The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)
|
The sword instantly changed back to Excalibur's humanoid form, which jumped onto Shad's hat as soon as he received the message, a bit perplexed by the information. 'Hmm? Wait, what? This guy is part of the military? I was under the impression he was one of the Masters or something like that. Thank you for the heads up, Ms Makoto. But please get a medical team to help out that blonde twin-pigtailed girl that he shot rather cruelly. As for 'eliminating', do we happen to have dossiers on them yet, including information on their personal weaknesses and finances?' He thought to her, turning his back on the weirdo, his eyes narrowed with fierce killing desire. "It seems that my superiors have given you a stay of life. I'd suggest you keep it by leaving here immediately and no longer harm that lady, as she doesn't need to be treated that way. Understood? Otherwise, military or not, you will not get a second chance at hurting her with me around." |

I don't want to set the world on fire~ "...I may be too attached to this world to see it be destroyed." These two sentiments rang out over the mindlink rather loudly, along with a rather loud...snapping sound, almost as if chains were shattering apart. ""THEN WE NEED TO FULFILL OUR DUTY TO PROTECT EVERYONE! Why must you strive for your own self destruction?! Why is it that you must satisfy that, and thus, satisfy your master's wishes?! "I'm not going to beat around the bushes... Instead of being our destroyer, how about you become our protector instead...?" Protect? The creature seemed to give this some thought, as it were, certainly not taking any further steps forward or attacking again. That was when it howled out in mental agony. Fate's attack was...working. And more disturbingly, so was Ami's. Even if it was just a ball point pen, for some reason it was working, as it impaled one of the eyes that Fate hate missed, shattering it and causing a black goo to leak from what remained. PAIN WEAKNESS SUCCESS The beast certainly reeled back after that, but kept stable footing, the blade limb now properly retracting into the beast, as it's two arms reformed and covered the bleeding optics, which closed shut. All I am is Duty. Nothing more, no choice. If you wish to see your world safe, continue as you do. Give no quarter If any weakness is shown All will perish |

Natsumi heard something over the mind-link - something snapped. Had the masters been convinced? Had they found a way to stop the monster? She looked back, once more. She looked back, and she saw the monster pause. She saw the monster reeling. She saw Hyakuzor. Hyakuzor, risen from the ashes. As Natsumi ran towards a certain rooftop, even though she still had nothing important to say or do, she felt something new stirring in her chest. There had been despair. Enough to stop her, enough to almost break her. She wasn't important to this fight, even if she had broken and run for good, even if there had been anywhere to run to. She didn't matter. Not in the grand scheme of things. But she knew that she wasn't the only one to see what was happening; she wasn't the only one who felt this way. The tide was turning. Now, she felt hope. |

Anger. Fear. Pain. An emotion that Fate tried to always suppress and hide. An emotion that had been corrupting her mind since she met the Colonel and an emotion she could only have around the Colonel. Only with his assistance could they reach this fever pitch. And with that, the power of her ‘emotions’ surfaced. While lightning covered her surface, the power of ‘nothing’ encroached her heart. These attacks weren’t just guided by the negative emotions that have driven her to become berserk, these were driven by everything. Happiness. Hope. Aspiration. Fate’s body seemed to temporarily dissolve from it’s shadowy form, reforming a short distance away from the world-eater itself. However, her body had not returned to normal. The physical manifestations of anger and hate started to purge from her body. Numerous spikes and nail-like protrusions covered her body. While at the very core of this beast remained a human body, she was quickly starting to resemble something much different. This was the form of her emotions. Her body had succumbed to the physical form of her despair. Because of her fear, her pain, and her anger, she could not keep herself in control. If they could not stop it, it would end the world. Fate had not been capable of thinking about it until she had been shot. When the pain finally set in, she could feel true hopelessness. When creations of sanity run out of hope, they stop functioning. They will lay down and let themselves die like the worthless dolls they are. Without ‘hope’, without the feeling that their actions will accomplish something, they will not move. The instant someone gives up on hope, they give up on life itself. Yet Fate would not stop. Even if her mind had stopped wishing for a happy end, the despair that clouded her body moved her hand. Fate’s attacks weren’t even in desperation, as ‘desperation’ implies hope itself. They were filled with nothing; nothing but her unending conviction that this tale had already reached its end. Fate’s now-monstrous hand reached up into the sky, starting to form numerous swords around her body once more. These unending blades were all driven by Fate’s emotional state. They were all the tiniest daggers one could imagine, and they would continuously fire forward like a rain of arrows on an ancient battlefield. Was she still hurting her opponent? Had she ever done damage in the first place? She couldn’t tell- as a beast can’t tell when it simply hurts another. They truly understand when their enemy succumbs, and the mighty world-eater was clearly not. These momentarily flashes of weakness did not create any hope, hope that would make this insanity-driven onslaught falter. Only were it brought to it’s knees, would Fate finally feel hope. The blades would stop. Instead, a black sphere would form above her hand. One that grew and grew. It would swallow up light itself as it’s mass remained slowly, but ever-extending. Only when it had finally reached it’s full size, a massive orb the size of a car, would it shift. It became a single, pure blade. A blade the size of a truck. Even though it was a mere nail in front of the massive entity that stood in front of her. It was a mere pick opposed to he that ends worlds, but within it sheltered a special power. The power to turn despair into hope. |

The androids guarding Hiro picked up the haemonculi approaching and quickly formed a defensive parameter around the teacher, shielding him from any attack with their bodies. Eva didn’t know why the haemonculi weren’t attacking, maybe Lenny was having second thoughts about betraying the defenders. While she would like to believe that was the case, there was too much at stake to leave these things to chance, so she ordered Hiro’s bodyguards to open fire on the flying Dart haemonculi. Elsewhere it seemed like whatever Hiro was doing had failed. Radio chatter from the her troops who were part in the telepathic link indicated that negotiations had broken down after someone had attacked, and hurt, the monster while it was considering Hiro’s request. Eva wondered who would do such a thing, but was nonetheless glad to see that the monster can be hurt after all. It didn’t seem like it was a conventional weapon though, so Eva remained focused on her task of evacuating the wounded. The android that had been carrying Seth until he forced his way out paused momentarily to recover the rash young man, but upon seeing the Hyakuzor rise again decided that he really didn’t need help and left him to his devices. Meanwhile the squad sent to look for Lenny heard the commotion caused by John and Kell and moved in to investigate. Upon seeing their query, they immediately contacted Eva who relayed the information to the bomber pilots that had managed to get in the air before the Challenger’s destruction. “Roger that, commencing attack run. ETA 45 seconds.” Yes, Eva just called in an airstrike on the heavy-lift ship and the surrounding area. Two of the EVAs quickly secured John and Kell and started flying them away while saying in a quiet voice so only they can hear. “There is an airstrike inbound on this location. We are getting you to safety.” In the meantime, the remaining androids stayed behind to keep Lenny here, even if it meant getting caught in the airstrike. In Eva’s eyes, there can be no mercy for traitors. |

Some gynoids that visibly resembled EVA just offered their help with evacuation and were now carrying away the doctor, the demon, and the two survivors from Hyakuzor's demise. Considered the height from the ground, and the flight speed, Amelia didn't stop the metabolic alteration of her body, and kept herself ready for any strange thing, patiently waiting to be dropped in a safer place. The same could not be said aboud Seth, that broke free from the gynoid carrying him, and Heleth, that kept complaining like no tomorrow. "Let me down! I mean it! I'm losing screen time!" she kept yelling. The girl's hair was waving nervously, but she wasn't hindering the Eva unit's movements: she didn't want to be dropped down by mistake after all. Amelia's gaze followed Seth, that landed on the ground below and ran back at the remains of Hyakuzor. ----- "That is a contraddiction, Nieves" Naja spoke, her tail sliding in a spiral around her as she positioned between Saigyouji and the ascetic. The Lamia rose a little in her height, her hands down, her palms open toward Nieves. Her black, long hair was waving in a faint breeze. "You can't bring everything back exactly as it is. Assuming that you'd do that would mean that your action didn't change anything at all. To obtain a change, you will have to force something on all of us. You want to kill us all for your vision, and you will be forced to seed that very same vision in our rebirthed selves for your world to exist as you wish. This simply means that we will no longer be ourselves. Your words are fallacious." Naja took a deep breath. "You want people to have a choice, yet, you mean to deprive everyone of their free will. How can't you not see your mistake?" Finally snapping out of confusion, Aya quickly tried to rationalize the situation. The woman that attacked the train to Osaka was not a human. Sensei Lavender was there with her, and was facing a certain Nieves, that, judging by her words was among the responsible of this mess, and was exposing some rational about her intention of mass extermination with subsequent rebirth. Another woman, behind the snake woman was an intended target for Nieves, and another of the people that could exert some control on the giant, unstoppable colossus. Surprising in many ways, yet simple enough. Aya stepped closer, her eyes reddening. Should diplomacy fail, she definitely had to try everything to stop Nieves. No words, she simply stood closer to Naja with her fists closed. ----- "M-Merde!" Frederic reacted swiftly as soon as the pain ran from his leg to his brain. With a swift motion, the survivor flexed his body down. He dodged the sharp bone of the horrid, deformed ape in front of him as his knife ran on the tentacles that trapped and injured his leg. Cursing loudly, the TA did his best to escape the situation. It took a glance around, an instant, to see he was swarmed and overwhelmed. Hell, didn't he kill some of them already? The injury suffered on his leg was painful, but it didn't hinder his movements as the receded tentacles could not bind him anymore. Adrenaline filled his body as he barely dodged a claw of something that resembled a tiger. The claw barely missed his lowered head, but latched on his hat, ripping it away from his head. "What the hell!?" a loud complaint, but that was not the moment to care about his hat. His left arm, that didn't held his knife, was grabbed by another, oiled creature. With his right, he sinked his knife into the monster's head. "Diable! I'll have a few words with you, monsieur Barrons, when this is all over!" That was it, he was pretty much done for, surrounded by too many. But if there was something Frederic had on his side, it was sheer luck. He lost the count of the times he managed to save his hide in countless situations around the world in the past. Not to mention that his life was his most precious belonging. He would not give it up as long as he was breathing. That was assuming something could happen, something that could completely turn the tide of that situation. And Frederic just decided he hat to take that for granted. Edited by Sota, Jun 22 2014, 04:29 AM.

As E.V.A’s sensor scanned the heavy lift ship she would find . . . nothing. Sure Lenny had been there earlier, but he wasn’t there now. As she burst through the ceiling with her squad she would find nothing there, she could still call in the air strike if she wanted but her, and the war golem, and the gunship, would simply be bombing an empty ship. Kell and John were currently the only ones intervening with him in the foreman’s facility which they had followed Lenny into. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Phylactery Sketch (kind of big) Wham!! Lenny was launched from his perch on the massive spider by Kell’s kick. His focus on controlling his minions had caused him to be ignorant of his surroundings and his Phylactery was attempting to nurse the Hive Mind back up, which had left it impaired to the material world. As the Luchadore tried to follow him to the floor, however, she would feel a myriad of thick hands grasping onto her wooden arm, adjacent shoulder, and leg. If she looked back she would see something strange, the Phylactery, a giant spider, had split its back open to reveal a mass of thick tentacles, each ending in thick human hands. As she looked down she would see the bio-artisan well wounded, His glasses were shattered, his nose was twisted, and a thick bruise was running down the side of his face where his face had impacted the wall. He clutched his elbow as if in pain, and looked in sudden realization at the two, finally processing their intrusion. “Fuck” His Phylactery was sending him signals of her strength, she would break the grip soon. The creature nashed its bony maw, saliva indicating its desire to finish her, he knew that wouldn’t end well. He looked above, up towards where she was temporarily held. “I’m not” he winced a bit as he tried to move his arm, “A traitor. I haven’t even attacked anyone yet and you fuckers are already trying to kill me. I changed my mind, but I knew you would probably detain me for what I said, even if I admitted it. I was just trying to move my creations to the creature, Jesus Christ do you people just start shooting at everything” He spat it out, knowing that the enraged women above him was literally going to kill him. His haemonculi had yet to actually harm anyone, with the exception of Fredric, who happened to be in the wrong place when an enraged Hive Mind was reawakened, out of Lenny’s control. “How can I be a traitor, if I haven’t actually attacked anyone? All I did was try to move into combat” he said to both, hoping they would see reason. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the skies, however, Lucid’s scattergun was exploding like lightning, but not finding much affect. The skies were still stormy from the monster’s appearance and so the flechette from it would be blown off course massively by the storm winds. The pure weight of fire, however, was impressive and blew off the legs of one Dart haemonculi while sending fatal concussive blasts through the chest of another. The quick intervention of Kaizo assisted as well, trapping the admittedly weak dart haemonculi in their cages while E.V.A units along with fired to finish off the last few, who moved in strange patterns. The only point of difficulty, however, was all of the lead currently flying towards Hiro since most AA weapons, along with the full auto AA 12 would most likely by firing excess shots that were currently headed straight towards Hiro since the beasts were in a circle around them and moving to draw fire unto him. If Hiro could avoid the weight of friendly fire being put out by the two groups, he should be fine. Hopefully he could dodge the explosive AA 12 rounds. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fredric, however, would find luck. All the haemonculi on the ground suddenly stopped, the talons retracted, the runners fell, and the blades stopped singing. Once again, he was in eerie silence, his hat resting on the head of a Tiger haemonculi, a little bit worse for wear. Kell’s face kick had distracted him and the Phylactery from directing the haemonculi who had currently fallen to their stupor. Ricard would find the familiars he was fighting simply collapsing, the ones he had attacked before seemed to have for some reason not put up a true fight, and now they fell due to their master’s distraction. As the fate for the world went on above, the hunt for Lenny continued below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The dart haemonculi sent to the Phantom become Human would simply wait and watch for some clear sign of allegiance from the former ghost, trying to stay out of view of the many intervening. |

NICE DRIVE!
|
As the AA 12 rounds hurled towards Hiro a barrier of light green energy flashed to life around him causing the shots to gently curve around the shape of the sphere and continue on to their respective targets. Within the barrier, very close to Hiro himself, Yuki faded into visibility having remained close this entire time awaiting a moment of danger like this. Meanwhile, still lost inside the sea of thoughts the end result of their dialogue was becoming clear. While it looked to be a path towards a resolution, Hiro's aspirations seemed to hit a dead end. Something had occurred back in reality. Intense pain. Something had actually managed to harm this thing. Which meant that, potentially, it could be defeated. However, the change in the creature's sentiments. Fearing that too much more exposure might bring about a complete loss of his control on the situation, Hiro severed the link and returned himself to reality and the ongoing chaos. "Awesome," Hiro sighed dripping with sarcasm as he continued speaking out to no one in particular while re-taking in his surroundings, "Great job, everyone. This is wonderful! Glad we're a united front and all in that~" Glancing about, he noticed a particular amount of carnage seemed to be centered around his general vicinity in the sky. "And what the hell is all this?" the Mage widened his eyes in confusion. "Servants of a sort~" Yuki chimed in throwing her arms over Hiro's shoulders, "Or at least I think so? But it's really quite strange. Yuki saw it all! They swarmed your position, but didn't really do anything before being attacked." "That kid," Hiro mumbled to himself as his stock of the situation became clearer, "But then why wouldn't he have just gone for it? I'm sure I appeared completely defenseless. A crisis of conscious? Bad time to have doubts." It was jumping to some conclusions, but it made sense to Hiro. This thing didn't need minions to fight on its behalf. On its own it could take the entire group gathered on and keep pace easily. Once you ruled it out, there was really only one more culprit left to jump to. "So what now?" Yuki questioned ready for the next plan of action. "I dunno," Hiro laughed as he shook his head slowly, "For once I'm at a complete loss." There were more plans of course. The BPRD, Hellsing, Iscariot, all were waiting in the wings with reinforcements gathered should they be needed. But what could more people do? The Madan could be fired on his word. Did he really want to see the result of trying to erase from existence something that was likely beyond what they even considered existence to be? Though his powers were drained from the mind link, Hiro still had more than enough reserve supernatural energy left to play in the big leagues against this thing. But was it right for him to lift a finger after approaching this creature with the intention of a peaceful solution? Turning to face Yuki, Hiro vocalized the more pressing matter in the flurry of thoughts he was having: Like this, as things are right now, do we even deserve to win? |

Lavender took a step back as the ascetic known as Nieves broke free from her aerowhips and knocked back Naja - even as she provided a counterargument on how the world needed to be reborn, and a shift in her stance and adjustments to her outfit suggested that the ascetic was getting ready for a fight. For a moment, the aeromancer's finger would find her way into the trigger guard of her MGL-140 as the Lamia reared up, Lavender also getting ready to join the fight as Nieves challenged the group to provide proof of how her failure would be inevitable. "The Lamia's right, it's kind of a paradoxical statement, saying you'd bring everything back to what it was before - since that would imply bringing back the same world with all of its sufferings and injustices. If you are to remove said elements from the world, it couldn't be done without first bringing us back somehow differently than before, but then they wouldn't be as they were before," Lavender conceded to the Lamia's point as she tried to point out the errors in the ascetic's logic, for now abstaining from going for her weapon as a glimmer of hope exists whereby they might just be able to get Nieves to see the light. "You're operating on a faulty logic based in groundless assumptions here," the aeromancer continued, and as the apocalypse beast reeled from the next round of attacks that somehow - miraculously - managed to injure it, Lavender would point at the scene behind her with the thumb of her free hand. "And besides, looks like the one who'd reshape the world didn't turn out completely invulnerable afterall. Would you believe that a supposed "God" could be harmed by the efforts of man? Could you still put your faith in a being that doesn't really quite turn out to be omnipotent afterall? I'd rethink my position if I were you," Lavender remarked as she carefully eyed the ascetic, now wary of the next moves that the bluette may take. As he moves in closer to the commotion, he starts to get a clearer view of the gunman. Based on his uniform, he’s either military or a very dedicated cosplayer. The fact that he owns a firearm suggests the former, although given the crap that happens here… In any case, rather than obviously piss off the military man who likely has a authority over at least a platoon of men with guns, he decides to be a bit more subtle with his “revenge”. The moment he flies past him, he glances at the man’s gun out of the corner of his mask, not turning his head, in an attempt to not display what he’s doing. It’s only a brief glance, but it is all he needs. After instantly recognizing the size of the barrel, he uses his magic to Create a small block of steel inside the barrel of the gun, at the exact diameter of the barrel, to block any further shots. If he leaves peacefully, he would probably notice it when he… does maintenance on it or something, like military types do after every mission. However, if he were to, say, attempt to fire it at another unarmed girl? Well, that would certainly be interesting… However, that process would be completed in the blink of an eye. Now that he got close to the monster, something he honestly didn’t seem to realize he’d be doing, he sees a surprising thing. The lightning girl had managed to wound it. It’s bleeding, proving that it can be hurt. After positioning his board a bit so that his left side is facing the monster. Still feeling the infinite power from whatever source, Kazuya holds his left arm in front of him, and focuses on his magic. Combining his Creation magic, his telekinetic control over his creations, and his knowledge of weapon creation, Kazuya creates weapon after weapon, and throws them at the monster. “THOUSAND BLADES!” Spear, sword, axe, dagger, arrow, anything sharp that appears in his mind, he creates in the air next to him, and launches it. If his attacks are like a rock thrown at a tank, then maybe sheer numbers can do something, ANYTHING. |

The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)
|
'Of course we deserve to win. This guy says he doesn't have a choice, despite having a mind of it's own. It's not like we came all this way to have a picnic.' Shad retorted to whoever rudely killed the buzz in the swarm of voices. "Tch, and not only that, that creature ignored my logic." He muttered, as Shepard began to rise upward with him, proceeding to fly towards the Beast at a decent speed. 'Oi, Ms Makoto. We'll leave you to handle the blond girl's wounds, but it'd help if you could loan me a rifle or a shotgun. Thanks!' He thought-spoke to his commander, as Excalibur whispered something into his ear, making him wince a little at the idea. "You're absolutely sure you're fine with that?" The Holy Sword nodded, bonking him on the head for doubting him. "Ow...fine. But if this doesn't work, we may need to use the Wings of Light to strike hard if this creature is now vulnerable to attacks." Excalibur agreed to such a demand, shifting into weapon form, but was bent at a 45 degree angle. Shad pulled back with his right arm, taking precise aim at the center mass of the giant 'eyeball'. "Time to cut you down! Legendary Holy Technique #4563: Decidicum Boomerang Blade!" He cried out, before putting all of his strength into launching Excalibur full force like a rapidly spinning missile towards the Beast, ready to cleave it hard and fast with it's legendary holy power and evil slaying sharpness. |

Beware The Penguin Emperor
|
A sigh of relief escaped his lips, the creatures that had banded around Hiro had been successfully taken down, preventing any further incidents with them. While that happened, he noticed that a person had finally been able to damage the monster. After that event, the creature deigned itself to speak to everyone surrounding it, supposedly, if they were to defeat it, they couldn't hesitate. Kaizo looked around, marking a path to avoid hitting anyone in the nearby vicinity. He had the speed, but not the control, at the very least not when he was high up in the air and his only break mechanism was to push himself out of another pixel he'd have to create at that very moment. His reflexes were good enough to do so in most cases, but having an extra insurance to avoid accidentally tackling someone at super high speeds was something that he had well in his mind. After deciding on the safest route, the bluenette made his move to attack the creature. Instantly, from his position, he fired pixels at a rate faster than the most advanced maciine gun. Thanks to the boost in energy that he had been given, he was able to ensure that every single pixel was at full power, if he had a shot at hurting the monster, that would be the best. He didn't stay in one place either, by creating pixels and bouncing off of them, he was able to "fly" around the creature. It was only a matter of creating a pixel, pushing his feet towards it, then jumping forward, or up, or left, or right, or in any potential direction he felt like jumping at the moment. He jumped erratically as far as the up down axis went, but his movement was clearly spinning around the creature counter clockwise. All the while, shooting all the pixels he could at it at every second from every position in which he found himself. "It's like Mushihimesama again." ----- After having arrived at the port, Carol found out that the creature could be somehow damaged. The girl twirled multiple times, right before facing the beast and spouting one of her characteristic lines. "MIRROR KREUSS' MAGIC HAS WON OVER YOU FOUL BEAST!" Thinking that the previously nigh invulnerable beast had been rendered weak through something she did, perhaps abandoning a random person at its mercy, she figured that she had the right to take credit for that. After saying that, Carol generated two mirror clones, throwing both of them towards the creature. they would swim towards it somehow, and eventually start slashing right at it with their hands, hopefuly doing some, minor and probably at most annoying, damage. |

Ufufufufufufufufufu...

She hurt it. That thought flashed momentarily in her mind just before the eye shattered, jumping away out of fear of retaliation from the THING. It could be hurt. It could be stopped, for a moment. This THING felt pain. This THING, Ami noted, covers its own wounds, the ones inflicted by HER, and the ones inflicted by another person. Who, she doesn't know. Anger, fear, desperation. These emotions served to block the world around her, simply gazing at the THING, this THING which can be hurt, which could possibly be killed. Which meant- No. Ami couldn't relax. Mind racing. Adjusting her gravity bit by bit, orbiting around the THING. Tunnel-vision, noted one corner of her mind. A screeching noise. A sphere. Filed in one corner of her mind, careful to stay away from the secondary beacon of madness. The first beacon, the most important one, the one that must die, that THING that dares to say that this destruction was only meant to be because it had a duty. "Duty...To hell with your duty." It said that it didn't have a choice. Fine. It had it's duty. FINE. Stubbornness coming to the foreground. Walls of resistance building up in her mind, giving little thought to the commotion around her as she stared at the incomprehensible THING, ballpoint pen gripped firmly in her hand. If any weakness was shown, all will perish. Ami couldn't deny that she was ready to snap, mind stubborn with assumptions and rationalizations and pure fear. Her left pinky felt slightly lighter than her right pinky. Third right toe, heavier than her left big toe. Minor gravity fluctuations. It didn't matter. This THING had to DIE. "Die...by my hand..." A simple riff in her head. Simple humming. Adjusting trajectory once more, her pen slowly feeling heavier and heavier in her hand, gravity weighing down on it more and more. With a simple twist of her body, she'd focus her own gravity to land on the beast, aiming to strike at another of the plethora of eyes and with any luck, take it even slightly off balance as the heavy speck she was becoming. She'd need quite a bit of sleep after this. |

Selene found her attention being momentarily turned away from hunting down the turncoat that was Lenny Barrons, to witnessing the awe-inspiring, yet at the same time utterly terrifying sight of Fate's all-out barrage on the apocalypse beast; which somehow proved effective when all other previous attempts had failed. But how? Even more jarringly was how - according to the reports from the PMC gunship that the beast somehow even managed to get harmed by a girl jamming a pen into one of its eyes. The corporate heiress could only wonder how that was even possible; was the beast somehow weakened due to two of its three masters retracting their wishes? Or perhaps, the sheer desperation driving Fate and Ami's attacks were channeled into the girl's powers, providing a force capable of overriding the will of the creature's masters? Selene could probably speculate on dozens of possible theories, but knew that none of said speculations would get her anywhere. But here was where the corporate heiress found herself at a crossroads; should she resume her hunt for the turncoat and devote Frostfire Industries' remaining PMC assets into doing so? Or should she take another shot at the apocalypse beast? That perhaps they might stand a chance of destroying it this time around? But would it be right to do so, especially after it was shown that the entity actually possessed intelligence and was even capable of empathy? "Did you just see that, Ms. Frostfire? Looks like that bastard can be wounded after all. Shall I give the order for my men to deliver another round of concentrated fire?" the PMC commander's voice came over the communications earpiece, looking to the corporate heiress for orders. "All units, stand by. Open fire at my command." A cacophony of gun-cocking sounds were heard as the mercenaries regrouped, reloaded their weapons and stood by for further instructions; while nearby at the Frostfire encampment the Eye of Ra cannons went live once more, the signature yellow-orange glow building up inside their barrels as the particle beam cannons began warming up. "Hold your fire." "But Ms. Frostfire, you can't be serious," the veteran merc replied, a tone of disbelief in his voice. "You heard me, give the order for your men to fall back," Selene ordered. "You're the boss," The PMC commander replied; though technically Selene was the de facto boss, being granted command over the PMC regiment on the behest of Thomas Frostfire. As the order was given, the PMC regiment began to fall back from the dock, heading back towards the encampment, save for the Black Hawk as it continued to circle around the area to provide support fire for Selene. "What now?" The corporate heiress wondered as the golem continued to wander around on its hunt for Lenny Barrons, for the most part ignoring any of the haemonculi unless they made an active attempt to attack it or Selene, or any that couldn't get out of the way of its feet quickly enough. "I knew my faith in you was well-founded, Senhor," Jen remarked as she went back over the Abilio's side to give the hacker a pat on the shoulder, the Brazilian having decided to retract his wish. "I don't know if I can agree with you about the world being an ugly place, man... but if there's any reason to see beauty in the world, it's probably because of people like you." the purple-haired girl smiled as she gave him another reassuring pat on the back. "We're not out of the woods yet though, one of the beast's masters is still out and about, and now that two of you had retracted your wishes looks like it answers completely to the sole remaining king..." Jen remarked as she retrieved her phone to send a Skype message to Eva.
And with the message Jen would also send an audio file to the gynoid, namely her recording of the conversations that'd taken place when Naja and Saigyouji appeared on the school grounds a week prior, up to and including the boy's conversation of Saigyouji and subsequent heated exchange with Hiro. "What do you know of the last remaining king, Senhor Abilio? Do you think she might be nearby around here or that it might be possible to reason with her?" |

"...Rebirth, was it...?" Of course. How could she not have realized the answer earlier? So easy, so simple... ...Oh. Of course, she knows exactly why. "ARE OUR LIVES SO WORTHLESSLY CHEAP TO YOU TO PLAY AROUND LIKE TOYS?!" Her furious yell was accompanied by a sudden and powerful gust of spiritual energy. The former ghost taking initiative, one step forward past her savior to face the ascetic by herself. "One thousand years. ONE THOUSAND YEARS, I have been trapped in the land between life and death for ONE THOUSAND YEARS. I have seen MANY SOULS pass from the land of the living to the land of the dead. Each and every one of them are special, with their own life and death stories. AND YOU ARE SUGGESTING SOMETHING THAT BELITTLES THEIR EXISTENCE!!!" The former ghost held out her hand. Ethereal energy began materializing out of nowhere, clumping together in her hand and ending up forming... an oddly shaped pink dagger. On closer inspection they would find traces of that seemed to be dried up bloodstain that shouldn't be there. She then brought it up to her other wrist and violently sliced across it. Agony that she had never felt for over a thousand years seared through the open wound, only slightly stemmed by the blood profusely flowing to the floor. Her scream was short however, quickly muffled by the biting of her own tongue. "H-hahah... L-look at... me..." The former ghost said harshly through cold sweat and gritted teeth, shakily holding out her hand and letting her blood drip in plain view. "I... HAVE... been reborn...! Flesh and b-blood... I can feel pain... I can bleed... I could even die again because I am alive... B-but... I could never accept this... because Lady Saigyouji has been dead since one thousand years ago and she will never be truly alive as herself ever again!" And then something happened. A jolt of pain unrelated to her wound. It was... something, something else... She turned around to see the Beast reeling back in agony... It was being... hurt?! ~Frostfire Encampment~ "EEEVAAAAA ANNIIIINGSSS!!!" A thunderous primal roar of anger that came from out of nowhere, as quite literally a massive ethereal fiery scarlet dragon just dropped in from the sky on top of Lenny's creations, the sheer heat from the ki would literally burn up anything that it would come in contact with lest they get away quickly enough! It would soon dissipate however, and from the gigantic dragon inferno came out the Dragon Teacher Shun who... was running straight for Eva and- WHAM!!! ...Threw a punch at her?! "I don't care if he's being a traitor or whatever!!!" The dragon youkai yelled furiously at the gynoid, pointing accusingly at her. "But first and foremost he is an inexperienced young man and MY student! I do NOT want ANY of MY students killing off each other, so call off ALL of your attacks NOW!!!" ...Was that... the first time he's ever yelled at her so angrily like that...? ~Hyakuzor~ The Thing stopped. It was considering his idea. There was no actual words being exchanged but thanks to the broad mind link he could tell that the creature was truly consideri.g his suggestion over its duty. For the moment Seth saw a slight glimmer of hope. They could reason with it. It can understand them. And then everything just went to hell. Blazes and flurries of attacks just came out of nowhere and struck the beast with such ferocity that it actually succeded in causing it to actually feel pain, even pushing it back. To the others, this may seem like the very chance they had been waiting for, to finally be able to overpower the beast and drive it back to where it came from. For this very moment though, this is not what Seth had wanted to happen. "...Wha-..." "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU GUYS THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" The young man yelled out as he forced Hyakuzor to march forward and stop any further attacks on the beast, but to his horror he couldn't do so. The force exerted on the legs just from trying to move forward broke the already weakened machineries, causing Hyakuzor to collapse forward onto the ground, it's legs no longer functioning. "No- nonono, come on, get back up dammit!!! GET BACK UP AND STOP THEM, THIS ISN'T NECESSARY!!!" He actually has no idea if the creature's mind would even change or not regardless of whether it had been assaulted, but that did not stop Seth from being... hopeful. The young man holds... great value towards life, so much that he would throw away everything in order to be able to protect everyone. And this creature... it was alive. It could think, it could reason, it could feel and understand...It is alive... And it's being... As much as he knew it's one and only duty is to destroy the entire world, all that had been forgotten by him in favor of his own sentimentality. To him, at this very moment... "STOP IT, YOU'RE GOING TO KILL HIM!!!" The young man had abandoned the controls, doing his best to punch through the terminal to get out of the hunk of metal now serving as his prison. "NO ONE HAS TO DIE DAMMIT!!! STOP ATTACKING!!!" His attempts to break out was fruitless, the wounds Heleth had spent so much of her effort bandaging up was being reopened. The psychic broadcast was weakening. The one responsible for it in the first place was slowly losing hold of her life just trying to keep it open. She had been silent in the little blue police mecha this whole time, only mumbling to herself in the pool of her own blood. "DAMMIT-... STOP- gah...! S-Stop...!" Seth voice grew hoarse. He couldn't feel how much injuries he's reopened now, listlessly and fruitlessly trying to shoulder the terminal out of the way, unable to actually feel his arms working anymore. "S-stop it...! No one has to die...!" Be it his voice or his thoughts, they would never leave the cockpit of the fallen Hyakuzor. |
