The Book that is Hyakuji's Story has come to a close. However, there are still plenty of stories left to be told in the madcap Anime Universe it inhabits. The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)
|
"Tch..." A oily, blackened hand grasped the doorknob after unlocking it, pressing it open as the slightly tattered form of Shad Hornswell slumped in. Obviously the explosion did a lot more than what it was supposed to do, covering him in motor oil and tearing sections of his robe here and there. His eyes were pretty much dead at this point, his mind completely fixated on what he saw at the mall. "Why?" He asked himself, closing the door behind him and locking himself in, breathing heavily doing so. "Why?" "Why?" "Why?" "Because you're weak." He turned to the left, seeing himself as a tree-like humanoid, completely naked with branches sprouting here and there and leaves for hair. "Because you are the real coward here. You abandoned the goal of revenge." "Hmmph, and you're so much better?" A angelic version of Shad stated firmly, with 3 pairs of white wings, adjourned in a silver robe. "There was nothing he could have done in that situation. The fact he is alive means that whoever this Hiro is, he doesn't want to kill. Just destroy property." "And that alone shows that he needs a better strategy. Throwing stuff didn't work, and now that he has a sword that nullifies magic, something that he never revealed before, we can't simply enlarge the buttons on his shirt or crush him with the change in his pocket." A devilish version said, with hooves for feet and ram horns growing on his head. "Umm...who are all of you?" Shad asked, completely confused by all these odd-looking, yet handsome copies of himself, as he collected a new super ball from his desk drawer. "Nothing really. You don't have anyone to talk to since you're completely alone, and picturing us as your 'guardians' despite us not being here. Simply put, all those gas fumes got to you from the trashed parking lot, and thus you're talking to yourself. Should wear off in a few more minutes." The tree version said bluntly. "Either that, or you've suffered truama from the fact you lost." "I didn't lose." Shad muttered, going over to the closet to swap the damaged robes for a fresh set, including a pointed hat. "He blew the mall up before I could come back with a reflective mirror." "Keep telling yourself that, but it was the shadow user who committed that crime. You saw him, but you didn't care since revenge was the only thing on your mind. Anger leads to foolish choices. And you could have tried to fight him close-up had your fear of his sword got in the way." The angel version said calmly, pointing out the obvious. "Didn't even bother to keep the mall from falling apart either or blocking Hiro's or the shadow users attacks from destroying the walls and pillars. You messed up big time." The devil version mocked him openly. "Fine, I know. I screwed up. I saw a opportunity to face down someone just as strong as Hiro-sensei, but was defeated nonetheless. I guess with all this power, I've never actually got a chance to weild it properly. Facing that impostor was like a wake-up call to refine my technique, to use size effectively on a single target. I never faced a foe that can overpower so many, and that's why I need a way to keep them contained to keep people from getting hurt." He picked out the stuff from his old robe to insert into his new one's pockets, fishing out one of the gumballs he 'acquired' off the floor. A sly smirk formed on his face recalling what kind of gumball it is, as plans began to form in his mind, just as the three visions vanished into nothingness, now that Shad seemed to have some understanding of where to go from here as he suited up for the task at hand, with 7 foot semi-tungsten steel rod ready to engage. "And I think I know just how to go about doing it." |
