Woosh-Woosh! Remi Au Lait!
It had been a few weeks since Hibiki and Amitie's accident at the hot springs, where a monster had attacked and caused harm to the two of them, Hibiki ending up exhausted and bedridden for some time while Amitie possessed physical injuries to various areas on her body. And while Hibiki had acted as if nothing happened, the thoughts from that night still lingered, hiding in the darkest parts of her mind, just waiting to strike.

The truth is, she remembered and experienced it, all of it. Her mind was completely intact during that afternoon but her body was unable to respond. A power had rushed out from the center of her frame and coursed through her limbs, causing her to act before thinking. This rash behavior caused the scenery around her to crumble and the beast in front of her to wail out a pitiful cry, as her fist made impact on it's rough shell.

But once her power repelled the beast, her body turned towards the closest thing she could find. Amitie. As her mind shouted, crying for her arms to stop, she'd already wrapped her strong and powerful limbs around Amitie's body, pressing her in and nearly crushing the red-head in her grip. The voice inside her head continued to shout, powerless and unable to stop herself, as the whole experience made a permanent scar on her personality.

After that, Hibiki's mind had gone blank, as she awoke some time later in a bed. With Amitie there, injured, and her father, she made a quick recovery alongside her strong-spirited sister.

But the damage was done.

After the incident, Hibiki refused to transform, unless faced with actual danger. Whenever the orange-haired girl would focus, her body would respond with by shaking and draining all of her strength away. It was as if a mental barrier had been placed on her transformation, chaining her ability to access her latent powers with fear and regrets.

---

As time passed, Hibiki lived in peace, sticking to her usual routine along with her roommate, her father and her school life, using it to escape from her head, placing herself into something outside her reach so that she could focus on getting by. It wasn't uncommon for Hibiki to help others, as she aspired to do good with her abilities. So whenever the girl slipped out for a few hours to help someone track down a missing cat or deliver something across town, it seemed natural.

Recently, during the last week or so, her body felt extremely warm and exhausted. Naturally, Hibiki assumed she was working too hard, but this type of warmth was different. It was constantly there, growing, throbbing, building inside her heart. At times, it got rather painful, but she always managed to suppress the feeling after a few large breathes. For now, Amitie hadn't noticed this change, so Hibiki continued to lie about her state as she refused to let her close friend worry.

However, one morning, the feeling would peak, sending a rush of warm and painful energy through her entire body. It was akin to the feeling she felt back at the hot spring, but not to the point where she couldn't control herself. Hibiki woke up with a light yelp, as she rolled herself out of bed. With a very light thud, her knees landed on the floor, as she gazed up and watched for Amitie's reaction on the upper half on the bunk-bed.

No response. Apparently her sudden awakening had gone unnoticed. Although the pain was still there, even after Hibiki tried her usual breathing. She tried to stand up, wobbling towards the bathroom in an attempt to clean her face off. Proving ineffective, she then grasped for her clothes and hastily put her uniform on, leaving the dorm a few hours earlier than intended.

Right now, she just wanted to get out. She didn't want to continue this inside where Amitie could hear, as she refused to let her friend worry about her. Hibiki disliked putting burdens on others, especially those close to her. As she exited the dorm and moved out towards the streets, her first thoughts were to calm herself and release this excess energy with a walk. Her father had often said to do this whenever she felt too energetic, so jogging and exercising was nothing new for her. With her bag grasped around her right arm, Hibiki moved, making her way down the street with a light and brisk pace, heading towards the forest area.

-----

While her pace was very light, it quickly increased with each step she took, pushing herself further and further until she was practically running towards the forest, Hibiki failing to realize it as she dashed down the street and headed down one of the smaller roads that lead towards the the cold and dark forest. At this hour, the sun was still rising, so a bit of light shed on the path towards the forest, making it's presence known behind the trees and buildings.

Without realizing it, Hibiki threw her bag to the side as she took a sharp turn to the right. Right now, her body and her mind focused on two specific things. Running and releasing energy. While it felt like something was squeezing her heart, all this sprinting and release of energy helped ease the pain. As Hibiki's brisk jogging pace had turned into an all-out sprint, so had other features about Hibiki which she failed to realize.

Her hair was glowing. Normally, the girl possessed a very soft brown and orange hue on her locks. But right now, as she pushed herself to her limits, the beautiful brown had grown into a fierce red in various hues, as if someone had lit the top of her skull on fire. But that was far from the truth. This red and beautiful color was her hair. On top of this, Hibiki felt as if her body was just getting warmer, as the energy inside her started to build.

With another push, Hibiki would transform. The lock on her transformation was broken and replacing her normal school outfit was her standard transformation suit. The gauntlets formed along with the boots and the slim and skin-tight under-suit formed along her curves, her scarf popping out from her neck as her speed increased with her enhanced strength.

"I.. trans.. formed?"

The path Hibiki took lead up to the higher parts of the forest, as it was split into two sections for those who visited it. A higher part, which featured a small river and a better view of the city and a lower part which most people opted to visit instead, as it had a few resting spots and a beautiful waterfall which was the river on the upper half ended on. Unless you were exploring or training, you'd often find yourself taking the lower route, as it required little to no effort to traverse. If you wanted a challenge, you'd go for the path Hibiki was heading up. But even then, how Hibiki approached it was far different from your usual athlete.

She was sprinting up through it, cutting corners and moving in a straight line. Since the hill was very steep, a path had been formed which curved from time to time, allowing someone to take their time and climb. So taking the steep and straight approach would often exhaust someone within seconds. But right now, exhaustion didn't exist for Hibiki's body. Once she reached the top, it was as if she had taken a light jog through the city. She was panting, yes, but her body was filled with energy and she wouldn't feel any pain or strain on her muscles, not while she moved.

---

By now, an hour had passed since Hibiki's departure from her dorm and Amitie would've woken up from the alarm the two girls owned. In a few minutes or so, the smell of breakfast would fill their apartment up and her red-headed roommate would be working on waking her hungry friend up. Of course, that was if Hibiki had stayed home. Instead, the girl was sprinting through the forest, climbing a very steep hill and continuing to push in. The sun continued to rise in the distance and all the colors of the forest would bloom in front of her, as night turned to day in just a matter of minutes.

But none of this crossed Hibiki's mind. Not until she found herself tripping, landing right in front of the river. Her arms clutched into the grass on the ground and the pain inside her body caught up with her, as a very loud scream escaped her lips. Her body rolled over to the side and her hands wrapped over her chest, feeling the pain throb through her entire frame.

With each throb, the pain would echo through her limbs, pushing out from her center and ending at the tip of her fingers, toes and the top of her skull. Her arms squeezed in tighter around her chest as she tried to reach for the bag around her shoulder, completely forgetting about the fact that she threw it away a while ago. As her hands failed to grasp it, she'd roll over onto her stomach, panting and gasping out her noises of pain.

Right now, it felt as if someone were pulling and pushing her limbs back and forward, repeatedly sending jolts of pain through her flesh and bones, the pain getting worse with each go. Her arms released the grip around her chest and smashed down against the floor, her legs doing the same thing by kicking her heels down. From this, the armor on her limbs started to crack, shattering like glass as the pieces covered the ground around her. Her arms and legs raised themselves and smashed down again and again, all while Hibiki's pupil changed it's color and shape.

A star formed inside her eyes and the color on them switched to a clear and bright blue. Her body started to burn, now aching from warmth instead of pain, as she managed to stand up on her two feet. Her eyes surveyed the area and gazed upon the broken parts of her armor, all while it felt like her skin was coated with fire. Her arms wrapped around her chest again, squeezing itself in now that she had control of her limbs, as she limped towards the river nearby.

During this, her suit would start to burn off. The thin remains of her skin-tight suit would peel off and burn into ashes before gracing the floor, leaving the girl with nothing to wear. With a few more steps, she neared the river, eyes squinted and focused on the blue surface of the water, hoping she could stop this burning pain by drowning herself in the cool and refreshing river.

"One.."
"Two.."
"Three.."

Hibiki counted out loud to herself as her body splashed down into the cold water. For a moment, it worked, as it managed to cool her warm skin down for a few short seconds as her body was dragged along the current and towards the fall. None of this crossed her mind though, as she occupied herself with this cold and sweet bliss, all until the beating in her chest picked up, sending out warm and painful waves of energy as the feeling from earlier returned, this time at full force. If it wasn't for the fact that she could grasp her arm and feel it for herself, she could have sworn her entire body was on fire, her flesh burning and melting off her bones.

But before she could push herself out of the water, the river would do it for her, as she found herself falling through the air for what felt like an eternity. Her eyes were wide open and gazed towards the cliff, as she fell head-first towards the pool of water below. Her hands, previously over her chest, reached out for the edge, all while her body rocketed towards the pool, crashing into it with a large splash.

'Is this the end?'

A cliché'd line runs through her end, as she sinks into the water, submerged in it's rather welcoming cold. If only she could move her arms, if only she could kick herself up with her legs, if only the warm and painful feeling she tried to supress left her body. Powerless, her mind faded a bit as she continued to sink, losing herself in a distant and warm memory, a childhood she remembered dearly.

---

A few years ago, just a bit after she had her last major surgery, Hibiki suffered from a similar pain she felt today. As a child, she easily went berserk and lost control of her power due to the relic that merged with her heart. To counter this, a few scientists along with her father, created an artificial organ that was placed just behind her heart. The surgery itself took nearly a day, as they had to be careful and prevent harm to her body. This device, this newly created organ, had one major purpose. It created the same kind of calming effect a tranquilizer had to her body, in that it slowed down her blood pressure and kept her energy levels stable so that she could focus on her every day life without going berserk.

However, since the pain after the surgery hadn't gone away after a few months, she worried and spoke to her father about it. Ever since that day, she had problems with transforming, similar to her current state where her mind put a lock on her abilities. This was because her body was trying to adapt with the new piece of flesh inside her chest. So whenever she tried to force her abilities out, a very weird and uncomfortable sensation echoed through her limbs, causing her to give up.

Hibiki couldn't grasp the concept of pain back then, so to her, it all felt very unplesant. When she tried to explain this feeling to her father, how she wanted to transform but gave up at the slightest bit of issue, he chuckled and placed his large palm on top of her small head. Minami Gen was relaxed at all times and tackled each situation involving Hibiki with a very calm and reassuring smile, letting her know that everything was going to turn out fine. He never had all the answers nor would his advice make sense most of the time, but whenever he would explain something to her in his very odd and straight-forward way, it all made sense to her.

"So you want to transform.. but you can't because of some odd feeling?"
"Whenever.. I focus.. it's.. all cold and uncomfortable.."
"So you gave up?"

He leaned forward, piercing into Hibiki mind with his sharp yellow eyes, as his hand traveled down and grasped onto her shoulder. The normally calm and upbeat father she'd grown to love got very serious with her with an expression she's only seen once or twice in the past.

"W-w.. well.. yeah.. I.. can't.."

"Of course you can't, not by giving up as soon as something goes wrong." He cleared his throat and got up from his seat, hand still holding his daugther by the shoulder. "You can't just let something uncomfortable get in your way with these things, Hibiki. If you want something, if you really want something, you've got to give it your all. Holding back because something doesn't feel right or because you're scared won't cut it."

He leaned down and positioned his face right in front of hers, shifting his expression back into a calm but still very serious smile. His other hand moved from his side to her chest and poked towards the spot where the scar on her chest were, a permanent mark on her body caused by her surgery.

"So go ahead! If you want it, do it. Don't let anything stop you. Fire up that heart of yours and do what you do best! Going all out is healthy for you, especially when you're doubting yourself like this! Now come on, take a deep breath and.."

---

"TRANSFORM"

---

Hibiki's body, sinking into the pool near the waterfall, started to glow. She felt warmer and warmer, returning to the same kind of sensation she felt before. It was unbearable, like her bones were aching and screaming for help. But even then, she wouldn't give up. If she wanted herself to get out of this mess, she had to do it. No matter how painful or warm it would get, she had to constantly push herself through it.

She had to fire up her heart.

In response to these feelings, her hair quickly flared up inside the pool and her body seemed to be floating up towards the surface, rather than sinking and drowing into the cold lake below. Her arms moved across her chest, squeezing around her small frame as her legs would start to kick herself up. She heated up. Her limbs were warm. Her head was warm. Her heart was on fire. With a sudden burst of energy, the girl leapt up from the water and into the air, a trail of flames flying out from her feet as she continued to soar, up towards the cliff and beyond it.

Her hair flared up like flames and a suit started to form over her body. Her legs were covered in very tall and white boots and a soft and warm fabric started forming from her chest and along her arms, her two limbs still wrapped around her chest and stomach. Her head leaned back and stared towards the sky, as a red set of shells formed over her ears, sliding out an orange-tinted visor which covered her star-pupiled eyes.

The cloth from her torso continued to form over her body as it connected with her boots, forming a large suit over her body with a scarf that seemed to grow out from her throat, covering both her neck and her mouth up with the two ends hanging behind her back, mixed in with her bright and colorful hair. As her body passed the trees and continued to soar, the girl would let out a loud and clear scream. Not from pain, but from happiness. As her body transformed in this new and bizzarre way, a pain was lifted from her heart. Not only that, but she felt stronger, warmer and much more energetic than before.

Hibiki's body stopped in the air, as she gazed forward and towards the city itself. Her arms were still crossed and a smile grew on her lips, while her nose took in a large breath of the cool and fresh morning air. The pain in her body was gone and had been replaced with a comfortable and soothing warmth, all while her energy and her strength had bounced back to normal.
