It was an unusually quiet day in the district. Normally Dawn would see the occasional person or two walking by her when she strolled through the area. Picking up her pace Dawn began to move faster, it was usually whenever there was no one around that something bad happened. It was an unusual circumstance that Dawn had begun to notice as of late.

As she began to get more worried about what the situation could turn into she began to notice people, namely a pair of them. This calmed her down a bit, even if they did look a bit suspicious to begin with. Dawn continued to walk at a slightly faster pace then normal, she didn't know why but she still felt quite on edge. She eventually began to notice that the people that were around in the district seemed to be following her.

To see whether or not this was indeed the case Dawn began to pick up her pace even faster. As she predicted the people began to pick up their own pace, from what she could see there was two people. Dawn wondered whether or not they were more hirelings of her father, this could potential turn into a bad situation.

Trying to lose them Dawn quickly ducked into an alleyway, unfortunately it was a dead end. Dawn began to get scared, she looked around for somewhere to hide eventually hiding behind a nearby pile of boxes. She tried to calm down her heat and her breathing, she listened and heard several pairs of footsteps.

"How did we lose her?" A voice rang out, it sounded rough.

"She knows magic, it isn't a surprise that she could vanish at a moment's notice." A more clear and commanding voice responded to the initial voice.

"Go ahead and head back." The commanding voice spoke, one of the foot steps began to get quieter however Dawn could only hear one set of foot steps walking away.

After a few minutes had passed Dawn heard the commanding voice speak again. "It is most unfortunate that I've been reduced to this kind of work." The sound of footsteps began to come ever closer. "I'm going to operate on the assumption you won't come willingly so come on out already."

Dawn walked out from behind the pile, she looked towards the man. He was in a business suit and had clean tidy hair and strong eyes. The man before her was deffinetly no pushover, Dawn had to be careful about how she engaged the man before her.

She began to channel magical energy towards her hands, sending some blasts towards him would be a good way to gauge his rough strength. As the lines began to appear around Dawn's arm the man in front of her laughed. He snapped his fingers in a loud and audible way, suddenly all of Dawn's energy began to drain from her body. She fell to her knees, suddenly extremely tired.

"I'm sorry, but that isn't going to work at all." The man said confidently as he stepped forward. "Please, let me go. I don't want to go back." Dawn said as tears began to well up in the corners of her eyes. "It's nothing personal but I have to finish the jobs I take." The situation was looking quite bad, Dawn couldn't fight against this opponent who had just sapped her of her magic.

"Oh, look. A duo of bullies who think they can get away with this shit."

A sardonic, annoyed voice rang out. Kell came in, holding the lapels of her leather jacket as she arrived on the scene. So, two on one, huh? This was just another day on the job, it seemed. The vigilante just shook her head, her lavender tresses blowing in the wind as she started coming closer.

"So, I've got a date tonight, and I can't be bothered to clean up afterwards." She replied, enunciating each word clearly in her clipped Canadian accent. "So here's the deal. You take a dive and I'll let you off with a few broken bones. Or you can make it hard for me. I don't think your families would like to see what happens if I get into it."

She held her hands out.

"Well?"

Dawn looked up as she saw Kell arrive on the scene. Even though she was happy that circumstances had turned out this way she wasn't sure whether or not Kell could handle them.

The two men turned around, the superior of the two laughed dryly. "Unfortunately it isn't as simple as that." He ran a hand through his hair and sighed before turning to face his subordinate. "You go ahead and leave."

"But sir-" The other man questioned his superior before being cut off. "This girl is to much for you to handle so you go ahead and head back, I'll follow shortly after." The subordinate nodded his head before he disappeared. Kell would notice the subordinate appearing again far away from the situation and beginning to walk away.

"Well then, I'll assume you arn't going to simply let this occur if I tell you that it doesn't concern you will you?" The suited man said as he straightened his tie, as he looked towards the newcomer. He pulled his sleeve back revealing a small armband like object, the object in question was made out of metal and had a series of buttons on it.

"I guess we'll just have to see what happens then." The man smiled calmly. Dawn started to move backwards, without her magic she was a liability that would just get in the way. It'd be better to just get somewhere safe and wait until her magic started to come back to her.

"Well, looky here. Big shot over here's got an armband. What is it, I wonder? Shield? Enhancer? Or hell, with my luck, maybe both and more." Kell rolled her eyes. Figures. But if he wanted to make it one on one, she'd deal with it.

She waved him over, an annoyed look on her face.

"Well, come on, suit. You want that girl? Fuck you, I'll break you in half and feed you to the rats." She gnashed her teeth, clearly willing to murder the man with every bit of her strength.

She shifted into a grappling stance, slightly hunched over as she approached. There was no time to waste, this asshole had to be pressured out of pressing his fancy buttons!

"I assure you, it is nothing that fancy." The man calmly said, this girl was underestimating him. It was a foolish move on her part. "Guess there's no talking you down then." The man sighed, this was supposed to be an easy job. Get in grab the girl and get out, how did it end up with this whole mess occurring. At least he got to play with his abilities for a bit, it had been a while since he got to let loose.

Dawn watched from behind the crates, it seemed like they were going to go at it. Dawn wondered what the armband did, it didn't seem like an ordinary armband, if anything it could've been what sapped her magic. Thankfully Kell didn't rely on magic from what Dawn had seen previously, still though Dawn felt uneasy.

"Let's go then." The man said as he held his arm towards Kell and pressed several of the buttons on his armband. Suddenly a wave of energy shot from his hand, if Kell got hit by them she would begin to feel dizzy as if someone spun her around for half a minute. Straight after that the man rushed forward aiming to punch Kell in the gut, if this worked it could potentially end the fight quickly.

"It's never easy. Now come on, die like a man!" Kell taunted, stomping over like the brute she was. Like a small, angry gorilla in a leather jacket, the luchadora approached with violent intentions. Maybe she'd break his arms, and then his neck. Or she'd go straight for the jugular.

However way she wanted to end him, the fact remained that it would be nasty and brutal, just the way she liked it. What she didn't like was the wave of energy that had struck her. Almost immediately, she started staggering about on rubbery legs. Her look of dazed outrage was evident as the man closed in.

And as his fist shot forward, she looked down to see it....

Miss, as she had already sidestepped it. In fact, she was already leaping up to try and catch him in a flying armbar.

"Idiot. Ever been forced to endure spar after spar while suffering from a bad concussion?" She slurred, malice shining in her eyes. "It ain't fun."

Quickly adjusting to his opponent's movements the man in the suit barely pulled away to a safe distance out of Kell's reach. "Can't say I have, I had to try to not got obliterated by magic." The man chuckled, he dusted his suit off. This opponent was going to be a difficult one to fight for sure, it seemed like the mission definitely was going to take a lot longer. It was unfortunate but life didn't always go the way it was planned.

Again the man brought the his free hand to the armband and pressed more buttons. Another wave of energy that looked exactly similar to the first one fired out. If Kell got hit by it she would find herself robbed of her eyesight, even if it was only a temporary effect hopefully he could get an advantage in combat during that time frame.

The man swiveled on his foot and aimed a kick towards Kell's side. If he could just incapacitate her this situation would resolve itself surprisingly quickly. He could grab his target and get out of there, preventing the situation from escalating any further.

Dawn continued to watch from behind the crate, from what she could tell the man had somehow mixed magic into that armband. She couldn't understand much more then that, however she did begin to feel her energy slowly starting to regenerate. If Kell could hold off the man for a little bit longer Dawn would be able to assist her.

"Funny. Smacks of weakness, too." Kell growled as her balance reasserted itself. Prepared for the next attack, she leapt to the side and avoided the energy wave. The kick was not so easy to avoid, though. She took that kick, grunting with the impact as she clenched her teeth and grinned.

"Got you." She hooked his leg with her good arm, stepping forward to unbalance him as she did. "I've taken a lot harder. Try again, idiot!"

At this stage, she wanted to beat him to death with her hands alone. That said, it was taking far too long. Guess she'd have to go all out soon if he kept on annoying her.

"Shit." The man fell over as he was unbalanced by Kell, he fell into the ground feeling his back have a sudden spark of pain. This girl was good, she was surprisingly good. It seemed that she was indeed capable of taking a lot of punishment. After slamming his fingers against the armband again in a quick motion Kell would find her grasp on him fade as he disappeared and reappeared in front of her.

"Guess i'll just blow you away then." He begun typing furiously whilst magical energy began to form in a strange seal in front of him. Dawn didn't know what was happening but she did know that he was getting an insane amount of magical energy into this spell. Whatever it was it was clearly high level magic.

"Lets see you survive this." The man said as more magic begun to flow towards the seal. His hand moved to the final command but before it could make contact with him the man's arm stopped. Kell would be able to notice his shirt turning red. "Heh, so that's how it is." The man laughed coarsely as he fell to the ground, the magical seal began to dissolve into the thin air.

A large shard of crystal was sticking out of the back of the man's body, Dawn was standing there with her hands covered in blood and even cut themselves, it seemed like she had impaled the man with her own magic.

"Guess I shouldn't have counted you out." The man said as he coughed, he seemed to still be alive but barely which was surprising the would was quite deep and he was bleeding a large amount. Dawn's hands were shaking and tears were streaming down her face, she fell to her knees and began to cradle her arms.

"F-" The man was a lot craftier than she gave him credit for. Damned armband was a lot more versatile than she had previously thought. Kell prepared to charge, ready to sell her life to kill him when he was struck from behind. Shit. The girl had to save her ass, after all.

"Cariot." Kell said tersely, clearly livid at the man who had caused this problem. Great, just fucking great. An innocent had to get her hands dirty because she couldn't seal the deal. No more screwing around. This was over.

The pink blob suddenly materialized around the man's armband, her rubbery body encircling the damned device so he couldn't activate it even if he tried his hardest to hit those buttons.

"Look away. Cover your ears."

Kell knew the red haired girl didn't want to engrave this memory into her mind, so she gave those quick commands as she immediately went over to the man. She lined up her boot with his head. She didn't give him any time to talk. She wasn't interested in talking.

Kell brought her foot down, like a stamping machine. And she didn't stop. This was punishment, for him and for herself.

Unfortunately for her Dawn was still shocked and couldn't look away. Her eyes looking dim she stared straight ahead almost looking through the entire scene as she continued holding herself whilst tears were falling to the ground.

She was clearly not in a healthy state of mind, she did basically end a person's life. How could she live with herself, was she any better then her father or the multiple men that he had sent after her? All these question circled Dawn's mind not even getting answers as she blankly stared forward at the scene unfolding in front of her.

Even as her glazed eyes looked over the scene in front of her a small fragment of Dawn realized that she had the power to protect herself now. The only question was if the price was to much or not. Regardless Dawn still sat there motionless. Unsure of what to think, her thoughts were a jumbled haze.

Kell didn't show mercy. After brutally crushing that guy's head in, she reached down and destroyed the armband with a lotus flower. There was no way, absolutely no way she would give an asshole like him even a 1% chance of surviving or getting away. Not when he would continue to hound the red haired girl in front of her. This was what she called justice, and by God did she love it.

"You should have done what I said." She wiped her gloves and boots off on the dead suit's clothes, a look of mild annoyance creasing her face as she performed this tedious task. "Would've saved you from years of nightmares, you know. Nobody needs to see me execute a bastard like him."

It was her responsibility, not the girl's. Kell was the one who carried out the death sentence, and this was the scene she made. Simple as that. Only her hands could possibly be dirtied.

"You wonder why he was after you? Or maybe you just don't want to think about it, huh?" Her sharp gaze bored into Dawn's eyes. "It's fine, but I wouldn't go home thinking long and hard about it if I had heard a reason from you."

Dawn had visible stopped crying, whether that was because she had run out of tears to cry or she had gotten over it was anyone's guess. She stood up blood still covering her arms, turning towards Kell she began to speak. "My father sent them after me, they are hired assasins." She looked at the corpse, everything should be disgusting her about it and a large portion of it was but she felt a sense of strength from it. Even though Kell had took the blame for killing the man Dawn knew better, the wound he had received that she had given him was a death sentence anyway. He was going to bleed out long before getting help, Kell just tried to shift the blame onto herself.

"He's coveted me as a trophy instead of a daughter since I was born." Why was Dawn telling her all of this, sure she did save her but this was something she kept to herself most of the time. "Putting me through years of hell." The anger was quite audibile in Dawn's voice, she was barely containing her rage. "And when I managed to get away from the bastard his influence follows me everywhere." At this point her blood soaked hands were clenched into fists and her teeth were grinding. "Even here, I thought i'd be safe here but even here he still interferes with my life."

Strangely enough Dawn then begun to relax. "But I'll show him, I'll get stronger then I'll show him what he showed me." She began to smile eerily "I'll show him just want it felt like" Dawn began to dryly laugh, it was clear that what she was saying was a veiled threat. It was so thinly veiled that it might as well not be one at all.

"Tch. Of course there'd be a fucker like that hanging around...."

Kell could see herself in the girl's place. Hell, she was likely to experience that at any point in the future, aside from the part where the assassins would be her own relatives. Still, didn't mean it wasn't horrible for the young mage. Being hunted down like an animal would take a toll on anybody.

She approached, eyes hard as she continued to look at the girl.

"You want vengeance? Fine by me. But once you've committed patricide, that's it. Once he's dead, the blood trail ends there. You and me both know that going any further means you've started walking his path."

She stopped, teeth set in a fierce grin.

"Today's a nice day. Get yourself cleaned up. Go take your mind off of this. Tomorrow is not going to be pleasant, so enjoy the time you have until then."

She closed her eyes, remembering her own experiences.

"Tomorrow, that's when the guilt really hits home. I'm not proud of my first kill, either."

"Of course, i'm nothing like him." Dawn retorted, her target was her father and anyone that stopped her from getting to him. When he died, she could go back to living her normal life. It was the reason she had to keep going. Not only for herself but for every other person that he had sent through hell.

Dawn nodded as Kell told her to go and enjoy what time she had left of the day. "Thank you for this, I won't forget it." She spoke as she walked past Kell over the body which by now was in a horrendous state. It was unfortunate that the situation had to end up occurring like this.

Kell was probably right and this was all going to hit a lot harder on her tomorrow, but it was a line that she had to cross sooner or later. She needed the ability to take a life if she wanted to have her revenge and that was something that she would have even if it killed her. She'd get the lifetime that she had lost to him.
