Sayo suppressed a groan as she walked down the steps of the Fudo dorms. She had to change rooms because her current one was defected. Her phone buzzed to inform her of a new message but she didn’t bother to look. It was probably the moving crew, who knew moving into a room of the same building can be so bothersome. They can wait, she wanted to check out her new dorm room first. A silly thing to do because all dormitory rooms are probably going to be identical but Sayo doesn't like to be surprise.

She stopped when she reached into the first floor and turned to the hallway. She pulled out a slip of paper which had a scribbled number on it: 109. Sayo folded paper and walked down the hall, she concentrated on each door until she reached her designated number. She look out a key from her bag and unlocked the door. Please please let it be big.

She entered her new room and took off her shoes at the entry. She walked through the mini hallway and entered the living room. A pile of luggage laid in the middle of the room. Sayo frowned, she wasn’t informed of a roommate. "Is anybody here?"

She surveyed the room from where she stood. Four doors. A balcony. Built in kitchen. The living area was spacious enough, a good start. She would love to see her new room but without her roommate or roommates she didn't know which one belong to her.

Serenity had just split up from Artemis after the tour they had been on. Still carrying the bottle of soda which she was taking a long time to drink she walked towards her own room. Noticing the door was already opened Serenity silently moved forward, it was probably just her roommate but that made the silence even more important.

She noticed that it was a girl with brown hair standing looking over the room. It seemed like it was indeed her roommate, deciding to have a little fun with her. Slowly and silently she approached her roommate's back and reached her gloved hands around Sayo's mouth and stomach as if to restrain her. The fact that she was still wearing her gauntlets would certainly add to the shock factor.

"Oh oh, what do we have here?" Sayo would hear Serenity's voice, however she'd have trouble seeing Serenity who was positioning herself in a good position to hide from her roommate. This might have been going a bit overboard but it was always nice to have a little bit of fun with someone you'd end up living with and this way she'd know the limits of her new roommate. "Are you a present?" She whispered coyly in Sayo's ear, she was going definetly overboard with this. "Shall I unwrap you then?" She tugged at Sayo's shirt waiting to see what kind of delicious reaction she could pull out of her new roommate.

It felt like Sayo’s blood turned into ice and she immediately froze in place as a gloved hand covered her mouth while her body was restrained by the intruder’s other arm. Her eyes widen in shocked and her mind became blank, unable to comprehend what was happening. Fear had complete control over her.

"Oh oh, what do we have here?" Sayo choked as her restrainer spoke in a teasing manner. She couldn’t see but from the feminine voice it was women. The initial terror faded and her mind slowly started to work. She should have locked the door. Why didn’t she hear her intruder approach. Who was this person. Someone after her. No. An assailant lose in Hyakuji. But there was no news about any attacks. A student gone crazy. She should have locked the door. Sayo blinked and closed her eyes, trying gain complete control of her mind over her fear."Are you a present?"

No, don’t be foolish. What good a emotion freed mind? Sayo let out a shaky breath and let fear take over once again but this time did not resist. She let the icy water run through her veins, feeling it spread to her fingers and toes. Despite the numbing sensation, her internal mind was screaming and begging to be release from this dangerous situation. Her body wanted to struggle and escape but her body was too numb to move. She soaked in the feeling, engraving into her mind. "Shall I unwrap you then?"

Sayo didn’t waver or shown sign of movement as she used her power in full force. The feeling she been soaking up was now projected to anybody(with emotional capability) would be affected. The desperate desire to escape. The numbing sensation. Inability to think rationally. Shock. Terror. Fear.

Serenity felt something wrong coming from the girl, releasing her and jumping backwards she felt a surge of emotion come through her. She remembered this feeling, it was the same thing she felt when her parents were killed in front of her. It was fear, the fear to get as far away as possible. That fear that had stopped her years ago from trying to save her parents, the fear that had taken away everything from her.

The fear that she had spent years preparing to defy, the fear of being left alone and with nothing. "Not again." She growled angrily, despite her instincts screaming at her to run away from this person. "I won't lose it all again." If Sayo turned around she would see her frozen in spot trembling. Raising her eyes she would see Serenity's eyes looked like an cornered animal lashing out, radiating an aura of danger.

"I WILL NOT LET EVERYTHING BE TAKEN FROM ME AGAIN." She shouted as she raised her gauntlet in front of her, temporal energy began to gather into her gauntlet. Sayo would be able to notice a clock like symbol appear above the gauntlet's hand and the hand of the clock moved to the first quarter. She seemed more then willing to attack Sayo if she couldn't find a way to defuse the situation or escape quickly.

Sayo let out a shaky breath and stumbled a few steps forward upon her release. Relief flooded through her and the fear in her system started to ebb away. She struggled to maintain her power as ease and comfort relaxed her nerves. It was hard to transmit terror when she was feeling gleeful that the situation was now in her favor.

"Not again."She could hear her assailant growling behind her and she didn’t to turn around that her emotions reached the girl. Confidence washed the numbing sensation from Sayo’s body, allowing her to move and think clearly. "I won't lose it all again."

Donning a composed expression, she turned to face her attacker and was pleased to see her trembling. Revenge was sweet. She assessed the girl in starting from bottom to top. Her intruder was younger than her but whether she was a Hyakuji High student Sayo wasn’t sure. Sayo stopped and was taken back by the girl’s eyes. Her confidence cracked and her power flickered before completely stop though fear still hung in the air. The atmosphere was thick with heavy emotion as Sayo locked eyes with the girl. Why isn’t she escaping? Why isn’t she backing down? What is this unease feeling?

"I WILL NOT LET EVERYTHING BE TAKEN FROM ME AGAIN."

Sayo flinched and instinctively stepped back, feeling confused and uneased. Whatever glove she’s wearing was clearly a weapon. Anxiety filled her and she acted without clearly thinking. “S-stop! Y-you don’t want to do that. No one is taking anything away from you. Think clearly on what you are about to.

Sayo’s second ability, her Compelling Persuasion, was no absolute command. It was use to change the will of a person with real persuasion laced in her powered words. Ideally, with the combination of the right emotions and right words a person’s will changed and obedient of her. But right now, this was not the right emotions or right words and she never used her second power so spontaneously. She wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t work but she had to try.

Conflicting instincts and words swarmed Serenity's head. There were words telling her to stop, her instincts telling her to run and her body and mind telling her to say and deal with the threat.

Her left hand moved towards her head which was throbbing in pain from the confusion. She could recognize through her rage that this girl had powers over emotions at the very least, but that didn't make them feel any less real. It seemed like Sayo's powers had sort of worked but in the confusion of all the conflicting feelings Serenity was completely lost. What feelings were her's and what weren't.

"Get out of my head." She growled quietly as the clock hand on her gauntlet moved forward to the halfway point of a circle. "To many voices." Tears were falling from her face but her hand didn't move. She was very unstable as of the current point in time and could potentially lash out at any second. "Take them away, NOW!" She wasn't asking the girl before her to stop what she was doing, she was ordering her to do so and considering her state who knows what would happen if Sayo refused.

Sayo narrowed her eyes and frowned. The girl knew or at least have some clue about her powers. She would no longer have the upperhand in this situation or future confrontation, it’s hard to manipulation someone if they know they're being manipulated. She clenched her jaw, upset with herself for exposing her powers and being in this situation.

She watched as the girl broken down and mused to herself, she never pushed someone over the edge before. From the state of this situation, it would be wise no never push someone so far. Learned something, at least I got something out of this.

“Fine. There I stopped.” Sayo apathetically raised her hands up in defeat. She already stopped her powers a few seconds ago and she had no control over the aftershock or lingering emotions but the girl didn't know that. She wasn't going to tell her, wanting to the girl suffer a little more. A part of her was sicken from what she done to the girl but a bigger part of her was angry for no longer having the situation in her control.

She had no more moves to play and she tried not to let dread sink in. She was anxious, wishing that was something she could do but using her powers would only worsen the situation. The girl was in an unstable state and but her hands was still on that device. There was little hope to this situation.

Sayo said nothing and kept a lazy expression, giving the appearance of indifference, trying to give an illusion that the girl, the situation was beneath her. There was no way she would give her attacker the satisfaction of knowing how she truly feel right now. She looked the girl in the eye as she waited for the girl to calm down. Hopefully she would calm down. If not, at least she was able to see her attacker’s embarrassing state.

"Being pushed to the edge on your first day?" Serenity looked up at the familiar voice, if Sayo turned around she would see a lady standing there. However the lady wasn't actually there, it was an image being projected by a small metal drone sitting on the table. "Surely you are better then that." The woman spoke as the image walked in front of Serenity. "Or don't you remember your promise." Serenity's mouth opened in protest but it was pointless she couldn't even try to counter her argument, even if she did she'd end up losing.

The clock's hand moved forward another quarter, it was far to dangerous to dissipate it safely back into the air. Pulling her fist back, Serenity thrust it through the nearby wall, her glove began to spark wildly. Gritting her teeth Serenity bared with the pain, it wouldn't do to attack someone on her first day, even if she was a threat.

"See, that's better." The projection spoke, before turning around and shaking her head in Sayo's direction. "Well, I believe introductions are in order here." She smiled walking through Sayo before the projection took a seat on a nearby chair. "Young Miss Rie, this is your roommate. Her name is Serenity." She spoke knowingly resting her chin on her hands. "If possible try not to drive her insane anymore." She smiled but there would be a sense of danger coming from the projection. "We at the Court don't like our family being hurt, I'm sure you can understand."The projection looked up as Serenity walked past Sayo and grabbed the drone. "Ah, want to handle this yourself?" The projection smiled as Serenity turned it off.

As the projection faded Serenity turned around. "Here's the deal, you stay out of my head from now on and we get along just fine." She was quite blunt but she seemed to have regained her emotions. She took off her right gauntlet and set it on the table, her hand was covered in burns probably from where the glove had begun to spark. "Tch." Serenity made a noise before bringing her eyes back up to Sayo's. "Also, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been sneaking up on you, sometimes I get a bit to carried away. I apologize." She turned her head away from Sayo in anger at herself, she had let herself get so out of control.

Sayo jumped and spun her head to the new voice in the room. It was a sophisticated projection on a women. Sayo lowered her hands back as she watched the women talked to her assailant. The women was some kind of guardian to the the girl and judging from the words ‘first day’ the girl was a new student. She breathed when the girl disable the device, her wall was a small price for her safety.

She cringe when the projection walked through her. She didn’t turn to face the women but had her eyes back on the girl-no, Serenity. Her roommate. Kami, really?

Ah, theres the second threat of the day as she picked up on the women underlying meaning. Honestly, wasn’t she the victim here? Thankful Serenity turned off the projection before the women started making real threats.

"Here's the deal, you stay out of my head from now on and we get along just fine."

She almost laughed, What kind of deal is that? Pathetically one sided. She quickly composed herself when Serenity looked back at her. It wouldn’t do to antagonize her. Her apology didn’t sound sincere but she saw truth in them that the younger girl had no ill intention at the beginning. But there were repercussions, her powers were uncovered. She had no intention of apologizing herself but she didn’t want to have a bad relationship with her future roommate.

“I did went a bit far.” Sayo admitted, grudgingly. It was as close she’ll get to a apology, any more and she rather choke on her own blood. I’m not letting you go that easily, Serenity. “And I have my conditions too: don’t kill me and...call me senpai. Yoroshiku ne, Serenity-chan.”

She liked being called senpai and it’s a good way to remind the girl whose the superior one. Though the second condition was more compensation. Ideally if she was getting a roommate, she wanted to experiment her powers on her. Today’s event proved that she needed to practice but it was impossible with Serenity, not because of the deal but because she knew about Sayo’s abilities. “Ah, let’s not mention this embarrassing event to anyone.” Especially about my powers.

My powers being uncovered. Angering some unknown an organization. I’ll have to look up on ‘the Court’. Anything else missing? Her phone buzzed, it was the movers. Oh that's right, adding that to the things I hate about today. She texted them her room number and turned off her phone. “My stuff is on the way, which room is yours? I’ll take the other one.”

"I'm not going to kill you." Serenity spoke bluntly, she had really let herself screw up big time. Letting herself be known as someone who was potentially a killer, Serenity frowned all the work she had put into trying to get the best ending for everyone and it collapsed in a single day. That was frustrating, she had to train herself further if that was all that it took to push her over the edge.

When Sayo also asked to be called senpai Serenity shrugged, honorifics were something she didn't really care that much about outside of jobs. "Alright." She nodded, stroking this girl's pride wasn't a huge problem for her after what she had just done. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Sayo-Senpai, properly of course." Serenity spoke as she made a small bow, hopefully the girl would be able to forgive her and they'd be able to get along. It would be very bad if they ended up in a big argument, especially since they had to room together.

Serenity reached into her luggage case bringing out a roll of bandages, she began to wrap them around her hand wincing in pain. On the plus side she found out today that her roommate had some powers over emotions and persuasion and how much temporal energy Finality could expel if it ended early. "Fine, I can understand that." Serenity spoke as Sayo stated that the event shouldn't be mentioned again. Serenity felt that Sayo didn't like her abilities being public knowledge which was understandable if not a bit overly secretive.

"I'll take that one." Serenity spoke as she gestured towards the room near the kitchen, she had no personal preference but she wasn't about to go and start tossing the situation between each other. "Unless you have any preference yourself?" Serenity posed the question towards Sayo.

Sighing Serenity locked eyes with Sayo, she wouldn't be trusted until she properly explained the situation. After all Bishop came in and threatened her roommate, she would at least have to explain that. "Look, I know you are probably curious about who that was, if you have any questions feel free." Serenity spoke as she fixed up her hair and clothes which had become a bit messy due to her breakdown. "I have nothing to hide."

“No, I’ll take the other bedroom then.” Sayo was a little disappointed, she was hoping for a little resistance from Serenity especially on the second condition. Her new roommate looked worn down and she couldn’t help but feel slightly guilty after she seeing Serenity bandaged her injured hand. This instantly annoyed her, why should she feel guilty? It wasn’t her fault. Are sure about that? You did pushed her to the corner. You hurt her. A small reasoning voice inside of Sayo pointed out.

"Look, I know you are probably curious about who that was, if you have any questions feel free."

Well, that’s convenient. Judging from Serenity response, The Court is probably not a secretive group unlike the disclosed organizations that many of the students associative themselves with.

"I have nothing to hide."

“Fine, who was that women? I’m guessing a guardian.” Sayo inquired.“She mentioned family though I have a feeling it’s not through blood. The Court, an institution? Society? What is your role do you play?”

There was a knock on the door and she walked over to answer it. Signing she opened the door, what horrible timing. Sayo greeted the movers and pointed to her new room, “Put it in that room, hurry.”

She kept the door opened as three employees each carrying two larges boxes swiftly entered and made their way toward the room she pointed out. Much to Sayo’s amusement, they paid no attention to the hole on the wall and was professional. Once all the boxes was placed in her room, they bowed and quickly left since she’d already paid them ahead of time. Closing the door, Sayo turned her attention back her roomate.

OOC: I'm going to be gone for three days so you can TOTALLY take you're time posting.

As expected as soon as she gave Sayo free reign to question her Serenity was bombarded with questions. They were all the predictable who are you, what do you do kind of questions that she got from people. Surprisingly though there was a lack of how do you know me, Serenity assumed that was because she was used to being known due to being the daughter of an influential company.

Waiting for the builders to leave for no other reason then to make sure that Sayo was distracted she sighed. What had she gotten herself into from her little joke, this situation had turned quite sour indeed.

When the last builder left Serenity stood back up. "Alright, to begin with that woman was my superior, we call her Bishop." She was always a bit more carefree then Serenity, often she would find had stayed in her office overnight playing games, definetly more carefree then Serenity. "You are correct, while we aren't related by blood we are related by misfortune and talent one could say." She wasn't the only one in The Court that had a traumatic past, almost all of them did some were more open about it then others and some preferred to keep it to themselves.

"It's an agency, we take any kind of job thats offered to us given that the pay is good and the agent assigned to the case agrees to take it. Different agents can take jobs that other agents denied but it doesn't happen often." After all even the members of The Court had to eat and the big question, what her own role in the agency was. "I'm a Knight of the Court, as you can probably tell the positions are based off of the pieces of a chess board." Serenity explained as she moved the drone back into her luggage case, even though it had saved her there she'd have to get rid of it.

"Our agents in training are called Pawns, then we have the trainers which are the Rooks, the active agents which are the Knights, the handlers which are the Bishops and the heads of the organization, the king and queen." Serenity explained, even she hadn't met the king and queen and when asked by Bishop she was shrugged off. From the sounds of it they were just simply financial backers but Serenity wasn't wishing to test that theory. "Is that all?" Serenity asked inquisitively, she was expecting some different questions but if that was what Sayo wanted to ask then she wouldn't argue.

“No.” Sayo shook her head, now that she understand the basics she can ask the question she needed to know. It was no mystery how they know her identity, probably a background check on Serenity’s new roommates (that being her) and Sayo wasn’t hard to find. She wasn’t that popular to be instantly recognized but her name and face was on the internet, news and magazines. It wasn’t so much of how they knew but what were they going to do with it. “The Court, is that your official name? How many members are there? Are you only situated in Japan or in other countries as well?”

She’d just pushed one of their members to the edge of insanity and judging how the Bishop lady didn’t like that she should probably get an idea of what she’s might have been possible up against. She moved to the living room chair and sat down the sofa. She waved her hand, motioning Serenity to sit as well.

“What is your mission statement? Vision statement? I’m talking about the agency, it is a business, right?” It was a settle way of asking The Court’s goal and how far are they willing to do for a good pay. The key word was ‘pay’ and if it’s what she’s thinking is correct then today won’t be so bad after all. “You said pay, are you talking about money? And by anybody, can I hire you?”

Money is a good currency but so are people, combine them together and it’s the perfect resource. She didn’t come to this school to just learn but to make connects. Sure there probably multitude of agencies will to any jobs for a good pay but it would be much more reassuring to hire someone she know. Even if that someone tried to kill her, well she did that for sure. “What ways that device on your hand? What would it have done you fired?”

The girl was basically wanting her to give away all the information regarding The Court, considering Bishop threatened her she could understand that. After all if some big and mysterious organization she'd never heard of threatened her she'd do everything in her power to find out about it and how much danger she was in.

"The Court is the agency's official name, as for the statistics I don't know exactly how many members there are but there is at least over one hundred active agents, not including other staff and no we take missions from whoever offers them." She explained what she knew, while there was more then one hundred active agents most of them were split into groups of about 20, she knew all the agents in her cell and knew a fair few of the ones outside of her cell but there were still some she hadn't met yet.

Following Sayo over to the living room she sat down on the sofa as well taking a few moments to collect her thoughts as Sayo asked her next question. "Yes, it is a business." Serenity explained promptly. "And I don't get informed about the business side so I have no clue what our mission statement would be, I just follow the orders given to me and take any job that interests me." She smirked, some of those jobs hadn't interested her truth be told and she simply picked them to make ends meet but that was irrelevant.

"Money isn't the only currency in the world, but The Court does deal in it." Serenity explained as she began following Sayo's train of thought. "If there is something else of equal value whether that is a magical artifact or a priceless piece of jewelry, The Court will also deal with those. She thought about how strange some of the payments she had gotten were. Thankfully The Court allowed the agents to trade in the non currency for currency, that was often a lot more helpful. "And yes, you can hire me" Serenity spoke her smirk growing. "If I choose to accept the job that is." Chances are as long as it wasn't anything to preposterous she would be willing to accept, but there were some really shady jobs that had been offered to her before. Apart from the obvious prostitution jobs that she had instantly declined to the point that Bishop didn't even bother bringing them up anymore there had been some other grizzly jobs that she refused.

Then she questioned her about her gloves and what would've happened had she not stopped. "These." Serenity spoke as she lifted up her gauntlets that she had bought over with her. "Are my weapons of choice when I'm active on a mission, the gauntlets themselves are quite useful but they aren't the source of my powers and why I'm here." Serenity spoke as she pressed a button on her right gauntlet, the one which had been wildly sparking earlier. A small panel opened up and grabbing a chain she lifted up the object sitting inside. It was a pocket watch, it seemed ordinary no matter how you looked at it.

"This allows me to control the energy left over by time's passage, temporal energy if you will." Serenity spoke thinking of how to explain it easily, while she had no doubt Sayo was intelligent, the subject matter was confusing by nature. "What I was doing was gathering and condensing the energy around us, this would give it a physical form and when fired at you would not only deliver an extremely potent concussive force but it would most likely also burn you with temporal radiation of sorts." It really wasn't that strong but it could still be very dangerous.

"Obviously, mortals like us normally can't see the energy in question but I got gifted the ability to see it from a spirit of time who gave me this ability as well." Serenity frowned as she remembered the reason the pocket watch came into her possession in the first place, she still made no headway on that case ironically enough. That was probably for the best though, if she went back to try and get revenge it would make her life shallow and empty.

"Still am not sure if the price was worth it though." Serenity spoke somberly as her mind flashed back to that night. It was a traumatic experience but it was also the death of her old self and the birth of her current self, she wondered if it was all really worth it. "Getting back on point though, you can hire me but as always you have to deal with my handler." Serenity spoke as the frown disappeared from her face. Bishop wasn't an idiot, she wouldn't turn down a job just because of her personal feelings.

Sayo curiously took note as how Serenity’s expression changed on the topic of the pocketwatch. It seemed to obtain her power, she had to make a big sacrifice. Was it fortune, maybe status or heritage? It must have been devastating so Sayo decided not to ask.

“How much money do clients usually pay? The average range.” Sayo debated on testing to see if it could actually be done. She didn’t have anything that need external resources to solve the problem but she could think of a few things she could hire Serenity to do. Though that would depend on the price, whether if the money was worth a little experiment. “What jobs do you usually do?”

Sayo leaned back and dwelled on what Serenity said about the gloves and what could have happened to her if things played out differently. As her mind process the information she just received, Sayo text two contacts on her phone. One was a mechanic company for the hole in her new dorm room. The other was a pastry deliver service, being on the verge of death can make a person famish and food in the fridge wouldn’t hurt. “Are you hungry? I ordered some cake.”
