Sleeping, dozing, napping, nodding off, a state of being that most students achieve during the always popular math classes during their experiences in school. Some people stay awake and focus, at least trying their best to do whatever they can in order to make the time pass quicker while others spend the time doing something else, like reading a comic in secrecy or playing a game on their phone, perhaps plugging in their headphones and listening to music in an attempt to at least look busy, as opposed to being it.

And then we got Yoshino.

Her hand was pressing up and resting on her cheek as she dozed, the right side of her mouth producing a small sliver of drool that would run down along her chin and onto her arm, as the girl remained surprisingly quiet during all of it. She wasn't snoring or making any loud noises, in fact, she wasn't doing anything to stand out to the students and the teacher around her. Upon closer inspection, her eyes were actually wide open, the bright and clear blue in her eyes gazing down on the bench in front of her. Yoshino wasn't aware of it though, as she remained fast asleep.

Luckily, both for Yoshino and her classmates, the math class was the last period they had for the day. As soon as the bell would make it's always beloved ring, everyone would begin the process of gathering their books and bags and head for the exit. As time went on, the class got closer and closer to the end of it, a few students slowly packing their bags in advance and watching the clock with a sharp gaze.

*Tic*
*Tic*
*Tic*

*BRRRRRRRRR*

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!"

As the clock went off, a voice matched the noise of it with a loud and confused roar, followed by a two slamming noises and a girl whimpering out in pain. The sharp noise from the bell dug into Yoshino's ears, the girl exploding into an awakened state with her voice letting out a very frightened roar, her hand slipping off her cheek and her forehead connecting with the desk in front of her, which caused the first slamming noise.

In her dizzy state, the girl would react by pushing herself back, making her torso and the chair she sat on fall backwards.. and onto the desk behind her, making the back of her head connect with the hard surface of her classmate's table, the students around her pulling themselves away as they watched with amused horror in their eyes.

"HHHUUUUURTSSSSS"

Yoshino let out with a pained expression on her face, hands moving back and pressing over the bump on the back of her head, a slight dye of red pushing out into her palm as her eyes teared in the confusion.

Fate was still a first year, despite her age. Because of how long she was gone, she had to do her first year all over again. It was kind of embarrassing, but she didn't care all that much. School here was fun! More years was more fun! The work wasn't fun, but the people were fun and the fun was SUPERfun!

Except maths

That was not fun.

Because of a conflict in scheduling, Fate had to take maths at the end of the day, with the second years, instead of at the start. This meant she couldn't get all that much support from the teacher, as the lesson was about stuff that wasn't even in her books yet!

Not having a teacher to rely on meant that she was far more lost on this all that she should be. She followed her philosophy of skipping a question if you don't understand it and can't ask it right now, but after a certain point... well, she had skipped the entire chapter she had to finish! Desperately, her hands slapped back the pages, making her way back to the start of the chapter... and slowly starting to read again. There had to be something she missed, right?

And it was true, after she had read the first page a few times, she found what she missed! Sparkling, happy and proud of herself, she moved her hand back to the paper, trying to write down her answer. But then, suddenly-

The bell interrupted her thought process.

...And then a loud scream and a thump did, too.

The moment Fate had turned away to look at Yoshino was the moment she lost her answer. Slowly, she turned back to her paper, trying to write the answer, and...

...T-two? Was two the answer? It was the only thing she had managed to write down before she was distracted... ahh... what was it... what was it...

Defeated, Fate's head collapsed into the desk. Her hands reached up, wrapping around her blonde hair and grasping at the front of back of her head. Before, mimicking Yoshino, she kicked herself back and let out a loud.

"...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!"

Only, it wasn't nearly as loud as Yoshino's legitimate yell. She was obviously trying to yell at herself, but she was also trying to... not yell too loud.

"I almost had that answeeer..." Fate whined out annoyedly, letting her head flop back down on the desk.

While Fate and Yoshino suffered with both math and physical injury, most of the students around them had packed up and left the classroom, teacher included. As Fate struggled with her math, letting out a scream to math the klutz on the floor, said klutz attempted to reach for her desk and pull herself up with her right hand while her left hand rubbed the back of her head. She was very dizzy at this point and one could clearly tell with how she struggled with the simple act of standing up.

Luckily, help was on the horizon.

The horizon known as the door and the help in the form of a short catgirl. Enter Remi, a short catgirl with the ability to float, scream and eat infinite amounts of candy without getting diabetes. Slowly, the kitten floated over towards Yoshino and grabbed a hold of her with both her arms wrapping up around the dizzy girl's torso, as she started pulling the girl up to her feet.

"Nyahaha! You fell over again, didn't you? Don't worry, you can repay me with some of that weird candy you always ma.. ma.. fa.. fa.."

As Remi taunted the girl, her eyes traveled up and gazed at the female near the other desk, tails flickering upwards while her ears matched those motions. Suddenly, her arms would throw Yoshino towards her desk, the young girl letting out a loud groan of pain as she landed face first against her math book and proceeded to bounce off it and onto the floor next to her desk, landing on her back as she gasped out a melodramatic speech.

"I-I c.. I can see the sparkling.. diner in the sky.."

"FAAAAAAAAAAAAATEEEEEEEEE!!"

All while Remi decided to tackle her tiny frame forward and against Fate's body, arms first as she aimed to give the girl a hug and latch onto her before anything else, her face sparkling with excitement.

Haah, she didn't get any further in math at all... m-maybe she'd have to do the year over again once more if she didn't improve it, and improve it quick! Ah, she didn't want that. She wasn't that stupid! There were just a lot of things keeping her distracted from school, and math was her worst subject! She wasn't that stupid, it was just hard...

While Fate didn't mind not being a super genius of any sort, it did sting to be such a failure in a specific subject. It stung so much that she didn't even notice the new intruder until it was too late! She had already started to sulk, letting her head rest down on the desk beneath her as she did her best to remember the solution that she just lost. Ah, this was so horrible. So horrible, and...

Did she just hear her own name being cried out?

Fate turned her body around, quickly noticing the cat-girl that she had met during her first actual year of Hyakuji. "A-ah!" a happy noise came from her lips as she moved her arms to catch Remi, quickly spinning her around once before setting her down. Fate had grown in a lot of ways, and her strength was definitely a lot more than it used to be! But even though she seemed different in a lot of ways...

She still had that same shining, bright innocence radiating from her "Remi Remi! How have you been!" Fate would say, lifting the catgirl up once again and pulling her into her now relatively huge frame. While Fate had grown up a lot, she still had that childish aura she had a year ago. "Oh I brought you some candy, but it's in my room! It's special candy from my home country! People say it's the best around!"

The blonde moved her left hand up to pat-pat-pat over the catgirl's head, while her other hand remained firmly wrapped around her body, pulling the kitten's head into her own chest. Maybe slightly to deep, but she was doing her best to remain affectionate!

"Have you been a good cat since I was gone? Sorry that I haven't said hi earlier! I've been on a lot of missions and I've been reaally~ tired! But I'm okay now, so I'm hugging you now!" she was still as hyperactive and excited as ever. She wouldn't even let the catgirl speak as she went on and on...

...Oh, that was the girl that was loud?

Fate's eyes wandered to Yoshino, setting Remi down and pointing at her quite rudely, letting out a loud, accusing yell.

"HEY! IF I FAIL MATH AGAIN IT'S YOUR FAAAULT!"
