To say that Ethan was slightly panicked would be an understatement. Demons boarding a supposedly safe airship in order to possibly capture his friend, or do other nefarious deeds, would do that to a person. Even the knight's suspicious levels of protection over him ranked low on the list of concerns, though not too low. Pulling all that together, Ethan was led to one really unwanted conclusion, and he forced himself to say the following words.

"...While typically going to... safe places would be... dangerous, I think it would be... best to stay... with you. Furthermore... I might be able to learn something through that. So, I am...in...your care Miss... um..."

Ethan took a moment to search through his memories before realizing he didn't have that particular tidbit.

"Um, excuse me, what is your name Miss?"

After realizing the potential danger coming very soon, the boy rummaged around his bag and found a bottle of holy water, some salt, and a cross. Keeping them in immediate reaching distance, he then reached into his memories for any lessons he had with demons.

'Searching....searching...pulling up articles on demons...narrowing data to recognized features...searching...searching...'

Whether or not he would find much data is questionable, but every possible note helps.

-----------------Outside-----------------

Izumi’s Master Spark drew the attention of everyone outside, demon and human alike. A little over a score of demons on the outside were unlucky enough to be caught in the blast and were incinerated instantly. Unfortunately they weren’t the only ones who were there, and three Vængrs, knights that appear to be using the same summoned wings that Sophia did, were also vaporized by the attack.

The remaining Vængr, about a dozen in number, watched as their comrades fell to friendly fire, but acknowledged it as a necessary sacrifice. After all they now had a powerful mage on their side. They converged on the Ordinary Magician and formed ranks around him to protect him from the horde.

Needless to say the demons didn’t take too kindly to this new threat, and immediately regrouped into one giant mass. “…They’re going to overwhelm us with sheer numbers.” A grim voice came from a knight beside Izumi, her face hidden by a full plate helmet. “All units pull together! Form a shield wall around the mage!”

Even as Izumi continued to fire into the mass of demons, they hardly seemed to notice. Can’t blame them though, what’s a few dozen losses when you have hundreds in your army? Soon after the entire mass charged at the thirteen humans, aiming to sweep them away in one massive wave!

-----------------Observation dome-----------------

As Jonny rushed back into the observation dome, he would find that it was actually empty of demons. But what he would find was Selene bracing herself against the wall grasping the bleeding stump of her left arm which had been sheared off at the elbow. “J…Jonny? Wha… what are you d…doing back here…?” Her voice was hoarse and ragged, and her face was covered in cuts. “Did y…you tell the K…Knightmaster?”

Before Jonny could reply, the screeching of jet engines sounded once more and Selene forced herself back on her feet. “Just two more… J…just two more…” Sure enough the two interceptors came in for another attack run, the first of the pair launching its last missile at the front of the ship!

“V…Ventus!” A burst of wind shot out of Selene’s remaining hand and struck the missile, causing it to veer off course and explode harmlessly some distance away. The fighters flew by overhead once more and prepared yet another run. This time however, they broke off from each other, one coming from the left and the other from the right.

Selene stumbled but managed to keep her footing, mumbling some spell under her breath. But unlike the first time, there was no concentration of magic on the young woman. “N…no… not at a time like this…” She tried again, but with the same result. With the enemies approaching fast she was out of time and grabbed Jonny, desperation clear in her eyes. “Their g…guns won’t do much damage to the ship, but th…the missiles can breach the hull. Y…you have to stop the last one… If they breach the bridge it’s o…over…” With that final warning her eyes glazed over and she slumped to the deck.

Looking at the two fighters, Jonny would see that the one still armed with a missile was making a beeline for the front of the ship, presumably where the bridge is. As for the other, it was heading straight for the observation dome. Even if its auto-cannon can’t pierce the hull, it was more than enough to cut through the exposed Selene’s armour.

At this rate, it looks like Jonny only had time to interfere with one fighter … What will he do?

-----------------Sophia’s Cell-----------------

Following Izumi’s rainbow beam attack, both sides were left in a daze. Fortunately the knights were able to recover before the imps did and quickly dispatched of the survivors alongside Heleth’s stabbing hair. Finally given a few moments to rest, the knights carried their dead to one side of the room while the wounded were given battlefield treatment where possible. Reinforcements sent by Sigrún came in from the stairway to the chapel, but their priority was securing the breach as opposed to tending to the wounded.

While Izumi did clear out the room and buy them some time, he also enlarged the breach in the hull. While the initial breach had been barely enough for a human to slide past, they would now have no trouble at all. Unfortunately that also applied to non-humans, so larger, stronger demons would now be able to enter the ship.

Speaking of the devil…

A clawed hand latched onto the edge of the breach, and a gargoyle-like demon stepped into the breach. It was quickly set upon by one of the knights, who in turn was pulled out the breach by several more gargoyles and thrown off the ship. More and more of the creatures stepped in until there were well over two score of them inside, outnumbering the knights two to one.

Looks like not all of the demons went after Izumi and the Vængr…

-----------------The Corridors-----------------

Ethan’s guard raised an eyebrow at Ethan’s question. “Marini. Antonella Marini. And you are Ethan Jones, correct? Selene told us about you and Sophia’s other friends before you came on board. Come on, we still have some distance to cover before we reach the bridge.” She ushered Ethan along as she kept a watchful eye on their surroundings. It doesn’t look as if any of the demons have made it this deep into the ship, and the trip went more or less smoothly.

Upon reaching the bridge however, the peaceful calm was replaced by an air of tension and urgency.

Roughly thirty knights stood at various points of the bridge while crew members were shouting at each other and making reports to Knightmaster Sigrún who stood at the center of it all with her unwavering expression. “Only a quarter of the Vængr remain, and they report that they have the Hyakujian mage with them! The demons are massing for an attack!”

“The containment room has been breached! Reports indicate there are over forty hostiles on board!”

“I…incoming missile!”

The glass viewport at the front of the bridge showed a missile flying right at them, but as the various crewmembers took cover, it suddenly veered off course and exploded far from its target. Sigrún however, never moved from her spot and merely nodded. “Selene is doing her duty well. Order the Vængr to renter the ship via the breach in the containment room. Strike the invaders from behind.”

As the Knightmaster’s orders were carried out, Antonella walked up to her with Ethan behind her and kneeled. “Reporting in Knightmaster.”

“You’re the last one then, Marini? Join the others on watch du…” Sigrún paused briefly as she saw that Ethan was present as well and glared at the boy. “…What is he doing here?”

“My apologies Knightmaster, I decided that it would be safer for him to be here than it would be if he was in his room.”

“Hmph. Very well, just make sure he doesn’t get in the crew’s way.”

Antonella bowed and got to her feet, pulling Ethan away from Sigrún as the Knightmaster returned her attention to the battle at hand. “Just stay close to me, okay Ethan? I’ll keep you safe.”

"Curses!"
Heleth's shout was filled with a worried tone. What could possibly justify such a powerful assault?
Her heart was pounding to the point she could feel it pulsing in her neck.

The demon's hair was extended like claws around her, an attempt to maintain some distance between her light body and those strong claws. It was too easy to be flung out of that large gap where the open sky never looked so threatening.

Her eyes ran at some metal pipes in a corner of the room, opposite to the hull breach.
The girl ran in that direction and threw a strand to grab it for safety.

A gargoyle grabbed one of her strands and pulled it in its direction. Heleth simply let her hair grow to offset the pull, and had the strand bend around the arm of the monster and piercing it in its neck.
A second strand grabbed an ankle and threw its owner off balance.
The third strand was suddenly cut off by a set of sharp claws.

Heleth gasped in surprise, and retreated the first strand back, leaving the dying gargoyle to focus on the one that severed her hair, stabbing it in the back.
At the same time she began to regrow the third strand.

"They're too many!" her control on her hair was impressive, but it was clear she could not handle so many enemies, despite the support of those Vængr.

...Well.

"I-I-" Jonny had not come back expecting this, by any means. Certainly not to find a friend so heavily injured in so short a time he'd been gone. Had that... been because of the missiles?
Before Jonny could ask - or really, even answer Selene on the very questions she herself had asked - the roar of jet engines drew in once more. His head turned, finding the source of the sounds as Selene forced herself to her feet. One fired a missile, which the valkyrie countered with a burst of wind from her other limb. But whilst that stopped the immediate threat, there was still another jet, with another missile, and everything else going on. And Selene, oh poor Selene, she knew that. Made it clear as she suddenly grabbed Jonny, and pleaded with him to protect the ship...

But as she then fell, her body would not hit the ground. It would instead, be caught, on in a small burst of red, its most dangerous wounds - particularly the stumped arm - covered by makeshift bandages. Fabric strands of red would now cover her body, whilst Jonny's was now exposed to the cold winds of the air at such an incredible height.
"Don't worry." Laying her down, as he knew he did not have the time to take her off in search of a doctor, Jonny hoped that what he did was enough to sustain her till someone else came. If noone else did, then he would have words with her knightmaster. And she would listen, for he was the champion of the gods who sat on high Olympus, and he would not be so ignored.

But first, those jets.

There was no way, at first glance, for him to somehow lash out at one, and then rush back to try and counter the other. These were aircraft that moved as fast as him, after all, so in the time it would take him to make his move, both would already be moving themselves. And in either case, pulling a trigger took just a single second to do, so once either jet was in range, the pilots - whether living, dead, or demonic - would have more than free reign to do what they wished. The only way out of this then... was to deal with one but ignore the other... Take down both at the same time... Or make it so that the threat of one no longer mattered.

Recollection hit him, and Jonny drew from his pocket a small, elegant brush. Turning, he quickly dipped it in the blood of the poor girl who was laid down on the floor, muttering a small apology. And as the fighter behind him might be just considering to pull that trigger, as he knew it might do, it might find its target... enveloped, as Jonny drew an arc around the girl. An arc that would fill out into a bubble, one stronger than any metal, and yet would pop at the lightest touch from within. A bubble that would heal, and try to restore that which was lost. Such was the power of the kamigami brush, which as Jonny finished his crude 'art', exploded in his hands. But Selene would be safe, and as he raced away, leaping from the observation dome, he cared not for the jet with no missile.

For that one that did still hold its missile, as Jonny crashed upon the deck of the ship, it met his fierce glare. A glare that would extremely fast find itself all too close to even the cockpit of the craft, as Jonny stepped forward, then ran, and then leapt from the bowsprit of the ship, the pointed tip serving as a ramp...
From which he planned to kick a jet at supersonic speed.

Now, whoever said he's going to take on all of them by himself? That's just silly and dumb, and the Ordinary Magician is not silly and dumb enough to go on a suicide rush.

So instead, the moment he's very sure he's caught the demons attention, "Don't engage them, just follow my lead!" The Ordinary Magician yelled out to the winged knights accompanying him, as he continued to seemingly fly right at the horde of demons...!

The little mini-Hakkero was tossed back over his shoulder, dropping and magically aligning itself to the rear of the broom.

"JET SPAAARK!!!"

Once again the familiar powerful blast of magical energy erupted violently from the little magical nuclear reactor, rocketing the broom and its rider forward in a mad headlong rush right into the center of the horde of demons and breaking through them like a multicolored comet! Hopefully the very fact that the demons are being rushed at by a little high speed rainbow flaming magician with a trail of highly destructive raw magical energy behind him would get him their attention.

No doubt at that point they should start chasing after him. Bonus point if the flying knights could catch up, the more threatening he looked the better.

Ethan was somewhat assured when Antonella said she'd keep him safe. After all, this was coming from a person who was probably Sophia's friend and a knight; so overall very trustworthy. However, that assurance took a nose dive when he was 'greeted' by the Knightmaster. In fact, his current estimated chance of survival was at 44% and dropping.

'Don't think about it, don't think about it,' He thought to himself desperately. 'Don't think about it. Just stay close to Miss Marini and stay out of everyone's way. Don't think about it. 42% Don't think about it. 41% Gosh darn it.'

Unfortunately, staying calm under a demonic assault was rather difficult to do, especially for someone like Ethan. Eventually the stress made him dangerously close to throwing up.

'Don't throw up, don't throw up, don't throw up! There are way too many reasons why I should not throw up right now! I...I need to think about something. I need to keep myself busy. Keep busy. Be productive. Keep busy. Be productive. 23% Gagahgh'

In desperation, the boy drank a bottle of holy water, which was surprisingly tasty, to calm his nerves and to possibly avoid a drastic bowl movement. When he was sure that the threat of bile was gone, he started to go over what he had read in the library in order to calm himself down even more. However, due to the noise, he couldn't quite concentrate on what he had just read.

'...I'm sure whispering wouldn't hurt.'

Doing his best to stay unnoticed, the boy started murmuring out he had just read, with small fraction being audible.

"...Holy Valkyrian Order...chief God Odin... Valkyrie ...contract.... Asgard... Demonic Wars ...Mistress Herfjötur ... Einherjar.... future attacks.... Iscariot Order... smaller ... status quo....

"... Sanngriðr serves Odin ...bloodlust ...singlehandedly ... scythe ... red ...absolute ... loyalty ... All Father ...unquestioningly...."

---------------------Outside, the Vængr’s situation---------------------

“Wha… hey wait!!” The knight that had spoken to Izumi earlier reached out to stop the Ordinary Magician, but was too late. “Kuh… Everyone after him!” Despite their orders to return to the ship, they could hardly leave Izumi out here on his own, could they?

Izumi’s attack cut a hole into the demon horde and his rocket speed granted him safe passage through, but the same could not be said for the dozen knights that flew after him. It didn’t take long for the demons to recover from the initial shock of Izumi’s blinding attack, and they too realized that most of their numbers couldn’t keep up with the Ordinary Magician. So instead they set upon the remaining Vængr while a detachment of smaller, faster demons went after Izumi.

The knights fought valiantly, taking down dozens of the demons, but there were simply too many to fight and they were cut down one by one. “F…fall back! Retreat to the sh… ARRGGHHHH!!!”

That final scream could be heard by all, and then they were silent.

---------------------Outside, near the observation dome---------------------

The MiG-29 that targeted Selene saw Jonny erect his strange bubble, but dismissed it as unimportant and opened fire. Auto-cannon fire smashed against the shell but couldn’t even leave the slightest scratch. Bewildered and confused, the pilot broke off his attack run and veered away before he crashed. It would seem that Selene would be safe from external attacks… for now.

As for the other fighter, Jonny’s supersonic kick slammed into its wing and knocked it off course. At this distance the speedster would be able to get a good look at the pilot… who looked surprisingly normal. The only thing that might seem off about him was some sort of black aura around his body. Whatever Jonny decided to do with that information, if anything, would have to wait as the jet started spinning out of control.

Things only got worse as the first fighter doubled back and started shooting at Jonny with no regards for its ally. A few auto-cannon rounds glanced off the plating around Jonny, but none of them would be on target thanks to the unpredictable spinning of the out of control plane. There was no telling how long this would last however, a lucky shot to the jet’s fuel tank or missile would surely cause a sizeable explosion.

And then there was the demons chasing after Izumi. The forty odd demons that followed the Ordinary Magician saw their jets crippled and otherwise out of action, and ten of their number broke off to engage Jonny while the rest of them continued chasing their prey.

…Somehow the demons going towards Jonny didn’t seem that interested in the speedster… What were they after?

---------------------On the Bridge---------------------

“… We lost contact with the Vængr…” The operator that reported the news didn’t need to say any more. The message was clear. Sigrún and the crew went silent for a moment, honouring their sacrifice. “We will mourn them later. For now, we have a battle to tend to.”

Everyone nodded in agreement and returned to their duties, as did Antonella. Ethan’s guard didn’t really have much to do seeing how the bridge was secure for now thanks to Jonny’s efforts. The woman looked over to her charge and saw that he was muttering something and kneeled down next to him in concern. “Ethan? Is something the matter?”

When she heard his words, her eyes widened and she approached Sigrún. “Knightmaster Sigrún!”

The Knightmaster didn’t even look back at her subordinate, keeping her eyes on the battle in the sky. “Speak Marini.”

“What if we borrowed the power of Sanngriðr?”

This time Sigrún did turn around. “… Explain yourself.”

“Ethan reminded me of something. Sanngriðr may be a lover of carnage, but her loyalty to Odin cannot be questioned. If we release her… she should be willing to side with us against the enemy seeing how we both serve the All-Father.”

“And how does the boy know of this?”

“He was at the library when I found him Knightmaster. I suspect he may have been reading the codex.” Antonella took a deep breath. “I know it’s a risk… but with all due respect, we don’t really have a choice.”

A long silence followed as everyone in the room looked between Antonella and Ethan. It is true that over half the garrison had already fallen in action, but would it really justify unleashing a bloodthirsty war goddess? After what seemed like an enternity… “…Lower the Iron Veil. We will place our faith in the All Father.”

---------------------Sophia’s Cell---------------------

The battle raged on with casualties high on both sides. There were more of the demons dead, but with every one of their numbers struck down two more seemed to come in from the breach. Without the Vængr to keep the enemy in check, the horde outside was free to invade the ship at leisure.

Heleth’s efforts were certainly of great help, the red demon fought like half a dozen soldiers with her living hair. But as she said there were simply too many of them. It was only a matter of time for the room was overrun, and the ship will soon follow.

Without warning the steel walls around Sophia’s cell retracted back into the floor, leaving only the runed glass between Sophia and the demons. The girl in question looked shocked to be suddenly face to face with dozens of demons, but worse still was the sight of her fallen comrades and the injuries of those that were still standing.

At the sight of their quarry, the nearest demons grinned and slammed on the glass with their weapons, leaving small cracks in the glass. Sophia didn’t flinch however, and stood grim faced even as the pounding continued and the cracks grew into a spider web like pattern.

A single shard of glass fell to the floor, and Sophia lowered her head as a smirk crept onto her lips.

Well that... didn't work out at all as he just realized when he decided to take a look behind him...

It was hardly what he wanted to happen at all. They hardly paid any attention to them and their attentions are deathly affixed to either the straggling flying knights or the flying fortress itself. Only some figured that he was a threat enough to warrant chasing, but that's... That's not good dammit, that's horrible...!

The fact that he had just brought the Valkyries to their death just by telling them to follow him is going to haunt him the entire time he is on the air.

He can't stop though. He shouldn't stop, his survival instinct is telling him to keep moving because there are still some that are hellbent on making sure he joins the fallen knights. Unlike some other high-speed moving person, his isn't going to be able to sustain itself for much longer. In fact the Ordinary Magician himself, to his horror, could feel a rapid drop in the thrust the mini-Hakkero is giving out, causing a loss in speed which would inevitably lead to the demons quickly regaining traction in their pursuit.

Crap... crap crapcrapcrapcrapcrap.

That guy... that guy, fly to that guy! "HEY- GRAB IT!!" The Ordinary Magician yelled out as he made a beeline straight to the downed jet fighter, extending his hand out for the red superspeedster to catch! What's next would be a wild swerve around to slingshot the superspeedster to... the other jet fighter, the demons still chasing after him, whichever- CRACK!!!

It was an extremely unlucky, one-in-a-million shot. A stray bullet fired from the remaining fighter struck squarely on the broom, breaking it into halves and splinters.

Heleth was losing ground fast. She was forced to move back a step at a time if she wanted to keep the little advantage her hair gave her to be shielded from attacks.
The demoness latest step hit one wall. She was cornered.

"Nnrgh!"
A claw ripped through the tissues of her shirt leaving a deep scratch on her left arm. A normal human would certainly be deprived of his arm after such an attack.
Heleth's back hit the wall.
Two strands moved to dispatch the closest enemy, now dangerously close to her.

Wind roaring through the breach, clashing of weapons and beastly roars. Those noises weren't strong enough to hide the sound of the metal barriers surrounding Sophia's cage sliding open.

Her eyes, as well as those of the demons that were there exactly for the sole purpose of reaching the Vice President ran on her.
They suddenly ignored her, turning their attention to Sophia.

"No!" Heleth roared, as she stabbed the closest demon through the chest, and advanced to grab another one by his ankle and dragging it on the ground.
She finished it with a vertical slash on his neck as she was about to take on a third one.

The glass filled itself with cracks as the mazikins slammed into it.

There, it was too late. Heleth realized that from the grin that appeared on Sophia's face.

So yeah, Jonny just kicked a fighter jet.

With only an instant to feel so damned proud about himself for that, Jonny immediately thereafter found himself clinging for dear life upon the very same jet. Not that he couldn't necessarily survive the fall, mind you, but he also wasn't sure he would - having never tested his abilities from such a height as this - and wasn't all too keen on trying to figure out how to get back up to the ship if he did. And considering the circumstances, he really didn't want to get too far from the ship. So, his hands were against the edge of the very wing he'd struck, thankful that the wind wouldn't be so much of an issue for someone like him...

Though as he took the chance to glance across at the cockpit, he found his eyes widening. The pilot was... human, from the looks of it - and if they weren't, then what was the point of keeping the disguise? They had just fired on a valkyrie ship for crying out loud, and they had-
Wait. Jonny narrowed his gaze, trying to make sure he wasn't imaging things. And as nothing seemed to change or clear, he had to guess that the black aura he saw was indeed there, and auras meant energy. Either internally generated - for example, someone releasing power, which seemed not to be the case - or externally cloaked - for example, someone subject to a power, which...
Made a lot of sense. And might mean that these pilots were being subject to the controls of the demon horde - or whoever controlled them. Would explain how demons got their hands on jets.

On the other hand, knowing that information didn't do him much good. Because even if he had enough of a grip - just - not to be flung off by the spinning jet, its spinning meant he could hardly get in enough of a run to go anywhere else, and the other fighter was now shooting it own ally to get to him. Keeping his head low - whenever he was actually upright, and thus able to even duck - Jonny managed to avoid several shots, but the more worrying concern, he realised with his hair billowing about, was that the jet he was on hadn't. The jet that was spinning out of control, was still loaded with a missile, and given it was still up in the air, probably still had fuel to burn. Great, just gre-

"HEY- GRAB IT!!"

Suddenly, a hand was extended, and whilst the jet still managed to spin once, Jonny actually managed to use its momentum to, as he let go, throw himself towards that outreaching arm. Briefly, they connected, a thankful smile rising on the boy speedster's face.
"Izumi, tha-!" But before he was done, Jonny suddenly found himself thrown, flying towards an oncoming enemy, just as the still active fighter managed to plug a shot right into Izumi's broomstick. Horror spread wide across Jonny's face, his hand now trying to stretch back to catch the one that had caught his just moment's ago. But he couldn't, for his arm was not long enough, and the distance only drew greater with each second. He tried to scream, but he wasn't sure if even managed it above the sound of everything else...

But something else might. A great red glow that moved to flow from his fingers, and shot forth towards Izumi. A power that would only last so long, split between the two of them, but it might just protect him from the fall, if not give him a means to fight back, should the demons be so foolish as to try and finish off their 'prey'. For the power Jonny gave Izumi now was his own, as had been granted to him by the god Hermes. Speed unlike any man's, with the perceptions and protections that came with. For the next several minutes, Izumi was going to be one of the fastest men alive.

And with that in mind, Jonny turned himself, still in the momentum of Izumi's toss, and looking towards the ten demons that were in his path. He'd probably kick the first one, just to get himself some footing that he could then grab onto. If and when he had that one though? Even as he tried avoiding getting bitten or whatever the first might do, the rest, should they get close, were going to feel what it was like to get punched. And kicked. At almost twice the speed of sound.

While Antonella was speaking with Sigrún, Ethan was a bit busy trying not to throw up, panic, and faint, in that order. So he relied on doing what he was doing, going over the information he had learned. Though listening in on this rather important conversation would be something to consider.

"...Outposts...eight...European..."

'Something important is occurring at the moment.'

"...Knightmasters...sixteen...total..."

'They're doing something important, something to take note of.'

"...Orders...Asgard...relayed... Cannonesses...absolute..."

'Really should be paying attention to this.'

"...given...obeyed...without question..."

'Oh for the love of whatever I believe in. They're talking about releasing Sanngriðr right now!'

"Rank...Mistress...Cannonesses...Knight--wait, what?"

The boy finally noticed the rather concerning decision to have Sanngriðr help them. Unfortunately, he really didn't have enough time to voice any complaints. Feeling the chances of something horrifically wrong going up through the roof, Ethan made another decision he would put in the "regret forever" pile.

"Miss Marini, I really do not think that is a good idea, considering the track record of that sort of thing." He said as he tapped her on her shoulder. "But...I guess we were running out of options. Though... now that we are doing this, I have a small favor to ask."

He braced himself for what he was about to say next.

"I would like to get as close to Sophia as possible, and possibly bringing along as many as her friends along the way, it might help calm her down in the worst case scenario." He considered their current state of affairs. "We at the very least need the magician, if possible. Can you help me with this?"

-------------------Outside-------------------

As Izumi’s mini-Hakkero lost power, his pursuers soon caught up to him and joined in the assault on the two Hyakujians. They saw Jonny do something to the Ordinary Magician, but didn’t worry too much about it and instead trusted in their numerical advantages. After all, there were forty demons against two young men, surely the victor was predetermined.

With Izumi’s broom broken, they knew he was stranded in the air, but instead of letting him fall to his death a pair of demons made to grab him from either side. The vicious looks on their faces made it clear that they weren’t doing this to save him, they wanted revenge for the mage’s little trick earlier that denied them the chance to slaughter the Valkyrie Knights.

Meanwhile Jonny’s kick would land squarely on his targeted demon’s chest, and he would feel its ribs breaking under the impact. The remaining nine demons fanned out and gave the speedster a wide berth as they continued towards the out of control fighter. Two of their numbers pried the missile loose while the others tried to stabilize it. With the missile in their possession, the demons made their way back to the airship with the intention of dropping it on the airship. As for the fighters, the pilot of the out of control MiG ejected to safety while the other flew in escort of the bomb-carrying demons.

That didn’t mean Jonny would be completely ignored however, Izumi’s pursuers split up into two groups of fifteen and flocked around the two Hyakujians. Like with the Ordinary Magician, the demons would try to restrain Jonny, targeting his legs instead due to his superhuman speed.

-------------------Sophia’s Cell-------------------

Sophia’s little smirk went unnoticed by the demons pounding on the glass, but like Heleth, the other Valkyrie knights knew what was about to happen. One of their numbers grabbed Heleth and pulled her towards the stairs. “Everyone fall back! We have to lea…”

CRACK

The entire room fell silent at the sound of glass breaking. Looking over to the cell, everyone would see that the demon had broken through, and his arm was now half in half outside of the glass cell. With a feral grin he pulled his arm back to complete his job.

BOOM!!

A massive explosion of magical energy rocked the entire ship as Sophia’s cell exploded outwards, sending glass shards flying all over like guillotines. Some of the knights and demons were fast enough to duck low, but those that remained standing were either sliced in half or impaled by the glass. The knight that had grabbed Heleth hadn’t been so lucky, and she fell on top the red demon with a large shard of glass stuck in her back.

As the survivors of both sides struggled to recover, a colossal scythe flew out of the dust and sliced into a demon that was picking itself up off the floor. The demon screeched out in pain as a tall figure emerged and pried the scythe out with a sickening squelch.

“Mmm… they make a satisfying scream, don’t you think?”

“It’s nice of you to have a welcoming feast for me, but I do worry about the competence of the Order if demons were able to defile their ships.” Sanngriðr licked her lips as she twirled her scythe. “Well since you did go to the trouble… I suppose I’ll indulge myself~”

The next thing anyone would know Sanngriðr had disappeared, but reappeared near the breach about a second later. Almost in unison, all the demons on board let out a muffled whimper as their life fluids poured from their throats and collapsed to the ground. The Valkyrie took a deep breath and purred, watching the demons’ blood rain down upon her and everything else in the room. “Delicious. A pity they fell so easily though.”

Something piqued her attention outside and she looked out. “Well, hopefully killing enough of them will make up for how easy this is.” Sanngriðr didn’t even look back and leapt out of the ship to wreck more carnage on the horde outside, leaving whatever knights that were still living to look on in shock and awe.

-------------------The bridge-------------------

The entire ship shook more violently than when the missiles struck, and the crew looked at each other with apprehensive hope in their eyes. “… It is done. Sanngriðr is free.” Sigrún spoke the words that were on everyone’s minds. Now the question is, will the bloodthirsty Valkyrie prove to be their salvation, or their doom?

The silence was broken by Ethan’s quiet voice, and Antonella looked over to Sigrún, silently asking her what she thought about his request. “There is no Sophia anymore, boy.” The Knightmaster slowly turned her head to look at Ethan with cold eyes. Despite her grim voice, the slightest trace of remorse could be heard if one paid enough attention. “Unless Sanngriðr releases her grip on her, the Sophia we know is lost forever.”

She sighed and looked away. “We are not safe yet. There’s no telling what Sanngriðr will do once she is finished with the horde outside. Marini, take the remaining knights and bring back the mage and the Olympian. If you encounter Sanngriðr, stay away and…”

WHAM!

Without warning a demon slammed against the bridge viewport, leaving small cracks in the glass. Sigrún and her knights instantly drew their weapons in case more of them were there, but somehow that didn’t seem to be the case. The demon was deathly still and some reddish liquid was oozing out of its head. A moment later, it slid off the glass like road kill, revealing a grinning Sanngriðr hovering a short distance away.

“Oh? I didn’t expect to see you here boy.” She flew closer until her face was less than an inch away from the glass and stared straight at Ethan. “No hard feelings from last time I hope.”

Ethan took a moment to scream internally. It was a very typical reaction of meeting anything life threatening. After he was done with that, some amount of reason managed to stay behind, telling him that there was a very low chance of actually dying from the woman on the other side of the glass. In fact, turning things around, it could be said that this was the best chance for him to stay alive. Now that he had a positive train of thought, the boy worked up enough energy to write back a reply on a whiteboard he carried.

[Hello Miss Valkyrie, it is good to see that you are doing well. No hard feelings at all, as long as you keep the beheading to a minimum thank you.

I hope you are having fun out there, but I do hope that you don't go too overboard, we would like to question them about their attack.

Also, may I ask how long you will be staying with us, and when Sophia might return?]

As Ethan wrote and showed Sanngriðr his message, he slowly made his way behind Antonella and the rest. Every little inch between death counts after all.

One does not simply eat one packet of mee goreng
Well. Let's get things in order first since his mind is a bit numb at the moment.

He was on a flying ship. Just minutes ago, talking to Sophia.

And then they were attacked, by jet fighters and so many demons too.

He flew out... for something. He was pretty sure he had some kind of a plan but he can't remember what it was. Or if he even had a plan in the first place.

It didn't work and it just kind of ended up being a high speed cat and mouse chase.

His broom broke. Somehow. It happened well before he could figure out what happened, and by the time he realized it he was already falling, seeing one broken half of his broom way up above him, and holding the other broken half in his hand.

...Oh huh, he is falling isn't he. How high had they been the whole time? He couldn't tell since they had been in a ship and he hadn't gone outside to see.

Man, falling from this height has got to hurt. It's probably a bit too late to tell himself that being a hero is just not worth it. Especially when he's just going to die here without accomplishing anything in the end. Whether it be from the fall or from the two demons going after him, probably to finish him off.

Everything seemed so slow. Is this how the world feels like, when you know the end is coming? His mind is so clear too for some reason. Like he can think of so many things in such a short amount of time. If things were actually moving this slow he could probably figure out how to get out of this little pickle. He doesn't really know how, maybe hitch a ride on one of the demon probably.

Actually maybe he could do that? That would be a pretty crafty way to escape.

Dammit you guys are too slow. Get down here already, he'll hit the ground first if they're that.. slow.

...Slow.

He wasn't sure if he's hallucinating it, but he's seeing the other half of his broom suddenly flying into view. Not the one he's holding, no, the other half that he thought was lost.

It literally flew into sight and jammed it's broken and jagged stick into one of the approaching demon's eye.

...Actually holy crap, did it really do that? His reaction was somewhat delayed, but the surprise was enough to shake him out of his stupor. To an extent. He retraced the situation in his head, this time at ten times the speed. Demons attacked. He was flying. His broom got shot down and now he's falling. Demons trying to catch him but one of them got stabbed by the broken flying broom that still had some fight left in it. The other one was still after him. He's still falling.

He has to do something... something something something something....!

The demon is moving incredibly slow. He can see openings everywhere that he feels... that he knows he could reach, faster than it could react to...!

STAB!!!

With the speed which led to the force that was far, far more than he could have expected himself to be able to deliver, the Ordinary Magician used the broken piece of broom that he still held in his hand and jammed the jagged, splintered end straight through the demon's torso! That's probably not going to be enough to kill it, but it doesn't matter, because for as long as he held on tight...!

The Ordinary Magician is going to force it to fly... as best as it could, back to the flying fortress!

Heleth was too surprised by what was going on to react, when a knight pulled her away toward the stairs.
That gesture possibly saved Heleth's life, or at the very least protected her from a very nasty injury.
Unfortunately, that action proved to be fatal to the woman.
Shards exploded everywhere, and a large, sharp slab stabbed the woman in place of the demon.

Heleth turned only to see the shocked face of the knight as life was escaping her body and falling on Heleth.
Her dual layered eyes widened. Her arms attempted to grab that falling body, but the weight dragged her down. Her hair also moved, in a struggle to maintain balance and the woman.

Despite her effort, the short demon was pushed on the ground.
Curses! Curses! Curse you Sanngriðr!
The dual layered eyes stared in shock at the dying eyes of the knight that saved her.
Heleth heard her talking. That vile being took control on Sophia's body once again and she couldn't do anything about it.
That monster just killed indiscriminately friends and enemies alike to display her power. Just like a stupid Mazikin.
Just like a stupid Mazikin!

Heleth breathed heavily. A stupid, stupid human died in her place under supposed friendly fire.
The demon stared at the dead woman just as the Valkyrie took off.
"I'll make her regret what she has done to you."

Heleth grinned her teeth and used her arms and hair to cast aside the corpse.
She stood up nervously, and began to head toward the ship bridge. There was nothing else she could do in that destroyed hull.
"Curses..."
