After somehow managing to get away from the hustle and bustle of the school that is Hyakuji, the strange cephalopod/human known as Otto discreetly headed to the gazebo that was near the school. He made sure to avoid any sort of human contact as his hood was pulled over his head, and his "hands" were firmly placed inside the pockets of his hoodie. Though some people tried speaking to them, he quickly ran away before a word could be spoken. He sighed as he did. He knew they were just being friendly, but he couldn't help but shy away from people. He was afraid they would judge him on his appearance. It's happened before.

His thoughts shifted as he wondered what his dad was doing right now. He never knew the guy but he often thought about him. He couldn't speak to his mom about him; especially, considering the last time he did, he was grounded for an entire week. He sighed, as he lifted his left "hand" out of his pocket and looked at it. He sighed again, but snapped out of his thoughts as he had reached the gazebo.

He smiled as he silently sat down inside of the building, looking at the lake with a calm expression. It was fortunate that he was here by himself. Too many people around ruined the scene. The smile stayed on his face, as he looked at the lake. If he wasn't so sure it was against school rules, he'd probably take a deep in it. Looking around, he softly and quietly walked up to the lake, and sat down beside it. The young octopus smiled as he let his hand drift through the pool. He smiled to himself, hoping nothing could ruin this moment of peace...

For the young lycan there are two places in hyakuji that he enjoys running around in his beast form; Izanai park and the school lake. Since the park was currently too crowded for the loup garou's taste the lake was the next best choice.

As he raced along the lakeside the teen shapeshifter saw a curious sight.
Well not a sight. More a scent than anything else.
Sitting down at the edge of the lake. What piqued the wereolf's interest was not the boy's appearance, which he couldn't make out from this distance, but his scent. The younger teen smelt strongly of.... fish?

Being the inquisitive teen he was, Jack decided to investigate the only other person present. Moving behind the other boy, Jack reverted to his human form, clad in a black hooded jacket and jeans but was curiously barefoot. and walked up behind him. Not caring if the other boy heard the snapping and popping of his skeleton rearranging itself.

Tapping the younger boy on the shoulder Jack asked. "Hey mate, Whatcha doing out here alone?"

Otto stuck his hand in the lake, as if feeling the cool feeling of the water on his skin. He smiled at it, relieved that the water wasn't salty. Despite being a 'humanoid', he was still technically a sea creature, and could easily tell the difference between fresh and salty seawater. He could swim in both, but fresh seawater had a more pleasant feel to it. He longed to deep his head in and take a sip. Luckily for him, it wasn't very hot out, so he didn't sweat much.

As the cephalopod hybrid lowered his head into the water, he felt something tap him on his shoulder. Freezing up, he slowly turned around to see a large human with black hear towering over him. A second passed before the octopus-like human let out a loud scream, as he got up to run away before foolishly slipping and falling into the lake, much to the chagrin of the unknown individual.

"Eh, I didn't scare him did I?" Jack asked himself as he watched the younger boy fall into the lake. He brought his hand up to his mouth. " Teeth are still normal and my wolf eyes aren't that creepy."
Now that he could get a better look at the boy Jack took note of his unusual appearance. "Oh cool, Octo-people." Jack said aloud as he crouched down to get a better look. Yes the boy seemed to be some form of octopus/human hybrid.

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn, my tentacled friend." Jack said waving merrily at the octo-boy.
Reaching into the lake, the lycan pulled the other boy out by his collar. "Name's Jack." He said cheerfully. "And you are?"

Otto blinked and looked around, as he was now submerged in water. It was quite peaceful and relaxing, to say the least. He would have taken the time to swim around, until he found himself being pulled upward by someone. He was pulled on land, and coughed as air entered his lungs, though it wasn't needed, since he could breathe in water as easily another person.

He looked up as it was the strange boy who had the unfortunate pleasure of just meeting. He muttered some strange sayings that may have sounded insane to any other person, but Otto easily understood it. He was half-octopus, after all. It translated as 'In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming'. Staring at him, Otto screamed again, and crawled, putting his hands in his lap, and bringing his knees close to him.

"P-p-pl-please," he stuttered, inaudibly, making it hard to hear. "I-I-I d-d-don't w-w-want t-t-trouble."

Jack frowned. At first it was kind of funny watching the younger boy flail around in a panic. But now it seems that the octo-lad was genuinely afraid of him.
Letting out a sigh Jack crouched down until he was level with the boy. "Well that's good." He said, his tone soft. "I'm not looking for trouble either." He extended his hand for a handshake. "As I said before, my name is Jack and you haven't introduced yourself yet." He scrunched his eyebrows together in a frown, but his eyes still twinkled merrily. "Gotta say, it was kind of rude when you tried to run away from me." He touched his face. "I don't have anything on my face, do I?

Otto continued keeping his face hidden, with his hood over his face as his entire body was shaking. He did whatever he could to avoid making any sort of contact with this strange person before him. To say Otto is shy and softspoken with be an insult to shy and softspoken people everywhere, as Otto took it being shy and softspoken to a whole new level. Of course, it wasn't anything personal. It was just years of being bullied and made fun of for his appearance made him incredibly unsociable.

He noticed the boy extending his hand, as if he asking for a handshake, but Otto kept his hands firmly planted together, as he was scared that it was some sort of trick. He heard the boy speak his name, though he had a frown on his face.

"P-p-please!" he said, louder than he intended. Opening his hand was a wade of bills he had pulled out. "J-j-just d-d-don't h-hurt m-m-me." he said, stuttering, as he was close to tears.

Jack let out a another sigh when he saw that the boy had pulled out a wad of bills, trying to bribe him. This poor kid had obviously received a great deal of bullying in the past. Most likely because of his unusual appearance. Of course Jack thought that being an octopus man would be pretty cool. But People can be dicks and have a tendency to ridicule anything different from the norm.
"I don't want your money, put it away. Jack said, face relaxed and voice gentle as he put both of his hands on the boy's shoulders. "I'm not going to hurt you."
That was the honest truth, the poor kid was nearly crying. Jack's face fell, he could empathise with the kid. He knew exactly what it was like to be scared and alone thinking that everyone was out to get you.
He wasn't the most nurturing of people. He didn't have the necessary social experience to deal with someone on the verge of tears.
So Jack gave the boy a reassuring smile. "How about you take a deep breath and count backwards from ten."

Otto felt tears coming to his eyes as he still held the wad of bills in his hand. He felt his breathing get heavier as if he was hyperventilating. He heard the strange boy speak to him saying he wasn't going to hurt him. Though this calmed him down a little, Otto was still scared as his eyes were red from the tears still coming out of his eyes. He gulped and obeyed the boy as he put the money back into his coat pocket, sweat on his forehead. He sniffed, as snot was coming out of his nose, which he hastily wiped away. He tried listening and started slowly, but surely counting backwards.

"T-Ten, n-n-nine, e-e-eight..." Otto began as he continued counting. He felt his tongue get dry, as if he was perched. His voice was shaky, as he was still sobbing, pathetically. "S-Seven, s-s-six, f-f-f-five..."

Jack let out another sigh and released the boy, sitting down on the grass beside him, he tossed a packet of tissues from his pocket to the boy. Putting his hands behind his head Jack leaned backwards, now lying down on the grass facing the sky. "Once you've calmed down we can have a little chat." He closed his eyes. "Maybe you can start be introducing yourself and telling me a bit about yourself."

Otto continued breathing hard, trying desperately to calm himself down, as he took the boy's advice and continued counting. He jumped a bit at the tissues that were thrown to him, and he his breathing seemed to pick back up. He put a tentacle over his swiftly-racing heart and tried in vain to control himself. He didn't hear what the boy was saying, as he was still counting out loud, picking up from where he had left off.

"F-f-four, t-t-t-th-three, t-t-t-two," the young cephalopod stuttered, still trying to desperately finish. He didn't see the point in counting, as it wasn't making him feel any calmer. However, his sweating was slowing down, and his heart rate was dropping a bit, though anxiety and worry was still fresh in the boy's mind and heart, as this strange boy he had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting just a few minutes ago was still sitting idly by him, as if nothing was wrong.

"This guy has some serious social anxiety issues." Jack thought to himself as he felt Otto jump when the thrown tissues landed on him. "I may not be a therapist, but I'm gonna at least try to help."

Sitting back up, Jack faced Otto. "You shouldn't hide who you are. At least not on school grounds. He said, as he gestured to how Otto has himself covered up. " You'd be surprised how accepting the people around here are." He grinned. "Hell, some people might be like me and think you look pretty cool."

"That's it Jackie." He thought to himself. Encouragement and positive reinforcement. Now for a little reassurance." His grin turned slightly savage and he chuckled darkly as he spoke again to Otto. "And if anyone does give you trouble just point them out to me." He cracked his knuckles. "I'll kick their ass for ya until you're ready to do it yourself."

Otto, though he was still shaking and sweating was starting to calm down, as his heartrate and breathing steadily decreased, dropping to normal standards. The tears eventually stopped, though his eyes were now completely red and snot was steadily pouring from his nose, which he wiped away with his hands, though more still dripped from his nose. He wrapped his hands around himself, as he tried to stop shaking, not liking the feeling it was giving his body.

The young cephalopod listened as the boy next to him spoke, trying to boost up his spirit, which was easier said than done. He sniffed as he tried to comprehend what he said, about people liking his appearance. In an instant, the memories of his life in high school came rushing back to him, and he whined, as tears resumed pouring from his eyes, making them even redder. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to keep them from coming out, to no avail.

Otto's eyes opened up as the boy, now known as 'Jack' promised to hurt anyone who bothered him.

"N-N-No!!" he yelled, louder than intended. He realized he was looking at him, and quickly looked away, pulling his hood back over his head, as he rocked back and forth, even more depressed.

Jack's shoulders slumped. He had no idea how to deal with this. This guy needed a therapist. Jack wondered if the school had any.

One could assume that the school had a very good one on call. After all, teenagers have enough problems. Mix in superpowers and the wacky shenanigans that happen daily here. It could hardly be good for anyone's mental health.

Turning his attention back to the boy, Jack asked him. "How will you deal with the few assholes in this school who will end up bothering you then?" His eyes narrowed. "Cause I think we both know that running away from them never works."

He leaned back, again facing the sky. "Instead take pride in who you are. Wear your appearance like an armour so no one can hurt you with it." He pointed to himself. "People used to make fun of me for watching anime and reading comics. Did I let that stop me? Hell no, I took pride in it. And before you knew it, their words didn't hurt anywhere near as much as before."

Jack wouldn't mention that he got his confidence after his lycanthropy emerged and that he wasn't afraid because he was able to break a man's arm with a well placed punch. Or that he was able to turn into a eight-foot war-beast.

....... What? The guy needed a confidence boost. A few white lies or omissions of the truth are needed.

Otto sniffed, as he tried to keep more snot from coming out of his nose. He continued wiping more water off of his face, but that did little to stop his tears. He knew he was being difficult, but he really couldn't help it. He was constantly bullied and harassed in middle school, and in high school, it got worse. A lot worse. Especially as a freshman. If there was a day where no one paid any attention to him, then that was a blessing. But those days were rare and came few. Usually, his days would include a mixture of: bullying, name-calling, being pranked, etc.

He listened to Jack as he again tried encouraging him. He looked up surprised at his question. Usually, he just let them do what they want, and then go off on his own. He couldn't fight back, he hated violence. He don't think he'd be particularly good at it, either. Seldom did he run away. It never did any good. There were only so few good hiding places at school, and his oppressors knew them all.

Otto knew what the guy was saying made sense, but he couldn't just change himself that easily. He didn't have the strength for it. It was a miracle that Hyakuji even accepted him! Besides his appearance, he didn't really any sort of special powers. If he went up against someone else, he'd obviously lose. He couldn't defend himself, even if tried. Thinking on these things only helped to make him more depressed, as he brought his legs closer to him, hiding his head in between them, trying desperately to disappear.
