Emmet stumbled into his room, clumsily sitting down at his personal desk. He'd been drifting in and out of consciousness since he finished class. If he did some work, he was sure he'd be fine. He sifted his arms over his desk, sound of fallen papers and cups barely heard. The sunset seemed to blind him, but eventually he managed to obtain a paper and pen. He prepared to write...what was it again...he didn't know. He would remember it if he just kept working, he was sure. The pen, the words, the room around him seemed to warp and bend. What was happening!? The nightmares, they'd been worse than normal lately. Frequent, abstract, all too real, it seemed like their was no respite from them. For the past few days, Emmet had been keeping himself awake, trying to keep his mind off of them. No one seemed to really notice how out of it he was, so it didn't really matter. Anything to get away from those dreams, those memories, when it would try take command. It would move slowly up his arm, take it's time to make sure he noticed, was it enjoying this? He would struggle, but it would never work, the sensation was gone, was it ever there? He was helpless, fighting a losing battle against something he couldn't hope to comprehend. It would crawl over him, he could see it at first, but it would put a stop to that.. The inky blackness moved into his vision, but it wasn't his anymore, he could see his eye clearly, the blackness overtaking it. He couldn't move, couldn't help himself, just sit and watch and feel the pain as it overtook him. His vision clouded over with white...this was it... "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, members of the press...." Emmet lolled his head away from his desk. A paper followed him, but he quickly removed it, cleaning the drool off of them both. He stared at the paper as his eyes adjusted to the light. It was filled with scribbles and gibberish. He moved the paper towards the trash bin next to his sofa, pausing to frown as he noticed he hadn't moved from his seat. He retracted his left arm, shuffling over to to the bin on foot, stumbling onto the sofa as he finished the trash deposit. Emmet couldn't help but ask questions in his head. He felt strange, like he'd had his first rest in days. Why was it so dark out, hadn't the sun been setting? Why hadn't he turned his television off before he slept? It's been a long and hard day for many of us, so I'm merely here to report the facts, as we have managed to piece together." Said television interrupted his thoughts. At current, it appeared that some sort of press conference was being held by a well kept woman. (Had he seen her somewhere before?). It seemed important, and Emmet didn't feel like moving to turn it off just yet. He rubbed his eyes as the broadcast continued. "As you all know, earlier today, renegade students, faculty, and graduates of Hyakuji Highshool attacked and destroyed both the Magic Mall and Doki Doki Land Amusement Park. The resulting damage is still being tallied as we speak." "Reportedly, one of our Riders, OOO, participated in the attack on Doki Doki land, and directly caused the destruction of much of the park... ...We are investigating this, and I expect a preliminary report shortly... ...We do not know what caused the Rider to join the actions, but such is not the official stance of BOARD.. ...To this end, we have re-activated many of our reserve personnel, including myself and are now forming a task force.." ...We express our deepest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of those killed and wounded... ...Thank you very much, I will not be taking questions at this time." Emmet sifted through the few pictures of the wreckage he could find online. How could he have missed this, it seemed so strange. If he had been there, could he have helped? He wasn't that strong, or smart, or fast, or skilled. Perhaps he could have...grabbed someone from a distance? No, he couldn't. He was useless, unimportant. The others would probably solve this problem just fine without him. They would have a big fight with some bad guy, save the day, and Emmet would mope around the school, whining and moaning about his arm and how useless and pitiful he was, never taking initiative or doing anything of use. Emmet opened his closet, grabbing his favorite grey shirt and slacks. He started his shower, beginning to consider how he could help. Before long, he once again hit a mental wall. What could he do? 'Could I...no...maybe I...It's not that strong...Gaah, damn it!' "Maybe I could go move rocks for them..." Emmet paused. His attempt at sarcasm, it wasn't very impressive. But the rocks thing, it reminded him of something. He finished his shower and began to dress. He could move rocks, and he could search for things under them. He could try to investigate the scene of the crimes himself. He had some experience, he could record what he found, maybe see some nice sights along he way. He could have have his own little adventure! But where would he go first? He considered his options as he brushed his hair. The woman on the podium had said they were investigating that weird theme park, one of their Rider guys had been there. They probably simply hadn't mentioned the mall, but it was still sounding a bit more simple over there... Emmet decided that it might help to travel a bit light. He took a knee at his Duffle-Bag, quickly removing several items from it, taking extra care with a peculiar shoe-box. The final item he grabbed, a camera, Emmet kept hold of. He zipped the bag up, placing it over his shoulder as he opened his door. He attempted to sneak quietly through the outside hallway towards a stairway. The trip was nerve-wracking, partly because Emmet was trying very hard to keep quiet, but mostly because he second guessed himself the entire trip. 'This is a terrible plan, I came up with it in the shower!' 'Why am I even trying this, when I know I'm just gonna get caught?' After what seemed a millennium of slow movement, Emmet reached the stairway. He began to descend, squelching those despairing thoughts as he went. 'It might not be the best plan ever, but it's better than just sitting around my room all day!' 'I've heard some of the others say that it's easy to sneak out. It can't be that hard...' Reaching the bottom of the staircase more hopeful than before that he could do this task, Emmet moved as quickly and quietly as he could towards the front door of the building. As he opened the door and scurried outside, he hoped desperately that he would not be caught. |

Emett wasn't the only ones for plans around the mall. A young brown-haried mage who went by the name of David Mason had also snuck into the mall. Keeping low to the ground, the young mage did his best not to be seen. Why was he here at the mall? Well, he had heard of the mess that had transpired here. And the aspiring wizard intended to investigate the area. While he was no investigator, he though he might as well pitch in for the oncoming fights in the way Harry Dresden and John Constantine taught him. In other words, David was going to fight as underhandedly as possible to take down much more powerful opponents. "Tom survey the area. I want you to find something I can use." Wordlessly, his familiar rose from its resting place and flew off around the mall. As he watched familiar fly off, David closed his eyes and tried to pick up on the magical energy that echoed throughout the area. Despite himself, David grinned. He could feel the remnants of Hiro's magical energy throughout the mall. This was the level of power that David aspired to reach. If he could even reach the level where a mage like Hiro could acknowledge him, he would be content. Edited by Epicjester, Aug 12 2014, 08:20 PM.

Upon arriving at the mall, the true levels of devastation would become appallingly apparent. Barely anything was standing at this point. Ashes on the ground, ruined walls with multiple holes in them, so much debris... And in the center of it all, the impact crater left from the attack that had finished the entire fight. It looked as if a small mercenary group had used the mall as target practice, and then some. In the cold dead of night, it was as if walking through years-old ruins, due to the lack of people there at the moment. Could this mall have really been perfectly fine earlier that morning? Just being here felt...strange. Was it because of the magics that Hiro had unleashed? The stories some civilians told of the very shadows forcing them out if they were too slow? The reports of onlookers of terrible and frightening powers on display? It almost felt like the mall was a haunted grave. Looking around like this wasn't going to be easy, that much was for sure... |

David frowned as he surveyed the area. The air was thick with the remains of magical energy. It was a shame he wasn't here when it happened. Perhaps he could have done something to help. He decided to hop down to the crater in the middle of the food court and slipped on a pair of gloves. No sense contaminating any evidence. Just like his familiar, David began searching for clues as he checked the first floor. Perhaps he could find something here that could help the others in his struggles. A hair, a drop of blood, a suspicious piece of paper even a torn piece of clothing would be helpful in a situation like this. He kept his staff drawn, maybe it was just because it was late at night and the mall was eerily quiet. David was unnerved, but not deterred. He did not plan to go home empty handed. As his master searched the first floor, Tom flew over the second. The spirit making no sound as it drifted through the air. As determined as its master to find something useful. |

It was worse in person. Emmet had thanked the stars he'd actually gotten away with sneaking out. Turns out it really wasn't that hard. He'd also had to run to mall on foot, but he didn't really mind. What he did mind was the state the mall was in. It was completely totaled. It was barely recognizable as having been anything but a ruin. There weren't even that many people around, just a skeleton crew milling about. They certainly weren't helping alleviate the feel that he'd just walked into a graveyard. He put those thoughts out of his mind as he advanced into the wreckage. It wasn't a very pleasant endeavor, what with the fear of being caught rearing it's head once more. The fact that someone else had beaten him to punch hadn't helped either. He couldn't tell from a distance who they were, but he could see that they were following a glowing ball of some sort. Emmet moved in to investigate, though this was quickly halted. A metallic crunch emanated from his feet. Investigation revealed the culprit to be a...chopped up soda can? Shaking his head, Emmet turned back towards the figure, surprised as he noticed there was no one there. He once again began to investigate the area, disappointed that he'd let a potential suspect escape. The search didn't help with that feeling. He'd come here looking for something that might clue him in on the attackers motivation, but all he'd found were remnants of a battle. He kept his search up, taking special care to record as much of the scene as he could. His thoughts, however, were turned to the theme park. Maybe there was something there that might clue him in o the motive? He debated with himself on this as he investigated. |

David was on edge. The deserted Mall was definitely starting to creep him out. The slightest sound would be enough for him to send him over the edge. A sound like someone stepping on a soda can ought to do it. Spinning around acting more on instinct than anything else. David raised his staff, the runes inscribed upon it glowing with a deep blue light. "Show yourself!!" He barked a command in the direction of the sound. If the newcomer decided to run, he would find David in hot pursuit, after firing a pressure bolt at their legs in a effort to trip them up. This newcomer can be considered a suspect, and David had no intention of letting them get away without being questioned. |

Emmet pressed himself up against the remains of a nearby wall. The suspect was still here! He peered through a hole in the wall he pressed himself upon. They appeared to be holding a weapon of some sort, looked like it was glowing. More importantly, it appeared they were pointing it in the wrong direction. Had they noticed someone else? It didn't matter. What did was that for once, Emmet had the element of surprise! But what he would do with it. His friends used to make up plans for this kind of thing, but he could never remember them.. 'Okay, step one, go to crime scene, did that...' 'Step two, follow suspect, yep....' 'Step three, have them reveal themselves, did that for me...' 'Uhhh, Step Four, right, right!' Readiying himself for his next move, Emmet quickly moved to the backside of the suspect. Taking several deep breaths, he prepared to utilize a loud and intimidating voice. "W-What are you doing here..." It came back quickly, the reason they never actually used those plans. |

David spun around. His suspect had gone and snuck up on him. He was about to let loose his prepared spell, but paused when he realised what he had been asked. Hesitating for a moment, he lowered his staff, the runes now fading until they were no more that scratches in the wood. "Investigating the area." He spoke evenly, though his staff was dropped, he still gathered his power in his free hand. If the newcomer was hostile he would be in for a nasty surprise. "Why are you here?" He questioned. "It's a little late for some shopping." |

Was he stupid? Emmet asked himself an honest question. He pondered it for a moment. He would have to take a long hard look in the mirror when this was over. Reality came hurtling back as the young man before him spoke. Seemed they'd both had a similar idea. Noticing the lowered weapon, Emmet began to happily provide his own answers. He halted as he noticed the gathering energy in the young man's other hand. He couldn't let his guard down just yet. Taking a cautious stance, Emmet began to slowly circle the young man, keeping his face forward. As he did this, he once again started to answer questions. "Same reason as you. I saw a T.V report about the attack. I came over to look for something that might clue me in on the motive." |

(OCC: MUST. SUMMON. WINZY!!!!!!!!) It seems that there was another investigator present. David didn't recognise the boy, but followed his movements with a steady gaze. Although he did release the power he was gathering as a sign of peace. "It seems our goals align. Have you found anything?" He questioned. Perhaps this boy had found some answers. "If you've found anything such as blood or hair let me know. I can make use of that." If the other boy found nothing, David would return to his investigation. Scouring the food court for clues. While the interrogation was taking place. Tom was still doing his circuit of the mall. Since its master was busy, the spirit stopped in it's investigation of the second floor and floated down to the first. Now searching the area around the crater while its master was occupied. |

"Alright. Who's out here?" A flash of light, from a flashlight, ignited and looked around the area, before settling on the two assembled students. It seems in their talking, they attracted the attention of someone who was already here. In the shadows stood a tall-ish man, no taller than 6 feet, perhaps a few inches shorter. It was hard to tell exactly what he looked like, but he seemed to have short black hair, and was wearing all black, save for a lighter-colored jacket. A red glint could be seen from the man's chest, though what was causing it was hard to tell. "...You two sure aren't suppose to be out here. I'd suggest leaving right away." He said, in a somewhat stern tone. It could be inferred quite easily that they weren't in any immediate danger, but this man certainly didn't want these two people here. |

Emmet tensed up almost immediately as the flashlight trained on them. He was really going to need to be a bit more focused in the future. He shook his head. There were more pressing matters to attend to. The man before them was obscured, but it seemed as though he was an adult of some sort. Emmet could definitely remember the plans they used for these situations! He quickly closed the distance between him and the boy beside him, grabbing his shoulder and attempting to obscure his still recording camera from view. He would have to speak fast for this to work. "Uhh, we were just about to leave anyway, sir! This place is useless, worthless, broken down, completely unnaceptable for our high standards of quality! Ya see, me and my friend Josh here, this is Josh by the way, we represent our schools well respected and important newspaper club and we have come here in the dead of night to take pictures of these ruins for our popular article about.....uh, uuuhhhh..." Emmet panicked internally. How was he losing steam so fast?! He was about to flub it again, he was terrible at this! No, no, he couldn't screw this up. Maybe he could bring it back, maybe he could work with this. Sighing audibly, Emmet began to speak once more, now adopting a much slower and calmer tone. "...Nothing. We came out here to look for stuff. Some of our friends were in that mall attack, and they dropped some things in the panic. But it was completely pointless looking here, it's all trashed and stuff. Like, Dave's girlfriend, this is Dave by the way, she dropped her phone when a mob of peopled pushed her, and, heh, that was just so simple to find, right! I mean look at all this junk, it's like a needle in a haystack! I don't even know why I thought this was a good idea, coming here like this. I mean, I'm tired, I haven't been sleeping well lately, I've been doing some really stupid things cause of that. You know, I was thinking, hoping really, that I was going to get over here and stumble upon some big clue that would make everything so clear and solve all the problems, but that was definitely not in the bag. Gaah, I wish I'd just stayed over at that park I passed, that place looked so beautiful, but nooooo, I had to be an investigator, try to subconsciously live up to the standards set by my old friends. Man, do you sometimes just feel so conflicted, like your torn between two different versions of yourself, warring for dominance. It's so weird, right...." Emmet paused, noting the strange turn his little lie had taken. Seemed like he really did need some sleep. He shook his head, beginning to try to direct his acquaintance towards the nearest exit of the ruins by the shoulder. As he did so, he couldn't help but feel curious about the man before him. Speaking up for hopefully the last time in a good while, Emmet posed an innocent question. "So, uh, what are you doing here?" |

David raised an eyebrow at Emmet's lie. He was really tripping over himself. But David decided to go along with the lie. "He's right my girlfriend.... Homura dropped her phone when the mall was attacked. My friend James and I decided to see if I could find it in the rubble." But planted his feet when Emmet tried to push him. "Yes what are you doing here at this hour?" He sent a mental command to his familiar to float halfway between David and the stranger. The golden globe glowing brighter in an effort to illuminate the newcomer's face and reveal his identity. All while this was hapening, David began gathering small amounts of power to his fingers. Not enough to be noticed as a preparation for an attack, to anyone else it would just feel like the mage was circulating power throughout his body. But David was on edge, this newcomer unnerved him greatly. |

"A...ha." The man said, flatly, as one of the pair rambled on and on, going on tangents, before finally being questioned about his purpose in regards to being here. "Looking for lost possessions...A noble goal and all, especially for a girlfriend!" He said, ignoring the question for now, nodding at the supposed nobility. "Unfortunately, I don't think you'll find it." He said, rather bluntly, turning away from the duo and pointing his flashlight at the crater. "Sadly enough, everything in the direct center of the blast was pretty much obliterated. Everything outside the blast zone, as you can see, was ripped apart by blasts of some kind. It's made recovering evidence a nightmare. I don't think any phones were recovered. Well. working phones. All in all the possible evidence we've managed to locate that might have some link could fit inside a shoe box." The man moved a bit closer to kneel down at the edge of the crater. "Planned out disturbingly well. If it even is planned. Fast, with a guaranteed escape. The police department has it's work cut out. Just protecting civilians will eat up all our people." He said, his face not shaking at all. It just kept a...vague smile the entire time. He stood back up, before turning back to the two, a hand reaching inside his coat, pulling something out. A flash of light, and a golden glint. "Detective Akatsuki. Hyakuji PD." |
