Okay, were there any seekers after her? Nope, good.

Any demons or supernatural beings? Nope, good.

Any thugs that were trying to mug her? Nope, good.

It seemed like the first time in a long time Dawn was going to have a completely normal day with no interruptions. This was long overdue, every other time that she had tried to go out and do something, someone had interrupted her with the intent to kidnap, murder or mug her.

Thinking about it like that Hyakuji was actually a pretty dangerous place really, true that the kidnappers were after her because of her circumstances but the demons and muggers were regular occurrences in Hyakuji. Dawn sighed as she thought about it like that, bringing a smile to her face however she remembered that today would be a nice calm none interrupted day from the looks of it.

Deciding that she had to take advantage of the day Dawn had gone to the park, she didn't really have a goal in mind and decided just to see what would end up happening. Maybe she'd just go for a walk, maybe she'd change her mind and go to the mall. Though remembering how the last trip went that wasn't exactly likely. "Well, time to enjoy the normality of today." Dawn spoke clearly and cheerfully, for most it was a strange statement. For Dawn it was definetly her feelings of the day.

"Let's try this again..." Under the shade of a nearby tree was Misora sat down in a wariza position, the half-zombie dressed in a short-sleeved black off-shoulder top over a lacy black camisole and a frilly black layered skirt that ended a few inches above her knees, with coffee-and-cream striped thighhighs and brown Mary Janes. "All right... it's emotes... or bust..." Misora remarked, trying her best to sound determined, but still ended up coming across as a deadpan.

Setting her bag on the ground next to her, the copper-haired girl would proceed to retrieve her phone, and a large, folded-up sheet of paper that displayed a list of facial expressions. Spreading out the sheet in front of her, Misora would spend a few moments scrutinizing every expression, before holding up her phone and setting up the camera to take selfies; since that encounter with Lady Saigyouji in the dream realm, she'd become more determined than ever to train herself to emote like a normal human, having been thoroughly convinced that despite being semi-undead, she possessed a heart that was all too human!

"That's what I see all the time..." the half-zombie remarked in her monotone as she studied the "expressionless" face. "First off... smiling..." Misora droned as she mimicked the expression on the chart, while taking a snapshot with her phone's camera.

"Ha... I think I'm getting the hang of this..." the half-zombie murmured as she compared her selfie to the expression on the chart, the copper-haired girl managing to put on a smile on her own this time around.

"Hmm?" Dawn glanced over at Misora, she seemed somewhat familiar but Dawn couldn't quite put her finger on it. She swore that she had seen the girl from somewhere but where, Dawn was wagering that it was somewhere at Hyakuji. She hadn't met a large amount of people over her time at Hyakuji but it was still large enough that asking her to remember a single person would be a challenge of itself.

Suddenly the pieces fell into the puzzle, she had met her a very long time ago in the cemetery. What was it again? "Oh yes, your the half zombie girl who was in the cemetery." Dawn spoke aloud before realizing what she just said, that situation could've been handled a lot better but in the spur of the moment of remembering Dawn just spoke without thinking.

"Ah, sorry I didn't mean to offend." She quickly doubled back on her words offering an apologetic smile. She somewhat remembered that the girl had put up an argument against being called a zombie. The memories were still somewhat vague but hey, maybe this was the chance to properly converse in a place that wasn't a graveyard.

Misora's smile quickly faded as she noticed the girl who approached her - or rather the girl's choice of words - while the half-zombie never managed to get the other girl's name, she was pretty good at remembering faces, and she recalled this particular girl was the one she'd met a long time ago, back at the cemetery... and apparently still as insensitive as ever, although back then Misora didn't make an issue out of it due to the two girls needing to work together against a bizarre, otherworldly threat.

The half-zombie's countenance dropped, taking on the expression of annoyance, until the other girl apologized. "And none taken..." came Misora's monotonous reply, the half-zombie sensing the other girl's sincerity. The copper-haired girl nodding to indicate that the other girl's apology was accepted - thanks to being rather limited in her ability to convey her emotions via her tone of voice and facial expressions, Misora had learned to compensate somewhat by being rather articulate with her body language.

"Sorry that we didn't quite get off on the right foot back then though..." the half-zombie interjected. "Serves me right for not giving my name... ha..." Misora tried to give a self-deprecating laugh as she sheepishly patted the back of her own head. "The name's Fujioka... Fujioka Misora... transferred to Hyakuji High when I was halfway through my first semester Shoei Girls..." the half-zombie hauled herself back onto her feet in order to acknowledge the other girl with a bow. Hopefully, now that the other girl has gotten her name, perhaps she would be kind enough to formally introduce herself too, and would have something else to address Misora by other than "zombie girl".

The girl seemed a bit annoyed with Dawn, which was understandable. She seemed to have hit the nail on the head about her not like being referenced as a zombie girl. Dawn really messed up, however she seemed to calm down about it and forgive her in a somewhat roundabout way. Smiling Dawn nodded as the girl spoke about the previous situation before introducing herself.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Dawn." Dawn smiled at the girl giving a small bow of her own, she seemed willing to put it as water under the bridge which was good. Having people be annoyed at her would end up being troublesome.

"I transferred to Hyakuji during my second year. Have to say it's somewhat different after you spend a while here." She gave a smile as she laughed. "Apologies about the incident at the cemetery." Dawn gave an apologetic bow. "Practicing faces?" Dawn inquired, she remembered that the girl wasn't very emotional for lack of a better word. Dawn was under the assumption that this was due to her being part zombie, however for all she knew it could be an entirely different reason.

"Ah... well-met... Dawn-san..." Misora replied with a bow, using her body language to display her pleasure at making a new acquaintance. Now that the other girl had introduced herself it turned out she wasn't a bad person at all. "And yes... practicing something that humans take for granted..." the half-zombie remarked - at least embarrassment was something that she was capable of displaying as she turned her head away briefly, her light complexion visibly flushing a faint shade of rose.

"Back in Tokyo... my schoolmates all think I have no sense of humor because I don't laugh or smile when they joke..." Misora remarked as she studied the facial expression chart. "And then there are those who think it's okay to make jokes at my expense... because they think I am incapable of feeling hurt because they never see me appear angry or cry..." the half-zombie hung her head, her arms dropping limply by her side.

"It wasn't an easy life... with everybody thinking that I am like a zombie... incapable of emotion..." Misora droned as she slumped back down into a sitting position. At least as far as the half-zombie was concerned, the assumption that she was like an unfeeling machine often diminished the empathy that her peers had towards her. "That's why I transferred here... I thought with all these people and their amazing powers being gathered here... I might find a way to become more... normal... what about you then... Dawn-san..." If there was one thing that Misora had learned, it was that nearly everyone that came to Hyakuji had interesting stories to tell.

Dawn's smile faded as Misora turned away embarrassed. While she had some experience with masking her emotions, Dawn herself had never lacked the ability to display them. It would be a strange feeling, Dawn disliked the idea of that. Being able to show emotions was a distinctly human thing, lacking that capacity she was surprised the schoolmates didn't treat her like an animal. She had experienced first hand after all the depravity of some human beings.

Listening to Misora's story, Dawn's fists clenched. How could people be so cruel, she herself had experience with that but not to the level of emotional damage that it sounded like Misora had went through. "People can sure be cruel." Dawn dryly spoke. It was people like Misora's schoolmates and like her own father that made her wonder how the world was considered a good place. "Selfish, arrogant jerks the whole lot of them then." Dawn spoke with anger in her voice, she didn't like it when people flat out mistreated others.

"Honestly, I ran away from home more or less." Dawn spoke, by this point in her time at Hyakuji she didn't mind sharing her history with people. Unlike when she first arrived she realized that most people were more then willing listeners. "My father treated me like a trophy, took all sense of individuality and freedom which I had and tried to beat them out of me until I was nothing more then something he could put on display." She spoke with anger present in her voice. "And as if that wasn't enough he kidnapped my mother in an attempt to force me to go back to him." There was clear rage in Dawn's face and tone of voice but she forced herself to calm down.

"I thought this place would be an escape from my father's influence but it doesn't work like that unfortunately." It was very clear that this wasn't the Dawn that Misora had met previously, she didn't have an energetic and enthusiastic vibe around her of wanting to enjoy life. Finally taking a breath to calm herself down she sat down and gestured for Misora to do the same. "So, how are you going with it then?" Dawn inquired in regards to the practicing of displaying emotions. "I might be able to assist, I spend a lot of time faking some emotions." She didn't even try to hide it. Besides it could possibly assist Misora and that was good enough.

"It's good to know there are people who cared..." A hint of a smile lit up on Misora's face as Dawn seemed rather upset over the way the half-zombie had been treated - or rather, mistreated - by her peers. "And it seems like there are a lot more of such people here..."

Her smile quickly faded as the other girl began to share her tale with Misora of how she'd ran away from home because of her possessive, overbearing father. Was it little wonder then, that Dawn was so enraged by abusive behavior, because she too was a victim herself? "That's terrible... Dawn-san... nobody deserves to go through any of this..." And Misora thought she had it rough; at least for all the mistreatment she received from her peers, her parents were the ones who stood by her side through it all.

"I... I think I'm managing smiles pretty well..." the half-zombie replied, managing to put on a smile as she looked away again, feeling a little self-conscious as the half-zombie was generally used to being ignored when she wasn't outright made fun of, so any overt interest in her affairs came as a rather alien experience to her. "But you said you'd been faking certain emotions...?" the half-zombie tilted her head as she looked at Dawn.

"Faking emotions...? I... supposed it's understandable given where you came from..." the other girl's experiences must've been painful to say the least, but to put on a feigned smile even when it hurts inside? Misora couldn't really understand how any normal person could go about their daily life like that, at least - unlike her case - by choice.

"But... doesn't that just makes things more painful for you... to go about your daily routine like that...?" the half-zombie wondered, her lack of worldly experience showing as she displayed confusion over how normal people could go about their day-to-day routine wearing a false face.

Dawn bought a small smile to her face as Misora did, it was nice that someone became more joyful after coming to Hyakuji. Even though she was the opposite, Dawn knew that it was a much better life then the one that would've happened if she stayed with her father. She hoped there would be a time that she would be able to smile genuinely without a worry in the world, however that time seemed far off considering recent events.

When Misora explained that she was managing to smile reasonably well giving Dawn an example she nodded, it did look like a smile for sure and a genuine one at that. When Misora asked about her faking emotions she was a bit taken aback, she forgot that Misora had trouble displaying her real emotions so the idea of faking them would be quite alien to her.

"Maybe." Dawn replied, she didn't really consider it. She mainly just put on a feigned smile to make sure that she didn't seem affected by the constant threats and stress she was under. It wouldn't do any good to get other people more involved in her own problems then they already were.

"I suppose I do it to try and be strong even if i'm upset." Dawn spoke quietly. "I think it's probably more hoping I'll fool myself into actually being happy." That was more like it. "Sometimes putting a smile on even if it isn't a real one helps for some reason." Dawn smiled up at Misora, it was strange the contrast that they held. A girl who took her emotions for granted and faked them and a girl who relished her emotions but had trouble showing them.

"Anyways, as you've seem to guessed using body language is a good method to display emotion if you have trouble displaying it." Dawn began her lesson about how to show emotions. "If you simply see someone bobbing or skipping along that invokes the image of happiness and enthusiasm." She explained picturing the situation in an imaginary thought bubble.

"For displaying emotions with your face you don't have to use your mouth all that much some times." Dawn explained as she ceased smiling but wasn't really frowning either, however she raised her eyebrows inquisitively and opened her eyes a bit wider then normal. "As you can see, a look of curiosity uses eyes and eyebrows more then the mouth, every single part of the face helps to create a visible emotion."

She was more then willing to just keep going on about a whole variety of different techniques but prior to that she looked at Misora again. "Can you follow? I get a bit overly excited when I start talking about something interesting." Dawn waited patiently for Misora to respond to her.

"I... I see your point..." Misora replied as Dawn explained why she would go about her day wearing a fake smile. And of course being well-acquainted with traditional Japanese thinking the half-zombie could see the gaijin's point of not dragging others into her personal problems. And to Misora's credit, for every person who made fun of her for having a frozen face, there were just as many who'd thought the half-zombie was far more stoic than she really was, being able to handle the most egregious of insults with a straight face.

"Body language... like walking gait... postures... and the works...?" the half-zombie wondered as Dawn got into the details of how body language played an important part in conveying emotion. "Hai... I think I have that pinned down... mostly... I think..." the copper haired girl drawled in response, nodding her head slowly, at least she was pretty adept at posturing and use of hand gestures... though unless she was running the half-zombie could never muster anything more than what looked like tired shuffling.

"I see... the way you say it... might be that the zombie part of me had no use for advanced motor functions... that might explain things..." Misora nodded again, her brows actually furrowing slightly, together with her lips pursed together tightly to convey a "deep thought" expression as the other girl explained how subtle movements of the eyebrows, eyelids and such also go into a human's range of facial expressions.

"But I guess the fact that part of me is human too means I still have the human capacity for fine control over motor abilities... never really seen an actual zombie before unlike my parents... but from the way the movies portray them it appears they don't have precise control or fine-tuning over the smaller muscle groups..." the half-zombie remarked, revealing that the girl understood human anatomy far more than she was presently letting on.

"But hai... I am following so far... I think..." Misora continued, nodding again to let Dawn know that she was getting it so far.

When Dawn witnessed Misora make a face that looked similar to deep thinking she smiled. It seemed like the girl could get it, if she could make one step forward then she could keep making one step forward until she got to the point where she was happy with her ability to display emotions.

When she explained the possible reason why it was like that Dawn looked inquisitively. "I'm not really an expert on biology and anatomy but that seems like it would make sense." She didn't know a lot about anatomy at all really, it was something that she never really found hugely interesting and also she never learned zombie anatomy because she didn't think it would even be relevant. Just went to show how strange Hyakuji really was.

"But aren't there some zombies portrayed in media that seem to be quite speedy and nimble?" Dawn questioned, it could just be a silly portrayal of zombies in those situations but it was something that made her curious. After all there was about an even split between the slow shuffling zombies and zombies that would just charge at people at ridiculous speed.

Dawn shook her head for a second, she was starting to get a bit off track. "Anyways, I'm not sure if i'll be echoing something that you've already been doing but." Dawn stopped for a moment to catch her breath. "It's always a good idea to practice in front of a mirror, especially with your chart there it would make it quite easy to practice different kinds of facial expressions." Dawn smiled, even though she still couldn't quite understand how it would be hard to convey emotions but she wanted to help Misora.

"It depends on the type of zombie in question... I think..." Misora replied as Dawn brought up how some media - particularly ever since that "28 Days Later" movie - has shown zombies to be rather nimble and quick on their feet. "At least for me... I don't think one that is actually a reanimated cadaver can move with the same speed or agility as they had in life... degradation of the brain and nerves will do this to a body... causing them to lose control over their motor functions... even more so if the body has been tampered with... such as embalming..." the half-zombie explained.

"The fast-moving zombies...? At least from the way media portrays them most of them seem to be still living humans in the biological sense... it's just that the virus or whatever has damaged the part of their brains responsible for higher thought processes such as the ability to perform technical and social skills... sense of self-identity... and emotional complexity... while involuntary functions such as fine control over their motor systems are more or less fully-preserved..." the half-zombie droned, resting a hand on her chin, her brows furrowed in deep thought. It was speculative for the most part - despite having had run-ins with the undead before, Misora hadn't really had the chance to study them; not that she had any interest in doing so, of course.

"I wouldn't know unless Mare-sensei is crazy enough to have us study the anatomy of undead creatures in Science Class of course... or would be that be more in the realm of Supernatural Studies...? I'm not so sure about that..." the half-zombie added, running her hand through her hair. "And I'm not sure if I want to keep talking about how to cut creatures open to examine their insides... especially considering that I feel like having lunch later..." Misora remarked, smiling sheepishly as she rubbed the back of her head to convey her awkwardness.

"Practicing in front of a mirror... huh... now why didn't I think of that..." Misora wondered as Dawn recommended practicing her expressions in front of a mirror, the half-zombie tilting her head to the right, a combination of bewilderment and disbelief written on her countenance. "It's a good practice... I agree... beats having to constantly refer to charts..." Misora continued, nodding her assent. "So... Dawn-san... thinking of going anywhere else later? Or would you like to join me for lunch... as soon as I scout out a good place at downtown nearby..."

Dawn nodded as she followed Misora's explanations, the girl really knew a lot about anatomy that was for sure. It was a very varied topic, at least the way that media seemed to portray the different kinds of zombies, she had to wonder if all the zombies were like Misora or if there actually were zombies that were as Misora said more mentally decayed then physically.

When she mentioned actually studying the anatomy of a zombie a small giggle escaped Dawn's lips. "That would be a bit messy and questionable." When Misora commented about lunch Dawn's stomach rumbled as if on queue, it seemed like she hadn't eaten for a while. Lunch was sounding like a tempting idea for herself as well. When Misora invited her along Dawn nodded. "I would be happy to tag along." She smiled, it seemed like she been able to remedy the bad first impression that she had given to the girl.

"Do you have any idea where you are going?" Dawn asked her inquisitvely, she had been downtown and there were lots of different kinds of places that served good food. Staying away from making any jokes about wondering which places served brains she waited for Misora's response. She was pretty much fine with anywhere, Dawn wasn't a picky eater herself.

"Me? I'm vegetarian... so that narrows down my options a little... also... I don't like spicy food so we can also strike Indian... Thai... or Mexican off the list..." Misora replied as Dawn asked the half-zombie whether she had any particular place in mind. "Normally I grab some fresh groceries and head back to the dorms to make my own meals... it's a good way to save money and practice what we learned during cooking class..." the copper-haired girl continued, nodding slightly and regarding Dawn with a smile as the other girl remarked that she'd be happy to tag along if the half-zombie decided to eat out.

"But I've enough groceries in the fridge to last me until the next weekend... maybe a bit less if I made extra portions for my friends when they drop by..." the copper-haired girl mused. "And besides... all the more reason to go eating out when with friends..." Misora continued, looking over her shoulder to see that Dawn was following her as she got up and put her stuff back into her bag, getting ready to leave the park.

"I suppose we could head over to that Café Mahou...? Never really understood the whole maid theme... but I heard that Tsukasa-sensei owns the establishment... and the prices are supposed to be pretty student-friendly..." Misora suggested. "At least their drinks and desserts were good... tried them a couple times... haven't tried the main course meals... but I suppose there's a first time for everything?" the half-zombie wondered.

(OOC: We could either start a new thread where they head downtown, or just end this one here on a high note and say the two girls had a blast in town.)

Listening to Misora pick out the specific foods that she wouldn't want Dawn was caught by surprise at learning that she was a vegetarian. Even though she doubted that Misora would be eating human flesh to learn that she didn't eat any meat was a bit of a surprise. Maybe it was due to all the stereotypes surrounding zombies that she made that decision, Dawn shook herself back to reality and nodded as Misora continued to speak.

Hearing Misora mention groceries she made a mental note to stock her own groceries up as well. She had to make sure that her own fridge at some point had enough food in it to last her. While she wasn't exactly a big eater she still had to eat and to do that she had to have a full fridge. Oh the joys of student life.

She got snapped back to reality by the idea of heading over to a maid themed cafe. After hearing that Dawn's eye's practically sparkled, it sounded like an amazing idea to her. She wasn't really into that kind of thing but she found it somewhat fascinating. "Yes." Dawn spoke, forgetting for a moment to elaborate on her sentence. "I-I mean, we should definetly go there. It sounds good." She smiled nervously, it did sound like an excellent idea. Especially if she wanted to make sure her relationship with Misora was completely fixed.

(OOC: I'm good with either, whatever you want to do is fine.)
