fight under the rain is a good idea?! Probably for the drama factor, but come on, be considerate for other people who actually doesn't like getting wet at least!

Priorities.

...Still, the heck is going on here though...? Some armed person is being surrounded by three others...

He's hiding for now. Away and out of sight, waiting to see how things pan out so he could get a better idea on what's going- "HEY! What are you guys doing?!"

...DAMMIT I JUST SAID HE'S HIDING!

So, let's keep tabs on what's happening so far. Currently, we have a werewolf, a demon-hunter, a certain black-haired kid, a shirtless Scottish Cyclops, and a formerly-injured girl who was now wielding a sword that hurt to look at. So, in other words, just another ordinary day by Hyakuji standards.

What wasn't present was anyone actually being hostile. And that wasn't something Matt was about to contribute to. If he could get out of this without actually fighting and go on his merry way, then good. So Matt would just stay put, keeping a careful eye on both the girl and Shin. Mainly because those were the two most likely to try and attack him currently. Though if push came to shove, he could probably beat both of them fairly easily. But in the meantime...

"Eya there Sam," Matt would say to Seth, off-handedly waving at the so-called Strongest while still looking at his two suspects. "I'd answer yer question, but I'm kinda in the dark about that right now. All I know is that I was enjoyin' a perfectly reasonable walk, found a bloody girl, got accused of bein' the one who hurt her, and then, suddenly, decomposition of me shirt."

Shin frowned. Still on top of the lamppost looking down at everyone present. He was glad that Seth had shown up. That sword the girl had pulled out looked to be extremely dangerous. Having the world's strongest man on their side helped even the odds.

"According to Jack-kun we have a power thief in our midst Ryouga-sempai." Shin piped up. Face curved into a small smile. His tone of voice back to its usual jovial tone.

He rubbed the back of his head. "But I'm afraid I'm rather attached to my powers so I wont be giving them up. I may also have to hurt you rather badly. For you see, you're pointing your weapon at my friend." His smile turned slightly sinister. "So I'm giving you a chance to surrender instead." He snaped his fingers. Again summoning his blade as he stood up, balancing on the lamppost looking down on everyone. "Leave or die. That is your choice."
