After dropping the cat back to it's owner Serenity was excited. It was her first job in Hyakuji and it was one that was done without much complications, she managed to get the cat back in one piece to the owner and she didn't even have to dirty her hands by dealing with the demon with excessive force. Overall it was a job well done if she had ever been on one before.

The only problem was, she didn't get the whole payment to herself. Silently cursing, she wondered how much his assistance was going to take out of her payment. The one that assisted her being none other then the young boy that was walking beside her right now. She had to admit though that he was a surprise. She wasn't expecting him to be much help against the creature but he proved to be adequate assistance, managing to immobilize the creature to allow her to deal some reasonable damage to it.

Arriving at the school gate she stopped, since she had to wait to see if her payment had gotten through before giving away what money she had on her person she decided to go back with him and compensate him right there and then. "So, which dorm are you in then?" Serenity asked looking towards the school and then back at Kaizo waiting for a response.

As agreed previously, Kaizo met up with Serenity in front of the school gate. Because of some lucky star that had befallen on him a certain day, he had been able to get the promise of payment without having to pull much effort, and for an action that, he would have done regardless. However, after pondering for a second, had he never mentioned that he had seen the cat, it would have been entirely likely that he would have left right before the random monster of the day showed up.

Eyeing the dejected looking girl, a spark of sympathy flared momentarily, right before he remembered that, business was business and a deal a deal. The girl had been the first to happily offer payment, and he had a good reason to await it, as it would allow him to afford luxuries that would otherwise be outside of his budget.

It was then that he was asked a question that would, most likely, lead to him being compensated properly, a rather simple one that could be answered in one word.

"Yuki"

Assuming that Serenity wanted to keep a decent level of organization with her money much in the same way that he did, he had no qualms to answer the question posed before him.

"Let's just hope that a monster does not appear while we walk there"

Despite having stated that as a joke to lighten up the mood, his expression remained, as usual, mostly serious, making it difficult to discern the intention behind his words.

Hearing the boy's answer Serenity took off towards Yuki dorm. While she was a bit irritated at the situation it could've been a lot more annoying so she calmed herself down. Besides there was most likely going to be plenty of jobs in Hyakuji so her funding would be coming in regardless.

Hearing his jab a small chuckle escaped her. "It does make situations a tad more irritating when variables appear." She was still somewhat in her professional mindset but it was much more relaxed then it was prior. As an agent she had to accept that there would be variables occurring in some of her missions, this didn't make them any less irritating though as she had found out. Though the ability to go for a stretch with her power's was much appreciated.

Arriving at the ground level of the Yuki dorm she looked up at it, the similarity between it and the Fudo dorm was expected considering. She turned back to Kaizo, without knowing where his room was she couldn't exactly take the lead. "Lead on then." She waited and gestured for him to continue.

Thankfully, despite his lack of social skills, he had been able to lighten up the mood as intended. She explained how it was usually annoying to face variables that she hadn't been expecting, Kaizo agreed, in the process getting curious about what she did for a living.

"So how did you hear about the cat quest?"

As he said that, he looked at the familiar building that was the Yuki house. The road was marked in his head, clear as if it had been a minimap in some random game. His steps echoed through the stairs that would lead to the second floor, the situation itself passing by in a form of autopilot, without him really considering any of the things he did, just doing them because it was natural to follow his steps that way.

"Here we go"

Pushing the door of dorm room 233 revealed the room that he shared with another student. Some of his stuff, such as his gaming laptop, physical copies of Katie Salen's Rules of Play and Scott Rogers' "Level Up!" As well as a tablet laying around. A glance to the side would reveal an open closet containing all of the previous and current generation consoles.

"So this is it"

Kaizo found that he didn't really have anything to hide. He pondered for a second why people usually felt odd showing their rooms to others, right before brushing the thought away, he really didn't need to question himself over unimportant topics.

A small chuckle escaped Serenity's lips when Kaizo inquired about the job, the naming of it as a quest was something that would be expected in a video game. At the core though, jobs, mission and quests were more or less the same kind of thing. They all involved doing something for the appropriate payment, whether that be material gain or ideological gain they all were tasks which had a reward.

"It was one of the jobs that my employer passed to me." She answered his question, she had already made it clear that she worked under someone. There was no reason to hide it, after all it was more publicity and that meant more jobs for her in the long run.

As she stepped into Kaizo's dorm she suddenly understood his use of the word quest. There were lots of video game material in his room. "Gamer huh, interesting." Serenity spoke to herself, it seemed reasonable considering his powers looked similar to pixels but still. She didn't have clocks around everywhere and her powers were to do with time. Judging a book by it's cover like that was a rookie error.

"Well then, let's get down to business." Serenity spoke as she moved her way over to a nearby chair and taking a seat. She pulled out a phone and began to call someone. "Has it gone through?" She asked the person on the other end of the phone, she nodded as she was listening before hanging up the phone.

Turning back to Kaizo she eyed him, she wasn't sure how much he wanted as compensation. What she was about to do could go either really well or really badly for her paycheck but it was the rules. "How much or what do you want as compensation?" She bought her hand to her chin as she eyed the boy, waiting for his response.

Not having received any details of Serenity's employer, he figured that she had drawn a line regarding her work there, he did not ask further questions regarding the topic. Her next comment came only once they had arrived at his room, with his hobby visibly sprawled on the ground.

"Yeah, that's what I do when I have free time, I've even written some gaming debates with a friend in Hyakuji's Rising SUn."

After his short explanation, the time to receive the promised compensation had arrived, or at the very least agree on what he should receive based on what he did. The girl grabbed the chair that he generally used to play on his laptop, while Kaizo took a seat in one of the beds, standing little more than a meter apart. She made a phone call, which he assumed was related to the situation at hand.

Without wasting a moment, she made her question as directly as possible. Admittedly, he preferred it that way, rather than wasting time chitchatting about inconsequential matters to delay the money talk for as long as possible, just talk about exact amounts and then agree to something.

"How do 2500 yen sound?"

Figuring that searching for a missing animal would usually land somewhere between 6000 to 10000 yen, the bluenette asked for a sensitive amount that would still allow him to, together with his entertainment expense for the month, complete for the console that he had seen in the Otaku Kingdom, if having to risk being ton a tight budget for the remainder of the month. Aside from that, he did not have anything larger that he wanted to ask for, nor did he need a favour from the girl. Not at the moment anyhow, and if he ever did, it was entirely possible to pay the agency that she was working for, or her directly since they went to the same school.

Serenity raised an eyebrow, he wasn't really asking for a lot of money considering the amount that the job paid. Then again she didn't end up saying what the payment was so that made a bit of sense, but still he had gotten into a fight with a dangerous creature. Serenity had to admit that she was quite surprised at how little he valued it, quite an interesting person if she had to say so herself.

"Aren't you lucky I'm just so generous then." Serenity spoke sarcastically as she pulled out 5000 yen and placed it on the table. "This is about half of the payment from the job." She had her own code to maintain, it was only fair considering he did half of the work against the creature.

"So, what was with your powers?" She inquired, she didn't seem like she was ready to move yet. After a job well done she liked having a rest and Kaizo's room had been the victim to give it to her. "They were quite unusual, I can't say i've seen anything like them before." She eyed him interestingly, he was someone that The Court would've wanted to get their hands on instantly.

The suggestion he had made for the compensation based on what he thought was fair had been received with confusion from Serenity, apparently the girl had expected him to ask for a bit more than he did. It reached the point where she decided to give him more than he had asked for regardless of his own suggestion, exactly half of what she had gotten from the job itself.

"I will take that then, thank you very much."

Kaizo himself had been surprised at the high moral standard which she held herself in. Many others would have used that opportunity to simply give the amount that he had asked for and be done with that. He grabbed the 5000 yen fro the table and placed them in his wallet, ensuring to keep them safely held with himself, with that his budget would be ever so slightly less tight, leaving him with about 2500 yen for fun, not much, but enough to go to the arcade once or twice as long as he did not lose, chances were he would not anyway.

Seconds later, she commented on the unusual qualities regarding his abilities, figuring that there was no harm in telling her, he proceeded.

"Oh this, I acquired my abilities in an accident related to a game I made."

He didn't really expand on how it happened, assuming that what she was interested was in the what, not the why of how they worked. After pointing at a random direction, a cubic blue 8 bit block appeared at the tip of his finger.

'What you saw before was only the destructive version of my ability, there is also this form, these ones can't be moved under any circumstance, they can be broken if a lot of force is put into them though."

Lastly, he finished by leaving aside some of his other capabilities for later, mostly to avoid accidentally breaking something.

"There's some other things I can do with this, but I don't really feel like messing up y room, need more pixel energy for another, and only just learned the last one, still trying to control it."

She smiled as she was thanked for the payment, speaking calmly she replied. "No need for thanks, you earned it." If he didn't earn it she wouldn't have given it to him, that was as simple as it was. She followed the rules of The Court in regards to jobs it was as simple as that, it was her code of honor to speak of. If someone made her job easier by half then they deserved half of the payment, she did wonder if this was done to try and persuade agents to not involve others which was a bit unusual but still a possibility.

When the boy displayed his powers she raised an eyebrow whilst observing the strange event unfold in front of herself. "Oh, I see." She smirked, he definetly was someone that The Court would be quite interested in. Hyakuji had turned out to be quite a gold mine, it was unfortunate for The Court that she was a Knight and not a Bishop. They'd have a field day if they had a recruiter over here, it made her wonder why they didn't have one.

"Sounds interesting indeed." She spoke as she raised her gauntlets. "My powers are mainly related to temporal energy, the stuff left by the passage of time." She smiled mischievously, it was a bit of a strange comparison games and time. Both things not normally controlled and both things that held different meanings for different people. "As I displayed earlier I can alter my perception of time along with that of my bodies allowing me more 'time' to act then what passes for reality." It was a strange power, she didn't fully understand how it actually worked because it seemed impossible but then again she was in a city where the impossible was the everyday.

Shaking her head she narrowed her eyes back onto the boy. "I have to ask, does things like that appear in Hyakuji commonly?" She wasn't expecting a creature like that in the center of the town. In the outskirts around the forest, maybe? Not the center of the town though. She was curious to hear his answer.

"I see, well that does explain the abilities you displayed indeed". The boy nodded, Hyakuji was a city where abilities extended only as far as imagination itself did, time manipulation being about as likely to exist as any other power, his own included in that expansive radius of that which was impossible to truly and fully explain.

Afterwards she asked a question, one which he himself had to ask himself when he had been new to the city, but didn't recently. He had gotten used to taking appearances of dangerous beings as perfectly and completely normal, dealing with them was just a small aspect of living in the city that he did, and chances were that even if he didn't, someone would, eventually.

"Not everyday, it is similar to weather, much like it may rain one day, it may so happen that a creature decides to randomly and for no reason show up."

Despite the ridiculous scenario he had just explained, he did not intend any part of it as a joke. Like weather, it was something you did not necessarily expect, but were prepared for, and after a while it turned into a relatively minor annoyance that a person just had to deal with.

"Hmm, that's interesting indeed." Serenity spoke as she thought about it, that would definetly end up making her missions that she received a lot more chaotic. Granted if they were something as mundane as bringing a cat back to it's owner then she wouldn't exactly be arguing with some excitement, however if her mission was one of protection then that would end up causing more annoyance then the excitement was worth.

She sat up and smirked, her hands moving in front of her face. "So, are you involved in brawls like that often then?" He seemed to know a fair bit about the town so trying to grab some information wasn't the worst thing in the world.

Knowing that she was equally as likely to run into a demon then say a stray cat or dog, Serenity decided that getting some information about the kind of creatures that she might be running into was a good idea, it also helped to keep the conversation running for a little while longer. She didn't want to overstay her welcome and as long as she kept on talking then she wouldn't be overstaying it.

Interesting was a good way to refer to the monster situation. Instead of scary, or horrible, saying that it was interesting indicated that the girl herself had probably accepted it as a regular occurrence in Hyakuji, something that in the end would be of little to no consequence to her goals. He nodded, understanding her viewpoint, and waiting for further feedback on what he had just said.

Changing the atmosphere into a far more relaxed one, no doubt because they had sorted the matter regarding money, she smiled and asked a polite question. Kaizo pondered it for a second, closing his eyes to recall instances. He was tempted to say that he was not usually involved with that, but just from the top of his head he remembered the dragon incident with Bocky, as well as the constant trouble through which the witches would usually put him through. A pained grimace flashed through his face for less than a second as he recalled the problem with Kues.

"Wouldn't say brawls really, there's more than enough people here to deal with them, even if we hadn't been there probably someone would.

Speaking, he deviated some of the fault from himself to the environment, but as he did, he noticed that he hadn't actually responded the question that the girl had asked.

"But yes, I've been in more than a fair share of situations like that before"

In the end it seemed better to be completely honest and straight with her, regardless of what he thought about the word brawl, he had in fact had to deal with more than a few beasts and monsters. Surprisingly, he had survived through all of it.

"I'd wager that you will face your fair share in a short while"

His words were only partially teasing her, as it was entirely possible for her to face another creature within short notice, letting her know beforehand was only part of basic manners.

Nodding as the boy answered explaining that more often then not people would step in to deal with creatures like that, Serenity had to wonder if everyone in this town had the mindset of a hero or whether it was just to keep their town monster free.

Either way, risking their lives against these creatures even if it was simply for entertainment's purposes was fine by Serenity, after all she had just beaten up a monster because it was interrupting her job. Not a really big reason for doing so but she still did it, granted the monster was going to attack her if she didn't hand over the cat that was important to her job. One could consider it self defense.

"I could tell." She smiled, the boy wasn't a stranger to combat. She could see that from how he fought. There were some parallels between him and a few agents that would focus on tactics that were based more around ruining the opponent's footing and balance. It was a common tactic but a good one none the less, especially if one had backup to take advantage of that tactic.

"Chances are I'll probably end up going and looking for them." She smiled folding her arms in front of her, more often then not jobs that she liked to call pest extermination came up. Those jobs often involved hunting down and exterminating demons and various other creatures that were causing people problems.

A coy smile appeared on her face. "Though, I wouldn't mind some company." Serenity said as she let out a small chuckle. He had been shooting some small teases her way so it was only fair to respond in kind. "What do you say?" She spoke coyly, even if the boy accepted the offer she'd end up laughing it off.

Surprisingly, he was not chastised for having been involved in unnecessary scuffles, the girl seemed to understand that in the end, it was often just a situation of avoiding having a bigger problem sometime in the future.

She answered to his earlier comment on him being experienced in battle by stating that it was easy to tell that he was not a newbie to combat. He nodded, it was not something that could be hidden just like that, much like an experienced sportsman would be discerned from someone that just started playing just from how they positioned their body, it was just as easy to tell when someone had learned to take care of himself in a battle.

"You aren't too shabby either, something you learned at your company?

Figuring that he might as well just return the company, he popped a question regarding her own past experience. Serenity had made it clear that she hadn't been in the city for long, which meant that Kaizo could only guess where she obtained her experience from, one has to level up from somewhere after all.

"Looking for them might end up with finding what you want, or a friendly flying talking dog."

Expecting something specific from Hyakuji was not necessarily a good idea, as it was bound to end up with something completely unlike what was expected.

"That said, if you do manage to get a clue as to where that thing came from, I might be more willing to join in some monster hunting."

Making a reference to a game he liked and giving a response to her earlier question made him feel accomplished, enough for a small smile to show on his face, before quickly being replaced by his usual neutral expression.

When Kaizo had inquired as to where she had learned her own combat skill she smirked, not many people actually took note of her own skill in combat. It was a bit of a pleasant change, seeing someone recognize her effort that she had put in to get skilled in the arts of combat.

"What can I say, get thrown against people that can kick your ass long enough and you learn little by little." She let out a small chuckle, she couldn't tell the number of times that one of the Rooks had left her beaten up. "Little bit of a saying amongst my company, the whole practice ended up saving my life more then a few times." If she hadn't been so harshly trained then she would probably have died several times in the field, it was as simple as that.

In reference to the flying dog another small chuckle escaped her lips. "Well, I might end up being forced into finding that kind of thing anyways." She smirked before continuing to speak. "Well, I'll consider contacting you if something comes up where I can use help." She was a trained agent though, the situations where she really needed help were few and far between. "Though, I can't really say much about not needing a large amount of assistance, considering that I needed help finding a cat." She offered up a small bit of humor.
