The heavily secured, thick steel doors opened automatically as the lanky man made his way towards them. the inside of the building was pristine and white, tall and spacious enough for his footsteps to echo for extended periods of time as he made his way, passing the numbered windowless rooms up until the elevator. In his surroundings, activity was limited to men in white coats walking through hallways on the floors above, occasionally, someone would make small talk with a person nearby, breaking the silence for mere moments before both parties made haste to their designated locations. Meanwhile, the rooms, from the outside, did not emanate any sensation, not a smell, or a sound, or even a taste in the air was freed into the rest of the building, each area was isolated from the other n some way or another.

Entering into the elevator, the man distractedly went through the steps of passing his identification, closing the elevator doors, checking his thumb through a scanner, and clicked on floor numbers in a given pattern. His gaze diverted itself by rummaging through the place while his foot tapped gently on the bottom of the structure. It was a process that he knew by heart, one in which he only paid enough attention to do it as required, knowing fully well the intent and use of the whole thing.

After the doors opened, he was instead greeted by a large door, secured in much the same way as the rest of the building, and looking normal save for a small "O5" written in dull grey letters at the top right corner. Once again, he was asked to input a code, a manual one consisting of a spinning handle. He crossed the portal as soon as it allowed him in, the doors closed behind him leaving him alone in his office.

He sat down in his chair, looking at the desk that had the tablet on top. The tablet displayed the word "ANOMALIES" in broad letters, with a list following it. The list mentioned incidents, followed by the words "denied" or "in confirmation process". All of them except one, followed by a "confirmed" identification. At this, he frowns, and begins writing a request for field agents to be deployed.

It is broad day in downtown Hyakuji, bustling streets populated by people willing to commit to anything that they are doing. A few cars pass by the entrance of Majikku Mall, some go inside to find a spot to park, But n the meantime, they just occupy space.

In this carnival of noise, two people completely unrelated to one another save for the fact that they are close to the entrance of Majikku Mall, will begin to hear a noise. It begins as a subtle bounce, a noise resembling a ball being dropped once, however, the noise gradually intensifies, and by the minute it is highly noticeable, as if someone was knocking on a door continuously.

The noise has a defined direction from where it seems to originate, unlike most sounds, this specific ring seems to create a mental path to its location, not allowing any room for doubt regarding how to follow it.

---

Assume that your char was affected by the noise for the purpose of the plot.

One of the problems with this place was her job as a liaison didn't really fit with anything this place had in place. For the longest time, a number of European and American organisations had attempted to expand their influence into Asia. For the longest time, most of them had been rebuffed.

On paper, she represented the Magus Association of the London Clocktower - the largest single such group in Europe, and the most influential outside of the east. As an enforcer of sealing designations, she hunted down things the association deemed 'a threat to the practice and sanctity of magecraft and the security of the organisation'

In practice, the various organisations which policed Asia in general and Japan in particular had enough overlap that jurisdiction was actually a problem. Not the sort of clashes between magi and the church she'd known in Europe, but bureaucracies from over half a dozen groups that all served a similar purpose - protecting people from various threats, from wraiths to rakshasa, from chimera to kaiju.

By god, this was a messy place.

But for all that, there were enough of them that she essentially had no actual work as far as threat went, and very few among those designated to be sealed ever came here. Little wonder, she thought, given that her own circuits had trouble adapting to the flow of prana here from the leylines of Europe, and she was a partway native. thoe few families that kept ties with the clocktower managed their lands quietly and without incident, and in all there had been fewer than 15 active deployments here from the tower in as many years. Romania had more than that in 6 months.

Not having too much to do though, did have its benefits. At the least, she'd been more able to focus on practice and music, even if she couldn't use the full extent of her ability here. Though, the time spent practicing music would probably be less bothersome if she actually had one of her own instruments here, rather than appropriating ones from the school music room.

It was as good a day as any to go to the mall and look at their instrument selection, she thought. Especially with nothing else to do for the day than read and drink tea in her former partner's little hole in the wall.

Or so she thought.

The impact of the noise was... odd.

She'd let it go at first, like so much background noise. But to a musician's ear, there was something... off. She found her head turning towards it, before realising that she shouldn't have been able to tell where it was that quickly.

Huh...

She swept her hair back, curious at why she was looking there in particular. Taking a deep breath, she found herself following the path towards the sound. Partly of curiousity, and partly out of responsibility. If it was indeed something unusual, it was already one of her jobs to look into it.

Sorry for the delay, working on stuff and was waiting for another guinea pig, anyway, here goes the test

---

Having changed from the regular school uniform to his sparkling clown attire, Gideon approached the portal of the mall, closing in on the exit to find out how to entertain himself. His feet thumped loudly as he extended his legs extravagantly with every step, it was in him to ensure that every outfit he wore was followed by a proper attitude surrounding it, and in the case of his practised jester persona, exaggerating every movement to its maximum natural extension, while still explaining what he needed to was the most.

His brief jaunt for enjoyment was brought to a halt, he pulled his feet together, pushing his body forward and then backwards, springing himself into a strict military stance. Moments later, a caricaturesque gesture permeated his body as he lowered his torso forward, shaking his head before putting a hand to his ear and speaking loudly to himself.

"OH, but what could that sound mean?!'

Brightly, he smiled as the situation turned to favour his enjoyment. Exploring the unknown had always been a reason for him to mobilize, and that situation was no different. He was following a sound, familiar in that he could have sworn that he had heard it hundreds of times before, but strange in that its direction was well defined in a rather specific pattern.

Following the path lead to one of the downtown back streets. Although by no means in a terrible neighborhood, the place was well hidden, enough for there t be more than a few vandalized walls. Before moving forward, Gideon stopped to admire some of the more colourful ones, scowling at those that consisted only of signature scribbles of black paint on the walls.

"And this, children, means that if you are painting someone else's property, you better put some effort into it."

Keeping up his creep, he eventually lead himself out towards a single piece particularly noteworthy in its quality. He had seen a few over the internet, however it was the first time he had seen one in real life. A graffiti that made for a three dimensional effect, as if the wall itself had a hole containing it. the picture was that of a pier, with a wooden bridge traversing through the middle of the painting into a shop with the name "BASSLAND" written in broad green letters over a wooden sign and beside a picture of a jumping fish. The beautifully drawn orange hues melded with the idea of a sunset, gradually reflecting themselves in the water, which, as if it was real, tinted itself an almost indistinguishable tinge of red over its dark blue tone while reflecting the skies above.

For a moment, Gideon felt inadequate, however, he put his weakness aside when he noted that the sound seemed to emanate from the painting itself. He tilted his head, alongside his whole body to indicate his wonder.

"Quite a work isn't it?"

Hands in pockets, with a steady, unhurried pace, the girl in red smiled faintly as she approached.

It was an interesting sight to her.

A single, beautiful piece amidst the sea of callousness. Like a squirrel after a nut, the girl's eyes traced over the image with curiosity, earnestness, and sharpness. As a magus who considered sound her domain, it was only natural she'd find a sound like this curious, even if it was as far removed from her path as this.

Not that she worried. Even though she didn't know this part of the city well, she still maintained the same air of careful confidence and refinement she always did.

"It's a pity the others didn't have nearly as much effort put into them." she said dismissively, flipping her long red hair before reaching down for a small pebble "By the way you're examining it, I take it you hear the sound on the other side?"

"Ah but indeed!"

A question from another popped him away from his temporary daze, diverting his thoughts from the painting and the noise at hand. As a response, the boy launched a few seemingly random words as he arched his back backwards while pushing his right arm and hard forward, index finger revealed and stretched upwards while the others remained closed.

Before continuing, he made sure to return to the center of his body with a jerk, pulling his hand and body to the center at the same time. Even upon introducing himself, he had to keep up his act, his obsessive nature would otherwise be bothered by an imperfection in his own movements.

"It is quite as you say, maaaadmoiselle, this pretty picture does quite seem to enjoy sending out a knock, maaaadmoiselle"

It was true after all, chances were high that they wouldn't have met had it not been for the strange noise that emanated from the picture, chances were, that the picture itself would remain undiscovered if it hadn't been for the trail that had lead them there in the first place.

With a half twirl provided by the right leg spinning on its own axis while the left was slightly raised, a movement that would usually not call much attention regardless of how deliberate it was, lead Gideon to take another close look at the well drawn painting, once again falling into a momentaneous trance, before taking a hold of an odd sight, as it appeared that the lower part of the painting had changed, ever so slightly.

Gideon was not a painter, that much was certain, but he had devoted a good amount of time to observing the thing so far, and even ignoring that fact, what he thought of as the changed portion, did not seem to fit with the art style of the rest of the painting, as if it was a sloppy montage of two good works of art.

He covered his mouth with one hand in mock awe, while he pointed at that part of the painting with the other. If either of them observed it closely, they would see that it gradually took over the tone of the old graffiti, if they paid even closer attention, they'd notice that the rhythm at which it took over was the same rhythm as that of the knocking itself.

"Please don't be so formal with me, your accent is terrible in anycase." she sighed "You may refer to me as Misae.*"

The girl in red tossed the pebble up a few times, then catching it as if to gauge it's suitability.

As far as she was concerned, this painting was interesting only in a sense that such things were not in fact, supposed to be producing sounds or eating up the scenery. She'd dealt with self-spreading bounded fields before, but they'd always been bothersome things that she didn't enjoy being in the presence of, and she wanted to be sure exactly what they were dealing with.

"I wonder..." she said aloud, tilting her head, and then casually chucking the pubble into the painting.

*ミサエさんと呼ぶがよい (lit. 'You shall call me Misae', in a sense of being commanding. It's sort of a weird way to say it, but she uses the language in funny ways)
