Nanomechanical enhancement
Which is basically just a fancy way of saying that he has nanobots in his body. Said nanobots are completely undetectable, as they self-destruct immediately upon leaving the body. The passive benefits include enhanced speed and strength, resting just at the limit for what’s possible for a human being, as well as a heightened rate of perception, allowing him to react quickly in dangerous situations. In addition, the machines also increase his healing speed, to the point where a wound that would take a week to heal for anyone else would only take a day for Mikhail.

The nanobots also provide Mick with another ability, one he can use at will. He can access and control any piece of technology he makes direct contact with. However, he can’t access and process information using this ability, and he’s still restrained by firewalls and passwords when attempting to access computers. When he uses this ability, it looks as though the part of his body connected to the machine is melting into it.

Personality Description:
Mick is generally a very laid-back person. He isn’t the type to let things get under his skin easily, and for the most part is a very friendly to everyone. He tends to roll with the punches, and doesn’t take things too personally. However, his relaxed approach to life doesn’t make him lazy, as he’ll put everything he’s got into getting something done if it’s important. He’s also not one to mince words, and can be pretty blunt sometimes, not even realizing it if he’s being insensitive or rude. However, underneath this easygoing persona lays a very bad temper, and if someone actually manages to make Mick angry, it takes a lot to talk him down. Among the few things that actually anger him, arrogant people are at the top of the list, especially if they have no real reason for their pride. He also detests bullies, though strangely he won’t get angry if someone messes with him, only if he sees someone else getting picked on.

While his adoptive family is wealthy, he doesn’t like using their money for anything, and would much rather pay for things out of his own pocket, unless it’s absolutely necessary. His reasoning behind this is that he didn’t do anything to earn it, so why should he use it? Mick is also very reluctant to talk about his powers, more specifically their origins. He doesn’t want to have to remember that time any more than learning about his powers has already made him. Furthermore, he doesn’t even want to think about what could happen if he went berserk again. He’s perfectly fine using his abilities in front of people though; he just doesn’t want to discuss them. He’s also severely afraid of doctors, so much so that it’s comical. He can’t stand going to the doctor’s, and will fight it to the bitter end, no matter how much he needs the medical attention. Basically, if you wear a white coat and carry a syringe, he wants you nowhere near him.

Personal History:
Mick knows absolutely nothing about his birth parents, but his assumption is that they were too young, or otherwise unprepared for a child, and so they gave him up, probably with the hopes that he would have a good life. Well, that plan backfired spectacularly. That’s not to say it was a bust from the get-go. In fact, for the first five years of his life he was pretty happy. He was living in a group home, granted, but it wasn’t that bad. Then, he was “adopted” by a seemingly friendly couple, who then proceeded to take him back to a testing facility. The “couple” were actually scientists who had been working on a nanotechnology experiment for quite some time, attempting to make the perfect weapon, which they would then sell to the highest bidder. However, every one of their prior test subjects had either died shortly after being injected by the prototypes, or lost their sanity afterwards. So they decided that if the subject in question was still developing, maybe the body wouldn’t reject the nanobots so harshly. So, they began the series of experiments that lead to Mick gaining his abilities.

Mick himself doesn’t that time, aside from the pain from the injections, as well as the researchers always assuring him that he would be all right “because we’re doctors”. After the initial round of injections, the scientists on the team kept him under observation for a period of months, to make absolutely sure their “product” was ready to go on the market. They had had some close calls with other test subjects, so they also kept him in isolation at all times. At first, it seemed like the boy would wind up like all the others. He was experiencing all the same symptoms: Paranoia, hallucinations, and pain. However, after a while it all subsided, and he came out looking no worse for wear. The scientist congratulated themselves on their success, and prepared to start selling the nanotechnology, right after they disposed of the prototype. However, before they could finish up their plans, the authorities caught up to them, and they were all tried with crime s against humanity. When the authorities found Mick, they assumed he had been experimented on, so they put him through a series of tests to find out for sure, further cementing his fear of doctors.

However, in the end they couldn’t find them, and since the scientists had managed to destroy all their records before being caught, it was impossible for them to now about the microscopic machines’ ability to hide themselves. They just assumed they had gotten there before they could do anything to the poor child, who was thankful to leave that awful place. After some much-needed counseling, the psychologists deemed the boy ready to leave their care. The government, in their policy of full transparency, didn’t release any of the details to the public, and made it exceedingly clear to Mick that he was never to tell anyone about what happened to him. Mick had no interest in doing so, having relived the horrible events enough in year he was in military custody.

Four years later, and the boy had forgotten everything that happened to him, his brain completely blocking out every memory associated with it. He still had his fear of doctors, but aside from that he was a normal, well-adjusted ten-year-old. His skills in sports, as well as his quick healing, were just brushed off as general abnormalities. It wasn’t long before another family came to call, seeking to adopt him. However, for some reason he couldn’t understand, the thought of being adopted filled the boy with dread. Said dread disappeared the minute he met the couple, a Mister and Missus Rivers. They already had a biological child, a six-year-old son name Christopher, but they wanted to adopt as well. The minute they all met, there was an instant connection, and it wasn’t long before Mick was home with them.

It quickly became clear that the Rivers were a very affluent family, not that Mick ever cared for the money. He was just happy to be in a home that loved him, and things got along great from there. However, when Mick was thirteen, he and his younger brother discovered his ability to control technology. Their gaming system had broken, and Mick was trying to find a way to make it work again, when suddenly his hand sort of fused with the machine, and it started to repair itself. The two of them kept Mick’s power their little secret; not wanting his parents to find out and have him sent somewhere. This lasted three more years, until it became impossible for them to keep it to themselves.

The Rivers’ were very rich, not that they liked to show off their money. However, whether you show off your money or not, eventually people will want a piece. Such was the mentality of the group that kidnapped Mick and Christopher. At fist, it didn’t seem like they would come to any harm. The kidnappers would get their ransom, and the two boys would be allowed to go home safely. That was, until one of the criminals got tired of Chris’s crying. He tore the twelve-year-old out of his brother’s arms and smacked him across the face. Given the fact that he was already under a lot of stress at the time, seeing his brother harmed set Mick off the edge, and he transformed for the first time. When the police tracked them down, the kidnappers were dead, Mick was unconscious on the floor, and his traumatized brother was flattened against a wall. Chris told them that Mick was responsible, being the innocent child he was.

As it turned out, the government had been keeping an eye on Mick, just in case they missed something, and this sort of incident happened. When the government agents came to the Rivers’ home, they told Mick all they knew about his past, partially jogging the teen’s memory. The “cool power” that he and his brother had kept to themselves for all those years seemed far less amazing now that he knew where it came from. While the deaths of the kidnappers had been ruled as self-defense, Mick still wasn’t off the hook for what happened. He was given two options: Go to Belforest academy in the states, or (he added rather reluctantly), go to Hyukuji high school in Japan. His parents were familiar with both, and weren’t exactly find of either’s reputation, but ultimately decided that they would prefer he go to a place that didn’t try to enlist students as soon as they walked in the doors. So it was off to Japan, to figure out how to get a handle on his abilities.

Mashed Potatoes? I'd love some, but there's no spoon.
