Jaret's dreams upon falling asleep would not be his usual ones. Instead, Jaret would find himself seated at a table across from a man wearing a rough tunic and leather breeches. The table was lit by a single candle and darkness surrounded them on all sides. The man, who Jaret could see was heavily scarred and had part of his ear and several fingers missing spoke after a moment of silence. "I have sensed in you a strong fighting spirit. Strong enough to wake the slumber of He Who Reigns Eternal. As such, he would extend you an invitation to temper your strength in a crucible of unmatched challenge. Should you accept, then you will be granted a chance at something all men dream of. Does such an offer interest you?" the man asked, his eyes fixed upon Jaret. |

Jaret was somewhat annoyed. Ever since he made it to the mortal plane his dreams were usually much more pleasant. But now he had this strange offer instead of his usual peaceful dreams. He stared at the man for a moment before he spoke up. "What I desire may be different from other men. But your offer intrigues me. Tell me what would happen to me if I refuse or fail this challenge. Jaret made a motion for the man to continue. If there was no ridiculous price for failure such as the cost of his soul or death. Jaret would agree to the man's offer. The demon doesn't really know what it is he really wants at the moment. Perhaps learning what it is all men seek would be enlightening for him. Edited by Epicjester, Aug 16 2014, 01:05 PM.

The man chuckled, "Those with the strength to overcome the challenge will be granted a high honor. A chance at that which all men dream of. Should you lose, you will be returned to your body, and you will forget all you have seen, heard, and done." he replied. "The Emperor has no use for those who lack the strength to overcome that which stands in their way, or the courage to fight despite overwhelming odds." An intricately carved wooden staff appeared in his hand and he stood up, "But should you succeed, you shall be granted a chance at strength beyond that of mortal men." |

Jaret stood up and shifted to his demonic form. "My strength is far beyond mortal men. But I accept your offer." He cast his arms wide. "Throw whatever challenges you wish at me. I was raised in Hell. There is nothing you can summon that would frighten me." He smashed his fist against his chest. The impact echoing throughout the void. "I am Jaret the Hell-wanderer and I will show you the meaning of strength." |

"Then choose your weapon." the man stood up and gestured to the table which grew in size until it was three times as large as before. Upon it's surface were countless ancient weapons of all kinds and styles. From the Eastern Japanese katana, to the Western halberd. "Choose your weapon, then step forward." said the man. A loud clattering sound echoed as a line of light appeared behind the man. The light slowly grew brighter, illuminating a gateway of some kind, though Jaret could not see beyond it. "Step forward, and fight, for Honor, Fame, and Glory!" the main exclaimed, slamming his staff down hard, creating a sound that echoed through the darkness. |

Jaret inspected the weapons there. At first he inspected the Japanese katana as it was the closest. He gave it an experimental swing at the ground, and to no surprise to him it easily broke. The flimsy sword was no match for the demon's titanic strength. He instead seized the largest heaviest weapon there. A huge warhammer that would be able to survive a few impacts from Jaret's overwhelming strength. His weapon chosen, Jaret strode towards the light. And towards his challenge. |

The light blinded Jaret as he walked through, but only for a moment. When his vision cleared, it was to the sight of stacks upon stacks of large wooden boxes and shipping containers. It was clear he was in some kind of warehouse. One that had not seen much use if the rust was any indication. At first glance, there was no sign of his opponent. The boxes and shipping containers did a pretty good job of blocking his view. The only thing he could see over the tops of them, was a large stack of boxes in the center of the warehouse that might make a good scouting position from which to search the warehouse. |

It seemed he was in some kind of warehouse. His opponent was nowhere in sight. The only remarkable landmark was a stack of boxes in the middle of the area. It seemed to be a good scouting position. Best get rid of it before his opponent can use it. Leaping up high, Jaret decided to use his weapon. He wasn't a fan of mortal weapons. They broke far to easily for his taste. He couldn't really let loose with them. He missed his hellforged steel blade that he left back at his place of birth. That was the only weapon he ever had that could withstand his titanic strength. So he instead threw his hammer at the stack of boxes. It screamed through the air, with an absurd amount of force behind it. Straight towards the stack. |

The warhammer smashed the boxes and struck something hard. Something metal. A tolling sound like that a church bell made when rung echoed through the warehouse. It was loud and the way it echoed was headache inducing. The stack of boxes shook and exploded outward in a spray of broken wooden boards and old nails. beneath the boxes was a 20 foot tall monstrosity that closely resembled an oversized cast iron stove with jointed, crane-like arms ending in a pair of claws made for grabbing and crushing. It sat on six sturdy looking legs that were bolted to the concrete floor and it's head looked like a cross between a smokestack and a medieval knight's helmet The metallic behemoth creaked and groaned as it raised it's arms, letting out a loud bellow that sounded like the screech of metal on metal and the sound steam makes as it escaped a kettle. |

Ah ha! Jaret knew that throwing his weapon was a good call. If he had gone over to the stack of crates he would have been within range of the golem's grasp. Oh well, time to jump in there and start punching things. With another surge of strength from his powerful legs, Jaret launched himself off the ground. Both fists extended, he flew at high speed towards the knee joint of the leg that was closest to him. Intent on testing the constructs armour and seeing how his strength matches up. |

The behemoth's massive metal body spun like a top. its claws coming around to swat Jaret out of the air like a fly. Even should he manage to strike the legs, his strike would do little more than cause another echo in the body of the creature. The claws of the creature began grabbing boxes, raising them up and dropping them into the belly of the beast via a chute that opened in the back. From within the monster came a loud crunching sound as the boxes and their contents were reduced to splinters. |

Curses! A reckless head on assault didn't work. Instead it sent Jaret flying towards a metal shipping container. The impact denting the steel as he crashed into it. Shaking off the impact. Jaret popped back in the shoulder that was dislocated from the impact. His potent healing factor already numbing the pain. Oh well, Time to throw stuff. Flexing his mighty muscles. Jaret bent downwards, and seized the shipping container. With a roar he sent the container flying towards the behemoth. That container was soon followed by two others. And then a rather annoyed Jaret. He caught up to one of the containers that was in flight and used it as a springboard. Launching himself until he was directly over the steel titan. With another mighty roar. Jaret launched a stream of Hellfire downwards at his opponent. If he has to he will melt the steel off it. |

The first two containers were swatted down by the claws while the third was caught and crushed like a soda can. Getting grabbed would not be good. The golem was then bathed in the black flames of the netherworld, but instead of melting it, the flames were drawn into the large metal grate on the front of the behemoth. The skin of the creature began to heat up and smoke began to pour from it's smoke stack as an orange glow shone from the grate and the eyes of the golem. The monstrosity let our another bellow, belching out a thick cloud of smoke as it placed the crushed container in it's chute and began crushing it down to scrap metal. |

"This is starting to become irritating." Jaret thought, as he continued his flight over the golem. Landing on the other side. He launched two more nearby creates at the beast. But this was just to distract it. With another surge of strength Jaret flew through the air. But his target was not the golem, but his discarded warhammer. Seizing his prize as he flew through the air. Jaret Landed next to more shipping containers, Using the same tactic that gave him an opportunity before. Jaret launched three shipping containers at the golem and used another one as a springboard. But this time was different. He didn't discard his weapon. Instead as he reached the point where he was over the golem's head he was currently level with the warehouse's roof. Kicking off the roof. Jaret shot downwards at an incredible speed. Spinning to add momentum to his hammer's blow as he did so. If the beast attempted to grab or swat him with its claws, they would have to deal with being hit by the massive amount of force that Jaret had built up. |

The golem made no attempt at grabbing him and was struck hard on the shoulder, causing the plates to buckle and split. A rush of intense heat and the smell of molten slag escaped the golem's wound and it bellowed loudly as it swatted at him. The claws meanwhile had deflected the first two containers and now fed the third to the chute. After being struck on the shoulder, the left side began to move more sluggishly, though the arms continued to feed metal into the chute. |
