[Pacific Ocean]

"We've sighted the anomaly."

A lone tower stood in the ocean, a glowing obelisk that was born from the strongest desires and aspects that humanity had. Green runic lines ran up and down the spire, arcane power coursing through it, growing stronger with each passing moment.

A lone vessel was on approach, a man looking at a monitor on the ship. He looked to an authority figure, who returned the look with a nod. "Alright then. Let's see if this apocalypse is bullet proof. Get everything we have aimed at it, including the thing we're not supposed to have."

"Sir?"

"We've been told to unload everything, so we're unloading everything. The boys up top want this dealt with before we have to evacuate any coast-based cities. They gave us the best tools, we're gonna use them." The authority figure said, before taking a seat. "Let's see how this ancient bastard enjoys all the things we've made in the last few million years."

[Cape Erimo, Japan]
[3 Days Later]

It had been a week since two of the self-proclaimed kings had appeared and explained the mad situation. Information was slowly being sent out all week, and some panic had risen in return. Riots here, conflict there, but thankfully the full depth of the news hadn't been revealed. All people knew was that a monster in the pacific had been found, and was moving west, to Japan. The full nature of whatever this was, thankfully, was being kept secret.

Thanks to the advanced notice, people in higher locations were able to mobilize, get people active and involved. Organization, secret and otherwise, were recruited, from across the world. All of it was leading up to this. Teens, adults, children, powered or mundane, brilliant or dull, anyone with a possible talent that could be used here was recruited.

Various people from around the world were sharing what information COULD be learned. This thing, whatever it was, was truly ancient. Older than pretty much everything they had on record. It had always been there, but it hadn't always been there last week. It was a conduit for...Magic? That was the best theory at the moment, but it didn't comply with known magics.

Roughly 4 hours ago, it ceased to be, as it was, and instead 'hatched' into some massive monster-like thing. No force that was sent to intercept survived long enough to give a detailed description of it, save for it's massive size and destructive power. They were able to give it's heading, and with the help of various groups, assembled whoever they could to wear you stood now.

Soon, a beast would be upon everyone. Those assembled here today, how do you react, with this information, in this place, at this moment?

Naturally, BOARD was present. Riotroopers were being posted at several roads and ultimately helping with the evacuation of the civilian populace. It was standard procedure when any threat was inbound: keep casualties to a minimum and assist in trying to keep whatever monstrosity to that area after it landed. They were not holding back in the least as several mass production Side Basshas were also present, already stationed in their mechanical walker modes. In addition to this, a multitude of Riotroopers were also piloting the Jet Sligers as air support.

And to think, they still didn't feel it was enough.

Atop one of the many buildings was their command unit, Kenzaki Kazuna...and a being that hadn't seen any action for the longest time: Azuma Kouta. Accompanying them were Kazuna's elite squadron of Glaives, the so called "Sisters". Other Glaives could be seen around the area as well, establishing a communication network for BOARD operatives through their network. It was the first time they had this many people mobilized, yet they weren't sloppy in the least. They had information, but there were still too many unknowns to deal with, something that they were trying to gather.

Having a stronghold wasn't enough.

Still, everyone was antsy...making sure that people who could not fight were not present. They were fighting a world ending threat, and they had to make absolutely sure their stand here would hold. Anti-Fortress weaponry, Riders who had powers who could destroy cities if left unchecked...they were pulling out every single tool they had in their arsenal.

All that was left...was to pray/

Guilmon was going crazy. He had gone feral before, but Shirou had never seen anything like this. All he could do was chase after his partner as they ran past the people blocking entrance to the contained area. Was it a Digimon? What kind of threat would make Guilmon go this bloodthirsty? All he could do was follow...and support his friend to his utmost.

"The world is in danger, huh..."

As a member of the Dutch Special Forces, Fate was more privy to the state of what was going on than most regular students were. However, even though she had some concrete details, it felt like her superiors were leaving her in the dark on purpose. Maybe they had nothing more than the vague details that they gave her, but maybe they were... testing her, or something? Ever since the little incident with Lucid, Fate had become increasingly paranoid about anything they told her. Having her faith in herself shattered had negatively effected the trust she had in her superiors.

She didn't even know if what was going on now was real, or not... It could be a mass-scale training exercise by the Colonel or any of his 'friends'. But, right now, even Fate realised there was no time to assume these things. 'Saving the world', huh? Well, does that mean it's time to prove herself as the hero she wanted to be...?

Yeah, right.

...Maybe if she was flashy enough, someone would recognize her... someone would remember her after this was all over.

Fate was standing at the estimated arrival point of the monster, her hand up in the sky. Whatever, she might as well give it her best shot. And she would welcome it with all she had. A large, very, very large spear had formed her above her head.. cackling with lightning. Whatever it was, she was ready to nuke it into oblivious the moment it came to shore.

Ahh, exciting! How exciting! Her ancient blood was boiling. A large, ruinous monster that could destroy the world if they failed to beat it...?

Exciting, exciting, exciting!!

Unlike a lot of the onlookers, who were probably, at least slightly distressed by the situation... Einhart was in a position of childish glee. Something strong enough to destroy the planet? She was the descendent of the ancient King, the strongest Overlord!

The green-blue haired youth, who had already started drooling at this point... The most pure, innocent glow was in her eyes. She had never been this happy before. Not even in front of Olivie...

Finally, a worthy test of her strength. She completely forgot her awkwardness and her shyness, simply because of the promise of there being a huge monster for her to fight! She had already formed Asteion around her hands, and she was ready to punch out whatever appeared!

Ah, she was so happy that... um... W-what was her name! It didn't matter, she was some sort of soldier and she invited her here! If it weren't for the things she had been told, she would've remained completely oblivious of the events.

Amitie, however, was resting. Unlike Fate and Einhart who were preparing themselves, Amitie sat down in the middle of the area, simply resting her body against a nearby building, not paying attention to any soldiers that were trotting around. Her arms were crossed and she simply kept her eyes closed.

Any electric machinery within 33 meters of her simply wouldn't run out of energy, no matter what happened. She was putting her power to good use, as lazy as she looked. She figured that whatever these soldiers were doing was a greater help than whatever she could do.

So, she simply aided them in the best way she could. Silently.

And so the time has come.

A week wasn’t enough time to gather a force to oppose the harbinger of the end of the world, but what choice did they have? All things considered, it was impressive that they were able to stage any kind of resistance at all. Though if the demise of the earlier strike force were any indication, it probably won’t be enough…

They couldn’t just lie down and give up though, and if humanity was going down, it was going down fighting. It was kind of odd how these were the thoughts of a gynoid who, strictly speaking, wasn’t part of humanity. Eva was personally invested in the wellbeing of her home and friends however, and so she was here to do what she can against the walking apocalypse.

The gynoid looked out to the pacific, waiting for the monster to come into range. For now she’s tracking its movements using her satellite, but that’s the most she can do. She was seriously underpowered against something like this. If she had a kill sat or something that’d be a different story, but the way she is now she can’t do much unless… It was the last thing she wanted to do, but desperate times calls for desperate means. Eva patched herself to a certain communications channel that hasn’t been used for a long time.

“General Spruance, it has been some time since our last encounter.”

“Wha… Unit 00, you have some
nerve contacting me like this! I have half a mind to…”

“Silence. There are greater things at stake here. I trust you are aware of the events transpiring near Japan?”

“… So what if I am?”

“I want you to aid in subjugating the monster.”

“HAH! And why would I do that?”

“The monster will not stop at Japan. A unified defence is in your best interests, and our best chance at stopping it. Your forces will be a valuable asset.”

“Yeah? Well you did a number on my forces when you visited a few months ago.”

“Nonetheless it will be better than nothing. Or would you rather watch the world burn?”

“… Fine. I have an aircraft carrier and three escort destroyers in the area. I’m not promising anything else.”

“Thank you. Your aid is greatly appreciated.”

“Don’t thank me yet, Unit 00. You owe me for this…”

With that Spruance cut the communications, but not before sending Eva a crew and equipment manifest. Fifteen fighters and five torpedo bombers, less than the usual complement, but looks like there was a platoon of massed produce EVA androids and a squad of ERIS anti-supernatural androids on board as well. Against any other enemy that should be more than enough, but against this monster…

They’ll have to wait and see, won’t they?

"I guess our time to prepare is over."

Kaito looked around at the students in distress and knew that the time to fight was closing in. It seemed like only yesterday that he was having class without the thought of the world being destroyed on his conscious. Still, he knew this day was coming so he prepared by training as hard as he could in the time that was given. Kaito was scared though. The fact that if they failed here, the world would be doomed. It was a lot of pressure for the students. He questioned whether they could actually beat this thing and save the world...

No, He had to have hope! He had to try his best!

"Mom...Dad...Please give me the strength to fight this evil." said Kaito praying quietly. Suddenly his eyes shot open as he dropped his gourd to the ground and summoned all the water in it! ALL OF IT!

"No time to waste! gotta be ready for this thing whatever it is!"

Stretching his arms out in a T-pose, the water flowed around his body. The water formed around his limbs and started to take the shape of armor. This was no easy task and required all his concentration. Luckily he was good a focusing on one thing. It didnt take too long to make the shape..but then came the hard part. He had to freeze it now. Slowly the water started to freeze but it wasnt gonna be finished right away. Hopefully it would be complete in time

"Hmmm.....I wonder when this thing is gonna get here."

Up on the roof of the school Kazuki was keeping a look out for the enemy. From atop of the roof he saw the others pulling out all the stops. It seemed as if they were preparing for war.

"Everyone looks like their giving their all. Guess I should start getting serious too!"

Putting his hand over his heart he took a deep breath and then yelled out to the sky.

"SHINE! MY BUSO RENKIN!!!"

Inside him the Kakugane opened and activated. A bright light rafiated atop the roof and soon Sunlight Heart had materialized in his hand.

"I wont stand ideally by as the world is about to be destroyed! I will stand by it and protect it until my last breath!"

All Kazuki could do now was help in any way he could.

Growing up in the middle of nowhere you spend most of your time working pretty hard, but when you're resting you mostly just watch a lot of TV. Being in Japan, so close to Hyakuji City, she'd seen this stuff as a little girl. World-ending catastrophes. City shattering monster-battles. It was almost a cliche at this point. Back then, it wasn't so mundane to watch and she'd looked up to those students and teachers she'd seen on TV. They were brave and they worked hard to protect everyone.

There wasn't anything between them. Some of them were kids like her, adults, tall, short it didn't matter. They fought together to protect the world. Maybe that's why she had this eerie sense of calm. Already she wasn't alone. Was she ready for this? Hell no, but she didn't have to go through it by herself. Sure she wasn't as experienced or as powerful as some of them, she'd only just started attending really but that didn't make this fight any less hers, or his, or hers.

Selfishness had no place here, this was for everyone. Weak or strong, this was everyone's fight. Jun was already shaking, partly from her abilities and the anticipation and partly from the latent fear which naturally exuded a situation like this. No matter how good she felt about doing this, she couldn't help wondering just how strong she really was. What does a fifteen year old vibrating rice girl have to help defeat something like...that?

There was no telling how long this fight could go on, her ability could become a danger to herself if she wasn't careful. Jun had brought a backpack full of calorie dense food to power through, but if this thing was as mean as it looked it might not be enough...

Somewhere at the far back of the gathering by the port, but no less noticeable, would be Hyakuji High's own Steel God Hyakuzor, the behemoth of a super robot towering high above the rest of the gatherers and most of the nearby buildings like a sentinel, obediently and silently watching the seeming calmness of the Pacific ocean.

The calm before the storm, as the saying goes.

Within the top of the three cockpits of Hyakuzor stationed the young man named Seth Ryouga. Lounging in his seat with his feet resting atop the terminals, his relaxed posture did nothing to hide the anxiety in his mind, as is being betrayed by his expression. The panoramic monitor in the cockpit showed various screens showing various video feeds of the Pacific gotten from multitudes of sources, his eyes flitting over each one of them without stopping for any sign of the so-called monster.

One of the screen flickered and changed channel. The face girl with short silvery hair and a large dark green bow on her head appeared. It was Youma Kotoka, Seth's long-time partner and servant, contacting him from the second cockpit of Hyakuzor.

"Hey, you're actually tense?" She asked, giving the young man a small grin. "It's been a while since I've actually seen that expression, so scary~"

He didn't answer. Which was enough to have the grin drop from her face as she was taken aback. After a moment of even more silence, she sighed, and gave a genuine smile of reassurance instead. "You remember last time this kind of stuff happened?" She asked.

His eyes were drawn to her screen.

"You got really angry, yelled at me and slapped me too. In front of everyone else too, that's the most embarrassing part, ahaha!" She said with a laugh, though despite how lightly she's taking it it was clear that Seth wasn't quite comfortable talking about the memory. Something the girl was quick to pick up before hastily continuing, "A-ah, no I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable-! Don't... don't take it too badly...!"

Although...

"...I really was annoyed that time too, you know," She continued in a low voice, the smile on her face felt somewhat solemn. "I mean, I know you're just worried I'd get hurt. But... I wanted to do something too,"

Within her own cockpit in Hyakuzor, the girl's eyes drifted away from Seth's screen, pulling out another screen showing Hyakuji High and then the city of Hyakuji itself, and smiled at them. "It's my place too, you know. The school, the city, this second chance at life I've been given thanks to you... I want to give something back. I want to do something too,"

The screen flickered between the various places around the city of Hyakuji, from the shrine to the mall, from the police station to the little ramen store at the park, to some other various places outside the city itself. She looked away from it, turning her attention back to the screen of the first cockpit. "It's why I want to say... thanks for letting me fight as your sword this time, along with everyo-"

SNAP.

All of a sudden the young man snapped his finger, surprisingly loudly, much to the half-phantom's surprise. "What the hell, it sounded like you're giving an eulogy, stop that," The girl blinked at his response, seeing him now looking straight at her through the screen. "Don't joke around, get your act together and focus. If we get this done quick then we can still probably catch the late night movie. I'm counting on you on this one," The young man said as he leaned back on his seat. "You're mine after all, so don't embarrass me,"

And then his screen went black. The young girl continued to blink somewhat in confusion before snorting in amusement. "That part of him is never going to change I guess~"

Calm before the storm, calm before the storm.

Natsumi fidgeted.

She was here to help. Helping was what she did. She jumped at opportunities, was excited about them. Usually. This was a bit different. Whispers of a giant monster. Whispers of the end of the world. No way to tell what was true and what was false, only knowing that there was something out there, something huge and dangerous.

And she was just standing there, just another part of the crowd, clenching and unclenching her fists experimentally. Once she covered them with ice, they would have to stay that way for a while. No telling when - or if - there would be a break in the action to melt the ice and stretch.

Most of the people around her looked grim. Serious. They seemed to know what was at stake. There were a few that looked enthusiastic, itching for a fight. Demeanor hardly mattered - they all looked skilled. There was even a guy who looked like he had the ice armor thing down pat, and here she was, getting ready to cover only her lower forearms.

Was she going to be able to help?

Or was she going home in a body bag?

"OH GOD KILL IT WITH FIRE!" "That reaction is how I KNOW I did a good job!"
Ian:

"Not only did that IDIOT piss me off and just snub me over and over like a jackass, he goes and gets this thing squeezed out of reality's puckered sphincter! Abe, if I ever find out how to punch dead people in the face, I'm coming after you!"

Ian was, in typical fashion, pissed off and being loud about it. To his understanding, the Kings had gone and screwed up and now this THING was marching towards them. He'd dryly remarked to his adoptive father Dr. Alex that he'd really prefer him not killing himself if he decided to build an Oxygen Destroyer or something in response. Oddly enough, he seemed to be speaking on semi-familiar terms regarding someone apparently involved.

"Yeah, because an anarchic society without rulership needs to be set up by one singular person. FfffrrrRGGH!" Ian was livid. He'd actually had a few pretty good conversations of shared goals and visions with Abilio, it really really made him angry that this had happened.

Plus he'd been snubbed, apparently. Yes, Ian was in fact mostly outraged that he'd been passed up as the best example of chaos. Deeply insulted, he was, in fact. Mind you, that wasn't the motivation for him being present, he rather LIKED the world not being a wriggling ruin of what-the-hell, and would intervene on its behalf no doubt.

Quite honestly, he was sharing Einhart's enthusiasm for shoring up against this thing. Ian wanted to feel the blood BOIL inside him, though his take was less challenging and more predatory. Yes, Ian didn't want to just confront the life-antithetical atrocity to all that was known, he wanted to try and eat some! Lotsa meat on that big sucker, no doubt. Well probably not meat, but Ian could eat damn near anything those far, and if it turned out to be toxic to him, he'd neutralize or expel it. In all likelihood it was flat-out incompatible to life as he understood it, so would be impossible to assimilate. Proud and pissy, and having witnessed a nigh-apocalyptic thing like this before with a far smaller group against it, Ian was optimistic about their chances. It was pattern recognition to him. The world had been saved from this kind of thing HOW many times before? Someone should write a book on that, sheesh...Near-Apocalyptic Events Thwarted, A Timeline of Disaster Aversion.

That said, he was also cheered by the presence of Amitie and Eva, actually standing at a midpoint between them. Eva was his only friend, and Amitie was someone he was at least on good terms with. Ian also recognized quite a few other people present, both already there and arriving. Eva seemed rather concerned and busy with something, so he let her be for the time being while he focused on his own preparation.

Having had advanced warning and nothing beforehand, Ian had stockpiled an exceptional quantity of biomass, feasting on as much meat, wood, dirt, and along the way, fish and seaweed, kelp, algae, and basically any other large source of organic mass he could get, the more energy and nutrient-dense the better. Unlike typical situations, he didn't need to worry about sustaining the high metabolic needs of this because it would only be for this situation, so temporarily...

Wait a dang minute.

As Ian, who was standing within range of Amitie's energy field, began fueling his transformation while starting internally and consuming biomass, he found something shocking. He'd deliberately avoided doing anything like this when with her before, so had no idea of the potential for it. The metabolic energy and 'fuel' his cells used....

Was not being expent!?

"What-! This...aa- Who cares where it's coming from, this situation's too huge a clusterf-YES! I feel unlimited! Iihyeahaha! Well then, giant abomination monster, let's fight fire with fire!"

Posted Image

Yes, Ian was hamming out and saying his thoughts out loud, but he had a very good reason for that! What he was about to turn into was what some might think of as the monster's arrival! So it'd be best to let anyone know in earshot that he was on their side before going though with it.

His biomass, 'overfed' to 250 rather than 200 due to Ian's stockpiling, was unable to decrease due to his shifting, as under normal circumstances he needed to basically burn mass for fuel to liquidate his bodily resources and harness chemical energy to spur growth and change. With that energy tax on his abilities removed, his mutations cost nothing to him, though he was not able to produce mass from nothing. If damaged sufficiently, he'd still lose mass. But basically having a huge limiter on his shifting removed?

The effects were explosive. It was like a volcanic eruption of flesh.

Posted Image

Ian's muscle mass bulked up intensely, tearing his shirt to tatters, through tentacles burst through gaps between muscle and sinew to snatch the protein-based fabric and reabsorb it into the whole. With his flesh darkening grey with protein reinforcement and being covered by denticles like shark skin, his whole body was breaking down and reassembling. His secondary brains were fed as much of the ATP chemical energy he could fuel them with, delegating further changes to their focus.

The bones of his fingers tore through his skin ahead, sharpening into protein-steeled claws, though due to the idea of possibly having to dive into the water to make his attack he left a bit of flesh leftover on the base of each of them, to be extended into webbed fins for aquatic mobility if needed.

His legs and pelvic region engorged likewise, though Ian had the incidental decency to have basically nothing needing censoring as none of that was exactly needed in fighting off the upcoming monster. Just smooth, blackened, ashen flesh and bulging sinew, coated in denticles, and with ports for oxygen exchange opening.

A purplish cape of vascular flesh extended from his neck, which might have looked cosmetic, but the spiderweb of veins and capillaries all over it hinted that it was in fact a giant lung basically, allowing for Ian's now monstrous muscles to get the oxygen they needed. His feet burst through his shoes and gripped at the ground, though like his fingers were ready to be flippers by expanding their bases if needed. Tentacles tipped in snapping, pointed jaws packed full of serrated teeth emerged from his back under the cape.

And as if that weren't enough, more jaws. PLURAL! Ian's own face was blotted with mania and a hunger for carnage, the sclera of his eyes having gone red due to his whole body's blood vessels proliferating everywhere. His lips and cheeks receded, his maw opening cavernously, gaping as his teeth practically grew into combat knives in terms of size. And even serration! The enamel was reinforced with the silk-steel protein his claws and skin were, and with the ridge from his cranium that additional jaw muscles attached to, he'd pack an immense bite.

Then his abdomen opened up to reveal an even larger mouth where a human's stomach would be. His entire lower torso was like a half-protruding bear trap! And oh god he gave it a set of pincers at the sides too, for assisting in latching onto a colossal, moving entity's body.

To kill a monster, send a monster. Ian was ready.

Biomass: 250 (Amitie-fueled)

--------------
Yuzuki:

Yuzuki was quietly meditating. Her usual ponytail was let down, her princess-cut black hair falling down her back. Tranquil. Serene. Calm. This was something that would be impossible to reason with, unlike how things had turned out regarding the Time Stones.

It made her think of Hitagawa Yuuki. With a small smile, she wondered how fitting it would be if he came to fight at their side. She had not had a chance to speak to him, for that matter, though she'd kept a few curious tabs.

Still, with all these people committed to the task at hand, she was preparing her trump card. Would she be able to instigate such an extreme effect? This was going to be enormous...Not only all of Hyakuji's possible helpers, but the entire world's resources being devoted to the endeavor. The upcoming creature was against everything they knew.

And that meant everything they knew was on their side.

Quote:

((Hey! Listen! This next part is something you should read, she's got a power-up effect for everyone.))

"Can everyone hear me...? Ah, good. Anyone committed to this should be able to communicate freely with each other now."

Actually, yes they probably could! Yuzuki's gentle, soothing voice could be understood, even by those who did not know Japanese. She had established a Bond of Unity. Everyone committed to the same goal, to stand together here against the threat, was now able to send telepathic messages to each each other. It was not mind reading or sharing, more like a sort of mental radio they could send short messages through to each other. Messages could only be sent to specific people, though Yuzuki could broadcast to everyone due to her being the connector. Though, of course, any who opted to be quiet or block the effect easily could. The only limit was perceptive range, so long as someone (or Yuzuki) was aware of approximately where the people they wanted to transmit a message to was, they could communicate.

The Bond of Unity also had other effects, due to the sheer number of people. The ability essentially granted an amplification effect to everyone unified proportional to the number of people. There was currently a massive battalion of people from all over the world gathering here, so needless to say it was about as strong now as it conceivably could be.

1: Morale was raised. It was easier to feel hopeful, brave, and inspired, though this was not an enforced mood shift. It was just easier to be positive, positivity was not induced.

2: SFX Boost. Everyone was now essentially protected by a defensive buff, though it was only a mild reduction of oncoming force or energy, not a shield likely to fully protect. How this protection manifested depended on the personality of those who received it, it was basically likely to make them look impressive visually based on what they would think they'd look "heroic" or just awesome in. (Check the ability text in the spoiler if you need further elaboration.) The protection was real, but the visual effect was just that, visual.

3. ??? (( This number of characters means that further boost effects are at the plot-runner's discretion, so Captain will be deciding what else happens. ))

For example, Yuzuki herself was surrounded by a breeze of petals swirling around her, adhering to her and building up into a sort of junihitoe, as she admired traditional regalia:

Posted Image

Probably not going to help with that "Princess" nickname she wasn't fond of.

Ian, amusingly, DIDN'T change visually, though he did have the protection effect, because he already thought he looked as kickass as possible! Prideful as usual...

Bond of Unity ability text copied from her profile

----------------
Alex:

Dr. Alexander Vaner was too old to be of much help here directly. Instead, he had constructed a remote-controlled aerial drone he was observing and able to communicate through. The drone was currently flying about 20 feet in the air above Ian, Alex keeping an eye on him and Eva. This was out of range of Amitie's field of effect, but nearby it. It was basically a RC helicopter he'd rigged speakers, a camera, and a smartphone to in order to control it via the internet. He definitely wanted to be able to observe and offer input to the others. However, due to him not actually being present, he was not subject to the Bond of Unity nor aware of it. That said, someone near his drone would be perfectly able to transmit what he said through the speakers to anyone else.

He was anxious, even all the way back in Hyakuji. Both because of the unknowable thing's approach, but also because of its nature as an unknowable. Alexander had a supernaturally powerful analytic ability. He could learn, calculate, and interpret virtually anything if he had sufficient data. What would happen when he laid eyes upon the thing? Would he be subject to knowing the unknowable, would he be able to comprehend? He refused to stand by and do nothing, and the chance that he could deduce some weakness or vulnerability it had was worth the danger of comprehension.

Though, he had given the drone a secondary infrared camera that he could switch to if merely looking at the thing tore at his perception. Prepared, he was. The speaker was, in Alex's paranoia, given another test. He'd made sure everything worked before he'd given it to Ian to take along, and had tested everything again after arrival, but...yeah, paranoia.

"Nothing to do but prepare. An unknown adversary with no precedent... Will conventional means be able to banish or destroy it?"

ZEHAHAHA!!
At the end of the world, even John and Kell couldn't work up the spite to continue their little conflict. It was probably a miracle, but they had finally agreed to call off hostilities until the world was saved from the horrid beast that was designed to destroy everything.

"Awawa, there's such a big enemy~! Oh, nooo. The kalpa shouldn't be ending for a while, it really shouldn't~!" Cariot cried, which did nothing but annoy the two who were frostily ignoring each other at the moment. Just because they didn't try to fight didn't mean they had to acknowledge the other's existence.

"Fuck's sake. Why does Seth get to ride in the giant robot? I'd love to ride in it." Kell grumbled, crossing her arms as she did. The moment John opened his mouth, she immediately glared at him. She knew he'd say something perverse and off-putting.

The world's fate was on their collective shoulders. How could she not be even more tense and catty than usual? One shot, one real shot at... at redemption.

"God, I beg you. If one of us has to die, take me and spare Rikina." Kell muttered under her breath, lowering her head as she did. This wasn't just about duty anymore. This was about life, love, and a lot of things in between for her. It was scary as hell, but she couldn't back down. Saving her lover and herself were the two biggest things on her mind right now.

John's thoughts were along the same lines. If they knew what the other was thinking, maybe they could begin to reconcile their differences. But they couldn't, and so the spectre of their little cold war continued to hover around in its stalemate, waiting to restart when the greater danger had passed.

"Ara, ara. What a lively group you have associated yourself with, Lucid-san." The kind, refined voice came from a cloaked girl who stood next to the assassin.

"Well, I think they could pull it off. No need for me to call for more than you as backup. It's just the case that you're the strongest in your family. And since the world's definitely going to be saved, we should try not to get any of your weaker siblings killed. Isn't that right?" She asked cheerily.

"My, I am grateful for your forethought. Dear friend, you did not have to take our safety into account. Regardless of whether we wish to risk ourselves or not, we are bound by honour to aid you. The Kamijou Family will not forget the fact that you liberated the current head's wife from a most tragic fate. And you have my thanks as well, for saving my mother all those years ago."

The inheritor bowed slightly, a small smile on her face as she honoured the assassin.

"Aw, shucks." Lucid rubbed the back of her head. She couldn't feel embarassment, but she could fake it. "Should be thanking you, with all these super empty heart feelings that totally have meaning. Super healer Misogi coming out here to help protect these people deserves an award for bravery, riiiight~?"

Placing a hand to her mouth, the miko giggled lightly.

"Please, you praise me far too profusely. I would much rather prefer to do my duty and be content with the knowledge that I have aided others. I do not need more than that simple happiness, dear friend."

At that moment, Yuzuki's power kicked in. Misogi gave a small gasp as her white aura surged, briefly lifting her hood and revealing her face. She had not expected to be empowered, especially not by one similar in nature to her.

"Oh, right. Forgot to tell you about Yuzuki Saito. You can already feel the similarities, although you have a different set of specialties. Needless to say, you two can have a chat later, riiight? Right now, we got to do our part in making sure the world doesn't go to heck!"

Lucid liked the world. She liked her beloved benefactor even more. The giant beast? Not so much. Therefore, the choice was simple. Even if she had to go one on one with the floating apocalypse, she wouldn't back down.

... Dear lord a lot of people showed up for this. Even looks like private contractors or something showed up... And I've heard this isn't the first time this has happened. For f**ks sake, how many times has the world almost ended?!

Ok. So. Apparently the end of the world was upon them. Apparently this was not the first time the end of the world was upon them. It was like some end of the year party to these people. At the very least, they knew what they were doing. He hoped. While he knew he wasn't going to be able to help out very much, he'd damned well put his all into it. Quite literally everyone's lives were on the line, so it was the least he could do.

Lucian's face was a mask of blankness, for the moment. Who knew that, soon after he joined Hyakuji High School, he'd be participating in stopping an end of the world level crisis event? He certainly didn't. Now wasn't really the time for disbelief, though. This really was going to happen. If it wasn't stopped, they would all die. Ok. Now... Breath.

Taking in a long, low breath, a dim shimmer of gold could be seen flashing around Lucian, before fading away. The most notible change came with the fact that his ever-present white dress gloves had turned into fully articulated metal gauntlets, which reached all the way up to his elbows. Breathing out slowly, Lucian flexed his hands, and checked on the condition of the gauntlets. He had no idea where they went when the gloves were, well, gloves, but they always seemed really well maintained.

Ready as I'll ever be, I suppose.

Lucian was still nervous about the whole deal, but he'd fight with all he had. His Ripple exorcises definitely helped calm him down, but, while he was doing them, something else happened. Power surged through Lucian, causing him to gasp a little as whatever-the-frak was going on kicked in. The golden glow that briefly appeared around Lucian when he drew on the Ripple came back, swelling to even greater heights than before! Instead of a dim golden sheen, it looked like Lucian was covered in a bright coat of see-through gold! What looked like lightning danced across the surface of his body, even.

Experimentally closing his fist, the not-quite-lightning danced up and down across his arm.

Lucian could see a variety of other things happening to the people gathered here, so it looked like someone on their side had pulled off some sort of mass empowerment. After a moment of analyzing it, Lucian saw it wasn't really an increase of power, more like a... Barrier? Yeah, a barrier! It was kind of like one, except not. Magic was weird. Speaking of which-

"Can everyone hear me...? Ah, good. Anyone committed to this should be able to communicate freely with each other now."

Holycrapghostladyvoice!

... Can ya blame the guy? This was his first time at mental communication. Anyway, yeah. Apparently they could all mind-skype. Useful. On top of all of that... A feeling welled up from within Lucian. Whatever doubts or nervousness he had was suddenly dashed away, replaced with a cool confidence, and, admittedly, a very large increase in wanting to punch whatever this thing was in the face. A lot.

Leaned on a rail near the shore, under one of the lighthouses of the harbor, the tall Naja Sybaris was standing still, her crystal clear eyes staring at the horizontal line separating water and sky.
A wind breeze was moving her long, black hair with a gentle caress.
The sound of the waves, so close to the rocks protecting the harbor made the only sound surrounding her. The salt was the only smell.
The human figure that wasn't a human at all was reflecting on her countless mistakes that helped this event to happen.
From her mistrust for humans to her ideal.
Still, humans were now there, to protect their lives and their world. All gathered together.
And Naja was the only naga that was there with them.
Her plea fell on deaf ears. No naga decided to help an outcast that openly rejected their self exile. Not one dared to oppose to what fate decided for them.
Just like the time they let the humans rule the world in their place.
They could all die with their traditions then.
If her race didn't want to save itself, she'd help the humans then. She'd help herself to make amend.

---

<So, the same woman that severed your arm and caused that mess on the train to Osaka, and one of the responsibles of what's happening is on our side now?>
Sitting on a bench, at the end of the arm of the harbor that led to the lighthouse two figures were staring at the black trail of Naja's hair, speaking their native italian language.
Two women, very similar were among those gathered there to try and stop what apparently was unavoidable: both with white hair, both with blue eyes. The only thing separating mother and daughter were the different age, and the tanned skin of the younger one.
<Yes> Amelia Riva confirmed with a relaxed smile.
<It seems you don't care at all, mom! She threatened a train full of people and mutilated you! Not to mention she is responsible of this all!> Aya Taisha retaliated.
<Nobody died that day. And she threatened only those that openly opposed to her. And my arm is just fine> That was true: Amelia's abilities allowed her to perfectly heal her limb. Not a scratch nor a scar were visible on her.
This brought her daughter to consider one more time how useful the regenerative powers of their discipline were, and she questioned herself why she favoured combat applications only in the past.

Aya didn't add anything else to the matter, and fell silent for a few seconds.
<She could have killed a lot of people with a single slash back in that train> her mother spoke <yet, she gave everyone the chance to move safely away from the area of her battle. I think she is not a bad person after all>
Amelia put a hand on her daughter's shoulders.
<Never make quick assumptions, Aya.>

The tanned girl remained silent for a while.
<Mom?>
<What?>
<I think I'm scared>
Amelia smiled.
<I know. I'm scared too.>
<But have no choice, right?>
<Just do what you can do better, daughter. I'm proud of you already.>

A puny little human was staring at the sky, drumming his fingers on his hat resting on his chest.
It had a beautiful shade of blue. Had it always been blue like this?
Frederic Aymonier was lying on a bench, on the opposite side of the harbor. The french explorer was there, nervously lying in wait, yet appearing as calm as ever.
He was there, waiting to avoid the inevitable.
"Merde" he muttered to himself "I'm really an idiot"

Why was he there to begin with? What could he do against something that pretty much annihilated everything humanity threw at it a few days earlier?
He could be accidentally killed by his own superpowered student! He was just a frail nothing against the unknown.
Ironically enough, that was why it was so exciting.
Maybe there was nothing he could do, but nothing could stop the Survival Studies TA to try anyway.
He made a reputation out of it. He had to live to that reputation after all, superpowers or not! He had to be there. He had to stand and watch, and wait for that moment, that very instant his actions could turn the tide.
Maybe there was no such chance in the end, but what if his presence could really turn the tide?
If not, he was going to be dead anyway, so why be anywhere else?

---

"As a member of the Student Council, it's my duty to be here!"
A short, redskinned girl with a somewhat forced smile, yet great determination was advancing to the harbor.
The young Heleth Mastema wore a black set of clothing, but on it she had the Stuco armband on.
Her hair was split in five strands around her head, and shaped with pointy tips. It was obvious to anybody noticing her that those were weapons.
Heleth Mastema would stab to death any creature that dared to threaten the wellbeing of her domain, just like any noble and honorable demon would do in her place.
It wasn't like Hyakuji High was actually hers to begin with, but from her point of view it was under her jurisdiction in some form.

Her father Mastema would be so proud of her!
She wasn't alone, all the people of the school, and many, many more were there to ensure the world, and the school with it, would see another day. It was only obvious that a future leader would be there to support them with her abilities, right?

---

A voice echoed through all of them, something that surprised some, and irritated others.
"Hey! Get out of my head!" Heleth's voice resounded immediately "This would cause an uncoordinated mess if everyone speaks tog...!?"
"Sacre bleu! I'm a telepath now!" the cheery exclamation of Frederic superimposed itself above Heleth's complaint "People, kids! If you can hear me, hear this: we can do it, if we all believe in it! As little as your contribution can be, it can still make the difference. A single droplet is small, but together we're a huge, unstoppable tidal wave!"

It was time to see Vale and Kal's creation in full gear, Elizabeth standing there and awaiting the monstrous creature along with everyone else. Wearing her daily outfit, Elizabeth stood there and taking in the view while calamity rested on the horizon. Judging by the lack of her makers, it would be safe to assume they were back in Hyakuji and helping with other matters.

[Earlier]

"Elizabeth, you will head to the location and help defend along with everyone else. Me and Kalvera will be accessing information on the internet and processing the data to send out to other information centers. It would be much faster if you were tasked with it but we need you because you are the strongest of us, well, me specifically since Kalvera does not fight," Valentine said, sitting in her office along with Kal and Elizabeth.

"I'll head to my office then and get working, Miss Valentine. Liz, I want you to hack a couple satellites so we can watch the activity. If we get any information, we'll send it directly to you. Try not to access anything from the internet or the network otherwise because we need your physical capabilities at one hundred percent. If you run into anyone with network capabilities, relay them the same information." And with that, Kal made her leave from Valentine's office to her own, Elizabeth giving her a nod after receiving the order.

[Now]

Seeing a familiar face, Elizabeth moved up to him while continuing to look out towards the horizon. "Greetings," Elizabeth said to Kaito as he began encasing himself in some sort of water like armor. Suddenly, she felt a sudden burst of energy, her processes overclocking out of nowhere. For Elizabeth, it felt as if she were day dreaming and suddenly snapped to.

Beware The Penguin Emperor
A gentle voice bounced inside his head for a few seconds before a beam of light enveloped the bluenette. As the light faded, Kaizo emerged wearing a knightly platemail, dark blue, almost black, with white outlines around specific pieces of the outfit. The shoulder guards descended into the upper arm in a swirling pattern, the upper arms in turn were lightly guarded by three spiralling strands of iron, completely silver in colour, which lead to the gauntlets that protected his forearms and hands. the rest of the outfit was fairly normal, except for a protrusion on both of the platemail's knees, one of which was noticeably dented, and what appeared to be a tattered cape. He wore no helmet.

Slowly, he reached out his left hand, first pushing the shoulder, then opening his elbow, and finally, stretching out his hands, he watched his fingers as they moved as naturally as they would in games.

"Normal"

He swung his limbs around, noticing that he did not feel any heavier, nor was his movement impaired, or if it did, his dexterity was low enough that he did not notice at all. It easily became natural to think of himself as he was in his new appearance, even if he would not be allowed to bask in his heroic form, as danger approached them at a steady pace.

Quickly he voiced his gratitude towards the person that had allowed such an ability, assuming that it had been the same as the one that had granted telepathy due to the timing of the two abilities.

"I am thankful for your aid in providing us with armor."

A polite and simple gesture, nothing more than a few words, however perhaps a few words would go to great lengths when they were to consider that it was likely that some would be unable to hear anything more after facing whatever they had prepared for.

Fully charged with pixels, Kaizo readied himself for battle, as much as a teenager with confidence issues on his own abilities could prepare themselves when they were fighting an unknown enemy that required a rather large group of superhumans to be fought evenly.

(5000/5000 pixels remaining)

Carol's transformation went swimmingly into a lilac flamenco dress with pink ruffles, her shoes were purple, with a small heel to match the colours on her dress. She smiled, it was the exact style she pictured herself in if she ever became a full fledged magical girl.

"MIRROR KREUSS HAS UNLEASHED HER TRUE FORM, VILLAINS PREPARE!"

No credit was given to the owner of the protective ability, instead, the girl swallowed the pride all for herself. She twirled multiple times until she was relatively dizzy. then afterwards she looked around, hoping that someone would notice her. No one, at the very least no one in her immediate line of sight.

She pouted and turned her gaze towards the horizon, complete confidence of MIRROR KREUSS saving the day ushered from every pore of her body, as did an incessant desire to battle the enemy before herself. Her mirror wand stood above her head , an as it did, two clones materialized instantly besides her. Even she understood the need to take such an opponent at her fullest.

Today was the day of second chances for him, he had lost a wish before, maybe this would be his chance to grab at a second. Lenny Barrons, the resident opposition of the group, waited with baited breath. His fingers shook and he scratched his scalp irritably, his eyes windowed by Grey crescents. He was ready, but doubtful; he hated to admit it but he could already feel a weighing sense of eventuality, luckily that sense was not his exclusively.

The odds of the world destroyer against the gathered forces were as stacked as Lenny’s percieved chance of success. He hoped to gain a final favor from Lady Saigyouji and then ensure that the world was, in fact, destroyed. As he had explained only a week earlier he was willing to let the world fall for the sake of shaping it later. The others disagreed, and this was why Lenny was alone with himself.

He had spent a week in the woods, constantly working, hunting, and draining his frozen biomass stores to the dregs. He had shaped and crafted non-stop in a Hive Mind state. It had been the longest he had ever been in that alien state, but his work showed. The sound of steel groaned around him, his nest was an ocean liner, nearly broken, only her few bottom decks remaining. The husk tingled with hundreds of bodies, some the size of the tigers, others the size of small house cats. Lenny had crafted each of them sinew by bone, peptide base by fibre. He had lost count, but his swarm was about 250 strong. The rush job he had made when crafting them insured that none of them would live beyond midnight tomorrow, but it was worth a chance at godhood. He sat atop his Phylactery, an arachnid avatar of his own design, the only sentient being he had ever managed to make.

Yuzuki’s message found him however, even though he was hiding. He remembered her intrusive abilities from the Time King incident, though they were helpful Lenny disliked having a voice in his head. The possibility at communication was nice, but he wasn’t able to think of anyone to talk to; his outburst a week earlier convinced him he had only enemies here. He wondered whether his paranoia was well founded, I mean, they probably won’t kill me I mean I like, . . . one of them is my friend . . . ally . . . convenient acquaintance? God Damn it. He wished the thing would just show up, better to fight and die than to think about it.
