It had been a while since she had last been here but it felt like an eternity, a soft wind brushed past her waving the grass around her feet. She was here for a somewhat similar reason compared to her last visit but this time it was a little different. Whilst it was her trying to get stronger as she did last time it was in the eyes of a predator and not the prey that she had been previously. The forest seemed unnaturally empty which irritated her, she couldn't get used to her experience the other day to strengthen herself if there wasn't chances for it to occur again. "We've been told that there were supposed to be creatures here, where are they?" The girl turned around looking at her surroundings, it was then that it dawned on her. She was lost "Surely it was back this way." The girl said as she began to walk in the direction she expected Hyakuji to be in. Half an hour later and a lot more dirty then when she entered the forest her form slumped down with her back to a nearby tree. "How did I get lost so easily?" She sighed while questioning herself, the fact that she got so easily lost was nothing short of embarrassing. |

Another nice day meant another jog for Artemis, this time making her through the forest on her way to the falls since she rarely ever visits the location. What's the sense of knowing a location if you've never been there? That was Artemis' logic, finding it so she can say she's actually been there. The temptation of using her powers to simply fly there were quite strong, but she knew it wouldn't be the same if she managed to find it so easily. Making her way through the woods, Artemis'd jump over a brush here and there and taking alternate routes due to some obstruction from fallen trees or some overgrowth. Of course in doing this, she became lost. It took her a bit to realize she was lost, using her psychokinesis to mark trees whenever she'd pass certain turns. "Welp, I'm going in circles," Artemis said to herself, "Guess I'm gonna have to cheat." Just as she was about to go up, she heard the sound of someone else in the woods. She quickly quieted herself in order to hear if she was either hearing things or if there was someone actually out there. Turns out it really was someone, Artemis hovering lightly off of the ground so she wouldn't make any noise as she approached the person. Whoever it was, they'd be seeing a girl floating towards them from behind a tree. "Oh, looks like I'm not the only one out here," Artemis said, landing once confirmed it was a person and not some creature luring her to her doom. |

"Huh?" Dawn questioned as she looked up, a hovering person. On the positive side she seemed friendly enough and not someone that wanted to eat Dawn's soul. "Oh, another student that's good. I was worried I was going to be lost." She smiled as she looked towards the girl. It was a real concern, granted she had come out here to 'harden up' as it were and to make herself more accustomed to reality, still she didn't cherish the thought of being lost in the forest overnight. Who knew what kind of creatures came out in this place at night. "You do know where we are right?" Dawn asked in a hopeful tone, then again the girl had just displayed the previous ability to hover so that was always a plus. After all she could just go above the canopy and find out where they were. Even out here she had to rely on other's help, it was a pitiable sight really. Dawn mentally scowled at herself for her helplessness. |

Artemis gave Dawn a thumbs up and smile when she was glad to see another student, Artemis seeming like a light of hope. She had hoped to be on her way to the falls but instead she stumbled upon another student who seemed lost, though Artemis was in the same situation now. After having been asked if she knew where they were, Artemis thought for a second, "Uh, not really, no." Artemis shrugged, laughing a little. "I was on my way to the falls but got lost apparently. What are you out here for?" Artemis asked as she fixed her shorts, Artemis meaning to fix them once she made it to the falls but now would be best. Artemis enjoyed her runs all over the place, even to places that'd cause her to get lost like now. Normally she'd teleport out with her shadow powers but this time she could simply go up. After asking however, she began to forget that they were lost and became more interested in what someone was doing out in the forest. |

A sigh of defeat escaped Dawn's lips as she heard that the Artemis didn't know where they were either. The only positive thing in this situation was that she could apparently hover which hopefully would give them the ability to pinpoint where they were comparatively to Hyakuji. "Huh?" Dawn hastily replied as she was asked why she was out here. "O-oh, no reason really." She spoke quickly, after all explaining that she was trying to harden herself up to kill her father would be a bit hard to convince the other girl was a sane thought. It would be much better to just try and pass it off as nothing and if that didn't work then just explain that she was trying to get stronger. "H-how about you then? I don't know many people who go to the falls." Dawn spoke trying to get the conversation off of herself. She was also quite curious as to why Artemis was there herself. This served to solve both aspects quite easily. |

Artemis grinned when the young girl said she was out here for no reason, knowing that was a horrible lie. She wouldn't press further if the girl didn't want to say, no need unless of course something terrible might happen because she didn't ask. Oh well, it's not like the rest of Hyakuji can't take care of a situation, as if they haven't before. Plus, the girl didn't look like someone who'd cause any danger, at least not intentionally. "No reason, huh?" Artemis question, feeling like she had to ask now since there wasn't much out here anyways. The question then jumped to Artemis, questioning her about going to the falls. Unlike her, Artemis didn't have anything to hide since she really was just going to the falls for the sake of going to the falls. "I just wanted to visit it. I've never been there but I've known it was there. Kinda like an adventure. Is that what you're doing out here, adventuring?" Artemis asked, smiling a bit. "We gotta be careful though because if we go deeper in, we'll get even more lost and there's also strong creatures in there too. Or so I've heard." |

She seemed to have either bought the lie or decided not to pursue the subject, that worked out for Dawn. She gave a nervous smile, thankfully the bullet seemed to be dodged for now at least which would make her situation much easier. "Y-yeah, more or less that." Dawn replied, it was somewhat true that she was here to adventure in a way so it wasn't exactly a lie. "Really? I've heard a bit about that as well." She had heard about some of the strange creatures that could be found really deep in the forest, she wasn't entirely sure how dangerous the area was but she also didn't want to find out how dangerous it was really. "Maybe we should be a bit careful then." Dawn commented a bit nervously, she really didn't want to wonder towards something that was that dangerous. "I could try to climb one of these and find out where we are." The situation would probably be easier if Artemis was to just hover up but she could at least offer to help in the situation to see how it went. |

"Then that means the rumors might be true," Artemis said, pointing her index finger towards her, "So yeah, it's definitely best we stay clear of that portion of the woods." Even though Artemis was quite confident in her abilities, she'd rather not put herself in a situation where she'd become overwhelmed. The last time she was overwhelmed it almost turned into something else, and this was downtown! Artemis looked to the girl, suggesting she could climb the tree to find out their location. "Oh!" Artemis said suddenly before she started climbing, "I can just fly up and look. I forgot to mention and got sidetracked." Artemis nervously giggled, scratching the back of her head as she began levitating up towards the canopy and looking around for the school. She came back down and landed next to her, pointing in the general direction of the school. "It's over there!" Artemis said, looking towards the location and then looking back to her while still pointing, smiling and giving her a thumbs up with the other hand. Something then came to mind, Artemis putting her hand down and looking to the girl. "I don't even know your name," Artemis said, "You go to the high school, right?" She then extended her hand to the girl, awaiting a hand shake. "I'm Artemis Anova; psychokinesist" |

"Ah, alright." Dawn spoke as Artemis suggested that she fly up to look. While she was levitating upwards Dawn wondered if it was okay to stick around, she might end up divulging why she was here which could be bad. Unfortunately it seemed that she was really Dawn's only way out of there. "That's good then." Dawn smiled as Artemis floated back down indicating where Hyakuji was. "We should probably start heading there then." Dawn spoke as she began to walk, in the direction. Artemis then introduced herself causing Dawn to stop for a second and turn around, smiling she responded. "It's nice to meet you Artemis, I'm Dawn." While she didn't think that introducing herself was a bad thing, shortly afterwards she realized that this just gave her more information in case she divulged her reasons for being in the forest. Unfortunately if she just stopped there it would look even more suspicious. "I'm a mage." Dawn smiled, she wasn't an amazing mage by any strecth but she was reasonably skilled at least. "Have you been at Hyakuji for long?" Dawn asked to keep the conversation going and off of the reasoning for her being there. |

"Yeah, I don't wanna be in the forest too long either. Maybe next time I'm gonna have to just fly to the falls instead. Kinda wanted to run there but oh well." Artemis said, shrugging as she began walking in the direction she previously pointed out. Since this was a complicated forest, Artemis had to receive the benefit of the doubt since she earnestly wanted to reach the falls by foot but it couldn't be helped. "Ah, Dawn! What an interesting name. I hadn't heard it before as a name. Pretty neat!" Artemis giggled as she walked alongside Dawn. She'd continue to listen to her as she spoke, Dawn telling Artemis that she was a mage and Artemis smiling. "Even more neater; a mage named Dawn!" Artemis simply thought it was funny for no apparent reason, grinning once she realized she was laughing. She was then asked if she had been in Hyakuji long, Artemis nodding. "If you consider two years long, then yeah. Halfway through Hyakuji high actually. Once I'm done with high school, I wanna be a cop or something. It seems right for me." Artemis said, clenching her fist in front of her and smiling with determination in her eyes. She then looked to her and put her hand down, "How about you? I haven't seen you around but that happens a lot due to the number of students that come and go, not to mention the people that work in the city." |

"Eh?" Dawn uttered in surprise, she really didn't think that her name or her abilities were 'neat'. Especially compared to most of Hyakuji her abilities were rather stock standard if anything. Also hearing that she had been at Hyakuji for two years she looked stunned. "Really?" She was a bit taken aback, she herself had been around Hyakuji for about the same amount of time and she had never really seen her before. "I've been around for roughly the same amount of time actually." Dawn smiled as she spoke. "Must just have not been at the right place at the right time." She let a small giggle out. "It is a bit odd that people who have been here haven't met before." Dawn wondered if that was indeed the case, especially considering that most of the students lived on campus it was rather suprising. As they continued walking towards Hyakuji, Dawn suddenly fell over to the ground. "Ow." Looking down she noticed that a vine had encircled around her ankle. "Errrr. I think we might be in some trouble." As her eyes followed the vine they eventually rested upon a strange being. Several vines flew towards Artemis intent on snaring her as well. |

"I guess when they say 'small world', they're not taking Hyakuji into consideration," Artemis said jokingly, "Of course, Hyakuji isn't all that big either. Either way, it's nice to meet someone new, even two years later." Artemis smiled to Dawn, continuing at a normal pace along side her. Hyakuji definitely held surprises, especially when it came to people since someone always has a different story tagged with them. "So are you a second year too?" Artemis asked, looking to her as she walked, "You seem about the same age as me so I'm kinda guessing." Once Dawn fell, Artemis stopped and looked to her, offering her a hand back up. "You alright?" Artemis asked, Dawn informing Artemis that they were in trouble. Artemis looked down at whatever she was looking at, seeing her ankle caught up by some vines. She began following it to its source to find a plant-like creature that was attacking her. Artemis started to back up, tripping herself up in the process and falling to the ground only to get ensnared as well. "Remember those creatures I was talking about? This is one of them!" |

"Couldn't have guessed that." Dawn spoke sarcastically, she knew that letting herself get further ensnared would just end up in a bad situation. Thinking quickly she conjured several crystal shards that flew towards the vines ensnaring her and Artemis down. The Shards severed the vines from them, the severed parts suddenly lost all strength and the creature roared in pain. "What do you think?" Dawn posed a question to her companion as she stood back up. "Should we fight it, or should we run?" Dawn summoned several more crystal shards just in case it tried to attack them again, the shards would stay floating in mid air until she commanded them to fly towards the enemy. Either way Dawn would go along side it but if they just ran away from it now, who knows who else could fall prey to it. It could also be quite strong though, it was a situation where both options held merit. Artemis would have to respond pretty fast though because the plant seemed to be unfurling more vines from within its body. |

"Thanks!" Artemis said, getting up and taking some steps back and watching Dawn ready up some more crystals that were used to free them. Dawn then asked her opinion on what they should do; run or fight? "Well, we fought one like this before in cooking class once, I think and it took a good amount of us but I don't think this one is nearly as big," Artemis said, looking to her. "Can't we climb some trees and pick it off from there?" Artemis looked for the nearest tree, pointing to one once she found a suitable one. It was a while since she had last fought something here in the forest, that cooking class Artemis was talking having happened quite some time ago. "So I guess we're doing both!" Artemis shouted, making her way to the nearest tree to get some height. Really, Artemis could have flown up there but the moment was too chaotic to even think straight. |

"Sounds like a good idea." Dawn commented as she sent her crystal shards on standby towards the approaching vines severing them. As the plant was roaring in more pain Dawn began to climb up a nearby tree. Managing to climb up to a particularly thick branch Dawn rested on it as she panted, while she was pretty fit it took a reasonable amount of effort to climb a tree and it showed with her exhaustion. The vines of the plant seemed to stop seeking out the two, it was almost as if it couldn't find them anymore. The vines moved around the ground wrapping themselves around trees and rocks. Stretching out a net of vines over the ground. "Can it not see us?" Dawn questioned. Artemis mentioned that she had fought something similar in cooking class, leaving the fact that they fought such a creature in cooking class of all places Dawn gave way to Artemis to explain the strange behavior from the creature. |
