Sayo tilted her head as Gaius began his story. She would have been more incline to be smiling at the interesting introduction if he didn’t sound so serious. So she just nodded along and play with her scarf as the story continued. It took her half way through to realize it wasn’t a happy story. Sayo blinked and looked down to her cup, concenating on the atmosphere of the room. She didn’t want to look at his face, his smile and unmatched seriousness was unnerving. She also didn’t want to reveal any discomfort on her composed expression. Tragic and unfortunate stories isn’t completely new to her as she have been to many charity events. They never felt real, those stories was just there to collect money. They were cheap and shallow to her eyes but not this one. Gaius’s story, again a personal one, was far from superficial. Her throat felt dry when he unnecessary added ‘decaying corpses’. She didn’t know how to react to something like this. It wasn’t money he want, at least it didn’t feel like it. It wasn’t pity, she won’t give it even if it was so. The story came out of no where, not a sense of humor from the previous ones. A complete surprise. "That to much for you?" Was that what he wanted? Her reaction? Some sort of ‘in your face’ for saying she could handle herself? The question seem to confirm so. She felt a little mad for the abrupt change in the story tone. She met his eyes and was torn when she was his worn smile. This story wasn’t easy on him either. Sayo felt a little stupid, of course the story wasn’t easy on him. She could feel her composure, one of polites and tranquility, starting to slip from her eyes and reveal her true emotions. Sadness, discomfort and a mix of something she couldn’t same. Sayo spoke softly, “Isn’t for you?” She continued to look him in the eyes. Then broke contact when she couldn’t hold her composure and stood up. The back of her legs bumped into her chair but she ignored the pain. “I think I’ll serve some cake now.” Edited by Sayo Rie, Jul 11 2014, 02:58 PM.

"I suppose it's something like that." Gaius spoke, raising the cup to his mouth and taking a small drink of the beverage. "They warn you that stuff similar to that could happen but it's still a bit of a shock to see first hand." To be fair it was on him for actually taking the job, he could've easily rejected that job and left but who knows if it would've ended up playing out any differently or if it would've gone the same. Unfortunately what was in the past, was in the past. He couldn't change it so even bothering to think about it and try to change it was simply wasted effort on his part. Just moving forward was always a good idea, especially when one's past could very well break themselves easily. "... That sounds like a good idea." Serenity chimed in, she was also speaking a bit more depressed then she had a few minutes ago. She hadn't heard the story from Gaius's point of view before, from his point of view it could easily have been any of them. Even her if she had take a few missteps in some of her missions, she just had to thank whatever diety was looking out for her that she was spared from such torture. Gaius's smile lit up again when cake was mentioned. "If there is any chocolate I'll take that, best flavor there is hands down." It seemed like in a moment his attitude towards his past had disappeared, that kind of attitude was probably what managed to keep him from looking back for far to long. "Is there any chocolate?" Standing he walked behind Sayo and peered over her shoulder, his sense of personal space was very daft at the best of times. |

Sayo walked over to the fridge and opened, feeling very conscious of Gaius behind her. She tried not to move so much in cause she might accidentally bump him from behind. She drew out a white box with golden words Wiffles inscripted. It was a special set and Sayo didn’t bother with it’s content when she ordered it. “I believe there are one or two chocolate pieces. You can help get the plates and spoons. Serenity, can you show him where they are?” She didn’t want the guest to do any sort of work but she need for him to give her space. It’s hard to move if there’s someone standing directly behind you. She closed the fridge and used the free space to slip to the side. With the box in both hands, she walked to the living room table and set the object down. Carefully she opened the pastry box and reveal it’s contents. The pieces of cake all look delicious, looking high quality ...although the quantity, “There’s less than I expect. If it’s not enough, I can go buy more. You two can pick first.” |

"Of course." Serenity replied to Sayo's request of her, she motioned where the spoons and plates where in the kitchen. Gaius followed where he fingers were pointing and easily found them. Taking out three plates and three spoons he made his way back to the table and began to set them down at each of the seating positions. Taking a look inside the box both Serenity and Gaius smiled at it's contents, they both enjoyed sweets quite a lot. Obviously Gaius's love of chocolate superseded Serenity's love for sweets but that was fine with her. If anything it gave her something to bribe him with, he never could turn down a good box of chocolates. "Well, I think it's clear that I'll take this one." Gaius spoke reaching towards the small triangular container which contained what seemed like the most choclatey thing in the box. It was a no brainer after all he could eat chocolate for breakfast lunch and dinner if he wouldn't get scolded by someone for doing so. Serenity sat back motioning for Sayo to choose. "You go ahead, I'm fine with waiting until after you pick." She had more patience then Gaius but then again her sheer love for sweets wasn't as strong as his love for chocolate so she didn't mind waiting. She waited to see which one Sayo would end up picking. |

“I’ll take the piece with the pink macaron on top.” Sayo chose and transferred it from the box to her plate. She peeled back the white covering and laid the spoon on the plate. She will waiting for Serenity to pick hers before indulging on her pastry. Sweets is a remedy for everything. Which is why Sayo are fond of them, they bring her mood up and it’s fun to try varieties dessert offer. Gaius enjoy a particular taste: chocolate while she feel being limit to one isn’t as ....adventurous. “So,” Sayo began then paused, unsure how to refer to him. It was then that she realized up to now she never used his name. She was stuck on how to address him, were they close enough? Wait, he’s in the same year as her. “Harper-kun, do you know what classes you will be attending here?” If he was here for Serenity, then she would guess he would take every class with her roommate. Though it wouldn’t hurt to ask, maybe he’s taking some classes with her. It would be nice to see a familiar face around, as she still didn’t know most of her classmates. |

Serenity smiled as Sayo picked a piece for herself without turning the situation into a 'you go first, no you go first' problem. That would've been annoying because she wasn't feeling like backing down but thankfully the problem was avoided. Taking the small yellow one Serenity placed it down onto her plate, she had to admit one of the perks of living with Sayo was the fact that there always seemed to be lots of sweets around, such a thing really appealed to Serenity's sweet tooth. "Ehhh." Gaius rubbed the back of his head trying to remember what classes he was attending. While he generally had a good memory there were occasions where it took a bit of time to 'boot up' for lack of a better term. "I'm doing Arts, Supernatural Studies and Survival Studies." He spoke smiling, it seemed like a really weird variety of classes all things considered but he couldn't help it. He was rather lacking knowledge in most things supernatural and he really enjoyed the Arts and various methods of Survival. Serenity nodded in acknowledgment, she probably would've put him down for those subjects as well. While she didn't know Gaius extremely well she knew him well enough. "I'm a bit surprised that you aren't sharing classes with me." She spoke, she basically predicted what his response to that would be though. Gaius laughed before he began to speak. "The classes you chose are so boring though, nothing fun about them." Gaius turned to Sayo and began to address her. "How about your subjects then?" He was curious and it was only fair, a question for a question. |

“I’m also taking Survival Studies and Supernatural Studies.” Sayo smiled, happy that she have two classes with him. “They’re very interesting and fun.” Though also challenging, for her, since she have the strength of a normal teenage girl and Survival class requires more. Luckily, she have classmates she could rely on and logical deduction to help her. She wasn't going to mention her struggle, it would be a sign of weakness. Her lack of advance physical abilities, Serenity know her abilities but Gaius doesn't. It's better not to be give him any hints of what she can do and can't. Besides, she learned a lot from survival class and gotten good exercise which helps burn the pastries she’s always eating. “I’m also taking Cooking class. And like I mentioned previously, have a lot to learn from that subject.” She laughed. She cut into her cake and took a bite, tasting it’s sweetness and enjoying the texture. “How do you like your cake?” Feedback would be good, if they like it then she’ll continue to buy from this shop. If not, there’s also other bakeries to try. |

Gaius smiled as he heard that him and Sayo shared two classes, that was good. It would make it easier to get the general gist of them both or at least how they practiced them here in comparison to what he had learned under his work at The Court. "That's good then, I'm interested to see how the subjects turn out for sure." It wasn't really a lie, he wasn't holding them up that highly but it would be interesting to see how they turned out. When inquired about the cake Gaius smiled again. "It was very good." He chuckled a small bit before continuing. "However if there is anything that has chocolate then I'm all for it." Chocolate was definetly a favorite of his, it was approaching addiction levels of love for the food. Serenity sat up her kitchenware sitting emptied on the table. "It was quite tasty as usual." She answered Sayo as well, eliciting a moan from Gaius. "This is as usual?" He was jealous, she got to have sweets all the time. He'd have to invade their dorm room more often for more sweets in that case. "Ehhhh, I guess I should take my leave though. I think I left my stuff somewhere and I should probably go and put it in my room." He spoke with a nervous chuckle, hopefully no one took his luggage. That would make his life a bit more irritating, nothing he couldn't deal with of course but it would still end up being an inconvenience. "It was nice to meet you." Gaius said as he stood up and took a small bow before he began to make his way towards the front door, it seemed he was going through the appropriate method of exit and entry this time. Watching the door close behind Gaius a sigh escaped Serenity. "Did they really have to send him?" She still seemed a bit frustrated turning to face Sayo she spoke. "Sorry about him, he has no control and no off switch." While she respected Gaius as a respectable member of The Court he was more often then not an annoying person at heart. True that his skill allowed him to get away with that but it was still annoying. |

Sayo also stood up then Gaius did and walked him to the front door. She was a little amused that he was leaving from a different way he came. She said goodbye and did not mention how the female residents might be a little surprise with a sudden appearance of a boy in their dorm. Thankfully, they were on the first floor and he might not run into anyone. It would bothersome to explain how he got into their room. Once he left, Sayo went back to her seat and continued eating her cake. “He was...interesting.” She commented to Serenity. A very friendly person. Unfortunately, she didn’t know how to handle those type of people, they always have a hidden agenda. Though Gaius didn’t look like he had any. “I’ll be sure to add chocolate in my next pastry order.” It was her indirect way of saying she would be seeing him back here. Sayo gave a small smile, she didn't mind that idea. [END] |
