The transfer process was moving fairly smoothly. She didn't know what it entailed exactly, or how the Dr. Clover had managed to arrange for any of this with zero identification papers and zero proofs. but the good doctor had assured her things would be done some time later that afternoon to let her begin something resembling normalcy until her future could be worked out. For now however, she could roam around the city and do whatever she wanted. In this case, what she wanted to do was... ![]() She quickly continued flipping through the song list, trying to decide on which one to play, finally settling on Senbonzakura. Both song lists. On both ends of the machine. There not being all that many people in, she had this particular Mai Mai machine all to herself, and so paid twice the credit at a time to run both ends of it at once, set to sync mode. The opening beats of the music started, and her hands traced away at the screens as she stood between the two units, perfectly in sync, her eyes focused on tracking the screen with a sense of space and timing that did not exist for normal humans. In a sense, she was cheating. At least, compared to a baseliner. With eye and muscle replaced with cybernetic implants designed for use in high speed aerial combat, the ability to spot, distinguish, track, plot, and react to the symbols was child's play compared to doing the same to the danmaku she faced at air combat speeds, but for all that, it didn't make it any less fun for her, blazing away to the sound of the music as the combo meter rose steadily upwards. |

Arcades, arcades. Arcades In between taking care of Hibiki, doing her part-time job, going to school and swimming almost every day, Amitie had very little time to go to arcades! But now, the pool happened to be closed. Screw that, Amitie thought. It had something to do with renovations or something, which is a sad excuse to not let her swim around. Ah well, whatever. Amitie had different things she could be doing instead. Arcades, arcades... ...There was a very good reason that she had stopped going to arcades. Amitie was usually very careful with her money, not spending a dime over her budget. This meant that she had accumulated quite a bit of savings! This also meant that she never ran into money problems. However Arcades destroyed that very concept. They were like a ceaseless black-hole of anti-funds. They were the Dudu of reality. One step into an arcade, and Amitie would play until she wasted everything in her pockets... ...well, that, or she'd be broke because she broke a machine. Anyhow, against better judgement, Amitie entered the arcade. She was in the mood for a rhythm game, but some casuals were hogging the DDR machine and most of the mai-mai machines were taken, too. It made her rather... antsy. With a semi-impatient glare in her eyes, she would bounce from machine to machine, finally catching one that wasn't taken, and upon starting the song she- Umm, was that girl doing... Amitie got completely distracted. While her hands semi-accurately moved around the machine because of sheer memorization, she was completely fixated on the short girl that was playing two at the same time. Sure, it wasn't that rare to see someone play two at the same time... But dear god, this little lady was actually doing well. jiiii |

Thousands of cherry trees vanish into the night. You will sing, I will dance! Here is a banquet inside the steel jail, so fire away with your raygun! ... SYNC: 92.4% ACHIEVEMENT: 93.2% SCORE: 365,150 RANK: A+ CLEAR! BONUS/3! THANK YOU FOR PLAYING! A quick sigh as the machine gave her a final score, then updated her card. Regardless of how fast one's could react to the song and track every possibility, some parts of the song were simply not possible without accelerating her body with a burst of thrust. Using Air Combat tracking systems was cheating enough, and it wouldn't do to attract too much attention for now, she thought. With that in mind, she withdrew her card and took a moment to massage her shoulders. The crowds were beginning to come in as people got off work and classes, and it was considered impolite to hog a machine for too long afterall... I wonder if Dr.Clover is done yet... she wondered |

"Ninety percent...?" Amitie let a few words slip as she watched the insanely accurate little lass. Did she seriously achieve 90% in sync mode? Amitie thought that people getting around 50 to 60% like that was already impressive enough. But this girl seemed to be as close to perfect as humanly possible! ...Was that even humanly possible? "How did you... er... umm..." Amitie completely lost her cool for a moment, here. Was this girl cheating using some sort of power? Even if she did have super speed, she would still need to almost-perfectly move the both of her arms. Even with incredibly heightened reactions, she would still need to take in both screens at once... No matter how Amitie looked at it, it was a little ridiculous. She would probably call her out for cheating if she looked a little older and a little less cute. "That's, uh, cool! You're good at this!" Amitie would quickly regain her calm, at least partially because of the cuteness the youth radiated. "You must come here often! Do you just practice the same song a lot, or-" No, wait. Too fast. "Sorry~ Where're my manners. What's your name, talented little miss...?" She was definitely not actually trying to sound flirty, but something always possessed her when it came to the cute types. Without her having to even say a word, Amitie had already categorized Sayaka as one of those. |

"Ah, Ta-ta-Tachibana Sayaka." Being approached by a stranger on friendly terms was a new concept for her. There had been many reasons for people she hadn't met before throughout her life, but gushing overtures to praise her ability wasn't one of them. And for once it wasn't something that she found questionable. Such things had come often enough, but it had always been from comrades in the service, or evaluators who were impressed by combat aptitude. It was all she'd ever been known for. Very few had talked about anything other than the war, even after it had ended. For her, it was something that coloured her entire life with an indelible dye, forever marking her as one of those who lived through it. Even if it was because of enhancements made to make her a better warmachine, even if it was mildly embarassing, it felt good to be praised for something besides her ability to fight. It was certainly a feeling she could get used to. "Well, I've never actually been here before, and I remember my mother liked this song when she was around, so I just tried it. It's honestly not that hard..." she explained, rubbing the back of her head in embarassment |

Tatata? Considering the odds were highly unlikely that her name contained a triple-repeating syllable like that, this girl just became a lot cuter. She was stuttering. It was as if this girl was actively trying to instigate her predatory- Err, sisterly instincts. "Well, I'm Amitie." She didn't like being all too formal, so she just gave her own first name in response. Shy people tended to prefer super-casual conversation, in her experience, at least! But first, Amitie gave the girl a few moments to collect her thoughts. No need to overstimulate the poor girl, and- Wait, that was easy? This was her first time? Awestruck, Amitie instantly responded with a "You're kidding, right?" her tone was a bit rough, as if catching someone on an obvious lie. Her eyes turned a bit more stern for an instant, too- But then she caught herself, shaking her head and reviving her smile. "Err- um, it's actually really hard! For most people, it's already hard enough with one machine. You must be amazingly talented!" the redhead didn't want to assume that Sayaka was a liar. Maybe she just had some powers that made this really easy for her... no way a regular would be able to get that down on their first try! |

![]() "Oh actually it's a lot simpler than you might think!" she explained cheerfully, and gestured to the machine "The actual input you're supposed to be doing is the same, but displaced 115 centimetres to the left or right of the other, so if you keep track of one screen and focus on that, you just have to keep both hands roughly in sync and adjust for distance between them." And the rest was simply reflexes and the ability to keep track of things. It was also possible to eventually get it in by muscle memory, but it was already simple affair if you could track and respond to such objects at such speed. The hard parts were the ones that required your hands on opposite ends of the screen at time, which required both hands normally or least your body to be centered on that part of the machine. "Well, a taller person or someone with faster arms could probably score better I think, it's a little hard to reach both ends sometimes if you have to keep switching and twisting..." |

Ahaha... 'Simple', she says. Well, sure, if you can perfectly sync up your own body like that... and if you have the ability to react to the incoming beats faster than the screen could process them... Sure, if you had the beatmap perfectly memorized, it should be possible to do this well one some songs. Like the songs designed to be played on one hand! But this one didn't seem like one of those... Well, it wouldn't be IMPOSSIBLE to play the song with one hand. But the speed you would have to move your hand at and how accurate you had to be... And then, almost perfectly replicating those movements on another screen? With enough muscle memory, sure, but for your first time...? "I, err..." Amitie stared at Sayaka for a second, completely dumbfounded at how she considered this all so simple. "For most people, it really is hard. Humans make mistakes, after all. We aren't computers." Amitie said, before letting out a soft sigh. This girl probably had enhanced reflexes- or something like that. Her arms weren't really going all super speedy. ...Amitie gulped after that. S-she... she didn't sound mean, right? She didn't want to hurt a cute little thing like Sayaka! That'd be horrible. "Well~ I guess that just means you're really talented!" Were she a little less cute, Amitie would've bopped her over the head for flailing her skill around so loudly. It's rude! ...But being cute lets you get away with a lot of things around Amitie... |

Humans make mistakes, after all. We aren't computers No, she thought, letting it go. People from this time didn't mean it the way it would have been said from back then. There wasn't any of the subtle hatred in that tone. It was clearly not meant that way, but it had bothered her for just a moment before Amitie complimented her talents. "Ah, well... that is... thank you." She said, sounding mildly embarassed. Being praised in earnest was something she'd never gotten used to. It had always had something else attached to it. Suitability as a combat weapon, suitability for air combat, or some other task that someone could use in a battlefield. "Though actually this is a little easier than the things they used to make me train with." Edited by Katyusha, Jul 4 2014, 09:47 PM.

Even though Amitie's senses as an older sister were honed to an unrivalled extent, she could only barely pick up on Sayaka's slight discomfort. And, really, that's why she appended her words so quickly after! With her change of course, it seemed like all is well. "Oh, don't get so embarrassed~ It's fine to be proud of your talents." Ah, hopefully she wasn't working against some sort of parent here. Being in line rather than out of it was important to Japanese culture, after all! A slight anxiety coursed through her system when Sayaka mentioned her training. Amitie preferred to keep her mind free of morbidity, but the connotation that that word had made it a bit... difficult. Her experiences with Hibiki and her actual little sister made her a bit more cynical, it seemed. Amitie couldn't help but quickly turn to negative conclusions. Even if there were no sorts of training she could think of that was negative and prepare her for rhythm games, she couldn't help that uneasy feeling. Quickly, Amitie would wipe the anxiety off her face, replacing it with a smile and deciding to outright ask it, hoping she wasn't being too pushy. "Huh? Training~? What do you mean? It must've been really tough if you consider this all easy~" |

![]() "Well it was basically that we'd have to track blinking lights and then shoot them as they came by, but we were only allowed to hit them while they were a certain colour, and we lost points if any of them got past or hit us." It was the 'saturated combat environment' drill of her Air combat training. Nicknamed the epilepsy test, it was hard enough that it made the task of playing a rhythm game look simple by comparison, especially the bits where targets were being tracked at speeds of hundreds of kilometres per hour. Computer aided vision and tracking systems didn't hurt either. |
