ZEHAHAHA!!
Kell kept on running. At the current stage, it seemed like an enemy to be out-thought instead of out-fought. And if it meant that she had to stay out of the line of fire, she'd gladly welcome the change. The monster had been stopped this time, but it was going to attack again in a few seconds.

If she or her still hated enemy was in that range, she was fairly certain that they'd be fertilizing the ground once the next one landed on the floor.

"GET OUT! FUCKING RUN!" She yelled at anybody who would listen.

-------

"Well, more teleporting." Lucid panted. Yes, that spiritual drain had actually affected her, but she was still grinning as she sat down. "Misogi, eyes to that red head."

The miko's eyes widened as she spotted the girl. Ah, she understood. With a gentle nod, she flew off with tremendous speed so she could enter Amitie's range. Using her own body as a channel, she took in the walking engine's power and beamed it to as many people as she could see.

Lucid grinned as she stood up, now recharged and fine. The miko was remotely powering others now, so they could draw upon Amitie's aura even if they were normally out of range.

"GET OUT OF THERE, BEFORE THE NULLIFYING THING GETS USED!" The fool called out, oblivious to the part where nobody could hear her over the sounds of battle.

Despite the massive amount of fire-power thrown at the monster, nothing seems to be stopping it. Even the rail gun he was proud of, seemed all but useless. Why is he able to tell where it is though? Even ignoring the obvious trail from the discharge, it was almost as if… as if he knew it would come. But the time for questioning that can come later. At least Mugen showed up. Well, or someone else who knows how to operate a rail gun. But what to d-

For the love of… WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?! Ignoring the fact that they somehow found a connection between magic, demonology, alien powers, and… that one mutant guy around there somewhere (which should be IMPOSSIBLE), and decided to weaponize it, why would they even think it would do anything but cripple their own fighting force?! Whatever it is, it’s not doing anything but attacking with brute strength, strength that is hardly out of the ordinary for a being that size. So nullifying any powers, if they don’t blink out half of the non-humans as well, would only cripple their own efforts at survival!

IT’S A PLAN THAT ONLY A CRAZY PERSON WOULD THINK OF! HOW WOULD A CRAZY PLAN LIKE THIS D…

And suddenly, Kazuya realizes. Normal tactics don’t seem to work at all. The best thing to try may be something both completely insane, yet something nobody would think of. As he raises his left hand and closes his eyes, he realizes what he needs first.

For starters, the voice in his head.

That sounds like the start of any crazy plan.

Protect the world ender and Lady Saigyouji In a sea of alien consciousness this was the only human thought. Those looking to the east would see a carpet of skittering bodies heading towards the central battlefield. The beasts, some climbing, leaping, or flying, were of one mind. Lenny and his spider like Phylactery were not among the crowd, the Hive Mind deaming the Artisan too valuable for this drive forward.

Hundreds of eyes watched as the proud titan of gleaming flesh fell and an army of iron men moved through the air. To the alien mind the events were unnoticed, they weren’t threats to either of its charges. As soon as the beams of light appeared from the various cannons firing off, however, the living carpet shifted direction. Though the beams were small they presented a clear danger.

Crawling over abandoned boats, crates, dockside wrecks the Hive made a clear beeline for the Frostfire Industries encampment. The jumbled herd of mutated creatures didn’t make any attempt to remain hidden as they moved at a steady rate towards the emplacements. The snorts, and roars grew as they closed closer and closer.

Even if they were fired upon they would advance, their numbers would give them a decent chance of overrunning the position and tearing down the guns. They were closing in, crawling over the barriers, almost there and then. Collapse. . .

The whole group would fall over, comatose. A distance away a anti-power burst had been fired. The Hive Mind was a large entity, and the blast had wounded it, breaking its connection, if only for a few moments. The whole group in real space appeared to be sleeping, dead, at least until they got back up.

A fair distance away the Spider-like Phylactery, containing Lenny, traveled to the highest point of the harbor, a nearby, sturdy cargo crane over a Heavy-Lift Ship, nearly half a mile in length. The eight eyes of the Phylactery looked out over the by, each eye keeping a sharp look for threats. It recognized the blinding burst of plasma and the mind would some of Lenny’s host towards the golem once the frostfire guns were taken out.

Its body shuddered as EVA’s blast wounded the Hive Mind, but do to its position as a primary synapse it was able to still operate.

Ricard heard the announcement, he had to get even further away in that case. What little he could currently do to it would be rendered to nothing if he stayed any closer to the creature. He picked up his speed, whilst he didn't have to worry about being crushed anymore he wanted to get his distance away from it and evaluate what little he could do.

He turned back to have a look and the sight shocked him, the Hyakuzor was down it had been damaged more or less beyond repair. The rain coated over the battlefield, it seemed like something from a nightmare. However he couldn't just let his fear overtake him. If he did then there was no reason to ever be here. Picking up the pace he turned back and ran as quickly as possible until he was positive he was out of range. Again he seemed like he couldn't contribute anything to this situation which frustrated him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Damnit, this is bad." Dawn growled, she didn't know what she could do in this situation beyond pettily hope that the equivalent of throwing pebbles at the creature could somehow stop it. Magic flowed through to her right hand and she began firing off small blasts of energy at the creature.
Even though she knew that it wasn't doing anything other then wasting her own energy Dawn had to attempt something. If she didn't then she'd just be useless and getting in everyone's way. As far as she knew she was well outside the range of the magic bomb they were going to use so she was safe from that at least. Never the less she continued to fire at the creature even thought it didn't seem to be doing anything. She could do that at least.
"FIRE! FIRE! Get some ordinance on that thing!"
"We are firing! We've been using everything we've got!"
"What are you using, insults?! You didn't even hurt its feelings!"
"I...don't have enough power like this..."
Compatible Kaiser, while truly powerful as a machine, had limits. Kouta's will to fight powering the Over-Gate engine was keeping it from being flat out crushed...but nothing more. Armor panels cracked, while the controls were sparking from the strain Kouta was being met with. Compatible Kaiser's golden crest was snapped and even one of its pupils simply exploded, revealing the glowing green optic beneath.
"No good...COME HERE! G-THUNDERGATE!"
Another command as the Kaiser was forced to pull back after all personnel beneath him were out of range. It was there Kouta was forced to retreat and call for the machine's support craft: a giant red jet that he flew to meet on the outskirts of the beast's form.
"G-FORMATION!"
Another command and the jet attached to Kaiser's back, granting the robot a new helmet as well as closing a mouthplate over the "bleeding" mouth of Compatible Kaiser. Now, armed G-Compatible Kaiser, Kouta continued his duties as acting as the commanding officer for BOARD.
"To all able units. Continue evacuating those who are incapacitated and provide cover to the escorts. Do not try to engage the beast directly, focus on protecting the others. Do not expend resources more than necessary."
Attacks weren't working, so rather than waste ammo on the beast itself, it may have been better to just clear bits of the city to make moving through it easier. Buildings could be rebuilt, lives could not. Survival was the most important factor to this mission right now. "Our rendezvous point shall be under G-Compatikaiser. Re-establish a base of operations to safely deal with the injured."
To that end, the Riotroopers and the Glaives made their retreat in order to regroup. The only stops they made were to pick up those injured in the initial attack and get them to safety. Even Kazuna joined them, though had switched to the "RaToraTah" combo somewhere along the way in order to scout any alleyways and the like on foot. Even their strongest wasn't enough...it was time to regroup and try a different approach.
They had to hold the line. They just had to...!
"Growmon...we need to get out of here! It's not working!"
Shirou yelled at his partner, who was literally exhausting itself after using several bursts of his "Exhaust Flame" attack. It was then, and only then, the feral nature of his partner began to calm down. Growmon had never faught anything like this before...and for the first time, it felt fear.
"Shiroumon...! It's...not working...."
"...for now, let's try and find others. We need to help rather than blindly charge in."
With a hesitant nod, Shirou was now lifted and perched on Growmon's back. It was time to find a place to catch their breath...
NICE DRIVE!
Meanwhile, high in the clouds, an all too familiar figure for the students of Hyakuji was floating in the open sky above the chaos just out of reach from the Anti-Magic Pulse.
Posted Image
By grace of calling in all the favors he could, Hiro Tsukasa had wound up quite late to the battle. As the pulse finished emanating, the Mage frowned. There wasn't much hope that it impacted things to any important degree. Likely, it would just act as a limitation to their own fighting force.
"This isn't working," Hiro mumbled aloud softly, "And that kid too..." With his senses enhanced by a simple spell, Hiro had quickly taken stock of the battle in its current state. So far the Enemy seemed entirely free from impact of their efforts. To make matters worse, that little brat from before had actually outright turned against Humanity to fight on behalf of that Thing.
"What's that, Master?" Yuki Unsere asked in a supportive tone as she appeared from thin air just slightly behind Hiro. The demon girl wasn't about to let her appointed Master stride off into such a dangerous battle alone. Even if their personalities seemed to clash from time to time, it was hard to deny that Yuki was quite helpful in dire situations.
"I'm going to have to try doing something really stupid," Hiro explained with a worried sigh, "And it also means I'm going to need your help."
Posted Image
"Wahaha~" Yuki laughed with excitement placing a hand behind her head and striking a pose while giving Hiro a wink, "What's the plan? And what can the lovely Yuki do for you?"
"In a few more moments the other should be in position," Hiro explained as he turned to face the Demon Girl with a rather serious look upon his face, "Before we go full force in support to the fight, I want to try... I have to see if this thing can be reached out to... if we can reason with it at all... But I've seen this trick done before, by actual telepaths instead of using magic to simulate such abilities and it didn't go well. There's a chance I might be injured, or even worse."
"If something happens to me," Hiro continued as he looked back down to the madness below, "Then you're my lifeline. And if that does happen, then there is something very specific I want you to do. First, get my body to the others below. It doesn't matter who, someone you recognize that's we can consider loyal. And after that, I want you to flee and get yourself to the Demon Realm and don't look back. I'm not sure if there will be any more safe from this thing, but..."
"H-Hiro," Yuki spoke half-stunned at the Magus' words. Since they had met all that time ago, their relationship had been rather the same. While it couldn't be denied that he valued the Demon Girl's company, in general he seemed to ignore any affection from her and treat such actions as a nuisance. In this moment, for the first time, he was actually outright showing direct concern.
"And one more thing," Hiro cut off her words not giving Yuki a chance to say more as he turned to face her and drew from his coat pocket the Crimson Orb, "I, Hiro Tsukasa, release you from your binds and grant you freedom." For a split second, the wizard's hand charged with magic and just like that the Crimson Orb began to crack up and all at once shatter.
In truth, the matter of freeing Yuki from being tied to it had been solved for some time. However, mastering the proper ritual to do so had always wound up as a secondary concern to more pressing matters. With the knowledge of this coming battle, Hiro had felt it best to take care of the matter since there might not be a chance later. A smart wizard coveted their power. The magic they learned, they secrets they gained, the servants they held. But he had come to terms with this. In the end, Hiro was pretty stupid.
"If you follow me into this craziness," Hiro added with a smirk as Yuki's eyes began to well up with tears of joy, "I want it to be your choice. I want you to come fight by my side. Not as my Servant, but..."
====
I have to do what I can...
Yuuki reminded himself of his goal in this matter. Even with the power that being Mega Man Model ZX brought, he was smart enough to know that fighting the monstrosity before him in any meaningful way was still out of his league. However, there were swarms of other creatures littering the area as well. Were they its minions? It was hard to tell. The location had devolved into all out chaos once the Giant Monster hit the scene. He'd do what he could dispatching the smaller fry and helping those injured get to safety. For now, that was enough. However, his approach was suddenly halted by an unfamiliar voice calling his name:
"Yuuki! Hitagawa Yuuki?"
"M-Me?" Yuuki came to a pause and turned to sight Yuzuki, "Um... well... this might be a bad time, but I'm sorry... I don't think I know who you are..." The Reploid was quickly searching over his memories. The name finally came up: Yuzuki. Yes, he had seen her around the hallways on campus. However, thus far they had never really spoken to one another directly.
Luckily this had been a boon. Stopping his approach saved him from all the troubles those rushing the rest of the way encountered. He wanted to ask what was up. If she needed any help at all; it was what he had settled on devoting his abilities to. But before he could utter another word, he heard another voice calling out likely addressing him as well. It seemed he had suddenly become quite popular for some reason. It was confusing, but there was little time to think over it.
"Ahah," Yuuki laughed softly, "All kinds of new friends... but it's so poorly timed..." Glancing in the direction of the voice he sighted Ian. He looked a bit less friendly than Yuzuki. However, the Reploid reasoned to himself that he probably didn't have any right to think that being decked out in combat armor himself.
What exactly was going on?
====
The roar of Diablossa's engine came to a halt on the strip of road that ran along the edge of the area.
Posted Image
Despite the insistence of the Hyakuji PD for all officers to remain within the city to keep it secured, Daisuke Nakano had gone off on his own. He had gathered the details of the matter from those at the school more closely connected to things. This wasn't just some giant monster problem. This was end of the world scale stuff. Like hell he was going to sit on the sidelines knowing something like this was going on.
"Hah," Daisuke scoffed feeling a rush at the unfolding scene of chaos before him, "I've seen worse!" Of course, this was a total lie. Despite his passionate soul and love of gambling the odds, he could not die the lurking fear he felt in the pit of his stomach. Still, everything was riding on this battle. With as much confidence as he could muster, Daisuke donned the Accel Driver and then held forth the Accel Memory.
ACCEL
"HENSHIN!" Daisuke roared loudly as he inserted the Accel Memory into his belt and become enveloped in a radiant crimson light.
Posted Image
Now, as Kamen Rider Accel, Daisuke transformed into Bike Mode and began to race down the hill and into the fray of things. Things were already looking grim. The detective wasn't quite sure what his powers could add, but he noticed other Riders had already assembled in the area. With such a gathering of force, surely there was something that could be done.
====
"Roger," Isaac spoke over his headset, "Claudia and I are in position. The Madan is secured and ready to fire on command."
Posted Image
"Eheh~" Claudia laughed in an almost cheering tone as she leaned down close over Isaac's shoulder, "You're so cute when you talk all official like that~"
Posted Image
"W-What!?" Isaac asked suddenly as his face flushed red and he looked up from the large scope he had been checking through, "C'mon, this is serious. You know Hiro doesn't get us involved unless it's really important. If they fail now, it's going to impact us all."
"I know, my love," Claudia replied in a more concerned tone, "But if it comes down to it, you cannot afford to miss. Just keeping you relaxed~" It was quite a ways back from the actual action.
The vampiric duo had set up shop on the top of a large building miles and miles back from the shore. There, the long-barreled sniper rifle constructed by Arcadia to assist in the firing of Madan had been set up. Due to the magically enchanted scope, helped in no small part by the Target's giant size, it would be easily possible for Isaac to line up a shot from this area. Effectively far beyond the Beast's potential reach as well as the Anti-Magical Pulse that had been mentioned over their comms channel.
Range was not a concern of the Black Bullet. Any target caught in the sight of its wielder would be sought across any distance and, when met in direct contact, wiped from existence. Of course, there was little guarantee of this fact given their opponent. Still, it was worth a shot. Or so Hiro had suggested.
"Mm, and I appreciate it, I'm sorry," Isaac apologized, "I'll make it up to you when this is all over."
"You can make up for it now, please," Claudia began to tease Isaac, "I want you to say it. Just like in the show~"
"Mmnrrgh," Isaac began trying to choke back the growing embarrassment before finally giving in to her demands, "Roger, Isaac, sniping the target!" Of course, he wouldn't actually be firing until word came. Still, thoroughly amused, Claudia began to clap and laugh triumphantly.
====
In the wake of the Anti-Magic Pulse, teleportation gates began to open all across the battlefield. Surprisingly, an enigmatic Rider-like army began to flood out at various points:
Posted Image
"GO!" Makoto shouted fiercely emerging from the final portal clad in her Arcadia uniform.
Posted Image
Arcadia, of course, had to take action as well. While there was no time to deal with higher ups and properly authorize action on the matter as a Mission, using his rights as the leader of their group Hiro had authorized any Fire Division member to utilize Arcadia's tools as they saw fit. Furthermore, he cleared Makoto to lead a detachment of general Fire Division members armed with Mage's Belts to provide support in combat.
With their orders already given, at Makoto's word the army of Kamen Rider Mages flew into battle focusing on helping others to their feet and working to dispatch the strange small creatures that had flooded the battlefield. "Everyone is in position," Makoto spoke over her comm-link reporting back in to Yamato, "I'll do what I can, Sir. Over and out."
====
"We'll set up a perimeter here," the Academy Instructor declared to the gathering of spellcasters surrounding her following the mass teleport that had brought them into this chaotic battlefield, "It should be far enough back to avoid that pulse we detected." Their affiliation was all too clear due to the robes of varying colors her companions wore. Each one bore the insignia from the Tower of Fang; the premier source of magic and wizardry in the world. And Luna herself happened to be both one of its youngest and most skilled teachers.
Posted Image
"Keep an eye on the battlefield," Luna barked out orders as she crossed her arms slowly, "Help those injured to retreat to this line. For them and any pulling back from the battle employ all healing magic available to patch them back up. Avoid engaging directly in combat unless it is for self-defense or to protect someone from direct and mortal harm."
The Academy Students shouted back in confirmation and immediately set to the task before them. Meanwhile, Luna merely kept an eye on things hoping to better gauge the hell they had dropped into. At this point, Hiro Tsukasa was little more than a Heretic to the Wizard Saints that presided over the Tower of Fang. Still, after hearing the story, Luna couldn't avoid confronting them with the matter. In light of all out destruction, they simply couldn't ignore getting involved as well.
"Tsukasa," Luna muttered with frustration, "You have a lot of nerve asking me to do this. I'll never forgive you if we all die here." An impossible notion, should they actually fail. But this knowledge did little to stop her sentiments.
====
"You won't go any further," Rika spoke confidently as her slender hand grasped the hilt of her katana, "SEVEN SWORD STYLE!" With a flash, the blade was drawn and her lithe form exploded into a fury of slashes and strikes that numbered too many for a single blade to be possible of making.
Posted Image
These creatures, they had flooded out of nowhere and seemed to be rushing towards the encampment set up by Frostfire Industries. River City Ransom was all about doing what they could to represent the city they had come to love and protecting Frostfire's tech was certainly a worthy goal for the group for the time being; while their major play was still forming. However, no sooner had they dove into the fray, the creatures came to a crashing halt as if someone pressed some off-switch on them.
"What the hell?" Daigo questioned in confusion mid-fist drawn back ready to punch one to the moon, "It's not supposed to be that easy, right?"
Posted Image
"Hey hey," Kazama shouted suddenly as he came running up from further back beyond the encampment, "Doesn't matter, everything is ready to go. C'mon!!!" Nodding in agreement, the duo followed Kaz back and to the side of the Frostfire Encampment. As they ran, the young boy began to chant out the spell he had carefully memorized several days ago. It was a good thing he had heard the warning to pull back momentarily or their entire gambit would have been wasted.
Posted Image
Finishing the final words, Kazama snapped his fingers exhausting all his magic potential in one go to suddenly summon a rather fancy performance stage decked out with towering amps and its own generator. The stage itself was already set up with mics and all their favorite instruments awaiting them. It would look pretty stupid to anyone that didn't know them. Still, they had to handle things their own way. As the group took to the stage each one rushed to their respective instrument.
"Everyone ready?" Aya asked in a reassuring voice as she looked to the other members of River City Ransom, "Let's show this thing the power of our music."
Posted Image
"Heh," Tatsuya smirked as he beamed with confidence and clutched the mic away from the stand center stage, "Rika, it's you and me this time. Let's give the students of Hyakuji High a song that will really get the blood pumping!"
"F-Fine," Rika replied with frustration as she finished programming the series of synths gathered around her usual station and then abandoned it to join Tatsuya center stage and take up another mic.
Booming from the army of speakers they had assembled on and around the stage, Daigo's opening guitar rift cut its way through the cacophony of battle making itself almost unavoidable to hear. Taking a deep breath, Rika opened her mouth as she took her first shot at singing center stage alongside Tatsuya:
The words we pledged on that morning of legend -
Let the miracle illuminate our shared voice.
Revolution, let's shout!
Revolution, let's shout!
The wind dances through the sky of light, and the echo blows through.
This right hand and this left hand –
What do they wish for?
If we each take our feelings of longing for catharsis of the soul
And place them together, connect them to each other,
Will the message come through?
To flow along passively, surrendered to destiny,
Never changing the vision for tomorrow – that's not interesting.
Rave of blood, boil away,
As though mixed with plasma.
Revolution's dualism – now, let's begin!
Does the telepathic roar of life
Reach where you are?
This chemical reaction of love is an epic.
Follow me to the end of the dream!
All of paths of life
Will merge together someday.
When that day comes, you will pass the judgement.
Revolution, let's shout!
A decent tuning, balanced perfectly at zero.
Like a kiss, it has cracked into my system -
A forever-colorful dream.
The gods grant us hope and obscure the pain.
What do I protect? What do I believe?
In your words, how should I live?
The door to the future is the toss of a coin.
Choose cruelty, you of the daybreak.
I'll show you a flight above a stunning view,
Crossing the rainbow as you've never seen.
Awakening's dualism - now, let's fly in!
Emerging legends, howling impulse.
Send the sparks flying!
The beats, pounding out your heart's bravery -
How far can we go?
With "something" that has never changed,
How many times have you kissed, have you trusted?
And then you once again meet a love, a story.
Just trust my heart
Just feel my heart
...Hold you
Once you have the crystals of prideful love
Tight in your grasp,
I'll go out to meet you...
The journey from a moment to our whole lives
Was enough to show me everything.
A love song to you...
Break out! Snap apart your chains!
Declare your independence!
Does the telepathic roar of life
Reach where you are?
This chemical reaction of love is an epic.
Follow me to the end of the dream!
All of paths of life
Will merge together someday.
When that day comes, you will pass the judgement.
Revolution, let's shout!
Revolution, let's shout!
As the band continued to play and their song carried on, the various powers of the group began to flow together and create a wave of energy. Those listening to the song couldn't help but feel their morale overflowing and their spirits re-invigorated. However, the song was much more than that. The band, they wanted this thing to hear their song. To listen and understand its words. Understand why they, like ants, were struggling so hard beneath its stride.
Could it understand them? Music was just another form of communication. The words. the sounds. Their movements upon the stage. Would this Creature listen?
====
Like a lightning bolt, a streak of energy tore through the clouds above and into the fray of the battlefield. It would be hard to make out at first among all the confusion of the battle that had erupted. However, it would become an all to recognizable sight as it came to a stop just in front of the Entity's face. Floating before the monster was none other than Hiro Tsukasa.
The tattered black cloak he had donned fluttered behind him wildly due to the wind. The ornate silver gauntlets that rested over each hand etched with numerous magical symbols made things clear. Seemingly wasting no time, Hiro had activated his Bankai known as Archmage. For the time being, his effective magical powers were essentially doubled. Would that even be enough?
"I know this is risky," Hiro spoke talking to the Beast as if it might understand their simple language, "But it will eat away at me, if I don't give it a shot. Not that any of us would be around to care~" Behind him, he could hear the roar of music. It was those kids again. Only a bunch of idiots would try to have a concert staring down the end of the world. Still, a smile couldn't help but work across the Magus' face hearing their words. In the end, all of them gathered here right now were idiots. But it didn't matter.
Holding both arms out suddenly, magic began to pool and charge into each gauntlet before exploding over his own body. It was clear that, thus far, their attempt at combat had done little. It was time for a new tactic. With the new spell taking its effect on his body, Hiro reached out with his mind touching directly into the Entity's:
Hello? I'm not sure if you can hear me, let alone understand what I am trying to convey to you. I am Hiro Tsukasa, a Sorcerer of Earth. I humbly request a chance to have dialogues with you. I'd like to understand you. Understand your position in all of this. To try and reach some form of understanding between us...
What is this thing?
David looked up and saw a figure hovering in front The Beast's face, barely a speck in comparison to the monsters massive frame.
"Tom is that who I think it is?" David questioned his familiar as he made out the figure's spiky brown hair. "Yes master, that is most likely your demonology teacher Hiro Tsukasa."
"All right!!" The young mage cheered, his earlier anxiety forgotten. "Hiro-sensei is here, he should know what to do."
It was then the music of the band River City Ransom reached his ears.
"It could be the end of the bloody world and someone decides to throw a freaking concert!!" He said out loud incredulously.
"Well then far be it from me to enjoy the show" He grinned as the morale boosting power of the song filled him and his eyes began to glow with white light as his hope was rekindled.
He placed the potion filled back in his pocket in case he needed it later and then charged back into the fray roaring a battle cry and brandishing his staff with the intention of smashing his way through every one of the smaller creatures that had appeared in order to help protect all he held dear.
Tyzal clung for dear life, but from the risk of being tossed aside like a raindrop on the beast's back. Whatever it was, simple contact hadn't done a thing to him, so it couldn't have been innately hostile to everything that existed - at least, not all the time. An interesting thought to mull on, though as he began his climb up the creature, there were other things to seize his attention as well. Attacks and strikes were made against the beast's form, yet all seemed for naught as it shrugged off each and every one in turn. The beast retaliated in fury, seizing and bringing down upon the heads of this world's would be heroes, a ship that would have assisted them. People were scrambling, trying to change strategy, find another answer as the beast posed ever more questions.
Still, Tyzal climbed, bracing himself every now and again when particularly large strikes erupted across the beast's body, and threatened to throw him off. His Hunter-VG struggled to scan the creature and make some sense of its biology - if it even had such in any proper sense - but it was just doing what it was programmed to do. After all, if it could discern something, then it could discern a weakpoint, something exposed that he and others might strike upon. There was a scream, a warning for those with supernatural abilities to flee the vicinity as some weapon was unleashed - he heeded no such warning, his abilities derived from the biology of the AMians, and the applied technologies of the Hunter-VG. As others scrambled away, Tyzal instead picked up his pace, pulling himself in great bounds, up along the strange and surreal surface.
His path carried him past the strange, sudden bolt that sprang into action, trying to save what it could. Tyzal was indeed now firmly upon the curious creature's back, with enough of its hide beneath him to stand upon. His bounding became a rush, running along the strange surface towards where, in any other creature, the 'brain' might have been. Atop its head where the mouth was soon ceasing to be, Tyzal gazed upon the field, uncertain of what he might do from here. His buster surely couldn't have the firepower on its own to do much, but his Hunter-VG, still scrambling with seemingly random sequences and mangled text, still had yet to find answers to the conundrum of where to begin.
And then, from the skies, came a certain figure.
"Mister Tsukasa...?" The boy atop the beast was confused by this as much as anything else. Hiro seemed to... resonate, with power, magic if he had to guess. But for what purpose? He was so close to the creature, but made no seeming move against it, and instead...
Tyzal held up the Hunter-VG, and began to scan. There was a flow of energy going from Mister Tsukasa now, headed to the creature... was he attempting to establish a link?
Tyzal looked down at the beast, uncertainty seizing him. Communication between this thing and a human... he wasn't exactly sure it'd be possible, as things were. Supposedly fresh born, fuelled by concepts rather than true development, would it have even a chance to develop a tongue?
...This was going to be the stupidest thing, but even if the beast was unwilling to engage diplomatically, perhaps understanding might provide some insight. And so far, he could interact with it - it had some kind of matter and mass. It was nevertheless a stupid idea, but...
"Hm!" He pressed his left hand to the creature, and attempted to force an external wave change. If he could somehow convert some part of it, even just a little, he might be able to forcefully decipher its thoughts through the Hunter-VG's translator, rather than waiting for it to compile a possible language from its speech - or lack thereof. And from there, perhaps more might be possible....
Sat upon a distance hill, there was a man.
A very, very sad man, whose thoughts were filled with conflict and contradiction.
The world he so desired, within his grasp, but at a cost that tore at his moral fibre and being - there was only so much that one man could justify.
He had hoped for some metaphysical quirk that would have been hard to debate, something where the proposed crime never 'really' happened.
Instead, there would be corpses, skulls enough for a skull throne atop a pyramid of skulls.
He idly tossed the gun in his hand.
He still didn't want governments restricting people now anymore than ever before, but just being an anarchist shouldn't have deemed him evil in any regard. He had said as much to the students of Hyakuji, told them of the innate goodness in mankind's heart that would, in the face of true freedom, ultimately work out to find the best for everybody.
Yet his actions would, in any sane mind, make him the bad guy, and the brave children who now fought at the coastline, the ones trying to do some good.
And to think, she would have been around their age, were she still alive. His sweet little pinto. What would she have thought of him, as both a man and as a father, if she saw him now? Would she be down there, fighting?
Catching the gun, he pressed the barrel to his temple.
He didn't want to see how this would end. If the worst happened, it would be horribly unimaginable. If it did not come to be, he was still left alive as one of the worst kinds of human being, who messed with and took lives for no good reason. What was he meant to do, if he stayed alive?
And yet, his finger struggled in edging towards the trigger. Should he die, then the other two would remain. What then? One kill the other, and they be left to command the beast to enact their post-apocalyptic paradise? The beast be left to rampage, as the two squabbled but would be unwilling to make the final decision?
Abe sighed, as he sat upon that hill. He drew his phone, and idly tossed it alongside the gun, considering whether or not to make a call.
The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)
"Well, that was pointless." Shad muttered to himself, finishing his roundabout travels around the massive jaw without much luck at all. "How the heck is this thing able to open and close such a mouth?" His Persona shrugged, carefully guiding around the top of the monster's head.
"So many plans....not much time to try them all out. I wonder if Miss Lavender has some jars of white phosphorus and thermite I could 'acquire'. The combined burnout of the two might have some effect on the skin part of the body." He pondered, just as the message to leave came through.
"A anti-magic bomb? Sounds a bit moronic given there are a lot of mages around here....oh. Right. Flying on a magic broom made of solid mental energy from my Persona. Heheh...and of course I only have a minute. Wait, are these guys completely forgetting this thing can go sub-sonic to avoid such a blast?" He yelled out of frustration, wondering if the commanders in charge of this operation were drunk from desperation despite only fighting this beast after a few minutes. Anid the fact that if such a explosion of anti-magic properties went off, he'd pretty much fall to his death...or get sucked dry of mana and still die before plummeting to his doom.
Of course, when he heard Fate's voice, he raised his left hand upwards and closed his eyes since to be fair, he didn't see much of a choice, and in a flash, ended up in the safe-spot far away from the blast radius seconds later. "Ah. Thank you, miss! Thank you very much for saving us." He said, seeing that his Persona was also with him since they were mentally linked. He felt somewhat sore from the sudden ride, but at least he was alive for the time being.
'Now then....let's see if I still have that." He pulled off his backpack awhile he still had free time, searching around with his right hand for the Time Stone Fragment. "I bet this chunk of rock has enough power to do something epic in scale." Excalibur nodded to that, hopeful that he'll get used to slice the beast's innards properly.
Alas, the challenger's sacrifice was in vain. The weaponized limb withdrew itself from the explosion, not a scratch visible upon it's form. Eva and her squad would find themselves in a similar situation, as their plan and pulse did absolutely nothing. The beast just couldn't be affected by this. Not only was this creature outside of any known physics, it wasn't technically powered, as one would describe it: Apparently, it was the stock model of whatever species it was.
More attacks. More and more and more. And yet nothing, again. Their attacks crashed into the monster, affecting it no more than the raindrops from above. One massive leg rose up from the ocean as the majority of people took off, before crashing down onto the ground. It was advancing. The ground quaked as it's massive weight was put on the ground, more cracks forming on the already devastated shore.
And then it stopped.
The massive beast stopped moving for a moment, before turning to face a floating being.
Within the mind's eye, Hiro found himself trying to reach out through a veritable maelstrom of foreign concepts. It wouldn't drive him insane...probably. It wasn't as if this information was being forced into his mind, it was just the background noise that existed as a part of this creature.
Thought?
...Wait, what?
It can think.
You can think. Can they all? Nonsense. But maybe.
It was without...language. Which would make some sense. These were raw ideas being passed between the two 'minds'. But against all odds...It was communicating with Hiro.
You are the leader of these small ones?You wish to understand?Can you understand?So small, yet thinkingI will listen.And so shall you.
As Elizabeth ran, she'd noticed that everyone was doing something to try and take out the monstrosity, some directly fighting it while others shot various attacks at it to no avail. She continued to make her way to the Hyakuzor, cutting around objects or buildings that were in her way. Not only was Seth an employee but he was a friend of Valentines and by default, a friend of Elizabeth's. The warning for the anti-magic pulse didn't worry Elizabeth at all due to her entire being being constructed through science, although knowing that a decent majority of those fighting would be affected and causing her to be closer to the creature without much support.
Even though she were a machine with artificial intelligence, she'd rather not experience being crushed by the massive creature. As she continued, she'd begin to hear music in the far off distance, adding to the already chaotic scene. "A lyrical morale booster?" Elizabeth said to herself as she ran, "Perhaps this will be more helpful than the previous attempt." As she began to come closer, the suns light slowly became lost due to the creature blocking it and causing a shadow on the port. She began to stumble around a bit as it made its approach on land, slowing down so she doesn't trip over and wasting time.
Ah, people are heavy.
After using her speed to zap away whoever wanted to be zapped away, Fate collapsed to her knees, grasping her mouth with her hand. Going at such a high speed, while carrying people... it was a bit too much for her. Ah, she felt like vomiting, and-
Fate's face went a bit pale from the sick sensation that shook through her body. However, she quickly shook it off, stumbling back onto her feet and looking towards the creature. It stopped? She couldn't discern the exact events from this distance, but the lack of constant, thunderous quaking made it pretty apparent that it wasn't doing the... things it was doing moments earlier.
Well, it clearly wasn't killed...
...Maybe they were communicating?
Hahaha... That would be daft. It's a monster. Not even human monsters can be reasoned with!
"Alright, plan of action... plan of action plan of action..." the young blonde did her best to think of what to do next... but she wasn't a master at planning. Looking at Shad, who she towered over by a ridiculous margin, Fate couldn't help but inquire for his assistance. "Oi, shorttyyy~ I don't know your name but do you have a plan?"
Amitie recoiled as the creature came onto land, dragging herself and anyone that had fallen outside of the creature's path. If she could get through the metal that protected the Hyakuzor's pilots, this would include its pilots. Thankfully, enhanced strength meant that it would be easy to carry those within around...
This wasn't an act of selflessness, however. Amitie simply couldn't move the entire mech herself, even with her ridiculous strength. She figured that saving those that were inside, that were piloting what could very well be their last chance... well, she figured that she didn't want them to die for the sake of the world not dying.
This would come to a halt, though, when the monster did. Instead, she would silently stare up at the man hanging in the skies. That was that legendary teacher, right? Honestly, she couldn't tell from this distance... but she simply hoped he was. At this point, they would need whatever craziness they could get.
...wait, the monster was still stopped?
Was he holding it back with the sheer force of his mind!? Was he, uh...
...Okay, she was sticking with that one. She had no reason to believe otherwise. Plus, it sounded kinda cool and kept her far, far away from feeling weakness...
"It stopped...?"
Using her... advanced mobility, Einhart would manage to cling to the monster, propelling gusts of force from her legs to slowly ascend upwards. The fact that it had stopped moving meant that Einhart's job was sufficiently eased. It would be a lot easier to climb up to the monster's head if it remained still, right?
The way it was shaking earlier... it felt like her body was being ripped apart. Were it not for her ridiculous fixation on being at the very, very peak of physical training, she would've probably fallen off. Luckily, her gauntlets and greaves were making aiding in absorbing some of the impact of how he was moving. But even then, it hurt her entire body. It was good that it stopped, right?
"You're not stopping, right!?"
Einhart practically shrieked at it. This exciting phenomenon, it couldn't be cut short, right? Her tone was blood-curdling and probably high enough to hurt the ears of anyone nearby. Einhart's usual, thoughtless gaze switched to one of genuine fear and panic. Her body trembled as she did her best to climb up and up, further.
Why wasn't it moving!? Attacking!? Anything!?
Einhart didn't fight for anything but to protect her Queen and to sate his heritage. Both were on equal-footing to her, and while 'protecting the world' would guarantee the safety of her Queen, her primal urges temporarily took over. She felt like she and her Queen would be safe either way, but the chance to fight something like this...
The tiniest bit of height she had gained, had already been lost. Her fingers slipped on the creature's skin as emotions trampled her balance. Her tiny fists, covered in that form fitting black metal... one of them moved up to her eyes.
She had started to cry.
It had only been a few seconds since it stopped moving, but Einhart had already given up her hope.
"WHY ARE YOU STOPPING!?"
Earthquake.
Of all things, an earthquake. The shockwave had to come just as she was landing, causing her to trip over and do a frontflip in her personal microgravity to compensate, adjusting her weight back to normal as Ami took stock of the situation once more, panting slightly from the jumps.
Which, as things always do in these type of situations, changed drastically within a matter of seconds. It was heading forward. At least that was a fact. The unstoppable force. Humanity had a good ru-
Then Ami's mind blanked. It stopped. This mon- THING stopped. Right on it's tracks. Incomprehensible. Was it? To her, it was. Rationalization still failing. Mind still using baseless assumptions. Even if this school as full of comprehensible things, hell, at least they could be seen. But this. It was unstoppable...and then it stopped.
And she stared on. And on. And watch it turn. Right at the man in the sky. No idea who he was. But he was doing something. Beyond the din of the music, the echoes of the scene around her, and everything right now, a single man had stopped the thing. How, it didn't matter.
And all she could think of doing was stare and wait for the conclusion.
Again, bolded parts indicate actions that may affect others, please read!
Jun would find a strong grip on her wrist, and if she looked up she would see that one of the EVA androids had grabbed it and was pulling her out of the water. At the same time another android took hold of Carol as well and any other students left stranded by the PNP, flying them all back to shore. The gamble had failed, and the only thing that came out of it was a weakened fighting force. Eva saw this and ordered a full retreat to her forces, and her surviving androids redirected their efforts to protecting their allies.
Then without warning the monster just stopped dead in its tracks. Eva didn’t understand why it was happening, but wasn’t going to complain at this point. She looked around through all the eyes of her androids and found Hiro floating there as if in a trance… and the monster staring at him. Were they talking? Or were they fighting some invisible battle? Eva had no idea, but she sent five EVAs to watch over him in case something went wrong.
Meanwhile the androids assigned to guarding Yuzuki and Eva’s original body had picked up an oncoming mass of creatures. Eva recognized them as Lenny’s haemonculi, but wasn’t sure what they were doing until she saw that they were headed for the Frostfire’s main cannon. The gynoid immediately retracted from her surrogate body and returned to her own, leading her guards to assault the incapacitated swarm. To her this was a clear act of treason, overriding all their previous co-operations, and she was determined to deal as much damage to the hive mind as possible before it recovered.
“ATTENTION ALL FORCES. THE STUDENT KNOWN AS LENNY BARRONS HAS GONE ROGUE AND IS ACTIVELY ATTACKING OUR DEFENSES AT THE FROSTFIRE ENCAMPMENT. ANYONE WHO HAS INFORMATION ON HIS LOCATION REPORT IMMEDIATELY.”
Eva herself would send out scout teams in addition to her satellite to look for the young man or his hive mind as well. Should she or any one of her allies find him, she would immediately mount an assault to put him out of commission for the remainder of this battle. She might not be able to stop the monster, but this was definitely something she can do.
If hitting the Apocalypse Beast didn't do anything, hitting it harder... made no difference either, as Lavender and Selene learned as the next wave of attacks made against the eldritch horror proved no more effective than the ones that came before. "And then what?" the aeromancer wondered in a frustrated tone of voice. And then it started moving, continuing about its misson - to bring about the end of all things.
"So... that's it huh?" Selene slumped back against her golem as she witnessed the futility of their second wave of attacks, at least until she received an unsettling announcement on a wave of unidentified creatures advancing upon their encampment!
"Ms. Frostfire! We've got unidentified creatures advancing upon our position!" A PMC trooper shouted as the few remaining forces stationed at the particle beam cannon battery spurred themselves into action - taking positions behind stacks of supply crates and armored Humvees with G36C assault carbines and M240B light machine guns. "Weapons free; fire at will!" the contingent's second in command barked the order, and all at once the mercenaries let loose with a hail of small arms fire, looking to cut down the advancing swarm!
"Whatever you do, don't let them reach the cannons!" Selene wasn't sure of the creatures' intentions, but she guessed that they were most likely trying to disable the Eye Of Ra particle beam cannons. "Hold them off, it's not over until the fat lady sings!" the corporate heiress ordered, pointing at the incoming haemonculi swarm. With a mechanical-sounding growl that resembled the blasting of steam over the grinding of gears the Geisinan War Hulk raised its arms, the armored plates on its forearms opening slightly to reveal a set of tri-linked guns on each arm before opening fire, unleashing a hail of blue-white magical bolts on the horde.
"There's too many of them!" A trooper lamented; with the bulk of their forces still in the midst of being recalled from the docks and the haemonculi swarm attack so swiftly and suddenly, there seemed to be no way of stopping them from accomplishing their objective... until for some inexplicable reason, the creatures simply halted. "Shut up and keep firing!" the 2IC retorted, ditching the M240B to climb into the turret of a nearby Humvee to man its mounted Browning M2HB heavy machine gun.
"I hope Tsukasa-san knows what he's doing here," Lavender remarked as Hiro made his move no sooner had the Apocalypse Beast taken a step forward, and surprisingly managing to stop it in its tracks - for now anyway. In the meantime though, Lavender reckoned it was time for her to start getting any remaining students out of the way.
OOC @Ragnakor: This one affects your character
"Come on girl, it's not safe here!" The aeromancer remarked as she swooped down towards a girl with short purple hair. (Ami) Without saying anymore, Lavender would wrap an arm around the other girl, the vortex of controlled air that surrounds the aeromancer extending outwards to encompass the both of them - and assuming the girl didn't resist - and take both of them into the air as the aeromancer increased her altitude, looking for the nearest safe place where she could drop Ami off before taking to the skies once again.
"No idea who he is, or where... sorry about that," Selene replied to Eva's transmissions. The name Lenny Barrons didn't ring a bell to the corporate heiress, but at least she was now armed with the knowledge that said person was the one responding for the horde of unidentified creatures that were assaulting the Frostfire encampment - and that he was trying his best to ensure that the Apocalypse Beast would succeed in its objective - but why? However, seeing the reinforcements at hand, along with the effects of River City Ransom's song, lifted the corporate heiress' spirits.
"This is for humanity!" Selene declared as she pointed at the currently-incapacitated haemonculi swarm, gesturing for her golem and PMC troops to press on with their assault, looking to thin out their numbers as much as possible!
Meanwhile, Jen would find herself becoming aware of the presence of a certain Brazilian on the same hill as herself - not far from where the purple-haired girl had pitched her makeshift shelter and had thus far been observing the action on her laptop via a series of surveillance cameras at the dock buildings that she'd hacked into. "Aren't you the one who calls himself Tiger on the internet?" Jen asked as she approached the man, her hands raised to indicate that she meant no harm upon noticing the gun lying nearby, just within his reach.
"Didn't you have a part to play in unleashing that thing?" the purple-haired girl asked, realizing that the man didn't appear pleased at all. "Looks like you might just get your wish of a new world after all, seeing how we've all thrown everything at it, and it's taken it all without so much as a scratch," Jen continued, trying to strike up a conversation with him. "So pray tell, why aren't you happy about this?" she wondered.
