Approaching the building that he had heard she was dorming in Gaius couldn't help but feel giddy. How long had it been, one or two years off the top of his head. Oh, how he was looking forward to seeing her, she was probably within his top five favorite trainees. First things first though, he had to find a way in to surprise her without being seen. With a smile ever present on his face he analyzed the building, he could always try breaking down the door to her room but that would probably get him in trouble. His smile grew wider, this would be interesting for sure. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lying on her bed Serenity was simply resting, the day had been rather uneventful but instead of complaining about it she was enjoying it to it's fullest. Considering all the strange events that went on in Hyakuji not taking the time to coolly and calmly collect one's thoughts could lead to disaster in mental health. It was days like these were she could calmly enjoy her new and 'normal' life. Hearing her phone ring she sat up, she wasn't expecting any missions today but to pass one up would be stupid on her behalf. "Yes?" She answered the phone in her usual professional tone, nodding her head as she listened to Bishop talk. A few sentences later her face froze, the smile fading off her face into one of object fear. "Y-you can't be serious." Her voice shrunk, whatever was happening she sure wasn't happy about it. "Why him, surely any of the others would've been fine.... why did you send him?" Snapping her phone shut she suddenly rushed out of her room and began closing curtains, windows, doors and locking every single thing that could be locked. Making quite a noise while she did so. Her gaze was darting around like that of a scared rabbit making sure that nothing was sneaking up on her. "Sayo-Senpai?" She called out to her roommate seeing if she was there. "H-hey, if theres any windows in your room I'd suggest locking them." She sounded jumpy and if Sayo witnessed her she definetly seemed jumpy for some reason. |

Sayo was going through the latest BusinessWeek in the living room sofa. Beside her was small stack of magazines and fashion newsletter, she was planning review to leave them at the living room table for show. The new dorm room was furnished but it still need personality. Sayo didn’t care much for decorating but she still want to return home to something aesthetically pleasing. Maybe a few paintings on the wall and a mat here and there. Or a couple plants? She does enjoy nature in general and having something living would be nice. She could experiment to see if plants have emotions. Although, watering would be a hassle. Hm, maybe she could get her roommate to it it for her. As if on cue, Serenity called her and she casually look back, about to ask her about plants. Her request was weird as Sayo could think of no reason why Serenity would want to close the window. It didn’t look like it was going to rain and the temperature wasn’t so high. Serenity jumpy attitude made Sayo wary and she wondered if it was a reason out of the norm. “Hmm, I’ll turn on the air conditioner.” Sayo answered, raising her eyebrow. She pressed the air con remote and slowly walked over to the balcony window to lock it. |

"Oh, here it is." Just to the right of Sayo a man sized hole appeared in the wall, this was shortly followed by a blond haired boy in a suit stepping inside the room. Serenity turned in shock just in time to see the person enter. Her face drained of all colour as she recognized his features, why did they have to send him of all people, she would have preferred any of the other Rooks or Knights then him. Why get him involved in her 'normal' life. Scanning the room Gaius noticed Sayo standing to the right of him, his eyes hadn't made their way over to Serenity yet. "Did I get the wrong room?" His smile didn't seem like it troubled him much, he scanned the rest of the room resting his eyes on Serenity. "SERENITY, HOW HAVE YOU BEEN." Running over and giving her a large hug he eventually was pushed off of her, taking a few steps. "It's been to long, I've been hearing some good success stories, though I wouldn't of expected you would take the kind of jobs that involved using your feminine charms." Gaius laughed, it was all complete crap but it didn't stop Serenity from blushing hard, it was always fun to spend time with Serenity. *Thump* Serenity's fist made it's way straight into Gaius's face, he took a few steps back but didn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort at all really. "Ahhh, just as temperamental as ever, my dear." His smile didn't fade at all whilst Serenity just frowned more so. "Did you volunteer for this?" She asked straight to the point, a small laugh from Gaius came in response. "Of course not, Bishop gave me this job." A small sneer came from Serenity, she'd have to have some choice words with Bishop. Taking note of the other person in the room Gaius turned around, his smile still on his face. "And who is this lovely lady." He politely bowed, he was versed enough in introductions and Serenity was the only one he really liked to annoy. Anyone else deserved at least a polite introduction, there was no reason to be uncivil with people. It gave The Court a bad rap if he was going around being rude to potential clients even if he was just a trainer. He didn't seem to take notice of the hole in the wall that he had made using his powers, as it stood there was a large hole with a small flight of stairs made out of earth entering into the room. Sayo gaped at the hole in her dorm room wall. She continued to stare with a shock expression as a blond stepped from it. It was clearly his creation. Was this what Serenity was so jumpy about? From their familiar relationship, it would seem so. Does everyone from The Court have to come and break her walls? She assumed he was from The Court by the what he said. She’ll have to call the maintenance crew again. At this rate, she’ll be their number one customer. Their banter was amusing to watch and from observing the boy’s playful manner she could see it where Serenity got her’s. Oddly, Serenity didn’t reciprocate the boy’s affection. Sayo smiled as she watched a new side of the her roommate. She had recovered from the shock from the hole in her wall when the boy turned her attention to her. She returned his bow with her own, though less low and polite. She answered him casually, “Sayo. An acquaintance of Serenity?” |

Standing up straight, Gaius's smile grew wider. This girl was polite, that was good. He wasn't expecting such politeness considering the situation but it seemed like she was used to it. He wondered for a moment what Serenity had been doing for the time that she had been here to make Sayo still remain so polite. "Gaius Harper, I trained her." His spoke proudly with a small laugh, his training had apparently been quite effective, if her mission record was to be believed that was. Walking past Sayo to the hole in the wall he looked out of it. "Hmm, good view. To bad I have to fix it." He held his hand out and concentrated, before long the wall would reform itself looking completely new again as if there was no hole in it to begin with. "Ah, the fun of terramancy." He smiled tapping his finger on the newly formed wall before turning back to the pair. Serenity was making it clear that she wasn't enjoying his presence which he was okay with and he wasn't getting kicked out by Sayo which was also good. "As he introduced himself, his name is Gaius Harper." Serenity spoke with a tired sigh, of all the people they had to send him. "Remember when I was explaining the hierarchy of The Court?" Serenity asked raising an eyebrow before being interrupted. "Ooooh, spilling trade secrets are we Serenity-chan?" *Thump* Another fist found it's way to Gaius's face and again he it didn't seem to cause him any pain or discomfort. "Anyways, as I was saying. He is one of the trainers, the Rooks." She spoke, making sure that Sayo was following. "Yep, that's me. Trained nearly fifty of the currently active agents." Again, more pride in his words, he really did take his training somewhat seriously. "Why he is here I have no clue though." Serenity spoke as she turned to face Gaius waiting for an explanation. Raising a finger to point at himself and fake curiosity Gaius chuckled. "Do I really need a reason to spend time with my beloved Serenity-chan." Gaius laughed, he was really having fun. *Thump* "Okay, okay I get it." Gaius smiled after Serenity retracted her fist. "Since hearing about some people who were potentially dangerous to one of The Court's best interests I was sent to act as a somewhat bodyguard and advisor." Gaius finished his sentence then followed up with a laugh before continuing on. "Of course if I knew there were such lovely ladies such as Sayo-San, I would've requested to come much sooner." He said with a sly smile followed by a small chuckle, this place was going to be so much fun. |

“Nice to meet you.” Sayo said, now curious about Serenity’s trainer. He looked around their age so age must not matter in The Court’s hierarchy. Their system must be more flexible that she had presumed. His presences doesn’t bother her even if there were probably rules against mix genders in dormitories. Was that why he didn’t come through the door? In fear of being caught, he decided to noisily sneak in? She was impressed when he fixed the hole that he had made and she walked over and touched his creation. Now she doesn’t have to call to have the wall fix. It was her first time to meet and witness someone use an element of nature. Upon her inspection, the wall was perfectly put together but it still didn’t justify breaking down her wall. It was concerning to hear there might be trouble after Serenity as it would possibility be effecting her as well. This would mean she would be seeing Gaius more often. She have no problem with that as long as he wasn’t obnoxious. Although his flattery disturb her a bit, she didn’t think she have anything that he would want. She have already hired Serenity so business was good and she have already allowed him. He must want something if he was flattering her. “Are you staying long? We have some cake in the fridge and tea.” She decided to ignore the comment and instead be a good host since Serenity didn’t look like she is. So much hitting. She hope he’ll stay and maybe tell amusing stories about her roommate. |

No reaction, that was unfortunate. Gaius bought his hand up to his chin, it seemed like Serenity had gotten a roommate who was indeed adept at social situations. "Oh, I am staying quite long." Gaius smile grew wider as he turned to face Serenity, already knowing that his smile was a bad thing she tried to think of what he meant. Gaius continued on speaking while Serenity was trying to realize what he was saying. "If it's alright with you I wouldn't mind taking a rest." Gaius said as he made his way to sit on a couch gesturing for the two to do the same. Serenity who was still standing finally realized what he was saying, they were making him attend the school. "No, no it's not happening." As she continued all Gaius could do was laugh. "No, this is not happening I wanted a normal life. With you here all that goes to hell that won't happen." She was definetly going to have some angry words with Bishop after this was dealt with. "Oh yes, i'm attending the school as well." Gaius spoke triumphantly. This was also a good time for him to get out and spend more time around the world rather then just in The Court's HQ. "I've heard some good things about the people here." Another sly smirk towards Sayo, he hadn't been informed about her powers yet and obviously was quite curious but he wasn't about to go ahead and just keep on questioning her until she revealed them. Serenity sighing in defeat spoke up. "I'll go bring something." and began to walk to the fridge whilst mumbling what sounded like angry threats. A small laugh escaped Gaius, her buttons were so easy to push it was fun. Turning to face Sayo he motioned her to one of the remaining couches. "Come and sit, seeing as Serenity-chan has decided to be a most excellent host you can take a seat." He wanted to get to know Serenity's roommate to see what kind of person that she was living with. |

“Serenity, could you make some tea? I stocked up, they should be on the cupboard.” Sayo move to sit down as Gaius gestured, surprise by how comfortable he was at a stranger’s home. She’d never seen Serenity so easily flustered and it was interesting to witness. Although still cautious on his intentions toward, she took the seat closest to him and gave a friendly smile. “What grade level are you entering?” Sayo asked, seeing as he said he was entering this high school. She wasn’t sure if he was more protective of his secrets than Serenity and decided to try a harmless question first. How can someone so young(or at least look young) trained so many? Also impressed and curious by his powers, she decided to relate back to her previous internal debate before his unannounced arrival. “Your terramancy, does it extend to plants?” “I was planning to get houseplants.” She added, to help him understand her train of thought. She turned to Serenity to seek confirmation, “Is that fine with you?” Edited by Sayo Rie, Jul 2 2014, 01:54 PM.

"Sure, just don't believe any 'stories' he has about me." Serenity spoke as she began to make the cups of tea. Gaius laughed, she was always like this. It wasn't really a surprise that she still didn't really like him, always much to serious. Having a joke every now and again was never really her style and that was completely fine. Unlike himself, Serenity seemed to have a hard set reason for living. "I'm in third grade, I didn't bother with education for the most part of the previous two years, after the initial course at The Court." Gaius smiled as he spoke with Sayo, it seemed like she was probing how much information he was willing to let go off. "Besides, I've never really been one to sit down and take notes." He said as he began to lean back, the rooms were pretty comfortable. He hoped that his dorm room was as comfy as this one. When she asked if his powers also extended to plants he thought for a moment before shaking his head. "I doubt it." He spoke as he thought of a way to explain it. "I feel like plants are, according to my power, treated somewhat like us or animals." Gaius spoke as he raised his hands up to emphasize the point. "Something that is living on the earth but isn't the earth itself." He wasn't entirely sure whether or not that was indeed the case but it seemed like a good a reason as any. "-but I could be wrong." Serenity walked towards the couches with two cups of tea, placing one in front of Sayo and one in front of Gaius. "I wouldn't mind, I have nothing against plants." She spoke as she stood back up going to get the remaining cup for herself. Waiting for Serenity to sit back down Gaius smiled as he continued to speak. "Well, now that the protagonist is here we can begin story time." He smiled widely, of course he was slightly joking but still Serenity was flustered. *Thump* "Fair enough." Gaius smiled still but his voice portrayed a more serious tone. "She hasn't been causing you any trouble has she?" Seeing Serenity avert her gaze and fall silent, his gaze turned to Sayo. "She can be a bit of a handful." He knew that Serenity was occasionally hard to get along with so he wanted to know whether or not she was settling in. There could be times for jokes later. Sayo crossed her legs, thinking about one peculiar event that was prompted by his question. The first time Serenity and her met didn’t go so well but she passed that. The punctured wall had been fixed and so was their relationship. Aside from that, Serenity have caused her no trouble. “Oh no, she’s a great roommate.” Sayo answered casually, moving for her tea then taking a sip. She turned the tea cup a couple times, enjoying the heat on her palm. The atmosphere had gotten a little more serious and she didn’t keep it that way by retelling the first time they had met. If he really wanted to know, he can ask someone else as there were two other people present at that time. “So, I was promised a story.” She gave Gaius an anticipating expression. He must have good ones as he knew her for a very long time. She was quite curious about both of them. |

Gaius smiled wider, it was clear from Serenity's reaction that what Sayo said was a lie. Something had gone down but if she was willing forgive and forget then he wasn't going to question it. That would be rude and unnecessary, he'd only intervene if it somehow went further then it had ended. After all, he had to let Serenity deal with her own problems now that she was old enough. When Sayo asked for a story he raised he gave her an inquisitve look. "I did? Fair enough then." He spoke as he thought for a moment, he wasn't going to give out any extremely embarrassing stories about Serenity... yet. Maybe that one would work, he nodded to himself as he settled on the origins of their association. "If it's alright, I'll tell how we met." Gaius spoke as he turned to Serenity who nodded, she was being quiet letting him go ahead and take center stage as usual. "Guess it is." He laughed before getting his facts in order. "Alright, as a Rook I'm one of the ones in charge of training the Pawns at The Court." Gaius spoke further explaining what Serenity had already said. "Surprisingly, not a lot of the pawns could actually beat me, a fair few of them couldn't even land a hit on me." He smiled, they were always very headstrong rushing in first and not thinking tactically. "I had been doing this for a few years by this point." He had heard that he was the youngest Rook they had ever employed, he was also apparently one of the better ones. There were some with better track records over the course of their career but as for the time frame his was in the top 5. "Anyways, I was introduced to Serenity about two years ago, she hadn't been in a scrap at all." Gaius chuckled as Serenity took a sip of tea, clearly looking a bit annoyed. "She used that little trick that makes her move a lot faster then normal, didn't expect however for me to soften the ground around me into mud." Gaius smiled as he mock bowed. "So, she charged at me slipped up and ending up rolling a good 5 metres covered in mud by the end of it. Since she was using her power, for the rest of us it was just a blur of limbs rolling forward." Serenity set her tea back down on the table. "I was not as observant back then as I am now. Such a trick wouldn't work on me." She spoke calmly, she remembered that Gaius more often then not resorted to tricks instead of outright fighting. He never really threw stuff at the opponent, instead of he would restrain them, cause them to trip or get them off balance. He was a strange opponent to fight. "True, true." Gaius spoke in a sing song voice, he turned to Sayo then. "How about yourself then?" He inquired curiously. "Do you have any interesting stories you'd like to share?" He raised his cup and took a small drink from it before placing it back down, waiting for Sayo's response. |

Sayo laugh at the story. Turning the ground into mud was a clever trick, what a useful power he have there. She didn’t Serenity had the ability to move faster. From the impression of the introduction, she assumed that Serenity beat him. She took another sip of her tea and set it down on the table. “Unfortunately, I don’t have any interesting tales.” Sayo gave an apologetic smile. It was true, she live a fairly uneventful life so far and although it wasn’t normal, it was wasn’t intriguing ethier. Mostly full of afterschool classes, tutoring lessons and tedious social events, though that changed when she entered Hyakuji. She’d done alot of things interesting things in this school. “Perhaps I do have one, though I’m not sure it’s amusing enough.” “It was when I first entered this school and the very first class I took was cooking.” Sayo began, playing with the edge scarf around her neck, remembering the embarrassing event. “It was a bakery assessment where each student must bake something. It was a very bad for me, since I don’t know how to bake. I couldn’t even tell the difference between icing sugar and flour. I don’t I even know what flour really was.” Sayo cringe, remembering the bitter taste of flour. “I thought I was being clever and I made cereal. It was a very fancy cereal but it didn’t fit the ‘baking’ requirements. Fortunately, the teacher still accepted it and I passed.” “I’m afraid thats the only interesting story I have. I have the feeling the two of you have much more and I would love to hear them.” Edited by Sayo Rie, Jul 5 2014, 12:00 PM.

After hearing Sayo's story Gaius let out a small chuckle, on the other hand Serenity just had a small smirk across her face. It seemed like Sayo did indeed have a pretty ordinary childhood compared to the both of them. While they were fine with their childhoods both of them were a bit curious as to what a normal one was like. "Least you managed to make something." Gaius spoke with a warm smile, he was a bit more interested in this then even he thought. After leaving the orphanage and his old life behind he was more then ecstatic that he got to be with other people that had powers. The fact that something as simple as a mess up in the kitchen amused him felt a bit unusual, normally his attention could only be held by the truly amazing things in the world not something so mundane. He shrugged it off as she asked for more stories. "Well, I remember once." Gaius continued to speak, this next story didn't involve Serenity but it was still amusing from his point of view. "I grew up in an orphanage, at the entrance there was a small set of stone steps leading up to the building." He spoke his arms animate as he put emphasis on certain parts. "When I discovered my terramancy I spent a fair bit of time waiting hidden outside and whenever someone would be trying to get in or out I'd make or get rid of the last step." He chuckled, remembering the days where he was a little prankster. "Quite a few people fell for it, of course it earned me the ire of my fellow orphans but it was worth it." He smiled, times like that were fond memories of his. Even though he was alone he managed to make himself smile and have fun. Serenity frowned, she had heard some of Gaius's past from him on several occasions, how he managed to be so happy in those situations was beyond her. She probably would've crumbled under that kind of pressure, being able to be supported by the other members of The Court including Gaius helped her through her difficult times. Going through it alone would've been so much harder. "Seemed to have become a lot more tame then." Serenity spoke, smirking at Gaius. "I don't remember you playing any kind of pranks on me." Nodding at what Serenity said Gaius continued to speak. "Of course, I grew out of it rather quickly." Smiling he turned to Sayo. "Unless you have a particularly strong stomach I'm not sure how many other stories I can tell you." Gaius smirked, he had been on a few jobs himself so he knew just how grim some of them could be. "Of course if you still want to hear more then I'd be more then willing to share." |

The fact that Gaius lived in an orphanage didn’t suprised her but it, for some reason, made her a little uncomfortable. It was still very personal information, maybe not to him but it was for her. She was used to other people talking about how great and important their family was and it served as an asset to them. Never have anyone talked about the opposite, making them sound weak in comparison to others. Gaius probably didn’t see it that way and all he said was he grew up in an orphanage not family-less. She laugh at his story as she imagined a small version of him and the comedic way his prank must have played out. Though it was adorable, she was glad he grew out of pranking as Hyakuji already have pranksters. She didn’t like the idea of a growing population of them roaming around and preying on innocent passersby. “I think I’ll be fine. It is up to you if you want to tell the story.” She didn’t know what a strong stomach entail but a story is a story so it can’t be too frightful, right? |

"Oh, don't we have a confident young lady here." Gaius smiled jokingly, wondering if Serenity had explained the kind of jobs that they often took Gaius was a bit suprised. He was expecting her to turn down the offer of further stories but if she wanted to hear more he had no reason to refuse. "I think I have one that even Serenity-chan hasn't heard of yet." Gaius smirked when Serenity raised her eyebrows in curiosity, this was a story that Gaius rarely told. It was probably the darkest moment in his past, he didn't really like bringing it up but he would do it for the sake of entertainment. Trying to remember the memory that he had nearly forgotten he begun to speak. "I didn't start off as a trainer, I used to be an active agent." His voice was a bit more serious now, it wasn't as carefree and happy as before, considering the upcoming story it wasn't suprising. "On a mission me and a few of my fellow agents were sent to a certain area to dispose of a militant group." While his smile wasn't fading from his face he was speaking seriously. Serenity understood what was happening now, while Gaius hadn't told her this story she had heard the report from Bishop. An unequivocal disaster, that's what the mission was. While she wasn't going to stop him from telling it, she placed her cup down in case he needed any support. "Skipping all the technical stuff, we ended up getting caught." Gaius spoke as he fast forwarded the story to the main part. "We underestimated the enemy." He smirked, last time that he ever did that. Even if the enemy was just rookie agents sent to him for training he never underestimated anything after that encounter. "We were bound and held for ransom." Of course The Court wasn't about to throw away huge amounts of money for several agents in their organization, thinking that he was that important to the agency was nothing more then deluded idealism. "The ransom they asked for never came, however The Court managed to sneak in a message that they were sending a rescue party." The catastrophe was one of the most traumatic experiences of Gaius's life, he had to wonder how he had managed to stay afloat even after that. "Before they could rescue us though, they had already executed the other agents and moved camp." He was the only one who survived the experience and that came at him not being able to save the others when he should've been. "They didn't inspect to see whether or not I died, they were already being hurried to the next position." Gaius smiled, he really had no reason to. Even he didn't know why he smiled so much. "Three days later the rescue operation came in, by then though I was barely conscious and the others were little more then decaying corpses." How he managed to survive a trauma like that was beyond him, he still smiled even when being carted off by the rescue operatives. He had been starved and seen his friends die and their bodies decompose but he still had a smile on his face. "That to much for you?" Gaius said looking over to Sayo, while he still smiled it seemed like a worn smile, that always happened when he told this story. Serenity sat there, he really went through a lot. More then she had herself, she silently praised Gaius. He was definetly one that wouldn't just lie down and quit, she felt slightly envious about his tenacity. |
